    Chicken nachos
    Keisha M.

I eat at Sweet Greens quite frequently for lunch and I made a mental note to try here. Viewed the menu and was pleased to see they serve nachos. The menu options/ingredients are typical: chicken, pork, steak, rice, black beans, salsa, lettuce etc. I ordered nachos with chicken, black beans, rice, cheese, pico and lettuce. I was surprised at the small amount of tortilla chips that were put in the bowl and the rest of the ingredients were the same. Am I 5??? The nachos tasted just okay. They werent bad but nothing about them makes me want to revisit. I'll stick to qdoba for nachos and Chipotle for bowls. Dos Toros didn't hit the mark for me. Sorry.

Salad with "double" protein thanks to the market vegetables.

I've been to Dos Toros for a yelp elite event before, so I was excited to revisit. BUT- when did they start charging for guacamole?! Thankfully the freebie I had allowed me to get the guacamole at no charge, but that was a super disappointing start! During prime time lunch rush, I felt like they were extremely quick and efficient. To be honest, service wasn't that kind, and they didn't tell me the "market veggies" counted as a protein before they offered them to me... but they certainly had no qualms yelling at me about charging for double the protein. I showed them my free coupon (met with eye rolling), but offered to pay for the double protein portion; It just would have been nice to have some kind of signage up! They should also label the food choices while they're at it. Finding a seat wasn't difficult, it was extremely clean and they offered complimentary water. I actually like them better than their burrito rolling counterpart! However, I just don't think I would be back because I really didn't appreciate the way I was treated.

Dos Toros is always an excellent on-the-go option when downtown. The staff at this particular location is excellent! Everyone was so nice, friendly and helpful. A couple years ago I had my first burrito ever from Dos Toros and I continue to think they make excellent rice, bean and tortilla medley. One thing that differentiates Dos Toros from other spots is they melt cheese right onto the tortilla for you. Love that gooey cheese! All their ingredients are always super fresh and tasty! Pro-Tip: On your first time in, you get free guac! Otherwise it'll run you $1 to add on. Liked this location and would definitely go back!

Fresh braised meats, homemade guacamole, and steamed tortillas made right here in Chicago. This is not your typical fast casual burrito place as the quality speaks for itself. Even better, they serve beer. I have been here several times and if they had late night hours a lot more. The first time I visited was for a Yelp Elite event where we got to meet the owner, who flew in from New York, and make our own burritos (I was a natural). We received coupons to come back, but although they were a bonus, I would have come back anyway. If you're looking for a good, fast, great priced, meal... this is your place. Tell the Hola from Chad.

Dos Toros is back open! Dos Toros is a taqueria experience where you can choose what toppings you want on your burrito, bowl, quesadilla, nachos, salad and tacos. They even have a vegan option. They have impossible ground beef. My favorite item to get is an impossible ground beef quesadilla with rice, black beans, no cheese, peppers and onions, mild smokey sauce, guacamole, tomato salsa, and crushed chips. The crush chips adds that added crunch and definitely a game changer.

Had an early dinner here a couple of days ago. Came here on a recommendation from a friend and am really glad that he told us about Dos Toros Taqueria. I had a carnitas plato which is basically a burrito, but served in a bowl. Mine consisted of carne asada (skirt steak), rice, black beans (you have your choice of black or pinto beans), guacamole, veggies, cheese, lettuce, onion, and tomatoe. You have your choice of sauce It was really tasty, everything was fresh and the meat delicious! You have your choice of hot sauces, Smokey or mild, Verde or medium and Habanero or super hot. I opted for the Smokey sauce and It was a great compliment to my meal. The location is right on the corner and has 2 levels. On the first floor, you order, select your ingredients, and pay for your food and drinks. The only seating on the first floor are stools along the wondows. Upstairs, there are 6 tables that seat 4, 10 window seats, and 2 middle aisle tables that seat 10. Great food, fast service, a great time all around!

Tacos is in the name, burritos is what they feature and plates are served for those who prefer to eat with a fork. In a city where Mexican food is available virtually in every neighbourhood, Dos Toros still can find it's niche; their secret weapons? Fresh ingredients, quality, natural raised meats perfectly cooked, large portions and friendly service. This is a counter service restaurant where the food is customized to your taste from a variety of ingredients. So, ordering is more complicated then the average fast food Mexican joint, but you will be rewarded with the meal of your choice, not one just posted on a menu. Whether you choose to have tacos, burrito or a plate, you are asked to choose your protein, followed by the sides to complement your meal. It is temptingly easy to ask for everything, and many do, but with 10 ingredients it can be overwhelming. About my only complaint is the temperature of the meats, I would like them a bit hotter. I like my food steaming hot. So if you like this type of food, give them a visit, it probably won't be the last. PS. Cash is not accepted.

Chicken, pastor, and carne asada tacos - all delish!

