I have been here several times to buy stuff for my little one. They carry pretty high quality products that are not always available at places like Target, etc. The prices I have to say a bit high sometimes but you do get what you pay for. Worst place ever. The people were extremely rude. For a kids place my experience at this location was bad. I've tried contacting them Through email/phone etc. and since it's closed they haven't tried to get back to me. Sold me A car seat with some type of bugs. This is unacceptable. If you skim over or disregard anything else I write here, at least READ THIS: Visiting Buttercup and talking with Natalie should be a necessary requirement for any first-time parents-to-be. Apparently my wife and I do not fit the prototypical Pasadena/South-Pas parental dichotomy, since we **gasp** both work until 6pm Monday-Friday. This point was made quite evident to us when we decided to test run some strollers after work this past Monday. Because unless you're a stay-at-home wife/mom with nothing to do during the day, well then the Pasadena-at-Lake triumvirate of Giggle, Right Start, and Pottery Barn Kids are NOT for you. For you see, they close at 6pm, and if you're like us and are just getting out of the office at that time, those three shops neither want nor need your business. Undeterred and Determined to test out the perfect stroller(s) for our perfect bundle-to-be, Yelp guided us to the only non-Babies 'R Us store that was still open: Buttercup. Thank God it did. As I and my preggo wifey waddled into the store (I can't help it, sometimes I waddle), we were warmly greeted by Natalie and another associate. We told her, "We are clueless parents-to-be, and we wanted to see if we could check out some strollers?" Before we realised it, almost two hours had passed. Buttercup was closing, and Natalie had broken down every style of stroller, glider, bottle, high chair and carseat that they carry in the store. There was never any hard sell; we didn't feel intimidated or ignored for not actually buying anything; previous customers even popped into the store and thanked Natalie for helping them with the new stroller they were using. Needless to say, I was amazed. I have never experienced such great customer service. So long story short - drop by Buttercup, it's a great store with some of the best baby products on the market. And have a conversation with the very-knowledgeable, very friendly Natalie. And a note for the owners - give the girl a raise, she deserves it :-) Oh and to Giggle, Right Start, & Pottery Barn Kids - would it KILL you guys to stay open til 7pm on a weekday? Be careful before you buy. Read below why. It's a nice store to get items for babyhood (it's a 4 star quality store in selection). I tried to return a few items the next day as I realized they were not necessary and to my surprise I could not return the items for reimbursement (and still packaged)! This was not stated when I bought the items the day before. They only provide store credit. As a visitor to LA (not living there) this was quite an inconvenience. The person who helped me was aware that I was from out of town and would not make an exception. I used the store credit to get other items, but I felt that I was forced to buy items from them. I stopped by Buttercup to visit my friend and Oh Em Gee...This place is overloaded with cuteness! Even though Im not preggo but congrats to all the mommy and daddy to be out there...i want everything. A lot of modern strollers, toys, baby care, etc. They have everything! Okay Im not biased or anything (only cuz my bff works there) but even though she was in the back, the person in the front was really nice. A welcome greet, a gentle smile, and already I am in love with the place. And of course I got the special wassup because she finally found out that i am friend with a worker here. I'll have to say, the store here has plenty to choose from, but considering we just stopped by Giggle yesterday, the bar was set high for us. One great thing we found at this store was a CD collection of various bands, that are played to sound like lullabies. Just couldn't say no to the U2 version.... apparently there are also Bob Marley, The Cure, Depeche Mode, Smashing Pumpkins among many more... Very friendly and helpful employees here. One thing that was done well here is the store is very spacious, compared to Giggle. One pregnant woman standing in an aisle at Giggle, you can't get by. One pregnant woman in each of the 2 aisles there, it basically looks like the 405... This store, that wasn't an issue. read more

Great selection on eco friendly - safe gears for babies from England, Japan, Germany, etc. This is one on few place you can get Jellycat books in LA. (Used to be there are more independent bookstores in LA that carried their soft books). Also perfect place to try out baby carriers. We stopped in Buttercup as a way to kill time before a movie at the Arclight and I was pleasantly surprised at the awesome selection this store carries. As a first time mom to be, I feel like I've read every review of every possible baby item, and it was great to see that Buttercup carries a lot of the trendier, cuter gear that you can only ever find online. It's a great alternative to BRU or Target in selection and the staff was extremely nice. I called a few days later to inquire about a glider chair I saw on their floor and Daniel could not have been more helpful. I absolutely LOVE this place! So glad I finally got the chance to stop by yesterday. Love that it is very spacious and has a good selections of baby items. Hubby and I came here to look at the Uppababy Vista stroller. Jamie, the sales person, was very nice and knowledgable. She explained everything about the stroller and demonstrated how to use it. Big plus! =) she was very patience and not a pushy sales person at all. We ended up not ordering the stroller at this time, but will definitely be coming back when we are ready in the next month or two since our little guy/girl is not due until January. We didn't leave empty handed though....hehe...we ended up buying a ErgoBaby carrier. The material is soft and made with organic materials. Uncle Dave is awesome because 1) he's always there for his niece and nephew 2) teaches them reading and life skills and 3) buys them eco-friendly boutique clothing and toys from Buttercup. I give this 1 star review to their two sales girls in the store on 3/2/2012, Friday night. Buttercup was originally another store called "Currant", Both of them carry higher end baby products, I used to go Currant a lot so when I found out Buttercup is exactly the same type of store, i was excited to go. However, unfortunately, when I finally made it there from my dinner in Tokyo wako (diagnoally across on 2nd floor), it was barely 9:00 and they shut the door right in front of my face, I was a little bit disappointed and stood there hoping they could say " oh sorry we are closed". well, the two girls seems discussed something and one (tall and dark hair) came near and guess what ? she turned off the light right in front of my face, by ignoring me, regardless I am carrying a 5 Mo old, along with my mom, my husband and my 2 yr old toddler. what will you feel ? you get an attitude from a baby store like this ? Don't you think this is rude ? I think it is highly inapporiporate. It only tells me their sales is not well trained to be parent or baby friendly, and they have no sympathy towards their target customers. If you are not friendly to their kids, they won't buy from you, especially to new parents. I have some similar experience where I get some apologies such as " sorry we are closed", or " sorry, but we open at 10:00 AM tomorrow". etc like that, but have never experience a light shut off right in front of my face when I was trying to look through the window. and this is a baby product store. Well, I can always go to GIGGLE which is right around the corner if I want to get same quality of products, Giggle's sales (especially the gay guy) is VERY experienced, I've always very pleased (and surprised) how much he knows about what he's selling. BTW, for another review saying they don't give you refund but only "store credit", this reminds me that when Buttercup was "Currant", they do have this policy, they don't allow refund but only store credit. read more

