Yet another incredible family meal on Christmas Eve at La Sera! Caesar salad to start followed by delicious rigatoni a la vodka w prosicutto and peas, spaghetti and meatballs, ever massive chicken parm, and linguine pescatore! Great service, and very warm and cozy for the holidays!

So good!! I'm so glad I tried a new dish for lunch. The Chicken Milanese was excellent. I could eat that every day. A chilli environment and solid service. We will be back

    RAVIOLI ROSA

Food was pretty solid. I enjoyed the ravioli rosa but bruschetta was a little pricey for two pieces. My sister got the gnocchi but felt the gorgonzola flavor and texture just didn't hit. I have to give 2 stars for the service. We made a reservation and came in a few minutes before. The hostess was standing away from the front so we waited a bit until we were greeted. Upon informing her of our reservation, she grabbed menus and walked off without saying a word so we just followed her. A bit rude and awkward as she didn't even offer any welcome or smile. We placed our orders and received the bruschetta. I ate my portion and my sister wanted to eat hers with the rest of our food so we waited. And waited. Upon noticing other diners who came AFTER us receive both their apps AND entrees, we flagged down the very nice busboy (why i'm giving 2 stars not 1) and asked about our entrees. Our waiter came over and said that he thought we were still working on our apps so they didn't serve it which seemed weird because other people received their entrees while still working on their apps. Our food came quickly after we spoke, but with no apology for the inconvenience. Upon leaving, the same hostess said thank you but as if hurrying us out the door. Will not be returning!

As an Entree enthusiast, I booked my dinner reservation at La Sera Italiana mostly out of nostalgia. A touch of morbid curiosity too - can my fond memories of this space be tainted by a possibly mediocre meal? Thankfully, my worries were for naught. I came here for NYE and was happy to find the quirky decor of Entree replaced with a sleek new paint job and cute cozy holiday touches. The enticing pre fixe menu made it hard to choose, so we asked our server for recommendations and he enthusiastically described how everything is homemade. My group of three landed on: burrata, calamari and Caesar salad; filet mignon and squid ink linguini; three tiramisu. Everything was well cooked and seasoned well. I use Caesar salad as a gauge of a restaurant and it was punchy with just the right amount of cheese and dressing. The calamari was light and the spicy marinara did not taste like it was out of the jar, I kept coming back for more. The filet mignon was cooked well - surprisingly tender and moist even with how lean it is. I did wish it came with some sort of mashed potato to counter the beefiness. The squid ink linguini was flavorful and light - not overpowering with the seafood flavors. The lobster tail on top was GIGANTIC. It was a showstopper and was very tender. The tiramisu was delicate and a perfect pallet cleanser. The portions across the board were generous and we packed a lot to go. The service was warm, attentive. My water cup was never empty for too long. The food came out at a good pace. I'm so happy to recommend this place, revisit a space that I love, and make new food memories.

    Shrimp PENNE SCAMPI

The pasta was ok but I felt the sauce wasn't that special. I really like that the shrimp was charred though and it added a depth of flavor to the pasta. They are BYOB and there's outdoor seating so it's nice to come on a warmer day to enjoy dinner. I specially liked the calamari the best because it was crispy and hot when we received it. The service was also very kind because there were no seats outdoors when we arrived but the host was very accommodating and allowed us to wait for the next table even though we had a specific reservation time slot.

    RIGATONI BOLOGNESE

Overall, my meal and service at La Sera Italiana were good. I'd give it a solid 3.5, so I am rounding up to 4 for Yelp. I have to be honest, I miss Entree, which used to occupy this location. We decided to make a somewhat last-minute (in my opinion) dinner reservation with a couple of friends. We made the reservation on Tuesday for the Thursday of that same week and had no trouble getting a table for four. La Sera is a BYO, so we brought plenty of wine with us. We ordered the calamari, bruschetta, and burrata to start. The calamari was good, but very heavily fried. The burrata itself was delicious, but the peaches were not ripe so they were crunchy. It felt like eating burrata with apples, not peaches. My favorite appetizer was the bruschetta. It was season really well and the bread was well toasted. For entrees, I had the rigatoni bolognese. I didn't realize they put pepper flakes in the dish so it came out with more of a kick than I was expecting. I'm not a huge spice girl so I would've preferred to know that ahead of time. Overall, I would go back but I wouldn't put it at the top of my list. With so many good Italian options in the city, there are other places I'd pick first.

My partner and I visited La Sera Italiana on a weekday during restaurant week. Our experience was overall great - the food was delicious, the service was great, and the restaurant itself was very cute. The caeser salad was delicious and the homemade sauce was a highlight of the evening for me. For the main course, I had the penne alla vodka, which was prepared perfectly. My partner really enjoyed his branzino and had great things to say about the white wine sauce.

