Each meal also comes with bread with oil and a seasoning. I got addicted to this bread! It's so soft and delicious with the oil and seasoning!! My beyti was a beautifully plated wrap with a dipping sauce in the middle. It was drizzled with a tomato sauce and the filling was lamb and beef. In my opinion the combination of the wrap and sauce is good! The wrap by itself might be a bit plain when you get halfway into it all. I've been wanting to go to Bursa for quite some time but it looks a little too nice with the wine bar in the back and the pretty blue walls. The lunch specials are a good deal ($7 for a kebab of your choice, rice & salad) and the food is fresh, vibrant and flavorful. Actually for $7 you can get non-kebab Turkish dishes too like stuffed eggplant, sauteed chicken and beef stroganoff (why they have beef stroganoff is beyond me). The lunch menu also includes salads, wraps, grilled seafood, appetizers and lentil soup. Kebabs are cooked to order (expect to wait 10 - 15 minutes). I had the adana kebab, a thick, flattened kebab made with ground lamb and a generous amount of red pepper flakes. The grilled kebab was delicious though a bit salty. The sides and yogurt sauce were very good. The orzo with jasmine rice was fluffy and tasted like it had been cooked in broth. Yum. The green salad with tomatoes was crispy and simple. My stomach couldn't thank me enough for stopping by for dinner before taking off for vacation. Our waiter started us off with water and complimentary bread w/ olive oil and spice. Their bread was so delicious and warm and chewy. Love their oilve oil with spice! We couldn't help but asked for refill numerous time. For appetizers: -Combo appetizer: hummus, baba ghanouj, haydari, ezme, dolma, mercimek and falafel. Not going to lie, I cleaned their plate. Not a single lick of sauce or hint of crumb, spot, dab, drop, or speck of food was left on the place. I think even the herb they used as garnish was devoured. For entree: -Mixed grill kebabs: chicken, kofte, lamb and rack of lamb. Every kebab was flavorful but we agreed that the chicken kebab was a bit dry. Pretty much everything from Bursa looked amazing and the food that was ordered was quite amazing, too. For dinner, I had: Feta Prawns (appetizer): We had asked the waitress if she would rather choose this or the crab cakes and she picked this. She asked if we liked spicy food and said this would be perfect. Too bad it wasn't spicy at all but it was really good. The waitress suggested we dip our bread that was served to us when we ordered into the sauce and I'm glad she had mentioned that. Try this if you are looking for an appetizer! Chicken Kebabs: This was served with orzo Jasmine rice and salad along with two chicken kebabs. Everything was perfect and I really liked the sauce that came with the dish on the side and the chicken was not dry at all. On the menu, there are no options to order a side of kebabs (as spelled on their menu) listed but you can definitely order how ever many you would like if you choose to do so. Also, the place is quite small and sometimes it might feel as though you're dining with other patrons. LOVED this place! Came here yesterday (5/26/14) for a Memorial Day lunch with my mom. I've been here before for dinner and was surprised at their lunch special - $8 for pretty much everything on the menu (besides appetizers, which ranged from $5-8). I had the salmon wrap with their salad (option is salad or fries) and my mom had their kabob wrap (mix of beef and lamb) and a salad. Both were absolutely delicious. Full of flavor and I devoured every last bit! The wrap that it comes with is homemade and sooo good. TIP - add their pickles. Made our wraps that much better! I had their Turkish coffee, sweetened. So good! The service was decent, but could have been a little better. The place was packed - literally, had people waiting outside so that's probably why the service wasn't all that great. The chicken is MOIST, and that is the true test for me. They must inject it w/Lubriderm or something cuz most chicken kebabs I come across at other places are a hit or miss on the moist factor. The Kofte was okay, not sure if its an acquired taste because I can eat Lamb fine all on its own and not have any issues, but maybe it was the seasoning in this certain batch that threw me off. For $17 I've also had the Adana kebab dinner (spicy ground lamb & beef) and that was spicier than a mutherfug. I'm a spicy girl too, (and I ain't talkin food preference, wink-wink) so I was surprised that I couldn't finish the dinner cuz the heat was affecting me that much. The ambiance is somewhat of a hip, trendy intimate little spot...great for date nite or even a small group of friends. Service was very attentive both times I've dined here. Weekday lunch specials are now $10 (formerly $8). It's