Unfortunately the hours were incorrect on their Google page as well as on their door. My (wife 7 months pregnant) left work early so we could shop at Buttercup as it was posted that they were open until 7pm. We were frustrated that in fact they were closed when we arrived at 6:25pm. As small business owners ourselves, we understand that these things happen but please be mindful and consistent with hours of operation. Worst of all the "new" January hours posted said that they go into effect 1/5, but yesterday was 1/14. Huge disappointment as we don't have a lot of free time to prepare and shop for our first arrival. Consistently is huge. Hope to make it another time. read more

I love this store! It's my favorite store for cool cute useful baby items. I have never wanted to walk in here because I thought it's just going to be overpriced baby items but I was wrong and I am so glad I decided to take a look. We come here at least once a week just to window shop or buy ransom stuff. Recently we purchased the uppababy Cruz and the nuna rava and let me tell you! The customer service was exceptional! He is the highest manager (i didn't get his name) and he answered all of my questions even when i kept changing my mind about the colors on the items i want. We originally came upon this great store about 8-9 months ago when we were expecting and didn't know where to start. Everyone knows about the internet and it's prices but what if you want to feel and see something in person? Well they have a great policy of matching Amazon or other major online retailer prices on major purchases. Furthermore, they have knowledgeable staff such as Joanna, who helped us pick out everything we needed during our last trip. Parking can be a little inconvenient as you have to park in the subterranean garage but we have always had luck on the street since Gelson's went out of business. The wife and I decided to swing by to look at what the store had. Our baby will be born in less than 3 months and we had not bought a single item for the nursery. Instead, we have been reading books on brain development, baby this and baby that. Anyway, Kiara helped us out. She was very very sweet and helpful. I think I decided to buy here because of her. I did find the stroller that we ended up buying cheaper online but Kiara was so friendly and asked us to support the business that we had to do it. The one negative thing was that we were told that we could order the stroller in whatever color we had it because they didn't have them all in stock. They didn't tell us that it would be considered a special order and that there would be no returns allowed on this order. I didn't want to flip out but this should have been said from the beginning. Better yet, this should not be considered a special order. It's a standard stroller in a standard color. Hopefully the owners see this and address it. aires was the one who told us that it would be a special order without the possibility of a return. Anyway, we will most likely go back soon. I am very happy to have found Buttercup! They have the cutest selection of baby items ranging from strollers to blankets to feeding trinkets. It's like a baby boutique... so they weed out all the crappy items and sell quality and useful items. The staff is above your average customer service. I think I may have spent an entire hour test driving umbrella strollers. The young lady explained every single feature and the pros and cons ( I forgot her name). I absolutely hate to give 1 star reviews but I only do when a business infuriates me and this was no exception. I must admit when it first opened years ago, I fell in love with this place. This store truly has a TON of super cute, unique baby items that are reasonably priced. Unfortunately, no matter how adorable their stuff is, I refuse to go back in there! I'm not sure if it's under new management, but the customer service a few days ago left me walking out with such disdain that it still bothers me to this minute. My family went in there to look for some fun toys, and we found two items that we wanted to purchase. I went to the register and waited for someone to ring me up. A guy who was stocking up told me "she'd be with me in a moment." Grateful that he acknowledged me, I waited and waited. She, who I'm assuming is the owner, was helping another lady the whole time. After 10 minutes of waiting, the owner attempts to ring me up but has trouble with finding the item in her computer. As she's fumbling around with it, the customer that she was helping, hands her 100$ bill from behind me and says sorry. Dude!!! WTF!!! I already wasted 10 minutes waiting for you to just take my money... And now you want me to wait some more so you can ring up this lady before me? Am I invisible? So the owner proceeds to ring her up while I wait and just watch. Needless to say I left. I'd totally be understanding if she had a crying baby or even asked me if she could ring her up first. But honestly after watching you help another customer for 10 minutes while I waited to pay at your cash register just makes no sense. Get some business sense people. My hubby and I came here to check out strollers and car seats in person. As much as most baby registry browsing can be done online, we really wanted to see and test out car seats and strollers in person. We were pleasantly surprised by the excellent customer service provided by Natalie. She is a young girl that works here and is very knowledgeable about all of the products. She was super helpful in showing us all of the features of each of the different strollers and car seats that they carry. Keep in mind that they really only have the high-end brands like Uppababy, bugaboo, and the Bee 3 series.
