Whenever I have a medical appointment at Northwestern Hospital I always stop by Burrito Beach afterwards. It's become a normal part of my routine. I usually order the grilled chicken tacos and I really like that they are served on soft corn tortillas. They're fresh, authentic, and they taste great! But what really keeps me coming back are the 3 different salsas, each with its own unique flavor. And they're so fresh that they make every bite taste even better. The staff is always friendly & the service is consistently great. First my husband ordered quesadillas without guac & then I corrected the order for it to include guac. It wasn't added, so I asked for it on the side and I as a paying customer was questioned... The quesadillas didn't come with guac it is included & the cashier literally asked the employees if I requested with guac they said no... This is the best Burrito Beach location for a variety of reasons. Unlike other locations, this has the full menu, including a custard stand. It's inside the Northwestern Hospital, so it's always clean and busy. The food is good, though make sure you ask about spiciness of different things (always order the spicy queso on the side). The music can get really loud, though if you need a quieter place there's plenty of seating in the main food court seating areas. read more

My son was hospitalized for 6 days at Luries and I ate at Burrito Beach at least 3 times. While their build your own burritos are good- I could not get enough of the caldo de pollo. The soup is just so flavorful, and you get their char-grilled chicken, with rice, lime, and green onions, and tortilla strips. The soup was just so comforting- I even fed it to my son, as one of his first meals as soon as he got cleared to eat. I wish I had a location closer to me just so I could order the soup. I have never been to a burrito beach but I was starving from fasting and the location was convenient inside the hospital. Around 11am the line was minimal and plenty of seats. I wanted to try the shrimp but it would have been a five minute wait so I got a steak burrito. It was great! I would say it was better than chipotle and I love chipotle. Today I would have to say was one of the worse time i've ever ordered from Burrito beach. I ordered a crispy Quesadilla on to get a very soft runny quesadilla. I give it a star because the Miguel's burrito bowl is lit! The customer service sucks. They have attitude some days for no reason at all. I order online. I go at the time it says it's ready. And I give my name. And it's always a problem. It's not ready. They can't find order. Something. Today o placed an order to be ready by 715 am because they open at 7. Get my confirmation code. Cool. I get there at 7:15 doors are closed chairs are on tables. Employees eating, cleaning, talking doing their thing. I go to knock and there's a sign saying they are closed. I knock the lady screams they are closed. I knock again she comes out and first thing she says is that they are closed. I inform her I placed order she replies to me with one word "no" I tell her yes I placed an order I show her. She says to wait where she goes back inside and closes door in my face. I see her there eating a cooking sipping on a beverage. Finally another lady comes out asking"can I help you?" She knew why I was there. I asked if I was getting my money back. There are a number of options from which to pick for breakfast at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, and after having tried all of them, I have to say that Burrito Beach's breakfast options are the best combination of freshly cooked ingredients, flavor, generous portion size, and affordable pricing. I ordered a Miguel's Famous Quesa-zilla, which was excellent! It's made to order and features freshly scrambled eggs, crispy bacon, flavorful potatoes/onions, melted cheese, fresh guacamole, and a zesty chipotle sauce -- all on top of a soft tortilla. (FYI, the Northwestern hospital location is the only one in the city that offers the quesa-zillas.) It was super flavorful and the provided salsa gave a great spicy kick to the dish. THIS BURRITO BEACH IS AMAZING!! I purchase food from Burrito Beach every morning and most of the time for lunch, my coworkers say I should have stock in Burrito Beach . Everyone is pleasant from the time you enter the restaurant until you receive your food. The employees remember you, which is plus. I never have to tell my order anymore when I go in, even if it's a new employee, theyll already tell them how to make my order, which is my special creation of the Miguel's breakfast quesadilla. I stopped going about 4-5 months ago for my own personal health reasons but I went yesterday and all four employees greeted me with BIG SMILES and said they missed me, asked about my health and family...and of course they already started my order without me telling them what I wanted, they remembered. I have been a huge fan of Chipotle, never had Burrito Beach until recently had it at a catered seminar at Northwestern. Then I checked out this location and I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised! Fish platter is awesome! Fish is freshly grilled (Chipotle doesn't have that) they have shrimp too. I feel the ingredients are more flavorful than chipotle for sure! Their chips are bigger in portion than chipotle and more crispy. Def goes well with their creamy guac. The best thing about this burrito beach is that they have super tasty cookies (chocolate chip, white chocolate and macadamia nuts, and raisin oatmeal) and brownies. This is a solid spot. I meet my boyfriend for lunch a lot since he works in the building, and I think this is the best food place in there. The tacos are pretty yummy and really filling. The veggies are always super fresh. I get the chicken tacos with spanish rice, baja chicken, and basically extra of all of their