We came here for a birthday dinner and the pasta was very good! We had no leftovers left because everything was the perfect proportions! Our waitress was nice and the food came out fast! [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was a small cafe but perfect for intimate dinners.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My only complaint was the espresso martini tasted a little salty. Other than that it was a cute place to come for dinner!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Cute neighborhood spot with a great outdoor seating area, especially on a beautiful day.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We started with the whipped ricotta, Caesar salad, and marinated olives. The whipped ricotta was easily the highlight and one of the best things I've tasted in a while. The Caesar salad was also fresh with a nice hint of citrus. The entrees were a bit underwhelming. The spicy crab pasta lacked flavor, and the chicken Parmesan was decent but could've used more sauce and seasoning. Service was quick and friendly, though, and I'd definitely come back to try other dishes, especially for that whipped ricotta!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]I love a space where I just get it and nobody is trying to tell me, the food and vibe make it clear.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great corner spot with indoor and outdoor dining creating a fun scene made better by a sun splashed spring evening.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The tik-tok famous Caesar is great, split it with a friend. The octopus in a chili sauce is a highlight! Chicken parmigiana, rigatoni and cacio y Pepe just work. This is so good, so simple, so well presented, and service is great. Grab a Hugo Spritz, grab a seat and chat and soak up the vibe and enjoy.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Great lowkey spot! Definitely want to come back and sit outside at some point, the tables were SO cute.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Loved the chicken Milanese. The fresh spring mix and crispy chicken were a great combo. Our server was nice and attentive too. Can't ask for more!

Had a great meal here later in the afternoon recently. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place was about to close for lunch / dinner break but they happily seated us in the outside small patio.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our server was pleasant. We spilt a chicken Caesar salad & each had a couple of drinks. No issues & would stop back again if in Fitler Square.

Decent italian place but lacked some flavor for my personal preference. Grabbed the octopus starter and the Spicy Crab pasta. Everything was just okay--the octopus was dry and chewy without much else, and the Spicy Crab pasta felt heavy and redundant after a few bites. Nothing fresh in anything I tasted to spice up the palate. This is one of my friend's favorite places so willing to give it another try but would recommend more sharing/family-style to have variety. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Service was great and vibes during the summer are great--open windows and people-watching.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

    SAUSAGE RIGATONI (made vegetarian)

Came here for a late summer celebration date night - [[HIGHLIGHT]]cute Italian spot with nice outdoor patio seating[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], very nice service, and lots of vegetarian options (for example, the rigatoni vodka can be made vegetarian by removing the sausage)! They also have great seasonal specials - when we came, there was a sweet corn ravioli that had saba, an Italian grape syrup inside that blew our minds; my husband who doesn't like pasta said it was the best pasta he's ever had and even got us takeout ravioli a week later. The rigatoni was just okay, could have been a bit creamier & saucier. The broccolini was very bitter and not our favorite, but the whipped ricotta was a hit, can't go wrong. Overall I would come here again with a friend if they were craving pasta!

    CAESAR salad with chicken cutlet
    Brigette B.

This is our third time coming to eat here and it never disappoints! My husband ordered the chicken parm and I ordered a Cesar salad with chicken cutlet and it was to die for. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is on the smaller side but has a great ambiance and the servers are always attentive.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We will continue coming back here!

This spot feels like eating at your nonna's--if your nonna lived in a stylish Rittenhouse corner bistro. Everything here tastes lovingly made, and I usually don't comment on ingredients, but you can really tell they use the good stuff. The olive oil alone deserves its own shoutout--smooth, rich, and honestly sublime. We came during a quiet spell without a reservation and were lucky the kind staff found us a spot. The space is intimate and cozy inside, with charming outdoor seating that adds to the European vibe. As we were leaving, it started to fill quickly--clearly a local favorite. Meal starts with fresh focaccia and that olive oil I can't stop thinking about. We shared the tomato and onion crostini appetizer--simple, elegant, and perfectly balanced with just the right touch of balsamic. I got the Sunday Gravy: house meatballs, rich tomato sauce, and spaghetti that was satisfyingly al dente. But honestly? I couldn't stop stealing bites of my partner's chicken Parm. The chicken was crisp but tender, the cheese bubbling and golden, with just the right amount of sauce. It's clear why it's their signature dish. Great food, warm service, and a location that feels like a hidden gem. Can't wait to return.

One of the best Italian restaurants in the city. I've always heard great things about Trattoria Carina so when my friend moved in to that neighborhood, we had to try it. The place did not disappoint. In fact, it exceeded all expectations. The chicken Parm was heavenly and enough for two separate meals, and the pasta with it was delicious. The Cesar salad was good, as was the tiramisu. Service was good and while the place was busy, they were very accommodating in finding us a spot. Also, low-key one of the best espresso martinis in the city. Do attend.

I love it here. It's a must if you enjoy a good chicken parm. The cutlet is on the thicker side (which I appreciate since it's more protein) and the sauce is phenomenal. The serving of pasta that comes with the chicken is the perfect amount to satisfy that carb craving. I usually turn this chicken parm into two meals since it's huge. Love coming here!

