The other Yelper's who did a review on how bad this store is are 100% correct. The shoe section is always messy just messy just waiting for an accident to happen. I smell a law suit coming soon due to someone tripping over the size 13 tennis shoes placed right in the middle if the walk way. Their mens clothing selection is scarce. Everything seems to be out of place here. Sign says mens jeans but there's shorts and pj's hanging along side the jeans rack. What's up with that? I recently went here to purchase a High Chair for my baby. As I walked in I noticed many of the items are just on the floor. After a long search for the elevator ( Stollers on electric stairs are No Bueno), I managed to find the high chair I wanted. I went to the cash register and asked the teenager behind the counter if anyone was available to help me with a large box, due to my lack of height. She calls this big guy over and he walks to the baby department, I tell him which chair I want and I can clearly see the box right on top, he tells me to wait. I wait around 10 minutes for the guy, I know the box I need is right in front of me, and I feel like dropping it down and pushing it with the stroller. Suddenly the guy comes back into the picture and now brings management company over as well. The woman sais "It's not up there?, we have two on stock" the guy says "I don't see it". I interrupt, "Excuse me, the box is right there, it's the same barcode, same everything, I can see it from down here". The manager then looks, then turns toward me "it's his third day"... I silently count to 50 in my head really fast and manage a smile. After that the guy grabs the box and takes it to the register, I pay, and I thank the young man. So, I'm happy with my high chair, but that little episode doesn't really want me to go back. The staff concentrates around the main cash registers on the first floor, socializing, doing nothing, when they could be getting some excerzise and maybe helping a few customers along the way. This was my first time ever visiting this location. As I usually try to avoid most department stores in South Bay especially so close to the holidays because of the crowds , it is near my house , so I decided to stop by to give it a try. Please avoid this store if possible or bring someone that can wait in line for you while you shop for an hour or two. (Make sure your phone is charged also) The line was wrapped around and almost out the door and they had only 3 people on register . I saw about 10-20 other workers on the floor organizing go backs. The deployment in this store is unorganized and catastrophic. I talked to one of the regular workers and she said the line is always like that Monday-Sunday all times of the day . This Burlington Coat Factory store is a hideous place. While I avoided it due to its poor service and poor employee morale/attitude -- I am never going back now. I found that a friend had worked there, but was now fired. She had asked her manager in September for four days vacation in mid-December as her oldest daughter was graduating from a college in Texas. Her manager said sure -- and put her on the vacation schedule. That manager left in November, so my friend reminded her new manager that she had vacation scheduled. The manager said "NO". She then took it to the store manager, and he also refused to honor her promised vacation. Unfortunately my friend had already bought non-refundable airline tickets and hotel accommodations, and would lose about $1000 if she didn't take the trip. She took the trip and Burlington Coat Factory fired her. To me, this is highly unethical. But this is evidently their standard operating style -- employees count for NOTHING. That explains the attitude of the employees to the customers. Rot starts at the top and works it way down. read more

I signed up for Yelp just to post this. It was my first time visiting the Chula Vista location a few weeks ago, when I was on my lunch break. I met up with a friend of mine and we entered the store so that he could purchase a coat. My first impression of Burlington was that of a regular sort of department store, but it was incredibly unkept. I even noticed an orange peel on the floor! Seeing as to how I wasn't there for me, and rather my friend, I didn't think anything of it since I wasn't planning on returning any time soon. When we reached the checkout counter and the transaction was completed, my friend and I then turned to leave. I then felt a sharp pain in my right foot and yelped an obscenity pretty loudly. When I looked down at my foot, one of the clothing sensors (used to protect theft in retail establishments, akin to a REALLY large tac) was stuck in my foot and shoe. I pulled it out and hopped to the seating area in shoes. I was bleeding. One associate- whom I presumed was the manager at the time, but turned out to be a lead, assisted me right away, as the store manager was at lunch at the time. She catered to my every need, and I was really thankful for that. I think her name was Stacy. She should be promoted. At first I didn't know that standard protocol for an accident was to fill out an accident report because nothing like that had ever happened to me before. And I also wasn't offered one. It wasn't until I returned to work after my break that I was told by one of my fellow associates. I was let go early from work so that I could resolve the issue. I filed a report and that was that. I requested to speak to the manager who was no longer in, so I decided to come back the following day. When I eventually was able to speak to the manager, she was incredibly rude while I tried to explain that I would like some sort of compensation or at least a tetnus shot. I don't have insurance, so I figured it wouldn't be too much to ask that I go through their provider. She essentially wrote me off and said they'd only be paying for the shot itself, and gave me no useful information after that. That was pretty much swept under the rug because I haven't heard word of anything involving a possible doctor's visit since. Luckily, I'm fine, and it looks as though it won't be necessary. When I requested to see the report filed on me, she said no, and that corporate would "contact me." When, I didn't know. I left that day with a bitter taste in my mouth, and knew that if the other associate who'd helped me initially after the accident was manager, this would've been resolved with no further incident quickly and efficiently. It wasn't until I received a call from the claims dept. a week or so later that I was offered a gift card for my troubles. Needless to say, I took advantage, and that'll be my last time at Burlington Coat Factory. I'm even dreading the thought of going back there now, but I'm not going to let free money sit around and burn a hole in my pocket. After that, I'm never going back. Manager was incredibly rude, albeit a few of the associates were really helpful, store was dirty, and on top of it all, I got hurt the first time I was shopping at their establishment. I had a horrible first and last experience at this location. I was looking for a winter coat, and was really excited about the price, which was marked at 39.99. As I went up to pay at the register the cashier expressed to me the price was 65.00. When I talked to the manger Patty or Cattie, she was rude, unconcerned, and tried to cover up her mistake with a lie. She offered the same jack in blue for the discount, but not the color I wanted. They were both marked the same ticket price and on the same rack sided by side. I started shopping at Burlington Coat Factory in NYC. The NY location was filled with designer and haute couture footwear and fashion brands. Chula Vista's Burlington leaves a lot to be desired, but I was surprised that there were a few select designer brands in footwear, including Coach, Charles David and Cole Haan. If you're looking for t-shirts or super casual wear, you might get lucky. Everything else is cheap and tawdry looking. The worse part about this store is its location within the mall. Couples bring trucks-filled-with-unruly kids, who run and scream throughout the mall like uncontrolled animals. This mall is a virtual zoo. read more

Absolutely Horrible. Their return policy is a scam. I bought a leather coat for $200 and immediately the coat started falling apart. The insulation started coming out of the coat spreading lint throughout the coat. So tried to return and they would not take it back (bought it 5 days prior) bc i tried it on. If I could give no stars I would. I went shopping with my friend yesterday and we were looking for a "going out" outfit. We were there for almost 2 hours because they had a lot to look through. I'll be honest, I'm black, so I've been profiled before. But let me say that I've never been in a store where they follow you in a way that is very uncomfortable for the customer. They even when so far as to have some cheap security guy walk up to the cashier and watch to make sure I paid for everything. Wth? I go to check out and they still believe I'm stealing.
