I use to love it here, great food, great drinks. However the food has become very basic and I don't enjoy it much. I usually only come for the drinks however lately the wait time is excessive. We went the other day and put our name down in the outside part but said we would like to eat inside. The girl said it was fine and communicated it to the other side. After 45minutes of waiting I went to the other side to ask how much longer it will be....only to find out she didn't have our name down EVER. She also didn't really seem to care and said it was getting busy. I guess at this point it's time to find a new place to hang out. If it's not busy when you go than you should have a decent time, if it's busy don't bother. read more

I would give this place zero stars if possible. This was not my first time here, but it will surely be my last. After being seated our waitress approached us slurring her words. We shortly figured out that she was drunk. Very classy! After ordering a couple cocktails from the menu she proceeded to check our IDs. Now this is normally routine, but with what seemed like only one eye open due to intoxication she told me in a laughing tone that my picture did not look like me. Granted, my ID should have been updated a while ago, but my boyfriend and I proceeded to explain to her that it was a very old photo. She then proclaimed that it was not me, and before I could get a word in, she said she would get my drink anyway. Thanks a lot! Our drinks came about 10 minutes later. After the first sip, it was painfully obvious that there was not a drop of alcohol. I simply laughed as I realized she thought I would be too stupid to notice. When we finally tracked her down what seemed like ages later, we sent our drinks back politely. She returned shortly after asking if I wanted to purchase a shot of the rum that was absent from my cocktail. I refused her generous offer and continued my meal, which was my next disappointment. My boyfriend and I ordered the steak and pork quesadillas. His was soaking wet with some sort of grease. Mine was 90% cheese and a couple chunks of pork fat. The best Mexican in Prospect Heights. There are several honorable mentions but these unnamed spots specialize more in "new" and "fusion" Mexican, if you will. If you want "classic" American-Mexican and Mexican food, this is your place. By classic, I mean nachos like you grew up with. Chips, beans, cheese, guac and salsa, and no superfluous ingredients. Like plain seasoned ground beef hard shell tacos with cheese, lettuce, tomato, and taco sauce? This is your place. Want a 5 pound burrito? Go to Burrito Bar. They're equally good at delivery as eating in. Just solid and consistent all around: tasty and fresh ingredients, fast and friendly service and fair prices. I mean really, one burrito is really two meals. I keep going back because I haven't been let down once and even if they messed up once, I wouldn't hold it against them. You'd think Brooklyn restaurants would strive to make sure their food amazes since it is such a fickle and cutthroat business and new spots pop up a dime a dozen in BK. I am a fan of this establishment. The frozen margaritas have real fruit and they make em' strong (at least it feels that way! ;)) The ambiance is very festive and it definitely gets you in the mood for some deelish Mexican food! I actually liked that they had pics of the food on the TV in the restaurant because it gave us ideas of what to order. You can't go wrong with a burrito, but the appetizers are incredible too. They even have a "guacamole girl" who makes the guac right there for you. Service was impeccable. We had a gent named Kevin who was super attentive, and had a level of service that would have been appropriate at a place that cost 3 times as much. Ask for Kevin!!! I love this place!! I stopped there one day during the summer for lunch and it was awesome. The food is great, the staff is VERY friendly, and I love the outside eating area. They also have excellent drinks and everything is super affordable. I'd also like to add that in the few times I've been there, I've been given a free drink TWICE. I've always driven by this place and so i decided to go there on a Saturday night Feb 4, 2012 about 9pm. When I arrived, as I thought the place was packed. There were no tables available. There were some available seating at the bar which i had to sit and wait 40 minutes for a table for 6. I ordered a Mojito which i thought was way to sweet for my liking. My Cousin and I LOVE THIS place, the nachos and chicken wings are soooo like OH YEAH!!! The music is nice as is the lady who goes around with the nacho cart and makes the avocado guacamole in front of you DOPE!!!! Anyone who reviews after one visit has to be cautious. In restos, you look for consistency which means several visits. This was my first. I had a burrito. After all that is the name of the joint. They should get that right. The Steak Burrito I ordered will not take the place of the L.A. Taqueria whose disappearance is missed on 7th Avenue but it is a close second. Why only three stars? A burrito should never get more by its very nature. It is mediocre food to begin with. It is home and hearth, not Jean-Georges. I will return and try the guac which according to other reviewers is top notch. Better be better than what you can buy at Trader Joe's. Comment on the vegetarian who ordered a burger. Why? The menu has the biggest selections of veggie dishes anywhere in town. Why a burger? Why not a veggie burrito? That is the name of the place. The food is bland. No flavor. The rice tastes like the stuff out of the box after its cooked with too much water. Bland. The black beans taste like something out of a can with no flavor added. I went to eat dinner here on a tuesday. There was a decent crowd not too busy and not too dead. It was chilly so i decided to dine in oppose to eating outside. I admire the heart-shaped candlestick holder stand near the entrance that kept my attention most of the night. I ordered an appetizer that came out before the chips and salsa. I found that extremely odd. Normally a moment or two after I have been seated a server greets me with chips and salsa.. Well..Not here.. Maybe they were having a off night who knows. Burrito Bar claimed to be open on a Saturday night, the doors were still open and people were inside drinking and eating when the employee was rude and would not let us come in, and the way he communicated that was disrespectful. If your restaurant is closed early, you should have a sign up or lock the door, not yell at potential customers. But that should not affect the rating...if you are fine with a not very powerful drink , then you will be happy. However, it you crave more liquor, then just ask and you shall receive. Not a big deal! 7) I love the choices of indoor seating, the lounge section, outdoor seating, or the semi-outdoor option. 8) The prices for the food are reasonable. I have eaten at the Burrito Bar several times and always find it to be a most enjoyable dining experience. The margaritas are fabulous and the food is consistently good. I highly recommend the guacamole; it tastes fresh and delicious and is beautifully presented. I'm also impressed with the service. We have been coming to this place for over two years now, party atmosphere and good drinks - all we need to be happy. They have ladies night every thursday now so it became a little nice habit for me and my girls. Our bartender Irena always makes it feel like home, always personal and smiling. Some servers are friendly as well, recognizing us and welcoming while the others look lost with unhappy faces. Drinks from a mexican bartender aren't that great either.
