Cornbread Bites & Chocolate Toffee Cookies Two 2 Meat Platter w/ fries & baked beans Three Little Pigs Platter

Thanks to Restaurant week we finally made out to the DeSoto location. People are friendly, server was young but knew her stuff, & the restaurant was very clean. We ordered the Three Little Pigs, while the flavors were good the only thing that wasn't overcooked or super fatty was the pulled pork; also got the 2 Meat Platter, I chose turkey and pulled pork and enjoyed both but the pork was definitely the star. Both meals included a drink and chocolate chip toffee cookies. We heard the brisket was worthwhile so we'll be back to try it and more pulled pork

Vibrant and bustling lunch service offering a quick and delicious option in De Soto, KS. Located in an old Burger King, the dining room and bar is light and airy with lots of natural light. They were having a bit of an issue with AC dripping in the dining room and was fortunately, not over a patron's head. I ordered the smoked turkey Cobb salad and should have probably known better than to order a salad at a BBQ restaurant. There aren't a ton of lighter options and the salad was disappointing for $14. It was on the smaller side and came out with no avocado, no bacon, and the wrong salad dressing. The smoked turkey was delicious and I should've just gotten it on a sandwich with a side salad, will know for next time. My husband got the burnt end nachos, a Thursday special, and was very pleased. Will go back for their happy hour sometime soon.

They brought us out complimentary cornbread bites, yum!

We noticed this BBQ stop on our way to KC and thought we'd give it a try. We both ordered brisket and for sides we got: French fries, onion rings, a salad (cranberry vinaigrette for dressing) and mixed vegetables. Everything was delicious. I think we'd need to come back to give it a fair review as we weren't too, too hungry since we were coming from a movie and had eaten lots of popcorn (oops)

Coming from Texas to try the BBQ but also the southwest spin on many dishes. I gotta say the fact it is inside an old Burger King should have been my first red flag. the bathrooms 5' from the bar where you can hear and smell what goes on inside while you eat/drink should have been the second red flag. But the MARINARA SAUCE as salsa is the end all. You absolutely can not give a Texan pureed marinara (there is no mistaking italian marinara sauce) as salsa with corn chips and think you wont get a comment. i am upset by that on a strangely personal level i didnt expect from myself. If it was paired with garlic cheese bread i would be happier. there was no chopped onion, cilantro, hot peppers of any kind or anything other than tomato. in fact i pulled out tomato seeds (seeds are removed from romas when making salsa any southerner knows this) and many seeds were sprouted. you dont eat tomato plants the plant part so sprouted seeds in "salsa" are a no-go. they cause stomach upset. the burnt end nachos were very light on meat and the burnt ends were not cripsy but just some pork shreds. it was juicy enough so it was ok. there was literally one spoonful of picante on my whole thing of nachos. untoasted corn chips got super soggy quickly so half was just not good to eat. Over all extremely disappointed. place looked clean and staff was friendly. spaciaous parking lot but inside is limited space for how big the parking lot is. no hot beverages which to me is weird for a full bar. most bars at least have one bad black coffee option..no sobering up here.

I go here about every other month and every time it's a great experience. It's quiet enough to where you can easily have conversations but not too quiet where it's awkward. I've never been to the other burnt ends in KC but this one has a small-town vibe to it. The food here is great and I always feel full for the rest of the day when I go here for lunch. I recommend any of the bowls and a side of cornbread. The servers are always fun to talk to and are attentive. It also has outside games and picnic tables if you want to hang out there.

JT's Grill is smack in the middle of the legacy part of DeSoto and you can't miss it along the main road north of K-10. Regional, local, and other sports memorabilia lines the walls of the bar & dining room. There's is seating both inside & out (in good weather) and it's fairly spacious. The menu is essentially bar & grille fare with daily specials mixed in, and you can always get a solid meal & a drink for a reasonable price. Plus there is generally sportsball of some variety on the TVs, so stop in if for nothing more than to cheer on the home team. If you don't do one of their daily specials, then I would suggest the pork tenderloin, which is hand-breaded and pounded flat. My first trip was with my teenage son who loves ribs. We went for their unbeatable Wednesday/Saturday $18 full rack rib special. We shared the ribs and still had plenty left to take home. The meat was tender, smoky, and perfectly cooked. The BBQ beans were outstanding with just the right balance of smokiness and sweetness, and the seasoned crinkle-cut fries were addictive. This past weekend I brought the whole family of five. We're longtime regulars at KC Joe's, so I was a little nervous about a potential mutiny , but everyone loved it! My wife's face lit up the moment we walked in. She said it felt like a cozy restaurant we'd stumble upon while on vacation. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming with plenty of comfortable booths, warm lighting, and that perfect smoky BBQ aroma that hits you right when you enter. I went with the sausage and brisket combo, and it easily holds its own against most of the BBQ I grew up eating in Texas. One child ordered the kid's hot dog meal, and it was one of the best hot dogs I've tasted. Another got the brisket "Sloppy Mess" sandwich, and my wife had the shredded pork sandwich. Every single plate was a hit, and the whole family agreed we've found a new favorite. The owner was incredibly friendly and took the time to chat with us about how he opened the restaurant. It's always great to see that kind of passion! My only feedback is that I wish they stayed open a bit later. They close at 7pm on Sundays and 8pm the rest of the week. With a 20-minute drive from Overland Park and a family of five to wrangle, we could roll up right around closing time. A little extra time would make it perfect which I anticipate will happen the more people discover them. All in all, J's BBQ has officially earned a regular spot in our weekly rotation. If you're in the area and craving quality BBQ in a family-friendly setting, do yourself a favor and check it out!

