Burns Environmental Services are AMAZING!!!! They are a team of experts in remediation of YOU NAME IT (asbestos/mold/lead/demolition/biohazard cleanup/duct cleaning/ & other services). You don't realize the skill set, training, professionalism, & qualifications that Burns Environmental Services staff attain in order to provide the services in areas that require certification of mold removal, asbestos removal, lead abatement/removal....I had all three :( The demolition/demo, was gut wrenching, however, the feeling of making a right choice for my family was my concern, that the toxic environmental hazards were being removed & disposed of properly was my priority. The fact that Burns Environmental Services staff, came to my home to not only perform the labor intensive & skilled work that I could never perform, aside that I am not certified, they were punctual, reliable, dependable, answered every question (yes I had a lot of them :) They explained exactly their services what their procedure would entail at the initial consult, then again at the time of the phone call to confirm your appointment, and again when they arrive at your door. This was not only very reassuring, but I felt that they wanted to triple check they had the right customer, the right address, & the right scope of services performed for each customer. I'd like to add that I was highly impressed with the cleanliness of their work. Its kinda of an oxymoron, to think of demo work & the fact that the area when they leave is 'SPOTLESS!' This is after demo, or mold removal/abatement, or lead/asbestos removal/abatement. Those jobs are messy! However, when Burns Environmental Services leaves your home, the area they rendered services in ,is not only clean to the naked eye, but SMELLS clean. The professional treatments they applied on my walls/subfloors smelled a bit like the household cleaner, "Fabuloso!" :) I am beyond happy with the work performed. They helped my family in 2 major projects, and most likely we will have another one coming up. As a real estate agent myself in California, I am not only grateful, but will make sure that credit is given to this company, the staff, & everyone behind the scenes that I did not meet like at the corporate offices. And the price I paid was actually reasonable....most folks don't hire the "pros" because we always fear the cost. Other companies may charge you "more," for less quality work and you will not be pleased or you will not pass a post clearance test (as in my case which is why I switched). When you price shop, always compare the total services, for the price tag & the reviews of the company. These guys will not rip you off, they give you a detailed contract ahead of time specifying what you have requested, and you have a chance to add/remove services ahead of time. Our experience with Burns Environmental was absolutely abysmal. They were the most unprofessional, inept, poorly managed, and uncommunicative company we have ever had the misfortune of hiring. What was particularly striking was the complete lack of accountability and the almost unapologetic attitude when serious problems arose. At the helm of this entire debacle was Mark, whose management of our project created unnecessary chaos at virtually every turn. Communication was nearly nonexistent unless we initiated it. Throughout the project, we repeatedly had to chase him down for basic information, answers, scheduling, and clarification about hazardous-material work taking place in our home. On day one of the asbestos abatement, there was a breach in the containment, resulting in an asbestos containment leak in our home. For a company whose very purpose is to safely contain and remove hazardous materials, having a containment breach on the first day immediately and understandably destroyed our confidence in their ability to manage the project safely. Following that incident, we made it unequivocally clear that no further work would occur without independent oversight from our environmental specialist. Mark subsequently attempted to move forward with work without that oversight. Rather than recognizing the magnitude of what had occurred, taking responsibility, and making every effort to restore our confidence, Mark seemed almost put off by our insistence that the work be handled properly and safely. Astonishingly, he characterized us as "difficult." We were not being difficult; we were responding to a serious containment failure that occurred on the very first day under his management. The lack of care continued through the end of the project. Their dehumidification equipment was left sitting in a tub of standing water. Equipment intended to control moisture and facilitate drying should not itself be left sitting in water.yet another demonstration of the same lack of attention to basic environmental and safety conditions that concerned us throughout this project. Demanding proper asbestos containment is not being difficult. Requiring independent environmental oversight after a containment breach is not being difficult. Expecting communication, competent management, basic safety precautions, and accountability when something goes seriously wrong is the absolute minimum standard of professionalism. What was already an extraordinarily stressful situation was made exponentially worse by Mark's handling of the project. We would never hire Burns Environmental again and cannot recommend them. When a company is entrusted with hazardous-material abatement inside someone's home, competence, communication, safety, and accountability should be non-negotiable. In our experience, Burns Environmental failed spectacularly to meet those standards. read more

The on-site workers at Burns did an excellent job. They were professional, attentive, and made sure my project passed clearance on the first test. I also appreciated the care they took with my property and the overall quality of their work. However, my experience with the office side was less positive. The project took longer than expected, and I had to follow up with the salesperson due to what appeared to be insufficient staffing on-site. Additionally, I received an invoice before the teardown was completed, and the final steps were only finished after I raised the issue. Overall, I would consider working with Burns again because of the strong performance of their field team. That said, I would ensure that clearer performance expectations and timelines are outlined in the contract beforehand. read more

He provided us with a clear cost estimate and step-by-step orientation to the asbestos removal process that was required -- and scheduled the work to commence the following morning. The skilled team that completed the work, led by Tony's experience and thoughtfulness in support of our many unique needs that day, were very thorough in handling the many safety-related aspects of the job. Burns environmental came in after I had a flood in my house which damaged 90% of the property. Sadly it was built in the 70's and tested positive for asbestos so Burns Environmental came in to clean it up. The good news in this entire situation was that Jeff and his team took care of me and the property. Jeff was professional and helpful with explaining every step of the process (my first time going through this situation).They were quick and thorough with the removal of the asbestos materials and kept in good communication throughout the job. This was key because this is a rental unit. This helped me get a contractor in there ahead of schedule and I am one step closer to returning the property back to its original state. Reviewed the mold report, assessed our situation and assured me that his team would be able to re-mediate our mold issue. Not only was he responsive to every one of my phone calls but he took the time to explain all my concerns as well as the process and how long it would take. The team was not evasive to our home and they kept everything nice and tidy. And, they stuck to the timeline that I was told. I found out that my home had some asbestos tiling in it and my insurance told me I had to have it removed by a licensed place. I called a few places and Burns was the first to get back to me. I spoke with Dan in the office and then Fernando called me and set up a meeting. He was efficent, professional and quick to have someone out to take care of things for me.