veggies. Their cabbage topping is my fav! It's soft, but still crunchy, and tastes like it's marinated in some kind of citrus. The tacos come with chips, too, which is nice. Their burritos are large but nothing amazing. I think at this point I'm just not a fan of these type of pseudo-Mexican fast food places when it comes to burritos. Or maybe I'm just used to really yummy ones from when I lived in California. We've had their mojo (or whatev) quesadilla. It was decent. Not amazing, but not bad. Worth a try if you're interested in it. Maybe I'll try one of their regular quesadillas. I've had their custard and shakes too, which aren't bad but not my favorite either. Shake Shack has amazing housemade custard, and this place just doesn't live up to great custard. Their macadamia cookie is really yummy, but I'm not a fan of their brownies. Not gooey enough for me. The staff is usually friendly enough and work pretty quickly. Overall, solid spot that'll fill you up and won't disappoint you if you know what to order. I'm dying to try their breakfast - it sounds really good! I was pretty excited to have a Mexican chain restaurant open inside of Northwestern (I work here and sometimes you just want to grab something quick and easy). The place is located on the second floor of the Feinberg building, and has a pretty open and bright space with a decent amount of tables to sit at. The food here is definitely comparable to Chipotle, with the build your own meal kind of structure. I personally enjoy that everything they have (from meats to salsas) are all very fresh and taste really good. The service here is always quick and friendly, so don't hesitate to ask questions. Now onto the food: Chicken Burrito 3.5/5: the chicken burritos here are pretty good and reeaaallllly filling. I actually have changed to eating the tacos because I feel like I ate way too much when I would have a burrito (I can't throw away delicious food...yes I have a problem). They have a couple selections of chicken: Baja chicken and Asada chicken, and for a little extra chorizo and chicken. I personally like the Baja chicken more as it has a little kick to it compared to the rest. I don't really like the chorizo chicken and think it isn't worth the extra pay. They offer a bunch of fillings for your burrito including rice, beans, 3 different types of salsa, cilantro and onion, pickled onion, tomato, lettuce, cheese, etc. So you really can choose what you want to fill yours with. Honestly I love to fill mine with veggies and always overdo it with the burrito. Chicken tacos 4/5: I personally think the tacos are the best deal. You get three tacos with whatever topping you want to put in it (guacamole is extra). I always load mine with their fresh veggies because they are really crisp and delicious. The one thing that I didn't expect is that they give you a small side of chips with your tacos.... uh heck yeah. Desserts: Caramel Milkshake 4.5/5: This one is definitely my favorite milkshake there. It's really sweet with a strong caramel flavor that is oh so good. The prices for the shakes aren't that costly either, so if you want a cool treat, grab this. Chocolate Milkshake 3.5/5: This was just okay. It wasn't bad but nothing amazing to write about it either. Just your typical chocolate milkshake. Overall this place is a pretty solid restaurant to get something quick and filling. I personally prefer Chipotle more, but they really are on par with each other. If you're in the neighborhood (or hospital) stop by here for some tacos or trearts. read more

The sirloin steak burrito is where it's at! There are plenty of breakfast, vegan and vegetarian options. They seem to have specials on their chalkboard menu like fish tacos. I don't think their prices are too bad to either my burrito is about $8.29 for the burrito. You have a choice of tacos, toast burrito, rice bowl, nachos or crispy quesadillas. I liked the beans and rice with the burrito and mild salsa was tasty. I say check it out I like it. This burrito beach is located on the second floor of the hospital building. The prices are pretty comparable to chipotle. The line moves pretty quick. I really like the chips and salsa. There's some seating inside burrito beach but a lot more outside on the second floor. There are a handful of other restaurants on the second floor as well. This place is a gem as far as food court restaurants go. The place has a trendy beach vibe and the service has always been PHENOMENAL not to mention their food is very yummy. It's unusual to find such friendly service at a fast food location but all the employees I've encountered here over multiple visits have been so friendly and patient. The burrito bowls are delicious and tastes less salty to me than chipotle. The portion might be a little smaller than chipotle's but the ingredients taste much more fresh and there are more meat options. Guys, I'm a woman of not-very-substantial size, and this location's burritos are so small, you'd need two of them to add up to one proper Chipotle burrito. The steak was good, and all the ingredients seemed fresh, but come on. I should not spend $9 on a burrito and be HONGRY shortly thereafter. My bag was so light, I was like WTF, I should go back and be an ass and ask them to put more food in this thing. Wasn't just one employee putting a pittance of food in there either. A guy started it, and a woman finished it, and both were barely laying out the ingredients. I've dropped more rice on my rug than they dropped onto my tortilla. Burrito beach is a lot like Chipotle. I like that the give you the carb free option of lettuce instead of rice. They also have a taco option. Smoothies and other treats are available here as well. Only three but all so good!! Great flavor and a wonderful addition 4.5-guac--- still $1+ extra (haha) 5! Incredible! Huge portion great quality and flavor just outstanding! 6.
