Came in on a Friday around 4pm. We sat at a hightop close to the bar. There were a few couples at the bar and a couple at another high top. My husband and I sat and waited for over 15 minutes for someone to come over. We had our order ready as we didn't have a lot of time to sit and eat. As we waited more people were sat and waited on, waitresses came out to give to go orders and collect checks around us. Not once were we acknowledged. There were many staff members on and the place was not busy, there was absolutely no reason for anyone to have to wait, even if it was just someone coming over to say hi and that they'd be right back. My husband and I decided if that was the beginning of our visit then how much better could it get so we decided to leave. The hostess told us to have a good night, without even noticing that we were never helped. We let her know the reason we were leaving and went on our way. I hope a manger will see this review and put it to use to better train their staff because each time we are in the establishment we hear problems from other patrons, we've just never experienced it until today. read more

Was shopping at Derby Shoppes when my daughter and I decided to try Burtons. Absolutely delicious! We had the artichoke spinach dip, wonderful. She got the chicken sandwich and I got the cheeseburger. Everything was fabulous, including the service. Spotless, as well. Excellent sangria. We will be back. read more

Restauranteurs, managers, and waitstaff, take notice. This is how it is done! My first visit to Burton's was last night. We had a couple of drinks and my girlfriend ordered a dessert; key lime pie. The manager, Lisa, was walking by our table and looked at the dessert (which looked fine to us). She abruptly stopped and said the key lime pie did not look like it set-up correctly. She took it away and returned with a gift-card for our next visit. She and the waitress, Alana, apologized and said that Burton's prides itself on quality. They could not have been more nice and professional. We were both in awe at the attentiveness, even on a really busy night. Top notch! read more

Had the salmon burger here and it was a decent size; generous amount of grounded salmon meat. I was surprise to find out that the salmon burger isn't served on a bun, but in a naan like pita wrap. The only problem I had with the salmon burger was that it was too bland. It needs more flavor and kick. I would recommend that they marinate the grounded salmon meat, or add a flavorful sauce in the burger. I also had the Trio (3 sample desserts), and I would say the dessert special call "Blonde" was the best, it's this caramel like cream pudding YUMMY! The second best dessert in this Trio sampler is the chocolate cake, which has a perfect balance of bitter dark chocolate and sweetness. My least favorite dessert in the bunch has to be the blueberry cheesecake. The cheesecake blueberry syrup purée is way too sweet and overpowering, also very messy to eat. read more

I rarely write reviews, but I had to for Burtons Grill in Weymouth because I loved it! My family and I went there for a celebration dinner and we had reservations. When we got there, they actually made us wait 15-20 minutes for the tables to clear to seat us, but we didn't mind, we were just talking amongst ourselves. However, instead of just saying sorry and that it would only be a little longer, the manager came out and apologized to us directly and gave us free drinks while we waited with free appetizers too. We declined the offer at first since we were in no hurry and it truly didn't bother us that much but they were very adamant about it so we caved. I was pretty amazed considering I've waited MUCH longer at other restaurants to be seated and they were NEVER as sincere and persistant with their apologies, so this was definately out of the ordinary. I applaud Burtons Grill for the way they treat their customers. Needless to say, the food was excellent. The service was great and our server was very attentive. The atmostphere was perfect, it looked cozy and attractive. I can't rave more about this place, I have already recommended it to other family members and friends. I have been going to Burton's very frequently since it has opened. For years it has always been very good but over the past couple months, it's gone way downhill. All new faces behind the bar. Many of the new bartenders clearly know nothing about service. They get flustered very easily and it makes me not want to go back. The food has also declined with the menu change they did over the winter. Quite honestly, this was a big mistake....as busy as they are. Legal Seafood is opening up next door and if Burton's doesn't get their act together they are going to see a significant hit to their business. Step it up Burton's otherwise I'm going to have to frequent elsewhere! read more

