So I finally got to eat a sit down meal there and I was just as impressed as the other time when I got to eat their catered food. I would say their horchata is comparable (but not better) than another nearby (also very authentic) Mexican restaurant. My lunch special pastor burrito was delicious. It was definitely the best first meal there. There are plenty of other items I'm looking forward to trying. The service was great and the portion was big for a lunch size. The one thing that's better about Burrito King than the other place is the seating. There are plenty more tables than the other place. While it isn't the biggest deal in the world, it can make or break a lunch choice when you only have a small window of time to eat. Excellent hole-in-the-wall with lots of authentic dishes you can't find in most Mexican restaurants outside of Mexicantown. Ceviche, octopus, cactus, cabeza, etc. They have a printed menu but also many specials on hand drawn signs displayed on the walls. Fresh food and nice staff, there is only seating for 15. Been here a handful of times since I first reviewed Burrito King and I learned a couple things - I still love it and the food is still delicious! They've expanded into the space next door since my last review. It's not a dump or hole in the wall like another reviewer put it - and it wasn't before the expansion either. The original seating layout is still there, but it seems like most people opt to sit on the side that's filled with large booths. Aside from the "remodel," nothing has really changed with Burrito King. Every trip still starts of with the assortment of salsas and pico - seriously try the Avocado (Green) Salsa, I could drink that stuff!!! They still serve Horchata. I also found out that they offer a Pineapple Water? Never heard of it until my most recent trip. I had already ordered Horchata, but I was definitely intrigued so I'll give it a try on our next visit. The beans and rice are still great. Those beans...they're magical - and I don't mean by way of flatulence! So Friday morning, my husband & I woke up and were both starving. Neither of us really felt like going out in the cold, so I offered to make breakfast. He reasoned getting dressed, and going out would be quicker than me making breakfast so that's what we decided. Then we just had to figure out where. Well on a Friday during Lent, breakfast is somewhat limited since we can't eat meat. I could eat Mexican food every single day, so that was my suggestion. We were having a tough time finding a local Mexican restaurant that was open at 9:30AM and serving breakfast. The only thing I could think of was going to Detroit. I can't remember which of us thought of Burrito King (I'm going to say it was my husband), but we discovered via Yelp they're open at 900AM. We decided to go for it! Ok, so once we were seated we were handed their regular lunch/dinner menus. I wasn't able to find a breakfast menu, but my husband said he seen the mention of "breakfast" somewhere on their Yelp biz page. When the waitress came back, I asked her if the had a breakfast menu. She said, "Yes, but it's Mexican." I'm not really sure what that meant, but I told her ok. She brought it to me and I was celebrating inside. Chilaquiles!!! A meatless, Mexican breakfast option. Hooray!!! I really wanted to order Chorizo con Huevos. Chorizo is also magical. Anyways - I ordered the Chilaquiles with Ranchero sauce. It was egg, corn tortilla, Ranchero sauce, and cheesy goodness on my plate! It was a pretty generous portion as well. I wasn't able to finish my plate. Close - but not exactly. So if you want local delicious Mexican food for breakfast, lunch and/or dinner - Burrito King has got you covered! read more

