Really tasty food at a local BYO joint. We had hoped to eat outside, which is lovely adjacent to a nice green space, but rain had other plans. The vibe inside was okay. It is small and the music choice left something to be desired. But our servers were incredibly attentive and kind, and the food was fast, fresh, hot, and delicious. Love that the kitchen is visible and open concept, in a small space. Food: starting with bread for the table is always a nice touch! And the crusty bread worked beautifully to mop up the amazing mussel broth, which was our favorite dish. Highlights of the menu were the NY strip w/ broccolini, and the mussels! Lobster ravioli in blush sauce was also very good. Potatoes served with the steak were meh. We found this little gem, tucked away in a little neighborhood off the main road, and all I can say is Wow, what a find! I would pick highlights from our meal, but they were all excellent. The burrata is rich and creamy, with thin slices of prosciutto to make a perfect bite. The mussels come in a rich, flavorful broth that is complex and not heavy. We saved it to dip in on throughout our meal. The meatballs were most and flavorful, in a beautiful marinara sauce. Oh, and the salmon carpaccio with sliced fennel and greens in a light, citrus dressing was divine! The gnocchi were light and fluffy, in an amazing sauce. It was like eating little pillows of potatoes. The pasta in the special fettuccine, was light and delicate, unlike any I've had before. Finally, the shrimp ravioli we're cooked to perfection, and once again, an amazing sauce. In fact, all of the sauces were amazing. It would be unfair to single one out as better than the others. The food was good and the restaurant itself was cute, but the value was not there. The rigatoni bolognese was $26 and each of my friends finished their plates in about 5 minutes. Not nearly enough for the price. The Caesar salad was overpriced as well at $16 for a regular side plate size (no chicken). The buratta appetizer was excellent and made a little more sense for the $18 price. In all- I think it's worth trying if you're in the area, but I would not return. It felt like the prices were high to make up for the fact that they are byob. On the bright side- there was no corking fee. read more

This spot was very lively. When you open the door, you enter directly into the restaurant which has a small dining room that's extremely loud with the kitchen and the dining room. The service was good. The gentleman that served us was only there for one day helping out he did not know a lot about the menu, but we were able to navigate through it. He started by telling us the specials of the house, but then said they might not be available. This is slightly offputting, especially since you didn't know when you told us. That being said we started out with the beat salad. Which came with fresh roasted beats. The salad was good slowly underdressed but still good. We did order the one special, which was the pasta with the Burata and prosciutto. This pasta was in a white cream like sauce that was extremely salty. Despite that it had good flavor, but the saltiness took away from the overall dish. We also opted for the gnocchi with peas, which was in a vodka, cream sauce. We ate relatively quickly partially because we couldn't even hear ourselves think with the volume of the restaurant. They do have noise barriers on the ceiling, but they don't seem to help with the volume. What is nice about this restaurant is the service was good, the menu is small, but there are options and best of course BYO. If you're local, it's probably a great spot convenient to walk to parking is a beast in this part of town. We probably aren't gonna run back to this restaurant. We might just walk slow slowly. Because we now live so close here, we don't go as often as we should. Given the neighborhood, there is a plethora of Italian restaurants, but Burrata is awesome because it's BYO and open on Mondays. Their pasta is always perfect, and they always have a lot of rotating specials that are always interesting - heavy with seafood, which we like. This corner restaurant is conveniently located at the corner of 13 and Wharton by the park. Reservation is highly recommended. We went there on a Friday night and it was busy. There's not much space among the tables because of the limited space. Service was standard, our waiter was checking on us to see if the orders were correct and everything was good. Complimentary Italian bread has nice crust. It's soft and soaking the balsamic and olive oil. Appetizer: special brussel sprouts with ricotta. The brussel sprouts are charred and has a hint of lemon, drizzled with sweet fig balsamic. It's a winner. Entree I picked special sea bass. Nice crispy skin served with purée butter nut squash with some carrots, drizzled with mustard. The fish is nicely cooked. In my opinion, the mustard is not necessarily needed. It doesn't go well with the dish as a whole. Gnocchi with cremini mushrooms and pancetta. Unfortunately, the mushrooms are too salty. The good part is the gnocchi just melts in your mouth as it goes s made fresh. Scallops and risotto: beautiful plating. Three scallops are nestled on top of bright yellow risotto against the backdrop of black plate. Very eye catching. Dessert: pistachio gelato, it's decent. It can be shared if you're not into sweets. Gnocchi with crab was very tender and pillowy but rather light on jumbo lump crab for the price. Bolognese dish was good but the rigatoni was more than al dente. Milanese and orecchiette also nice. For my first meal at Burrata, I ordered the ravioli, which came stuffed with porcini mushrooms. The pasta was cooked perfectly and was topped with a rich cream sauce and sun-dried tomatoes. The dusting of bread crumbs added a light crunch to each bite. The complimentary sesame seed-covered bread and olive oil was a perfect precursor to the entree. I loved the quaint, intimate interior. I had a reservation for Burrata last December but then I unexpectedly went out of town on the day I had the reservation. Didn't make it here until this week... I've totally been missing out. Burrata is an awesome restaurant. We got the octopus carpaccio app - loved this. Also got the burrata app bc you gotta get that at a place named Burrata. Loved this one too. My bf got the swordfish which he said was awesome. I got the kale pesto w burrata for my main course. I liked it a lot but also would prob order something diff next time - also it was a lot of food and my bf had to finish my last few bites. For dessert - we split the tiramisu. It tasted just like the tiramisu my late Italian grandfather made in the 1980s. Brought back so many happy memories. I would eat this again in a heartbeat. Heard about this spot on Abbott Elementary only to find out it hasn't been around for that long! Burrata is a small restauarant filled with comfort