Yesterday was my third visit to Busters so I thought it was time for a review. As soon as you open your car door you smell BBQ which always gets my appetite going. Every time I've entered I was warmly greeted by whoever was working the counter. On all 3 visits I've had the Tri Tip meal with chili beans, coleslaw and potato salad. The meat is cooked low and slow on their huge smoker out front. It's tender and juicy and tastes amazing. I learned yesterday that the meat is so much more superior that it now supplies the original location! The sides were also good and I felt the price was spot on. There's a few TV's and a decent dining area as well. Busters is my new favorite BBQ place. read more

This experience was closer to 3.5 stars. Friendly service and the interior is spacious, seems very well kept, and tables are clean. Ordered the tri-tip plate which comes with 2 sides & 2 slices of garlic bread, beans, and a BBQ sauce. Pricing is borderline okay for the amount of food you get, especially when compared to how much fast food is these days. The tri-tip was decent though a bit drier than I would prefer. Had a nice smoke flavor though beyond that it was kinda lacking in flavor department. The bread is good though I will say using both pieces for a sandwich. compounds the drynes factor. If you are sensitive to spice id also recommend getting something less spicy than their 50/50 sauce. Its surprisingly very spicy and too much of it and in my opinion overwhelms the tri-tip. The side salads are ok. Potato salad probably the better one over the macaroni. The beans were just ok. Overall, the food is decent though there is much better BBQ out there. Just left a little underwhelmed by the whole experience. Maybe worth coming back a 2nd time to try again. read more

Had to drop some things off at the rental place around the corner and passed this on my way in. It was about 4:00 in the afternoon and I'd been so busy I hadn't eaten all day and thought I would try Busters (I thought I remembered hearing it was good). From the moment I walked in, Yvonne was super kind and helpful. I was indecisive about what to order and she asked if I wanted to try a piece of tri-tip so she gave me a bite and it was amazing. I'm pretty picky about most food and especially tri-tip(my husband makes an amazing one and I've had the real thing in Santa Maria). I ordered the tri-tip sandwich on her recommendation and got the 50-50 hot and mild mix. The hot barbecue is REALLY good! It is very hot by most people's standards. I liked it though. The garlic bread was perfectly toasted and the tri-tip was incredibly tender and flavorful. Also, Yvonne was a delight and honestly am normally horrible with people's names, but I remembered hers for exactly that reason. I will definitely be back when I'm in the area. The only negative thing I can say is that the atmosphere/decor isn't really my preference as it seemed kind of like a chain restaurant like chipotle or something but I took my order to go so it didn't really matter much to me. He also likes their lemonades. The staff is always kind, accommodating and they always try to get our preferences into meal options that lower the pricing in their system. Fire? Also absolutely. I was sweating like I'd just run a 5K in a sauna. Respectfully, that sauce came to humble me. That said, I love that a barbecue joint offers a healthier-ish lane. I grabbed the veggie bowl with chicken, and for $15? That's a win. Solid scoop of rice, crunchy cabbage, carrots, broccoli, topped with smoky barbecue chicken and that wild, personality-packed sauce. It was giving "I care about my macros, but I also like flavor." Next time though? We're dialing it back to mild or regular. I've learned my lesson. Now if you're like my coworker -- a hot sauce thrill-seeker who treats spice like a competitive sport -- this is your playground. First time here today, came for lunch. We ordered 1/2 pound of chicken breast and the pork rib plate. Came with cole slaw, potato salad and baked beans (you can get mac salad or chili beans as other options) as well as toasted "garlic" bread. Gabe (according to the receipt) helped us at the counter, and was very nice and helpful. He checked in on us a couple of times as well, service was very good. Didn't wait too long for food, but there were only a couple of other tables occupied when we got there so that helped. Overall, the food wasn't bad. My pork ribs, baby backs I'm pretty sure though they don't specify, had a nice smoky flavor and my wife's chicken did as well. Sides were good, though the baked beans were pretty soupy. The thing that keeps our rating down was the distinct lack of seasoning pretty much across the board. If there was any rub at all on my ribs, I couldn't taste it, the mild sauce was just a sweet liquid with no real savory taste though the spicy sauce was much thicker and had more flavor, and the garlic bread had zero garlic taste, it was just a buttered hoagie roll. Did they forget the garlic part? I'd like to recommend it more, but I can't based on this visit. Will I go back? Maybe to try something else, but that's a big maybe. read more

I ordered a tri tip sandwich and asked for it as rare as possible. I know that's not always easy, but I ask so I can hopefully get something from the thicker part. I'm very happy to see this business expand from their roots in Ventura to Thousand Oaks. The venue is in a shopping center and has plenty of free parking. The inside has plenty of seats unlike their location in Ventura. The food is just as good as their original location and is the same price. I enjoyed my tri tip sandwich and my wife enjoyed her tri tip rice bowl. The service is also very good and makes it a nice weekend lunch or dinner outing.
