The menu prices were all affordable, portions were big including the short stack! Iced lattes were yummy and the whipped cream was also very tasty. They have the best Gluten Free pancakes I have ever had EVER! I absolutely love coming here for breakfast they have plenty of coffee options and vegan/GF choices too!!! It's a beautiful place and the owners are always present to make sure everything is running smoothly. The service is phenomenal and the food it out of this world!! Buttermilk's Kitchen is a nice breakfast/brunch spot. It's a small location, so be prepared to wait a bit, but worth it. They don't take reservations, but for parties of 6 or more you can call ahead and place your name of a first priority list, which is helpful. The food is decent and the service is good. I ordered the sweet potato waffle with turkey bacon and a side of hash browns. Big portions. That was my first time having a sweet potato waffle. It was a bit dry, but enjoying. Went back and once again I can't believe how bad the employees were there. The girls seating people were very slow and the guy hosting was a nasty person. First time trying Buttermilk's Kitchen. We went bright and early on a Sunday morning and sat right away at the bar. The only downside was no serving alcohol before 10am due to town codes. But it's ok, I can survive without having a mimosa lol. They had freshly squeezed orange juice, which my husband enjoyed. And I ordered an iced vanilla latte with oatmilk. It was delicious. My husband went with eggs, bacon, ham, and hashbrowns, it also came with a biscuit but I took it. It was really good, it fell apart easily but I enjoyed it very much. I ordered the chicken and waffles, while the chicken was a little bland, the mayo-syrup dipping was great with it. Great place to eat! Will be back soon! read more

Wow! The breakfast at Buttermilk's was insanely good. I'll revert and write more, but adding a review to save this for my next trip to Patchogue. I had the corned beef hash breakfast and my wife enjoyed the egg breakfast with a kids size s'mores French toast. Every aspect of our meal, including coffee, was a solid 10/10. Visited this place last Saturday, It was decently crowded around 11am but I was able to snag a table for 5 pretty quickly. We were given water immediately after sitting. The decor is simple but cute. They gave us some time to review the menus, we ended up ordering chicken n waffles with honey butter, the waffles could stand on it own and I love that. It was delicious, with the honey butter it sent it over the top. My daughter had steak n eggs she devoured her steak nothing was left but the bone. We had 2 orders of short stacks with bacon n eggs. The pancakes are big so both left with a goodie bag, and the banana fosters French toast was good. The bread was huge, my husband didn't even finish it. All the food came out at the same time. Amazing spot! Super clean, delicious food, outstanding service and attention to detail!

I've had some hit or miss experiences at this place. I'll start with the good: - Their hash-browns are incredibly tasty. Probably the best I've had. These alone keep me coming back. - The morning Jogger burrito was also pretty good. Portion sizes are big, I ended up taking some home. I swapped out the swiss cheese for caramelized onions which was a very tasty upgrade. - The benedicts here are good. I haven't been very impressed with their level of service, the waitstaff has been one of my main issues here. I arrived with a coffee in hand and was told I couldn't bring in outside beverages. There had been a 30 minute wait, so I got coffee at a close by cafe while waiting. I respect their policy - but still had a very full drink. I asked if I could step outside to finish it while the rest of my party sat, and was rudely told "the whole party has to be here for us to seat you." We WERE all here, I was simply trying not to toss out an $8 coffee. Had I stepped outside of have a cigarette or take a call I don't think they would have even blinked, they were just very weird and rude about the coffee situation. I ended up having to uncomfortably chug as much as I could, and still had to toss out about 1/3 of it. - One member of our party ordered hash-browns as a side, but received bacon when the order arrived at our table. In flagging this, her dish was taken away (bacon removed) and brought back with hash-browns - after the plate was already at our table for several minutes. I certainly HOPE this bacon wasn't repurposed or put on another plate! It is incredibly unsanitary if that's what happened. Found it odd and rude that they didn't just bring out the hash-browns and apologize for the misunderstanding - either they threw out the bacon (which was a waste), or put it on someone else's plate (which is disgusting). The POG juice is a miss for me here, I have had much better elsewhere. I do think the hash-browns alone will probably have me coming back here, but I sincerely hope their service improves in the meantime. read more

When we put our name on the list we were told it would be about 10 minutes. Before we knew it, our table was ready! We both started with a Samoa Cappuccino. I heard many great things about this. So we just had to try it. The decor and the ambiance of the restaurant is clean and nice. Murals of farm animals around the place. The staff was very friendly. We had a new waiter who started about two weeks ago. He was good still learning but good. We ordered Cinnamon Roll Pancakes. Breakfast Burrito, Belgian waffle, biscuit and sausage gravy. Our side were sweet potatoes fries, fries and crispy bacon. Okay, cinnamon roll pancakes were amazing just perfect no need for syrup. Belgian waffle perfect. I guess that's where it stops with the name Buttermilk. I assume that the biscuits would be perfect too but I was wrong. I wasn't a fan of the biscuits and the sausage gravy was very oily. The bacon was great and so was both set of fries. I must admit I thought this place was a bit pricey, compared to the other brunch spots was always visit. Not sure if I would return here again but if I do it would only to order pancakes or waffles. Or maybe lunch. I did they burgers looked amazing. So hopefully they taste good too. read more