Someone said it's their fav Italian food place in Philly... so I had to try! Service was amazing - our waiter was so kind and let us really enjoy our meal. Super pretty interior with floor to ceiling windows. The gemelli (pesto pasta) was SO good. Had a super unique balance between the freshness and lemony herby flavor of pasta, and the rich nutty flavor. Really enjoyed this, and the pasta was very al dente! The mafaldine bolognese game with a super fun curly thick noodle, but I didn't love the sauce. Liked that it was slightly creamy, but the meat was a bit too salty for me. Love the idea of combing beef, pork, and veal though! The Sunday gravy entree was a meat lovers heaven!! Came with braised shortrib, meatball, sweet italian sausage, and spaghetti. Tiramisu was delicious - leans more cake than cream, really filling, and a great portion! Definitely shareable.

My girlfriend and I celebrated our birthdays here after realizing we'd not had Italian food together in a while. She took one bite of the salad and said "Okay, THIS is what a Caesar salad is supposed to taste like." And devoured the leftovers the next day. You read that right, she reveled in leftover salad. How many times have you given that sort of endorsement for salad leftovers!? I'm still thinking about this meal, over a week later. Specifically I'm thinking about how long before I can get back to Philly for the chicken parm. It was the best I've ever had. The crunch, the flavor, the accompaniment of house made rigatoni. Oh man did I overeat. I did the happy wiggles. And the next day I had a full meal of the remaining portion. The burrata with sourdough, are you effing kidding me? There were figs. FIGS!! I died and went to heaven. It was noisy but the pace of service was great and we loved the cozy atmosphere.

    Could you bring kids/toddlers here?

You probably could, however, it is a small restaurant. I would indicate in your reservation that you have children coming so they can try to best accommodate. I am not sure they have high chairs or booster seats so give them a call!

I actually celebrated my birthday here last year and this place is always a hit, never a miss! We started with the cucumber and tomato salad and the country bread, and what a delicious combination! We also ordered a side of olive oil, and they seriously have some of the best olive oil I've had in a while. I definitely recommend getting some on the side to dip your country bread in. Trust me! We paired everything with a pitcher of sangria, which gives you about four drinks and was much more economical than ordering individual cocktails. I finally tried the chicken Parmesan, and boy, am I kicking myself for not trying it sooner! The chicken breast was thick, juicy, moist, and perfectly crunchy. Some places make their chicken Parm so thin that it barely feels like you're eating chicken, but this was an actual substantial piece of chicken with the perfect bite. Our waitress told me I could swap out the pasta and sauce that normally come with the chicken Parmesan, so of course I did! I got the rigatoni with vodka sauce, and it was DELIGHTFUL. The portion was massive, so I took leftovers home and yes, I absolutely ate them the very next day! My fiancé got the branzino and wanted something lighter so he could help me with the rigatoni. His plate was beautifully presented, the fish tasted incredibly fresh, and it was exactly what he wanted. Overall, we had another wonderful experience. This restaurant will always hold a special place in our hearts, and we'll definitely be back! A special shoutout to our waitress, who was absolutely delightful and told me I could change the pasta and sauce with my chicken Parmesan. You changed my life! You have no idea how happy you made me. I wish I had gotten your name, but truly, everyone there is always so lovely. Thank you for another amazing experience!

The arancini was so decadent and the garlic bread came with a head of garlic confit - both were perfectly appetizers. We also got the shrimp pasta and lobster pasta and both were delicious! The lobster pasta was very filling, so I recommend the shrimp pasta if you want something on the lighter side. The service was good, but there was a wait both times we strolled by (Sunday and Tuesday), so would recommend making a res. The only caveat is that I would not recommend coming here with a party larger than 4 people, the restaurant is very small and rustic and can't fit a larger party. It was fine for us as we were able to push some outside tables together (and it was a beautiful evening), but I do wish we could have sat inside.

The dish was delicious. I enjoyed my plate of sea-inspired tonnarelli nero. Bay scallops in crab ragu with fennel sofrito. Served with squid ink pasta that imparted a slight brininess. The short rib over polenta was probably my favorite thing on the table - it fell apart easily and the polenta underneath wasn't as heavy as I expected it to be. Even the grilled bread used for the bruschetta tasted fresh. Arancini with pork and veal ragu peas was great; the peas added a new texture to the traditional arancini. We also got fried artichokes as an appetizer. It was crispy and salty -- I could munch on that alone. For the entree, I got the veal braciole with tagliatelle and tomato sugo. The whole dish tasted homey, like what you would get at an Italian family's house. The veal braciocle was small, and I wished there was more protein and less pasta to be more balanced. For dessert, everyone raved about their gelato. Their pistachio flavor was clearly a favorite, as it had intense fresh pistachio flavor. It was also tan in color, as you would expect a pistachio nut to be, not the artificial green color added to other pistachio gelatos. I had the amaretto cherry flavor. It was good too, although I wished it had more cherries. A few people got their espresso, and really enjoyed it. They roast their own coffee on-site, so I am not surprised again how fresh it tasted. Tip: Pour a little of their fantastic coffee over your gelato to make your own fresh affogato. I came here with a large group and despite the tight space, we felt cozy. Service was spectacular. We had multiple food allergies in the group, and the waitstaff took each one very seriously, asking down to the detail if the allergy was by consumption or cross-contamination. Thank you to the staff for being so conscientious!