and Italian flair. The service was exceptional, as they are kind, informative and efficient. It's a little hard to hear the person across the table as it can get loud and the kitchen is in near vicinity. I got the scallops with saffron rice and was super impressed. The scallops were big pieces, juicy and cooked to perfection! Another successful dining experience, this time with my parents who can be picky eaters. Of course we started with the burrata, as one always should considering it's the restaurant namesake. They were surprised by how each dish had such prevalent flavors. We had the pork chop, lamb rigatoni, chicken Milanese, and seafood stufato. My husband asked for a pasta side for the chicken and that was almost better than the rigatoni. Our server was knowledgeable and attentive as we had an odd amount of utensil slips to the floor lol The limoncello, coconut sorbet, and hazelnut gelato were a great finish to the meal. A strong overall experience at a Philadelphia institution (apparently?). I see Burrata as an amalgamation of different things. Different smaller experiences that come together to form an overall far greater one. My relationship with Italian food is weird, in that I find most of it good, but very few places as truly "great". This was a place that I thought had good Italian food. But the service, ambiance, hospitality, and just general vibes really elevated it to something really memorable and great. I first about it from Abbott Elementary (shout-out to Greg) and they made it sound like a Philadelphia institution and my friend said it's been on her list forever, so we had to go. It's a nice small cozy place at a quiet corner in south Philly. Very chill atmosphere there and absolutely perfect spot for a date (don't worry ladies, the person I was there with is just a friend). We were seated and the host immediately came over to attend to our water needs and explain the specials. Very friendly and accommodating man, as he offered to substitute in the potatoes for the chicken Milanese because we had already ordered a burrata as an app. The burrata with peppers and prosciutto was very good, as was the fresh bread. The eggplant Parm however really impressed me, as I usually am not the biggest fan of eggplant, but this was very smooth and not too smoky. For my main, I got the chicken Milanese. Good and crispy, with a wonderful caponata of Italian veggies underneath. It's funny, the parts of the meal I enjoyed most were the ones I didn't expect to. The fried potatoes were also excellent. Last but not least, a beautiful slice of tiramisu cake. It was good, but I think I'm more of a fan of traditional tiramisu that's heavier on the cream and using ladyfingers as a base. My party of four came to Burrata to kick-off the Holiday week. We had a reservation and the table was ready for us as soon as we arrived. It's a small restaurant, but they keep the heat high and so it stayed warm inside even when customers were coming and going. The service was fantastic. Very warm and accommodating as we waited for our fourth to arrive. Of note, you are asked to order your appetizers and entrees at the same time, but they are not served at the same time. The server promptly brought over an ice bucket for our white wine and there was no corkage fee. The food was served promptly, and the runner was efficient. For appetizers, we ordered the Octopus Carpaccio and Red Golden Beets. Both were delicious, and the octopus was very thinly sliced and served over greens. For the main portion of the meal, we ordered 2 chicken Milanese and 2 pastas- orecchiette and spaghetti. All four dishes were fantastic and not overly rich. Even the spaghetti which had a cream sauce, felt relatively light, as compared with other preparations. For dessert we ordered Tiramisu, which had strong taste of cocoa powder and of course was delicious. Some of my foodie friends were in town so after scouring the Internet we landed on Burrata. A small spot, but what it lacks in size it makes up for in flavor. The menu had so much to offer and the specials sounded amazing. They had artichoke heart, a Diablo seafood pasta, and some sort of fish in addition to the menu. I had to order the Burrata because if that's their name I must try! It was very fresh with sautéed peppers and balsamic glaze. It's a simple but delicious. I love this restaurant so much! I had been before in the Before times and had a really lovely pappardelle and gnocchi shared with my beau, but we recently went back with family and I had another lovely gnocchi from the specials. It was a spinach gnocchi with shrimp and crab meat with a blush sauce and I ate the whole freaking thing. I wanted more. And the waitstaff are so nice and hardworking and appreciative that my dinner was the first time I felt "normal" in the last 19 months. I have to come back to try the ravioli before their menu changes over but I can't explain enough how much I love fancy Italian food and how much Burrata absolutely knocks it out of the park. Wow. Another stunner. And reaffirmed by my mother, who has spent her life cooking excellent meals in which I compare to most of the foods I review in terms of standard. I took my visiting family here to the place that honestly left me questioning whether I truly deferred against Italian food. If she was technically capable to use Yelp, I have no doubt that this would be one of her few 5 stars. We had the Wagyu Meatballs, Cauliflower, Geniche, and my favorite Gnocchi. I've spoken previously about some of these dishes, so I will keep it short here. I just wanted to reemphasize that if you're looking for places to eat, PLEASE come here. Burrata, a beauty within itself, made the opening minutes an enjoyable time with fresh cheese that combined beautifully with the meat. Wagyu Meatballs - 10/10. I've had it in Little Italy in Chicago at a little place called Tuscany's (shout-out to my chi-town people), and it was on0par if not better in terms of portions and price. Taste-wise, it melted in my mouth with an amazing sauce that left me using my spoon to scrape up as much as I could. Another dish that I hadn't tried before was the cauliflower. I have to be honest here, it wasn't my favorite. The vinegar made it an interesting taste that I haven't tried before with Cauliflower, but it left a lot to be desired and felt a bit overpriced for a typically cheaper vegetable to get (sorry owners! Just not my fan favorite.) Service again, amazing and attentive. Went to Burrata sat 9/16 to have dinner before going to see Peter Gabriel at wells Fargo Center. The dinner was fabulous!!! Had the Burrata appetizer, beets salad. Both delicious 2 entres 1 was the gnocchi with truffle mushrooms and brandy cream sauce and was the best I ever had. My friend had the sea bass fish special with risotto and also excellent. I had limecello cake which was excellent and she had crem Brule also excellent.