Super taco joint! We loved all of the tacos we tried - pastor, chicken, carne asada! Good range of spiciness with the salsas and options for toppings. I find many taco places have pretty bland, flavorless meats. Dos Toros gets it right with amazingly tasty fillings! Staff was very friendly and helpful.

Amazing food! I came here for an event on Wednesday. The staff looked like they really enjoy working here and can turn your order in to works of art. I had the Cali quesadilla. The shell was nice and crispy. I put cheese (lactose free), pulled pork, beef, corn, guac, tomatoes, and the smoky Verde salsa inside. Both meats were very flavorful and I think I am addicted to their smoky Verde salsa. It just goes everything together and has a subtle smoky flavor.

    Pretty large burrito action

Yes, it's like Chipotle but with a few differences. A) The bowls run deeper, which is nice because you don't have pieces of lettuce flying everywhere when you eat it. B) The tortilla can come with melted cheese! C) The homemade salsas are a nice touch and I loved the habanero, although it's not very spicy. D) The Spanish rice is no match for Chipotle's cilantro lime rice. E)Yes, the guac is cheaper here running only a buck extra! Overall, I loved my burrito with carnitas. It was insanely flavorful but I did not get much of it and it wasn't really spread out evenly. So I had a couple of really delicious bites of my giant burrito before I discovered that I had eaten all of the meat in it. I can only speak for the carnitas here; it is way better than Chipotle's but not sure about the other meats. I feel like the chicken at Chipotle is always the best choice because the other meats are always hit or miss. This place seems to be more consistent with the cook of the meat, but may not be so much with the quantity. I loved eating here at the actual restaurant. Self-serve water and a huge sitting area upstairs is the way to go!

My friends and I were walking around downtown about a month ago. We were looking for a place to eat and both my friends suggested this place. One has been here before and likes it. The other friend, Linda L., has heard good things. The place is spacious. The counter to order is on the first floor, along with a long window table and high chairs. It was about 4pm on a Wednesday so pretty empty. One friend ordered a Chicken plato. Linda L. and I split a Carne Asada quesadilla and a Carnitas plato, both with guac. We decided to sit upstairs at a long table to have more room. The second floor is cute. It has mirrors, wooden tables, and nice, warm lighting and big windows facing the busy streets of downtown. Before digging in, we took a (long) moment to take pictures! Now for the food. The Carne Asada quesadilla was cooked perfectly! It was a good size, definitely big enough to share between two people. The only thing is that they could have added more cheese. Linda L. went in for the cheese pull and there was none at all. The Carnitas plato was also good. You can tell the ingredients are fresh. My friend enjoyed his Chicken plato, as well. Overall, it was great but not amazing. P.S. shoutout to Juan for trying to recreate our bowl like the one on the Dos Toros IG page not quite the same but A+ for effort!

    Robert G.

Pretty good, quick serve food. Lots of seats upstairs if you don't get a seat downstairs. It's of the same model as other quick serve spots. Plan on spending $10-$12 for food + drink.

Uhmmm the pictures are misleading. Ordered thru uber eats, a nacho plate. The food is barely halfway of a small aluminum tray. Foods good, but for the price its ehhhh. Condiments were missing making my meal less satisfying.

Starting with margaritas (because obviously ‍), queso and chips that were dangerously good, and the chicken empanadas that came out perfectly crispy with so much flavor. We kept looking at each other after every bite like "okay wait... THIS is the best thing here" and then another plate would arrive and prove us wrong again The carnitas fried rice??? I genuinely cannot stop thinking about it. So savory, flavorful, comforting, and packed with crispy carnitas on top with the eggs and pickled onions... literally unreal. And then the skirt steak tacos absolutely stole the show. The steak was cooked perfectly, packed with flavor, and paired so perfectly with all the toppings and sauces. Every single bite tasted fresh and homemade in the best way possible. And can we talk about the ambience for a second because WOW. The music, the energy, the vibe inside, everyone celebrating, the drinks flowing -- it felt like the perfect Cinco de Mayo dinner spot. The service was also AMAZING from start to finish and made the entire experience even better. Appetizers were quac and chips, and shrimp ceviche. The guac was really good, but the ceviche was the star. Served on a bed of cucumbers, it was visually beautiful, and the flavor was fresh and complex. There was also a LOT of it. We ended up taking some home. Entrees were steak and shrimp for me, and Tampiquena for my friend. In both dishes, the steak was done to perfection. The sauce that came with my shrimp was spicy and deep--lots of flavor layers there. Both of us took home portions of our meals because there was a lot of food on the plates. Finally, the service--the servers are attentive without hovering. If we needed something, they were there, but never intrusive. It is hard to believe this is a little neighborhood spot, given the service and the quality of the food. It was not too busy tonight--we ate early--but I recommend reservations. It is very popular with the neighborhood. Bottom line, we each had 2 margaritas, appetizers, and entrees, and our bills with tip were around $105.00 each--totally worth it!
