I've always passed by and never gone it but I was just in time one Saturday and rushed in! The food is good and not bad for its price, especially considering it's for a good cause. But maybe mine was an off batch because everything was entering dry and chewy. But it does come out fast! There's a nice shaded patio to sit if you want to stay and some more tables where you can watch them grilling by the road. If you want tons of sauce, they also sell noh's hawaiin bbq bottles. Oh dear, I was really disappointed with the Elks BBQ on Conejo School Rd. I was there Saturday August 1st. $13 for a small sandwich. The bread was stale and the meat thickly cut and lukewarm warm. No sauce???? I could hardly chew it as it was. (I do have my own teeth). The potato salad and coleslaw was warm. After one bite I threw it all out. My friend ate half of hers but only the meat. I've wanted to check this place out and since we're in town, we did. I got a half chicken ($7) and some beef ribs ($3.50 each) to go. There was a line around 12:15 pm and when they sell out, that's it. We forgot bbq sauce but the flavor and taste was good on its own. I was surprised that they wrapped each beef rib individually. Extremely disappointing experience. I saw the ad for the Easter Egg Hunt at the Elks Lodge in Thousand Oaks and thought it would be a fun event for the kids. We arrived 10 minutes early and it was already overcrowded. The hunt was held in the parking lot, which was unsafe and chaotic. No instructions were given, and by the time we got outside, there were no eggs left. There were no limits per child, so some kids walked away with baskets full while many others, including mine, got nothing. They handed out expired in February candy afterward, which added to the disappointment. Overall, it was a waste of time and very upsetting for the kids. If you can't organize it properly, it's better not to do it at all. I just regret going there as it was such a waste of time! read more

I needed some hand holding, and she walked me through the whole process . met with me several times and was very thorough . the wedding went off without a hitch. Just had a shocking experience. I love their BBQ and typically spend between $40 - 50 every other week. Everyone has always been very nice. Based on the math I probably spend $800 - 1,000 a year. The person that make their sauce has been out for quite a while. Knowing that the chicken doesn't have sauce I brought a cup to pour my own. As soon as I started to pour the sauce a woman runs out the door and screams at me. It was surreal to say the least. The people sitting around me were also shocked. I showed her how much sauce I had the nerve to pour and she changed her tune. Other people had the nerve to bring their own containers and we laughed about. At that point I was really angry but kept my mouth shut realizing this must be a difficult personality trait that she has to deal with on a daily basis and that she probably treats all strangers that harshly and rudely. It's a real bummer for me because I can't allow myself to go back and instead of referring people to their Saturday BBQ I am going to do the opposite and be sure to tell everyone I can how mean, rude and petty this women was. read more

Yes yes yes!! Amazing bbq at a great price. These guys are pit chefs I'd put up against any others. Their sauce is on point and they sell it in bottles! I always order at least one extra bottle for my pantry. I was running late and arrived at 1:55 a couple weeks ago and they were down to their last last tri tip. Normally I wouldn't order tri tip, as usually I go for the beef and pork ribs. I took what they had and wow it was fire!! So now in addition to beef and pork ribs (it used to be just beef ribs until I tasted the pork) I'll now get a tri tip and enjoy spectacular sandwiches during the week. If you thought California weather was dry, wait until you try the Tri-Tip Sandwich here, which consists of meat and a plain French roll, that's it, period. (I've had this sandwich 3x over the past 2 years - first review). Base minimum to qualify as BBQ, but so sparse it's nearly offensive. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to support the Elk's but they've really got to put some effort in improving their offering to get more repeat customers. No sauce, no fixings, no garnish, nothing (BBQ sauce available on the side but you'll need at least three). Also got the rib which was so dry I just threw it out. I think they pre-cook and it sits in a room until sold because mine wasn't hot and just really dry, bone dry. Yes BBQ meat is cooked here, but it's without the love, magic, special recipe, or anything enjoyable and I simply can not recommend. I hope they improve. read more

Situated a coupl blocks away from Thousand Oaks Toyota, I followed the sign for local barbecue and that's where the hunt began. Upon arrival to the Elk's Lodge, I smelled the mouth-watering smoked meats saw a sizeable line of people waiting to get their fix at this out-of-the-way feast. Greeted by friendly locals, the atmosphere makes you feel right at home. I received my tri-tip sandwich with sauce and a side of fritos chips less than two minutes after ordering. The meat was well-smoked but not as hot as I had hoped. The ashes from the Northern-Californian fires added a little extra flavor too. The bread was lightly brushed with their garlic zing. Overall, I'd go back to TO Toyota to get more barbecue and try the ribs which were sold out and probably for a good reason too. My husband's favorite ribs spot in Thousand Oaks. This is our 2nd time here, and he's always eager to come early since there's only a 3 hour window in which this place is open to the public. We ordered 2 Full rack of beef ribs (7 pieces per full rack)! They cook them over their large grill...you can see the smoke coming out as you drive up the road & park in the parking lot next to their BBQ stand. I had been wanting to visit this place for quite some time. We came here about 20 min before closing time one Saturday morning. By that time they were all out of the chicken sandwich....which seemed like a good sign. I got a beef rib and tri tip sandwich. They also sell soft drinks and chips to go on the side. There is no where outside to eat the food so everyone just takes it back to their car to enjoy elsewhere. I found the meat to be extremely oily. I could barely get the meat off the rib and it was very very charred. I ended up giving up and wrapping it back up and tossing it out in the trash. I am glad that I didn't buy a whole rack. The tri tip sandwich was just ok...kinda salty, nothing spectacular. They sold out of sandwiches while I was paying so obviously people like them. It just wasn't for me. read more