Fantastic new BYOB on South Street: from its cozy interior to its impeccable service to its delicious food. After uncorking some wine and starting to nibble on the warm, table bread (served with olive oil and balsamic vinegar for dipping), we started our dinner off with a round of appetizers: 1. Bruschetta (fresh ricotta cheese, cherry tomatoes, basil, olive oil, balsamic reduction), which seemed to have something magical going on--perhaps something special rubbed along the top of the toasted bread before the toppings went on... 2. Calamari Fritti (calamari, shrimp, baby octopus, peppers, carrots, spicy marinara), which was perfectly seasoned, crispy, and served with a delicious (not that spicy) marinara. 3. Burrata salad (peaches, heirloom tomatoes, olive oil, balsamic reduction)--loved the arugula, the bitterness of which counterbalanced the sweet peaches and tomatoes. A lover of Linguini Vongole (clams, parsley, garlic white wine sauce), I had to give it a go, and La Sera Italiana did not disappoint--the linguini was al dente and the dish was served piping hot. Fellow diners had the Chicken Parmigiana (breaded chicken cutlet, fresh mozzarella, marinara sauce), the Pasta Special (homemade tricolore fettucine, shrimp, mussels, cherry tomatoes, creamy pink sauce), and the Ravioli Rosa (homemade lobster ravioli, crab meat, spinach, creamy rose sauce). We finished the meal with Espresso and a Creme Brûlée to share. Zero complaints and smiles all around--will definitely be back!

    Truffle burrata
    Alise R.

We had a really great meal here last night and I will be back to eat here. The place is really cute and the doors/window were open so we had a really nice breeze while we ate. The specials of the day were fantastic. We ordered the truffle burrata. If you see this on the special list get it. Bc it was soooo good! I ordered the veal rolls for my meal and it was good. But the real star was the 20 oz veal chop which was really like a 48 oz veal chop. My pic doesn't do it justice - bc the thing was about 2" thick and also longer than the large plate. I was offered a bite and it was sooo good. We were too full to eat dessert. Our server was also great. Overall it was a nice meal and we will be back!!

    PENNE VODKA
    Lauren D.

I ordered penne in vodka sauce and the sauce was decent but the pea's and prosciutto in it were not cooked properly. They were still raw. The bread it came with was a huge portion but not good bread. Tasted a little stale too. I expected this to be better based on the rating on yelp and on uber eats but this was mid at best... would not order this again or dine there personally.

Amazing experience! Had the pasta special which was whole wheat pappardelle and shrimp with mussels in a creamy rose sauce - delicious! Pro tip, have a bite of mussels with each bite of pasta! You need the briny bit. Also had the veal ripieno so delicious! The Demi glade was so luscious. We started with the calamari and pilpo (octopus with cannellini beans) - both excellent. Try the calamari in the bread oil. So yummy, such a lovely evening!

    LINGUINI VONGOLE

Good place to hang out with friends after work, very relaxing vibe. Fast service and you can bring BYOB as well. The mushroom appetite is very good. You can eat the sauce with the bread. Broccolini rabe as a side dish is a decent size. I'm sure the broccolini rabe with sausage will taste amazing as well. Chicken masala is very flavorful.

I actually celebrated my birthday here last year and this place is always a hit, never a miss! We started with the cucumber and tomato salad and the country bread, and what a delicious combination! We also ordered a side of olive oil, and they seriously have some of the best olive oil I've had in a while. I definitely recommend getting some on the side to dip your country bread in. Trust me! We paired everything with a pitcher of sangria, which gives you about four drinks and was much more economical than ordering individual cocktails. I finally tried the chicken Parmesan, and boy, am I kicking myself for not trying it sooner! The chicken breast was thick, juicy, moist, and perfectly crunchy. Some places make their chicken Parm so thin that it barely feels like you're eating chicken, but this was an actual substantial piece of chicken with the perfect bite. Our waitress told me I could swap out the pasta and sauce that normally come with the chicken Parmesan, so of course I did! I got the rigatoni with vodka sauce, and it was DELIGHTFUL. The portion was massive, so I took leftovers home and yes, I absolutely ate them the very next day! My fiancé got the branzino and wanted something lighter so he could help me with the rigatoni. His plate was beautifully presented, the fish tasted incredibly fresh, and it was exactly what he wanted. Overall, we had another wonderful experience. This restaurant will always hold a special place in our hearts, and we'll definitely be back! A special shoutout to our waitress, who was absolutely delightful and told me I could change the pasta and sauce with my chicken Parmesan. You changed my life! You have no idea how happy you made me. The service was good, but there was a wait both times we strolled by (Sunday and Tuesday), so would recommend making a res. The only caveat is that I would not recommend coming here with a party larger than 4 people, the restaurant is very small and rustic and can't fit a larger party. It was fine for us as we were able to push some outside tables together (and it was a beautiful evening), but I do wish we could have sat inside.