a good deal as you can entree, rice, and salad. I've ordered the chicken kabob the majority times, and it has been seasoned well and tender. You can order pita bread for $1, and it's fantastic! Warning, I loved the lamb special, especially for the weekday special price but was disappointed when I arrived home to see that they only gave me 3 pieces of kabob meat. Other than that, they have been pretty fair portions. Dining in was a good experience as well. I shared the crab cake appetizer (thumbs up) and ordered a chicken kabob of course, and hummus. But really, there's nothing to lament except the higher prices: food is still the same great quality, and portions remain large despite the stylish presentation. Iskender Kebab is the signature dish but sadly it's off-limits to me now as it's got beef. But the lamb and chicken kebabs are just as good. I used my Yelp app and it led me to Bursa for some Mediterranean food. It's a cozy little place that is kind of narrow and deep as you walk in . We sat by the window and had a late lunch. I had a Greek Salad, hot green tea and bf had the chicken kabobs. We started with the falafel appetizers. There were 4 of them, good sized and they came on a bed of arugula salad with a yogurt like dip. They were really good! Next they brought my salad and we shared. About 10 minutes went by and we wondered where the kabobs were. The server told us that the chef read the order wrong and they were cooking them and he apologized for the delay. I really liked that he was honest & made no excuse! Although we were in a hurry, we were just happy that we were told the truth and not made to wait without knowing when the dish would come. The salad was delicious and the kabobs came with a nice side of salad and seasoned fluffy white rice. I swear, I've never had better rice at any restaurant! I even complimented one of the nice guys who came over and talked to us. He gave us some good tips about our future vacation to "Turkey" because he had been there. The bill came and was surprisingly low. I didn't notice if they took anything off because of the wait because we were in a hurry but the prices are good anyway. I was leaning towards a wrap.. but one of my family members who has been to Bursa many times recommended the ground lamb and beef kabob, so I went with that. However, the wraps do have a choice of coming with a side salad or fries.. tempting. We all got our dishes within a reasonable amount of time and each kabob dish came with a side of arugula salad! Yum. Overall, I thought the kabob I had was delicious. Meat was tender, not raw at all. Very flavorful and juicy. It doesn't look too appealing because it almost looks like just a sausage on a stick but it is a good representation of what Mediterranean should taste like. Then we got dessert and shared this chocolate ganache-like cake and their shredded filo with custard cheese dessert, which both were very light yet still rich in flavor. Ok, Bursa. You're pretty tasty. You have friendly, helpful, and adorable staff. Your food is different from most of what's available nearby ... and there's always a little left to enjoy later. You're not over-complicated, and you're not a pretentious, overpriced date. Your endings are sweet, with depth and maturity. Yeah, I guess we can keep seeing each other. In case you can't tell, I like this place. The food feels authentic and it is certainly good. My table loved the "cigars" and the combo as apps, and all of our entrees were impressive. I definitely loved my giant stuffed eggplant (only critique is that it could use a little more feta, but you can always ask for that!). Water was refilled promptly and regularly, plates came from the kitchen fairly quickly, and our service was super pleasant overall. What's keeping them from a 5? Came here for lunch with a colleague and it was great! We shared the haydari appetizer to start and it was delicious! Very light and refreshing. The bread that came with it was warm and tasted fresh too--just off the grill. I then had the salmon wrap with arugula salad. Such a generous portion and it was delicious! Putting some of the haydari on it took it to that next level. The bread on the wrap was the same as the bread served with the haydari and it's awesome! They could sell bags of that stuff and do pretty well. Service was fine and they kept the water glasses full. Very reasonably priced for lunch (about $35 for two entrees and an app). West Portal never ceases to amaze me with its array of delicious ethnic cuisines. Tonight, I had the opportunity to dine at Bursa for the first time, and I was absolutely amazed with the dining experience, from seating to the meal itself. After adding our names to the waiting list, the person at the front, who I suspect was the owner, kindly updated us on our wait every time he came out to