This was definitely not his first, not his second and not his third rodeo he's definitely a professional at what he does. I've never seen it like this before and it was extremely tasty. Very tender I would certainly get that dish again. And since I am not a pasta eater, I ordered a side vegetable of broccoli Rob. The rigatoni honestly was way too salty for my taste. With the focaccia that's mid...it was less salty. The rumps seasonal pasta was delicious and fresh tasting! The service however is amazing and the server gave the great rec of the seasonal rumps pasta!

We have had the great fortune of dining here multiple times. What sets this particular establishment apart from other dining experiences we have had in Philly is their attention to...everything. From the flatware to the glasses to the greeting, service, and knowledge of their food...the dining journey you embark upon is unparalleled. When we arrived, our waiter, Eric, greeted us warmly. We have had the pleasure of meeting Eric on many occasions. Why is Eric so special? He knew our names. Remembered our conversations. Recommended items based on our previous dining habits. He provided interesting details about the products. Explained why and how dishes were created in the manner they chose, and frequently checked back to ensure our meal was as magical as we hoped. Chef Vetri came out to warmly greet us and thank us for returning. Maybe some would see that as a small gesture, but to us...it made us feel important and valued. For such a talented souls to take time to say hello, knowing how much it had meant to us on prior visits, underscores their attention to detail and service. It was appreciated beyond words. One of the hostesses, Diana, also made sure to check up on us. She asked questions based on prior conversations, she laughed and joked with us about life and home ownership. She sought out my wife to say hello when Rachel had stepped away for a moment. The exceptional steps the staff took to ensure our night was a step above others was clearly notable. We couldn't have been more appreciative of all of the efforts of the entire restaurant. We walked away feeling on top of the world...if only for a few short hours. The restaurant itself is such a warm, hospitable environment...how can you beat a rustic row home in Center City on a cozy Friday evening? The decor is inviting and familiar...like walking into a family's living room. It's quaint, it's beautiful, and it certainly pays homage to the heritage of the city. As for the food...that's the easiest part to review. There wasn't a misstep on our plates. From the oyster amuse bouche, with a horseradish crema that stayed in your chest just long enough to tell you hello but not hot enough to tell you it's a bad night, to the molten pistachio cake....the menu took us on a winter/spring journey a ride at Disney plant replicate. The gnocchi with black trumpet mushroom and smoked goat with polenta were my stars. Rachel loved the foie gras and wagyu. But really...what can beat the spinach gnocchi or the tortellini or the onion crepe or the....younger the point. The attention to detail, blending of flavors, and notes that accentuate one another is unrivaled in this city. Yes, it's that good. I can't thank the staff and Chef enough for providing us with a night we will not soon forget. Five stars was a no brainer. Simply the best place to eat in the city, hands

Vetri Cucina was delicious for starters, but progressively worsen as the course continues. apps and…read morepasta ~5/5, everything else was 3/5. came to celebrate an anniversary and got their pick 4 menu for $165 pp. throughout the course they also served little complimentary things like spritzes, table top bread, watermelon gelato. we also had a nut allergy so they were able to accommodate us. a side note that was disappointing was that all the other tables got a card and a polaroid taken of them for their anniversary, except for us, so take that as you will :) here's what we picked: Antipasta: scallops w mango 4/5, refreshing and good quality, but expected it to taste what it sounds like. sweet onion crepe 5/5!!! there's a reason why they kept it on their menu for so many years. incredible and the sauce tasted really good with the tabletop bread. pasta: pappardelle w bluefin mango 5/5, perfectly balanced. spinach gnocchi 3.5/5, well executed but texture is a bit soft since it's spinach based. not my cup of tea. Secondi: duck breast 3.5/5 a lot saltier than i expected and i've had salty duck before. it was ok would not get again but it was cooked very well. american waygu 3.5/5, good but basic, what you would expect. Dolci: the dessert was a bit disappointing, Ricotta cheesecake and chocolate budino were both 2.5-3/5, would recommend trying their other desserts instead. ambiance: could get a little loud when ppl start to get drunk off wine (especially with their wine pairings) so we would have to raise our voice to hear each other. service: generally friendly and what you would expect if you're paying $400+ for dinner but as mentioned, since we weren't treated like the other guests, i'd give it a 3/5 :) would i come back? debatable. but im glad to have tried it to know since this restaurant is famous in the area. this is the feedback id give to all my friends that want to try vetri.