It's a lovely restaurant. It seems a bit out of the way with mostly corporate buildings around. The restaurant has a nice modern aesthetic. I like the purple hyacinths hanging from the ceiling in one area. It was very steady for an off time in the afternoon. First, our server Olivia was amazing! Very attentive and we were extra needy this day so I really appreciate her patience. We even dropped food on the floor. Oops! She was so nice about it and cleaned it up immediately. We had customizations and extra requests. No problem for her! She went above and beyond. I hope she sees this because she was such a joy! The food was also very good. We started with the biscuits and one peach compote and one blueberry. Both were yummy. They were traditional drop biscuits and I love a good biscuit! We also had an order of fried green tomatoes on goat cheese grits. You get 4 very large slices. I could only eat one. The grits were yummy but there were not enough of them in relation to the friend green tomatoes. They were also encased by a sauce. I'm guessing a remoulade. I don't really care for remoulade sauce so I'd have removed it had I known it came with the dish. It really overpowered the goat cheese taste in the grits. The tomatoes were very al dente and I would have preferred them cooked a bit more. The dish was still good but my least favorite and I would normally love anything with those ingredients and fried green tomatoes are a favorite so the remoulade (or whatever it was) sauce was a real problem for me. I would definitely get them again without the sauce because they are great otherwise. But that sauce just overpowers every other flavor! I got the chicken tender dinner and others in my party got the bone in fried chicken. Everyone liked their chicken. The tenders were a big size. 4 of them but I hit 2 meals out of them. Everyone liked the Parmesan rosemary potatoes. I really liked the bacon green beans. The only side we weren't impressed with was the Mac and cheese unfortunately. The cheese was not good. We got coffees and a chai. All of them were very good. A bit pricey for the amount you get though. Even with the smaller complaints, I'd still give th a 5 because of the outstanding service and the dishes were overall very good and large portions. We will definitely return and I hope to try out a breakfast item next visit!

This was the start of my love affair that still runs hot today. Excluding mom and pop restaurants, Jersey Mikes is by far the best of all chain restaurants. Jersey Mikes located off in Olathe was my first ever experience with the chain and forever etched it into my favorite chain for Subs! The hallmark of any great subshop is first quality meats and secondly them slice them to order. While a lot of shops now slice their own meats and cheeses, I believe Jersey Mikes was the first chain to do so (check me on that if wrong but I worked at Subway in the 90s and we didn't). With this info always in my mind, I'm always confident that no matter what Jersey Mikes I go to, it will be consistent and the way I like it, b/c I always order in person)! Next, they do bake their bread so another huge win in my book as most just proof up frozen bread which is devoid of the little touches. Finally, the owner was there and was an extremely friendly guy and genuinely excited to take my order! I admit, I'm a cold sub fiend and you can keep the hot subs (sorry Philly). I've literally had every one of their subs but I hold true to the original Italian. Every time I get mine, it's literally a salad on bread. A little bit of onion, lots of lettuce, tomatoes, a couple pickles, 2 japs, S&P, Oregano, lots of mayo, lots of oil, a bit of vinegar but I wish they had olives..... Mine is perfection, brought on by my countless visits and endless tinkering. Good thing I don't work there! My kids got the ham and swiss with just mayo. Granted they're young but I'm not going to argue with them if they're happy. As for the Xwife (sorry a slight lag in writing this) she got the turkey & cheese with mayo, lettuce and tomato. While she didn't die..... she did love the sub (sorry dark humor there). It was our go to spot for many years. Also note they used to serve pizza! That's correct, they were one of 3 pilot Jersey Mike's to serve pizza in addition to the subs. I'll be the first to admit, I thought it was pretty darn good and smart to combine the two American favorites. Alas they no longer serve pizza so you'll just have to opt for one of the many other options (my advice is Detroit style with Italian sausage, onions, tomatoes, olives). Back to the point the whole family was happy. In summary, the store is very clean and safe, while the staff are very nice. Admittedly if you've been to one Jersey Mike's you've basically been to them all. So, I'm basically here saying the say thing as a repeated record as I've lived all over the place and travel frequently. This store is on par with all other locations so shop in confidence you'll get the best sub around!
