Well, well well. I was really curious about the reviews regarding service from the lady at the register after my visit, and all I can say is, 'wow!' No surprise that a half dozen other people have mentioned her and I didn't even go that far into the reviews. This was my first, and last time visiting this local spot. I tried a few items just to get a feel for the menu and the food wasn't much better than the service unfortunately. The hardshell tacos are a click up from the tacos at Jack-in-the-Box, but unlike the 2 for $1 Jack-in-the-Box tacos from youth, you'll never crave these tacos again in future. These are equally greasy, but with more meat and less flavor. While the food was par for the course and wouldn't bring me back for a return trip, the arrogant energy from the lady up front is what really brought me here to share with fellow Yelpers in the community. An average food experience will always yield an average review and possibly warrant a return visit to try again, but there's zero tolerance for sub-par service. Pricing and competition is steep these days, and what separates establishments sometimes is simply the people and experience

I've been coming to El Chavo for years. I'm not a big fan of Mexican food, but I really like their carne asada burrito and tacos. Made very classic with beans, rice, carne asada, and cilantro (and whatever else that may be in it), everything is evenly distributed so that every bite is delicious. I get it with no spicy sauce. It's always consistently good, particularly when the women of this family owned business prepare it. I've never tried anything else here, so not sure how the other menu items taste. They are located on reseda and Oxnard (next to Baskin Robbins). Their is ample free parking available.

Impressed! Two man show and they took orders and made DELICIOUS food so fast you'd think there was a kitchen full of chefs! Despite being busy the gentleman at the counter was attentive and friendly to everyone! Had sopes and a green burrito! I'd recommend both. This place is a gem and I wish they'd have been open the next day so I could try their menudo. I will definitely drive the distance from Baldwin Park to eat at this location. Parking is a bit tight. If you can find street parking, do that. It's worth it!

Came in last night to celebrate a friend's birthday (they have happy hour all day Mon-Wed) and was pleasantly surprised. My friends started off ordering the HH guava margaritas, which they enjoyed. I ordered the coconut margarita (not on HH) a must !!!! Not overwhelmingly sweet and tasty! We ordered and rated the following dishes: Guacamole: 9/10 HH tinga Nachos: 7.5/10 (flavor was there but most chips were burnt) HH Taquitos papas: 9/10 great flavor and sauce HH steak tacos: 7.5/10 the corn and portion of meat to the taco was very good. The steak a little well done for my liking. Enchiladas verde: 9/10 great portion honestly enough for two to share. Rice and beans were okay. Beans a bit salty and rice was a bit bland. Would definitely come back for the apps and drinks! They also have brunch which looks like fun.

When we got there, there was a DJ playing 80s/90s throwbacks. It was good music and vibes, but it was quite loud, we could barely hear ourselves speak. Luckily he wasn't there too long, as brunch-time was over. We ordered Mango margaritas, chips & salsa, birria tacos, tinga taquitos, elote, and chicken enchiladas with green sauce. Every single thing was delicious. I was highly impressed. This place will definitely be in the rotation. If I didn't live so far away, I would go for happy hour.

I found the wait staff to be a bit short-tempered and absent-minded. The molé was decent, sweet, with a little smokiness. The plate was big enough to share or take leftovers home. Comes with a basket of chips and salsa you get yourself at a salsa bar. Ordering is at the counter, then you take a number to your table. Soft drinks are self serve. They don't have Coke Zero, only Diet Coke. The flan was pretty good. They ask if you want it topped with a caramel sauce and/or whipped cream. Again, I had to go to the counter and ask for it (even though I had paid for it). In fact, I had to go back to the counter several times. My drink cup was forgotten. My flan was as forgotten. Since no one came by to check on our party of five- I had to go to the counter to get to-go boxes and bags. It's close by to work, so I might come by another time. Or I might just go to Melody's because their staff seems to be nicer...

Despite it being the middle of the day and a Tuesday it was still hard to find parking and we parked on the side streets and walked. The main entrance is not well marked and we were pointed to the side door. On entering it was nice and air conditioned and we were seated quickly. Menus are on the qr codes on the table but the menu is hard to scroll through because you have to click each different items to look at and then scroll down and up. We asked for regular menus to make it easier and we were given menus that had hole punches throughout from punching out all the prices because I'm assuming prices have gone up. I hope that they could make the virtual menu a little easier to look at since i think they might be phasing out their physical menus. While we waited on our order we were given delicious chips and spicy bean dip which were excellent. So delicious. For salsa we were directed to the salsa bar. While I think the bar is cool, the tiny cups to get salsa are too small. I would have liked the bean dip sized bowl to get enough, instead of having to get several tiny cups which are hard to scoop from with the chips. I orderd the #7 which was a cheese enchilada, a crunchy beef taco, and rice and beans. My friends ordered two different taquitos plates, one orderd a fajitas plate, and the youngest got cheese quesedilla. My food was delicious but the portion was so large that I could only eat the taco and take the rest to go! Same with My friends, everyone ate maybe a 3rd to a half of the plate and then we all needed to go boxes. Overall a very delicious visit!

One meal can easily be split between multiple people. My favorites are the green enchiladas and the spicy chipotle burrito, and the rice and beans are just as flavorful and delicious as the main entrees. Upon being seated, you are served a spicy and cheesy bean dip with fresh chips, and there is a salsa bar inside where you can fill up on your choice of salsas. I sat in the outside patio area in my most recent visit, and while the quality of the food didn't change, the service was not the greatest; my table and a couple of other tables had a difficult time flagging anyone down for refills, to go containers, or the bill. There's also a pretty big price difference between paying with card and paying with cash; multiple menu items were at least 3-4 dollars more if you plan to pay with card. Still, the food is good and if you're craving some hearty and comforting Mexican food, S&B is a good option.
