Giving five stars for amazing quality and quantity of food. This is the type of ambiance I look for in a great Mexican restaurant with a nice self serve salsa bar with chips , two men running the grill and stacks of beer along the wall you know they know what they're doing. We ordered two Michiladas with models negra and a regular Pacifico the michi was large and fit another half of a beer but let me tell you it was definitely made with some passion. We also ordered two shrimp burritos and a wet Shredded Chicken Burrito, one asada, and one tripas Street Taco with their spicy spicy habanero sauce ( is not for the weak) everything was made with so much love. The service is upfront you order from the counter and they bring it to your table. The chefs and the cashiers all work together as a team to give you the best quality customer service and great quality food just as if you were in Jalisco, Mexico. The Foresthill Road exit in Auburn, CA is a must stop for me when returning to Reno from anywhere in California that requires me to be in I-80 East. I have my usual spots but wanted to try something new and my husband recommended this place, so we stopped in for a quick bite. He ordered pozole and I ordered a gourmet Steak Ranchero burrito. Hubby liked his big bowl of pozole. My gourmet burrito was just ok. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great; I mean, I prefer my favorite place in Reno over it (which reminds me, I have to write a review for it soon!) Gotta say the burrito was huge and I was full after having eaten just half of it. There's a fountain drink dispenser and chips and salsa station in the back. Salsa choices of mild, chipotle and spicy - tried em all and they were good. Chips were ok, didn't taste like they were made fresh in store. Would I return on future trips? What's with the girl advertising her own salsa in the previous review? Er, weird... This place is just another example of folks not rating a business for what it has to offer. They make large and tasty burritos and full Mexican plates here. The flavor is well balanced with plenty of spice, and I really enjoy their green and red salsa. The employees are always courteous and grateful, and if they're not to busy will walk your meal out to you and ask how your food is (even though this is a "call the order out when it's ready" atmosphere). I'm not entirely sure what folks are comparing a little hole in the wall place like this with, but the owner "Fily" and his employees do a very good job for the type of small business that this is. I have never witnessed anything other than prompt, thoughtful service and sanitary food prep/delivery. I was starving on the the way to tahoe so I ordered a steak burrito. Had what seemed like a polite, friendly interaction with the cashier. Left a dollar in the tip jar. Got the burrito. Took a big bite - rice and beans seemed ok but there was an odd crunch, like a tortilla chip. I thought maybe the tortilla was crunchy from being toasted. Looked in the burrito, nothing seemed amiss, so I took a second bite. More crunch. I spit it into a napkin and examined the contents. The crunchy texture turned out to be bits of burned steak, looking like what is left over when you scrape a grill to clean it. Disgusting. Who would put that in a burrito intended to be sold? Did I anger an employee to the point that the food was tampered with, or is it just that bad? I will never eat there again. Well my wife and I just moved up here to Auburn in March and this is the best Mexican restaurant we've found. The crunchy tacos are really good and the carne asada fries are out of this world, with fresh guacamole and pico de gallo. They serve your food fast and they have a good salsa bar with fresh, hot tortilla chips. You like good Mexican food then this a good place to eat. read more
