My first meeting with Angela I knew immediately I'd finally found "the one"! She was so sweet to my daughter and I the minute we walked in! She definitely loves her job anybody will quickly experience her warmth and passion for kids! I enjoyed her in depth questions and discussion we had about what my goals were for my daughter while she was there. Environment: safe, organized, very well set up kiddy place! So many activities & best of all she has a great schedule and routine she sticks to! I love that she worked on potty training too since we're in the midst! She feeds the kids great healthy home-made & organic foods! Best part on our first day was her midday update to me on how my little princess was doing! She had an amazing day I could tell by her not asking for Mama once on her first day at school. I could go in but I would highly recommend Ms. Angela to anybody! Whether it's full-time or drop in care, I can say you won't regret leaving your precious kiddos in wonderful warm hands!

All holidays and events they make extra special for the kiddos from their Halloween carnival, week long Christmas activities, Easter and Graduation party.

There is constant moving kids from class to class to adhere to state ratio requirements. Naps in the gym implemented occasionally because of lack of staff (again inconsistent y). 5 teachers quit in June and 2 in July that we heard of , resulted in 3 classrooms shut down at one point. It's really sad that this school spiraled downward so fast. We stayed longer than we should have hoping it would turn around. The facility itself is old and needs a major upgrade, the A/C wasn't working properly in June and July, just miserable in there for the kiddos and teachers. After moving to a new daycare, I realize how complacent I was for putting up with mediocrity and sometimes insufficient care. I do hope they can turn it around with the new director.

My bi-racial daughter has had NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS from these people since she enrolled my 1-year-old grandson there. One of the owners told her to change her drop off/pick up times because the "State only allows children to be in attendance at daycares for so many hours/day" - LIE! She has never been late on her payments! On August 27, 2018, while making her weekly payment, she was told by the male owner (presumably "Mr. Ed") that beginning in September, her childcare payments would be $20 less because my grandson would be 18 months old. When she went to pay on September 4, 2018, she was told by the female owner that he was incorrect since Chris wouldn't be 18 months old until the 12th. My response? OH WELL! This morning, my daughter dropped my grandson off on her way to work. The lady asked if she was paying today, she responded that she'd have to pay Thursday w/a late fee when she got paid. She then left, got in her car--AND THIS MAN ACTUALLY RAN AFTER HER BEHIND HER CAR! Garland Police were then called--they were just as disgusted & shocked as we were. I met my daughter up there (in case of any "smoke") & we took Chris home. I WILL BE FILING A COMPLAINT AGAINST THESE RACIST-A** PEOPLE & THEIR OWNERS. The teachers RAVE about Chris, how well behaved he is. He's ALWAYS clean when we drop him off, but dirty, thirsty & STARVING when we pick him up. His face was COVERED in bug bites the first 2 weeks he was there & they had no explaination. I saw in another review that they reportedly had BED BUGS. I will be posting this NEGATIVE REVIEW on every forum I can find on this place & I hope you're SHUT DOWN FOR GOOD. Ya'll picked THE RIGHT ONE this time! read more

We LOVE the Barn. We have two children there currently - our youngest started in the infant room and our older started in toddlers. We left a local Montessori program to enroll at the Barn and could not be happier. As a parent who has been disappointed by a program in the past, here are a few things that set the Barn apart: - From infants and all the way up, the Barn is filled with caregivers and teachers who truly care. My children go to school and feel loved - that is so apparent from their smiling faces at pick up. - In addition, the teachers and caregivers are all incredibly competent and seem to really love what they do. The teacher turn over has been minimal (which is a testament to the great environment at the Barn). - The facility itself is decorated super fun, which continues to excite my kids. The environment lends itself to fun learning. - The curriculum is wonderful - my two year old can count to 20+, knows his ABCs, can mostly spell his name, and has prayers memorized, among other things. - The director is a gem - you really can't find a more knowledgeable and caring person. - There are SO many activities. My kids have participated in puppet shows, parades, plays, petting zoos...the list goes on and on and on. - The communication is really wonderful. From text messages, to pictures, to phone calls, I always feel informed about how the kids are doing. Finding a good and caring program is hard, especially when you have multiple children with different personalities and needs, but we feel so lucky to have a place at the Barn! read more

We've been with the school for over 2 years now , and we have older kids and have experience with other daycare centers in our parenting life . I enjoy by the Barnyard gate not only for their Christian Focus , but also their staff and teachers are always very kind and you can tell that they have a genuine love for the children . I wouldn't be surprised if every teacher in the school knew my kids' names , even though they're definitely not the primary caretakers of my children. I have a two-year-old and I'm very impressed with what he's been able to learn at the Barnyard . He is able to keep up in some aspects like counting with my five year old, he's learned to be polite and say thank you and he enjoys going every morning . We've not yet experienced the older child care , but my 5-year-old is going to attend for the summer and I'm sure that it's just as good for the for the older kids as it is for the little ones . We had an option of two schools that we had kids in when we had my 1-year-old , and we chose barnyard because we enjoyed the environment and we were impressed with how they were doing with my one year old . read more