call guests ahead us. The waitress was also friendly and had impeccable timing. She first caught me reading through reviews on yelp for the most popular dishes on my phone and then offered suggestions to save me time. Later, she caught me smelling the dipping dish of olive oil and ground herbs for the complementary bread. She proceeded to tell me that it was composed of ground thyme and sesame seeds. We began our meal with a cucumber yogurt salad. The salad was not a salad at all, at least not the kind I was expecting. Rather than a bowl of leafy greens, it was diced cucumber mixed with yogurt, dill, and olive oil. Not that this was a bad thing. It was cool and palate cleansing. For entrees, we had the Samaka Harrah Halibut, Lamb Kabob, and Adana Kabob. Given halibut's low fat content, it's difficult to keep it moist, however, Bursa excelled at this challenge. The tahini sauce drizzled over the fish was beautifully flavored. The Adana Kabob was chock full of spices (a good thing). I loved the pungent flavors and aromas of the spices mixed into the ground lamb and beef. However, it's fairly spicy, so avoid if you do not like spicy foods. The Lamb Kabob was succulent and delicious. The meat was a perfect medium, with plenty of tenderness and juices. Like the Adana, it was served on a bed of jasmine race with a side of salad and cucumber yogurt dip. We finished off our meal with three Turkish Coffees. Turkish coffee is not your typical cup of coffee. The liquid is slightly thick with a slurry of coffee grinds sitting at the bottom of your cup. Interesting tidbit: the slurry at the bottom is traditionally used for divination (like with tea leaves in Harry Potter!). You can order the coffee black or sweetened. We opted for the sweetened. The coffee itself didn't have a discernable coffee taste because of the cardamom, which conferred a fresh, sweet, ginger-like taste. Cardamom is not a flavor I'm used to, however I felt it introduced interesting flavor profiles to the coffee. The entire dining experience was fun, interesting, and enjoyable. I can easily imagine myself becoming a regular here. read more

This place is by far the most horrific restaurant I have ever been to. My mother is allergic to black pepper. We asked the waiter several times what doesn't have pepper on the menu. The waiter recommended the eggplant dish and after 25 mins later without any food, he comes back and finally tells us everything was seasoned with pepper. Most restaurants can accommodate their guests with allergies and would be truthful about the ingredients. Don't EVER trust this restaurant. Their workers are incompetent and unhelpful. read more

The quality of meat is exceptional and it's all cooked very well. I ordered the mixed kabob grill, baba ghanoush, fried cigar pastries, and falafel. * MIXED GRILL (4/5): Great portion. Came with huge cuts of meat that was cooked well, rice, and a few grilled peppers and onions. Great portion. The beef was flavorful and the kofte was nice too. Wish the lamb had a little seasoning, because despite being cooked well, it was bland as hell. The only thing I was sad about is my order did NOT come with salad, which I feel was extremely necessary for such a protein and carb dense meal. * BABA GHANOUSH (5/5): Delicious. Nice consistency and has a good tang. * CIGAR PASTRIES (3/5): Looked good. Tastes just okay. Similar to a cheese lumpia. Slightly sour from the feta, and yet somehow bland. I don't think my order came with the right sauce for it, so I used the tzatziki sauce the mixed grill came with. Cool concept, but would not order again. * FALAFEL (2/5): Extremely dry. Hard and slightly burnt exterior. Did not come with tahini, so I think that's another reason this dish failed. Hoping they'll use this feedback to improve their technique and quality. * BREAD (3/5): The flat bread I received looked and tasted like a fried, greasy thin pancake. Wish I was given something less greasy to go with the meat and baba ghanoush. ______________________________________________________ The ugly: The attention to detail seems to suffer. Regardless of how busy the restaurant may be and whether they are serving customers in person or online, it's important to stay consistent in the quality of food sent out. I came here several times already. I'm going to say this place is good. Service was excellent. The bread with balsamic vinegar and spices is tasty. The bread itself is soft, which is good for me. The Betyi was very good. I really liked it. The ground beef and lamb was interesting. It was on the lean side, which is a plus. It was served in over 10 pieces, sharable, and filling. The beef strongnoff was good too, flavorful, tasty. The beef could be less than well cooked and would probably not feel chewy. Overall, I still liked it They have good rice shaped in a pyramid.
