I've driven by so many times and finally stopped in to try the Kaluha pork plate. It's very small inside, and clean. Prices are good for the amount of food given. The plate came with sticky rice, cooked cabbage, two slices of zucchini, and mac salad. The Kaluha pork had a smoky flavor similar to bacon. The Mac salad was just okay. That was my main reason for coming here, and I was underwhelmed. No carrots, or tanginess. Overall good for the price! read more

In Moorpark, this yummy hawaiian BBQ establishment is alright for the area. Don't expect an explosion of flavors that will blow your mind type-of-meals... however, this place is still great to satisfy your belly. Coming from Camarillo, this place is about 15-20 minutes from my area. You get a nice view of the farmland such as underwood ranch on the way to this establishment. Reminds me of a country backroads. However, I digress, the main reason we're here is for the food. It's a nice and clean restaurant from the outside. Limited parking outside as it is such a small and tight plaza next to a donut shop and Mexican food. Stepping through the doors, you are greeted with the standard hawaiian bbq offerings such as Chicken Katsu, BBQ short ribs, beef, among other staples such as musubi with either spam or BBQ chicken (it's 2 pieces to the order). They also offer the mini portion which is a smaller version with the appropriate reduction in price of any of their main plates. Additionally, the people behind the counter were always courteous and polite with me. The chicken katsu was alright but it was devoid of any lingering flavor. The texture is crunchy but it leaves much to desire. The BBQ short rib was delicious, however, the ribs were a bit chewy for my taste. The beef plate was good but not that great. I tried the BBQ chicken musubi and Spam musubi on two different occasions and was surprised by how big they were, coming with two pieces in a box. These are worth getting if you're hungry due to the size. The main dish that I wanted to compliment them on is the house fried rice which has shrimp, pineapple, beef, and fried rice. They also give you the classic hawaiian teriyaki sauce to pour over the rice to give the umami flavor. The rice was fried golden and it tasted scrumptious. The portion size for the price was also big enough for two meals if you saved it for later. It even tastes better 5 hours later. Overall, I give this place a 4 yelp star due to satisfying the Hawaiian food genre which everyone knows and loves, a vibrant fusion of traditional Polynesian food, mixed with influences from Europe, Asia, and the Americas. This small family owned restaurant has a cozy, clean store that serves up Hawaiian favorites. I ordered the bbq combo plate with fired shrimp appetizer added. If you're craving Hawaiian BBQ, this place is well worth checking out. I've been coming to this location the last 3 years and can say they always deliver quality food every time. Personally I love the Chicken Katsu, BBQ Beef and Musabi, but we will also get the pork and shrimp here as well. Whether ordering ahead or placing it there, they do a great job. Depending on what time you get there, parking can be challenge as the spots are small in the shopping center, especially if anyone is getting a delivery. For whatever reason it seems like there are always individuals double parking in their SUVs and Trucks with the limited parking. The food was on point, and the portions are huge. They don't play around. Plenty of food, Especially for the price. The service was friendly and they were quick. As for the ambiance, it's small with a hole in the wall feel but we all know sometimes those are the best places and in this case, it was.