The whole dish tasted homey, like what you would get at an Italian family's house. The veal braciocle was small, and I wished there was more protein and less pasta to be more balanced. For dessert, everyone raved about their gelato. Their pistachio flavor was clearly a favorite, as it had intense fresh pistachio flavor. It was also tan in color, as you would expect a pistachio nut to be, not the artificial green color added to other pistachio gelatos. I had the amaretto cherry flavor. It was good too, although I wished it had more cherries. A few people got their espresso, and really enjoyed it. They roast their own coffee on-site, so I am not surprised again how fresh it tasted. Tip: Pour a little of their fantastic coffee over your gelato to make your own fresh affogato. I came here with a large group and despite the tight space, we felt cozy. Service was spectacular. I love this European feel. Up first, I had a $17 El Noe. I was hoping for a strong burnt mezcal taste, but nope. It seems like only Florida gets this drink right. The drink wasn't bad at all, but I was just looking for that burnt taste. I also had a $18 Dirty Pasta Water Martini, basically a dirty martini. It was fine, but it came in a micro grass which was kind of weird. Clearly this isn't a place you come for cocktails. Now, onto the star of the night, the food. Up first, the $16 Spring Salad. Loved it, hit the spot. Also, had the $17 Arancini. I really liked those little balls and especially the dipping sauce. I had the $26 Rigatoni. It was absolutely phenomenal. I could go eat it every day. My mom had the $24 Tonnarelli and it was also top tier excellent. The flavors, the atmosphere, the staff, everything here is top notch. The Internet did not let me down. I'm so glad I decided to book this restaurant. I had a wonderful night.

The antipasti we chose the crudo was not my style of sashimi pairing. They added a fish with something even more oily/heavy so it just made everything heavy and not light and fresh which I prefer. The rigatoni honestly was way too salty for my taste. With the focaccia that's mid...it was less salty. The rumps seasonal pasta was delicious and fresh tasting! The service however is amazing and the server gave the great rec of the seasonal rumps pasta!

My typical review would go a lot differently, but Vetri Cucina is different...so their review…read moreshould reflect the absolutely incredible experience that dining in this gorgeous establishment provides. We have had the great fortune of dining here multiple times. What sets this particular establishment apart from other dining experiences we have had in Philly is their attention to...everything. From the flatware to the glasses to the greeting, service, and knowledge of their food...the dining journey you embark upon is unparalleled. When we arrived, our waiter, Eric, greeted us warmly. We have had the pleasure of meeting Eric on many occasions. Why is Eric so special? He knew our names. Remembered our conversations. Recommended items based on our previous dining habits. He provided interesting details about the products. Explained why and how dishes were created in the manner they chose, and frequently checked back to ensure our meal was as magical as we hoped. Chef Vetri came out to warmly greet us and thank us for returning. Maybe some would see that as a small gesture, but to us...it made us feel important and valued. For such a talented souls to take time to say hello, knowing how much it had meant to us on prior visits, underscores their attention to detail and service. It was appreciated beyond words. One of the hostesses, Diana, also made sure to check up on us. She asked questions based on prior conversations, she laughed and joked with us about life and home ownership. She sought out my wife to say hello when Rachel had stepped away for a moment. The exceptional steps the staff took to ensure our night was a step above others was clearly notable. We couldn't have been more appreciative of all of the efforts of the entire restaurant. We walked away feeling on top of the world...if only for a few short hours. The restaurant itself is such a warm, hospitable environment...how can you beat a rustic row home in Center City on a cozy Friday evening? The decor is inviting and familiar...like walking into a family's living room. It's quaint, it's beautiful, and it certainly pays homage to the heritage of the city. As for the food...that's the easiest part to review. There wasn't a misstep on our plates. From the oyster amuse bouche, with a horseradish crema that stayed in your chest just long enough to tell you hello but not hot enough to tell you it's a bad night, to the molten pistachio cake....the menu took us on a winter/spring journey a ride at Disney plant replicate. The gnocchi with black trumpet mushroom and smoked goat with polenta were my stars. Rachel loved the foie gras and wagyu. But really...what can beat the spinach gnocchi or the tortellini or the onion crepe or the....younger the point. The attention to detail, blending of flavors, and notes that accentuate one another is unrivaled in this city. Yes, it's that good. I can't thank the staff and Chef enough for providing us with a night we will not soon forget. Five stars was a no brainer. Simply the best place to eat in the city, hands

Secondi: duck breast 3.5/5 a lot saltier than i expected and i've had salty duck before. it was ok would not get again but it was cooked very well. american waygu 3.5/5, good but basic, what you would expect. Dolci: the dessert was a bit disappointing, Ricotta cheesecake and chocolate budino were both 2.5-3/5, would recommend trying their other desserts instead. ambiance: could get a little loud when ppl start to get drunk off wine (especially with their wine pairings) so we would have to raise our voice to hear each other. service: generally friendly and what you would expect if you're paying $400+ for dinner but as mentioned, since we weren't treated like the other guests, i'd give it a 3/5 :) would i come back? debatable. but im glad to have tried it to know since this restaurant is famous in the area. this is the feedback id give to all my friends that want to try vetri.