No face masks worn by ANY of the staff. One of the staff's child was there and probably exposed to COVID-19, my order was wrong even though I asked specifically for no sour cream and no tomatoes due to my medical condition. Also, I have braces so I asked for no lettuce and they charged me for pico, which has never been the case. If I don't die from the potential disease I was exposed to, I will never go here again. Literally every part of my order was wrong including the fact that I asked for beans in my burrito and I got nothing. I'd ask for a refund, but I'd be rolling the dice again just going on there. Let start of by saying this place is a hidden gem. Burrito King is super authentic Mexican that is local to Oakland country without having to drive out to Southwest Detroit (which is still amazing). Not only do they serve you with chips and salsa, it is almost disrespectful to not try one of their amazing apps. Like the carne asada fries , potatoes fries to perfection, topped with carne asada, lettuces, avocado, cheese is the perfect combo. Amazing. Next up is tacos.. ALL are amazing, get them with cilantro and onions and ask for a side of limes. They come in small or large. All in all, we love this place . Should have ordered the shredded chicken. I think the grilled chicken had pork or bacon bits in it too, though I didn't tell my muslim lunch buddy. Greeted by happy faces at the door, they gestured to the main dining area comprised of booths along the wall and center tables they can push together for larger parties, to find a seat. A 6-8 page menu consisting for everything from enchiladas, a variety of soups, combination plates, burritos, you name your favorite Mexican dish, they more than likely have it! They start you off with two kinds of salsa. TWO! Spicy and mild, which are both delicious and hit the spot! I then quickly order myself an Horchata (A sweet rice drink with cinnamon) they offer you a small or large. The small is basically a large to me while the large would basically be a large gulp! You've been warned. My usual order consists their small shrimp tacos (side note: They offer their tacos in both a large and small size. Small is basically your run of the mill taco size and the large is basically 3x's the size of a smal) their shrimp is fresh, cooked perfectly, and topped with cilantro and onions which makes my heart skip a beat! I would highly suggest their carne asada, carnitas, shrimp, and chorizo. Their service is quick, their staff is accommodating and the bill was pretty cheap considering the amount of food we received. I HAD to give them four stars for not having any liquor. It's really hard to wash down a good taco without a margarita, hopefully they'll get a liquor license soon! I've only ordered carry out here a couple of times even though it's in my area and right next to my gym. I'm just not a big fan of Mexican food. However both times I received authentic food made with great, fresh ingredients and nicely sized portions. As far as tacos go, I think some of the meats are better than others i.e. Pastor and marinated beef are much tastier, more flavorful and less dry than the chicken options. Guacamole is perfectly fresh and yummy here and they give you a paper bag full of tortilla chips which remind me of the chips you get at Chipotle minus the lime flavor, and a box of limes to squeeze on top. Very nice. My sope with chicharrones would have been decent but I thought the chicharrones would be crispy and they were not. Maybe not all Latin American cuisines serve pork fat fried but to me it's inedible otherwise (would you eat soft bacon?). They gave us a lot of fries but it was the kind of fries that are just okay and will definitely taste better after a few minutes in a toaster oven. For 4 large flour tacos, 2 small hard shell tacos, a medium sope, a large side of fries, a side of guac and bag of chips, I paid $29. I originally wanted to give BK 3 stars but then I remembered that they are open until 11 pm and will probably be saving me from late night hunger pangs in the future! read more

Count me in Amigo! +Lots of places to sit. +Friendly staff. +The seafood cocktail is on point. Cuts of octopus mixed with shrimp and avocados in a chilled tomato soup-ish base. put some on a spoon, sprinkle a little salt and pepper on there and a little lime juice and your eyes will roll to the back of your head. +Affordable family prices. +Spicy spicy sauces. I love it. Cons: -Might be a little hard to find if you're going there for the first time. Its in a plaza next to a liquor store. -No alcohol. Honestly if this place was next to a beach, there'd be no need to go to Cancun. Too bad it's so far away from me, so now I have to settle for Taco Bell. FML. Ordered: 4 Tacos + Large Horchata Price: $1.50 per taco + $3.50 Ambiance: This place is decently busy even at odd hours which is reassuring. The decor is thematic but still has a cheap hole-in-the-wall feel. I appreciate the ranchero music in the background and silent TVs with spanish subtitles. Staff were super friendly and food usually comes out pretty fast. Food: Free chips and fresh homemade salsa when you sit down which are easy to fill up on. I love their tacos though and don't plan on ordering anything else every I come here! They are usually bursting with meat when you pick them up and thats with the two corn tortillas that have been steamed. They do offer flour tortillas if that's your preference too. The meats themselves are usually moist and savory, especially the goat and pastor. The carne asada and carnitas can be slightly dry at times but a little hot sauce helps that out. I would recommend trying their horchata as it's well-balanced between creamy and sweet and has a delightful floral aftertaste which I think comes from the type of cinnamon they use. Overall this is one of the best mexican places on this side of town and I will gladly come back, could compete with places in San Diego at least in the taco department. read more

We go to the King - alot! But it's not as good as it used to be. They used to serve a avocado salsa and pico de gallo, in addition to the hot and mild salsa with chips.