I've been to Burton's many times. The ambience is just right: nicer than your average chain restaurant, but not so fancy that it feels intimidating. The food is great; they use premium ingredients. The biggest pro: they are EXTREMELY aware of and sensitive to food allergies. If you have a food allergy, the manager will come to your table and inform you of the measures the kitchen is taking to prepare your meal. Make reservations! We have always liked Burtons but no more! I ordered a burger with bacon on top but it was delivered RAW--uncooked--NOT undercooked. When I brought it to the attention of the waitress she told me it was not raw it was just not well done. She said the kitchen cooks bacon for varied tastes and you can't please everyone. When the manager brought over a plate of cooked bacon I showed him a piece of the RAW bacon that hadn't made it back to the kitchen. He had the same excuse. Now I was very careful to send back the bacon with a smile because you don't want to make enemies in a restaurant. But the management and wait staff were inconvenienced and rude. Anyone could see it was raw. So we really were surprised by this. We have always enjoyed Burtons but won't be returning. There are plenty of other enjoyable restaurants to patronize. read more

I eat at Burtons once a month or so. It is consistently good. I had lunch their this past Saturday, 3/3. One of my guests is lactose intolerant. Amanda, our wait person was incredibly well-informed about all the ingredients used on the menu. I was very impressed with her knowledge and my guest felt very confident his meal would be safe. Burtons is so cautious about such things that the chef (Brian) actually brought out my guest's adjusted meal. Amanda has great skills and it was nice to meet Brian. Holy salt. Went here for a few drinks and some apps...specifically wanted Buffalo chicken dip as we have had it in the past and loved it,unfortunately this time it was awful. Dip was so much smaller than last time, slightly burnt as well and also the chips were so salty I had to spit it out. Burtons has been become a default choice for celebratory lunch with a friend. We hadn't been in awhile, and I was surprised at menu and price (upwards always upwards) changes. We found it difficult to navigate without spending $30/entree - too high at lunch / and got absolutely no guidance from our waitress. It was clear she had an "attitude" from the minute she (finally) came over I had made a reservation and requested a booth. We were seated in the rear booth closest to the kitchen. Very noisy and freezing . When we complained about the temperature we were told there was "nothing" that could be done about it. My friend still likes it; I plan never to return. I can find service without attitude and salads at a reasonable price of equal quality elsewhere!! read more

We enjoy going to Burtons in Hingham often, but their reservation/table seating plan is horrible! You make reservations, show up on or before the time and they often tell you it'll be another 20-30 minutes. For a restaurant, this is unacceptable and they need to do a better job with their system. Ordered a burger with fries. The burger was nothing special, thin and a bit dry. The fries were awful - extremely dry and tasteless. The manager stopped by to ask how things were. I mentioned the fries were not great so she brought me a fresh batch. Hotter but still really dry and just as awful. Maybe there's better things to eat here. It's certainly not the burger and fries. Went for the first time yesterday - although when I reviewed the menu I realized they have a new restaurant near my house in Virginia so I will be trying that one whenever I return. I was truly surprised at how crowded it was at lunch on a Saturday. To me that says a lot about a restaurant. I though it was very nice that they have good selections for alternative diets - i.e., gluten free. My friend and I had the crab cakes and they were delicious! Almost no filler and very tasty. The french fries were good as well. I found the cole slaw TOO spicy and could not eat it. I have never had spicy cole slaw before, but truly did not enjoy. My friend did not like it either as it was too spicy. The wine selection was very nice. The service was very good. I did think it was a little pricey, but would go back again. read more

Took my wife here for our anniversary. She loved it and I scored brownie points. The food was delicious and fresh. The wine list was awesome and my wife loved that they had vegetarian options right on the menu... that is a rarity at most restaurants (i'm a carnivore and don't struggle with this problem but I was happy that she was happy). My fiance and I have labeled this our go-to spot in the south shore. Their entrees are all solid, chicken, fish, beef etc. I always get the burgers which are excellent. I recommend getting an extra side of pickles as they are really well done here. The wait staff is friendly and attentive. Really busy on the weekend dinner hours so reservations are strongly recommended. Points for being in a great shopping center with a whole foods near by for some after dinner shopping. *An update: I had to come back and give Burton's another star. The service is just so outstanding. We were here on a Monday recently for dinner and decided to try their Oyster special ($1 oysters on Mondays). The manager noticed our oysters were on the small side, so he personally delivered a few extra oysters for us on the house. Add that to their prompt response to my annoying little requests (extra ketchup, extra pickles, we want more! we want more!) These guys are great, delicious, and deserve every star! read more
