The standout was the sauce for the calamari. We understood from the server that the distinctive taste is from the saffron in it. We liked it so much we got some to take with us. - the blackberry burrata salad was delicious - my ribeye was cooked pretty close to medium rare (maybe more rare than medium rare). There was a good amount of fat on my piece though. Meat was tender. - the flatiron steaks were great, tender - the sauce that came with the steaks had a nice smoky flavor - the creamed spinach was tasty - the garlic mashed potatoes were creamy and good - the crab cakes were large and had a nice crispy coating - the peach melba with sour cream ice cream was delicious. A bit still too frozen at first though - the banana pie was good, with lots of peanut butter. Was shaped more like a covered tart than an open pie. Large portion. The not-so-good: - All the dishes, and the steaks in particular, were overly salted. I like salt a lot but I think it was a bit excessive. So back off on the salt a bit. Also not so good was the surprise 3% credit card surcharge. A charge for using a credit card wasn't mentioned anywhere on the menu or website. I know this is built into most restaurants' pricing, but to have it tacked on after the fact without disclosing it initially isn't cool. We got quite a few things off the menu starting with the cheesesteak eggrolls, break bread, and hamachi crudo. We also tried the butcher burger and filet mignon with the Brussels sprouts. Cocktails we tried the Love You Long Time (adding alcohol), Dick & Marie (personal fave) and the Nice Pair which was also tasty. Here's the thing with the food..... it was ok. Nothing was memorable. In fact I completely forgot we ordered the Calamari as I wrote this review because it was just ok. The crudo had a weird texture, and everything else was just..... fine. I think for that price point - I can think of three other establishments I would choose first - albeit this is the most convenient for me. The service was also nothing spectacular. The A5 Wagyu was different, it had a full and bold flavor. The Zabuton was my steak and I ate it with pure flavorful joy. The ribeye was just as good. The sides were so good too. The restaurant has a beautiful atmosphere, the service was friendly and attentive, and every dish was plated with care minus the filet that left a lot to be desired. The steak plate was completely empty and the filet was torn up for some odd reason (see photos). We shared the bubble bread, shrimp cocktail, blackberry & burrata salad, wedge salad, shishito peppers, Verlasso salmon, double-cut pork chop, branzino, filet mignon, mushrooms, Brussels sprouts, and mac & cheese. The salmon, mushrooms, shishito peppers, mac & cheese, and warm bubble bread were our favorites, and everyone enjoyed their meal. Our only real issue was that a couple of the shrimp in the shrimp cocktail were slightly undercooked in the center. Our meal for four came to about $470 including tip, a cocktail, a beer, and a mocktail, so it's definitely a special occasion restaurant. The overall vibe of the place is casual but slightly upscale without feeling stuffy. All the staff and even other customers at the bar were extremely friendly, giving it a neighborhood upbeat feel! The cheesesteak eggrolls were good, but I expected cheesesteak and it was ground beef. For our main dishes, we had the branzino which was delicious but again a smaller portion than I expected. The Zabuton was the most delicious steak ordered, but the cut was different and looked unappealing on the plate when served. The ribeye was also delicious but plating was again disappointing. The flat iron was good and met expectations. For our sides, we had the macaroni and cheese which was excellent, the brussel sprouts were excellent and the wedge salad all delicious. The mashed potatoes were good. I wish I had taken pictures of the steaks, but was disappointed and took pictures of mostly the delicious sides. The first flat iron steak came out medium well and we wanted medium, so they refired it and brought back a new steak but it was definitely the same Zabuton piece, not flat iron (good deal for us lol). Came here for my birthday and had such a great experience. I ordered the "I'm Samantha" to drink and loved it. We started with the Break Bread, then had the ribeye, Brussels, and mac and cheese and everything was so good. The ribeye was cooked perfectly and the sides were just as good. Definitely your local neighborhood steakhouse! Fairly priced and great energy. This spot has just opened a few months and I've been here twice. The ambiance was well lit if you were sitting in the front of the restaurant and there's another back room that is a bit darker. I have experienced both spots (back room for dinner with friends and front at the bar with having dinner alone). I had their yellowtail appetizer. The sauce is AMAZING. I would go back here just for this. Our server, I forgot her name, she's short, longer hair with glasses, beautiful and super sweet, recommended to use this sauce for my steak to dip in. Literally a 100/10 recommendation. Their oysters were delicious, small and meaty. I forgot where they're from. Their bartender recommended me to try their salmon appetizer. I feel like this one was lacking a bit of more flavor. I also had their bavette steak and this cut was my favorite compared to the Wagyu cut. Not only because it was more tender, but probably because it was more meaty, if that makes sense. The sides were delicious. I'm a sucker for a good side of mushrooms and the sauce was extremely flavorful. I also tried their dessert and this was so delicious, but I could not finish it. I was unable to take a photo of my bavette steak or yellowtail appetizer from my other visit, but I would definitely recommend trying both of those dishes on the menu. The only reason why I would rate this place a 4/5 stars is because my Wagyu cut was delayed for an extremely long time. And the manager on duty did come by to apologize, but also said to me "I would take care of your glass of wine, but you got a bottle." Mind you, I wasn't upset about being there longer since it was my night to decompress and relax, but that comment threw me off. He did though, take care of my side dish, I didn't ask for. The hostess was really sweet and Jenna was our server, she answered all our questions and was able to describe the items to me along with providing recommendations. We've visited Butcher & Thief twice in the past few months and have really enjoyed it. Both times I ordered the Zabuton cut Wagyu steak. I am a medium plus girl and both times it was cooked perfectly! I've been to higher end steakhouses, with higher pricing, that couldn't do this. Over our visits we've also had their bread, cheesesteak egg rolls, calamari, and salads. I would order the bread every time! The egg rolls and calamari are good, not amazing. Salads are great. Service was friendly and attentive. We were celebrating our anniversary on our recent visit and the server graciously brought us each a glass of non-alcoholic champagne, which actually was pretty good. My husband and I don't really drink (I ordered an iced tea and he had a Coke) so I really appreciated the gesture. The restaurant is open and contemporary, with outdoor seating available. It can get loud in the back dining area, especially if there's a large party, so not the best spot if you're looking for intimate conversations. Reservations are recommended. Also, when you arrive, be aware that it's tucked into the middle of a shopping center behind other buildings, so it can be a little tricky to spot from the parking lot. We had the peanut butter bacon again...something we also ordered on our first visit, and it's absolutely incredible. The flavor combination is surprisingly perfect. I saw another reviewer say they wouldn't try it because it didn't look appealing...well, all I can say is: huge mistake! HUGE! We also ordered the Philly cheesesteak rolls again, which are a savory masterpiece. They're packed with flavor and were just as good the second time around. My husband had the branzino, which came with a delicious tapenade that paired beautifully with the fish. We also ordered a burger with steak fries, and the burger was cooked to absolute perfection. Honestly, it's been a long time since I've had a restaurant burger cooked that well. We wanted to try dessert, but we were simply too full. On our first visit, I had the pork with apple butter and sautéed mushrooms, while my husband ordered the curry chicken thighs. That time we also shared the banana cream pie with peanut butter caramel, which was fantastic. They have a smaller wine list, but it's well curated with great options. We were seated next to the window and provided me with a little purse stand which I thought was a nice touch. All were outstanding, best apps ever. We then went with Steak Frites, NY Strip, Brussels Sprouts, and Dirty Rice. The steaks were cooked to perfection and the sides were well prepared and tasty. Last night was my first time trying Butcher & Thief and unfortunately they did not deliver. My hubby and I decided to sit at the bar which was pretty empty when we got there. And as we waited for service from our bartender, we couldn't understand why it was taking so long for him to take our food order. I'm sure our bartender was probably trying his best to be funny, but it definitely didn't translate. When we asked for suggestions about what was good, we couldn't get a straight answer from him and it was kinda awkward. So we decided to order what we thought would be good and decided to try the Banh Mi sandwich and the Steak Frites which both came with fries. As an appetizer, we decided to try the bacon peanut butter, and when it came out, I refused to eat it because it looked utterly disgusting. My hubby who will eat almost anything, said that it didn't taste anything like the description and that it tasted like steak. He wasn't necessarily thrilled with the appetizer but ate it anyway. We finally got our entrées, and my hubby did like the Banh Mi sandwich but surprisingly did not eat the fries. I dug into my Steak Frites and was immediately disappointed with the way it was cooked. It was not as tender as it should have been, and it was a bit overdone which sucked the moisture right out of it. Even with their special homemade A1 like sauce, it wasn't any better. And my hubby, and I noticed that the fries that came with our entrées were double fried. It's like the fries were fried twice in oil and again all the moisture was sucked out of those potatoes and even if you put sea salt on it, it literally tasted like nothing. My best description for those fries was that it tasted like double fried nothingness, if that makes sense. Speaking of my meal alone, this was my least favorite and I don't really see myself coming here again after this lackluster experience. I think my biggest disappointment at Butcher & Thief is the taste and quality of food. Our total for the evening for one appetizer, two entrées and one cocktail drink came to $110 with tip and for the quality of meal, very overpriced. A restaurant that can't properly execute a steak has a long way to go in terms of being a successful restaurant. I really was looking forward to trying a new place and loving it, but unfortunately, that was not the case. I will say that the restaurant is beautifully decorated but that's not really enough to make it great, especially in a city like Las Vegas. I wish Butcher & Thief luck and hope things improve if they want to stay in business. Overall, I cannot recommend this place but feel free to give them a whirl if you want. read more

We came in for lunch for the first time and, not going to lie, we had a little trouble finding the restaurant at first. We were looking for a sign, but you really can't see it until you get out of your car. Once we found it, though, everything was excellent. The hostess was incredibly friendly and seated us right away. She asked how our day was going and made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. Our server, Dean, was fantastic. Since it was our first visit, he took the time to explain the menu and answer our questions. We started with the Shishito Peppers and Peanut Butter Bacon. Both appetizers were delicious and surprisingly filling. For our entrées, we ordered the Verlasso Salmon and the Butcher Burger with fries. The salmon was moist, tender, and full of flavor. The burger was juicy, and the bread tasted incredibly fresh. Everything was cooked perfectly. What really stood out was Dean's service. He checked on us regularly, chatted with us a bit, and shared some information about the restaurant, which made the experience feel more personal and welcoming. This is definitely a place we'll be coming back to. It's a great lunch spot where you don't need to be overdressed, but it still has a classy and upscale atmosphere.