Cute little diner vibes and the staff was absolutely lovely. I had some of the BEST gluten free French Toast here while I was in the area. It was tough to choose though because there were lots of gluten free options. I also had a side of bacon which tasted like it might have been cooked in an area of the stove with some other seasoned food so I'm not sure if that was celiac friendly. Helpful tip about parking from the server - the street parking out front uses a meter and is closely monitored and ticketed. The back parking lot is a much better bet. I think it also has a meter, but I think they rarely patrol it. Didn't cause me problems anyway! read more

The menu has plenty of options, with lots of enticing, options for pancakes, French, toast, or waffles. I tried the Cinnabon pancakes, and they were good. One of the best breakfast places I've been to in Suffolk County. I ordered the Traitor (egg Benedict) with a twist and it was delicious. My boyfriend and his family enjoyed their meals very much. The omelettes, the burrito, the eggs, sausages, and home fries were all good. The freshly squeezed orange juice was amazing, you can never go wrong with a nice cup of freshly squeezed orange juice. I've recently written up a few breakfast reviews (including this one) which have stated that I'm not a big "sweet breakfast" kinda guy. I prefer the savory selections...and yet, both reviews involved me getting sweet menu items (okay, with a little savory on the side). That was the case a few weeks ago at Buttermilk's Kitchen where my buddy and I had a splendid breakfast together. We're not using that other b-word (ya know, brunch), because it was 10:45 in the mornin' and our meal did not consist of any bottomless mimosas. Though I'll give Buttermilk's some credit for having a slew of alcoholic drinks as well as local beers on tap. Nah, my morning beverage consisted of an iced raspberry white chocolate latte. Pretty tasty with the fruity flavor coming through. A little speared raspberry garnish on top was a nice touch. What was also nice was the staff. We were actually asked (after sitting) if we could move over to another table (so they could accommodate a large party) and we had no problem doing it. So between the two waiters, the hostess, and what looked like a manager (or chef), we were checked in on several times. Ya gotta like when the staff is caring enough to see how your meal and experience is going. Speaking of meal, as previously mentioned, I went down the sweet path because hey, the place is called buttermilk's and so I believed pancakes needed to happen. My choice consisted of the Nutella stuffed pancakes and a side of hash browns. In need of a little more savory, I got one egg (scrambled) on the side. Both those savory items were totally solid in taste, but I'll give it up to the pancakes for making me a sweet fan for at least one other morning. Well, those pancakes could be a small portion of why I didn't go with five stars. They were packed full of Nutella so I can't say they were skimping me on the stuffed aspect, but dang was it a rich plate of pancakes. Perhaps a little less Nutella (I can't believe I'm saying that) might have been a good thing. I'll also throw in our short wait which honestly wasn't as long as they quoted, but the fact we had to wait with open tables in sight was curious. Just another case of staffing issues for businesses. Overall, Buttermilk's Kitchen was a respectable breakfast (and probably brunch) spot. It's got a hospitable staff and a nice menu of sweet and savory options, which, could even make a person who doesn't usually slip down the sweet slide to take a trip in that direction. read more

I know the waitress didn't mean to but she spilled a jar of heavy cream all over my fiancé and myself after we had come to celebrate a special occasion with my sister and her husband from Yonkers. She apologized but otherwise didn't do much to rectify the situation. Even we had to take it upon ourselves to move to a different booth since ours was just sticky and there was milk left on the floor. We didn't want to be rude and leave so we went through with brunch drenched in milk. We didn't expect a free meal but at least a complimentary beverage or some acknowledgment of our harrowing experience. Nope. Nothing at all. Waitress billed fully as if our clothes and shoes had not been entirely ruined. I will say there was a Hispanic lady who helped and was kind enough to let the manager know of the situation as we were leaving. The manager offered to pay for our dry cleaning. Of course, we weren't going to drive back home 3 hours away and back to Patchogue to drop off the bill. My fiance's hat was a vintage fitted that I had gotten for Christmas and was completely ruined and can't be dry cleaned. I'm sure the food was much better than we perceived it was but we were far too uncomfortable to truly enjoy it. And the waitress' indifference to our discomfort made it that much worse. We started with one of their large selection of coffee drinks-she got the Samoa Cappuccino (which looked so good) and I got an Iced White Chocolate Raspberry latte. My latte was good (garnished with whipped cream and a raspberry) but needed a touch more syrup, but definitely would try one of the other flavors next time. My friend got a Caprese sandwich and chose Bacon as her side and I got the Fried Chicken wrap with a side of the Onion Strings. I also got a side of horseradish pickles (my favorite). Both of our sandwiches were huge, I mean definitely shareable if you wanted to try two different things. The onion strings were delicious, not too salty like some ive had before. The wrap was loaded with chicken, melted cheddar, lettuce and tomato. My friend's sandwich looked delicious too, and the peppers looked freshly roasted and not from a jar. We were looking at food at other tables and everything really looked delicious. The restaurant was cute inside, they had counter seating and a mix of booths and tables. It was a beautiful late morning, so we headed out to Patchogue for brunch. We found Buttermilk Kitchen. It was busy and had to wait outside in the cold. NOPE, they would text us while we wait in the car. That was truly considerate. Staff was happy and helpful, this is a good sign to things to come.