By the Barnyard Gate is the place for us! From the moment we walked in, it was clear that this is a special place. The staff is not only professional but also genuinely caring and attentive. They create a nurturing environment that my kiddos love. The facility itself is bright, clean, and thoughtfully designed with engaging activities that stimulate learning and creativity. Our daughter is 4 years old and has been going here since she was 2. We were in a crunch for finding childcare when we moved here and went with the first place we could find that had availability. By THE BARYARD GATE is the best choice ever! As a parent, it can be hard to trust just anyone with your child and we couldn't ask for better caretakers for our child. They love her and treat her as their own and every night she never stops talking about them and every morning she wakes up super excited to go to "school" because she wants to see her teachers(Mr. E, Ms. Janice Ms. Amanda...) and friends. Barnyard has been a great place for both of my kids! My daughter started recently & my son has been enrolled for about 3 years. The front office staff is great about communicating updates & always has time to answer questions. The teachers are friendly and seem to really care about the kids. There are several teachers that my son had in his early years that are now teaching my daughter! We appreciate the Christian curriculum & with reinforcement at home, my son has learned quite a few Bible verses! Weekly tuition is fairly priced for the area, & even if it had been the most expensive option (spoiler: it wasn't), we still would have chosen the Barn! Both of my children are enrolled here and have really excelled in every way over the past 2 years. My eldest is a Covid baby & I was afraid he wouldn't know how to interact with other children and to my relief and delight, he has made friends. My youngest started here at 8 months and has moved on up through the age groups. The teachers are transparent and keep us parents informed. They have done so much in regards to potty training, vocabulary, prayers and overall well being. The teachers and staff know my children so well and treat them so lovingly. We have had the BEST experience with By the Barnyard Gate (Sachse location). My 2 year old twins stayed home for 2 years and so I was very nervous to put them in a preschool. I went and toured just about every preschool in a 15 mile radius. As soon as we stepped foot in this center, I fell in love!! It was so homey and everyone was smiling. My girls now wake up every single morning ready to go to "school" and they light up when they see their teachers. They have already learned SO SO SO much while also getting to play and be a toddler. This is a great school if you like the idea of your child developing the necessary skills to carry them through life. They also excel at teaching your child survival skills in their patented "Lord of the Flies" style classrooms of 30+. I especially loved the way my son learned to increase his MMA and UFC fighting skills while thrust into a world of open ended scenarios of bites, cuts, and bruises on an almost daily basis. In closing, survival instincts and self defense is an over looked but necessary skill to teach young developing minds. I applaud this place at their dedication. read more

We have been coming here since my 3 year old was 5 months old. We now have our daughter who is 8 months there too! We absolutely love it!! The front office is amazing! Brandy, Lori, and Katie are always looking after my kids and truly feel like family. We are so lucky to be a part of the Barnyard family. My kids love it there! Wonderful daycare and *affordable* on a teacher's salary. More importantly my children love it and look forward to their after school care. Whenever I pick them up, they are engaed in a variety of activities and not just plopped in front of a TV (in fact the only TV time I see is dance time). My 2 year old daughter has been at Barnyard since she was 9 mos old. We switched over from a neighboring daycare bc I wasnt happy with the quality of care and the constant teacher turnover. I have been so happy with her teachers and she is thriving here! I love that there isnt a high turnover with the teachers & the quality of care and learning activities in unmatched. read more

This school is amazing! All of the teachers do a great job! Our children have been going there since they were babies and I have never looked back. Walking in the door EVERYONE is always in an upbeat mode and happy to see your children. They are willing to help out when the community needs it the most. This school is simply amazing. We've been taking our daughter since she was 6 months old. It's not simply a day care, they really learn things. The school is always clean and the class rooms are very large and spacious. The staff is amazing and they love the kids as their own. We have to give a shout out to Ms. Caroline in the infant class. By the Barnyard Gate is the most exceptional childcare facility in Sachse. The children's safety is the highest priority, learning, and exceptional care for each child make them priceless. We moved to Forney, and switched my daughter to By the Barnyard Gate in Forney (owned by the same family). I wish I could say that I love Barnyard as much as I did Whistlestop! So many of the staff and teachers at Barnyard just don't seem to care or want to be there. I NEVER get updates about my child's day at Barnyard, but I got them daily at Whistlestop! Everyone took the time at Whistlestop to get to know me, my family, and my daughter at Whistlestop. Now, at Barnyard...I'm fairly certain no one except my daughter's actual teachers know either of us. In fact, every time someone different has been to pick her up (i.e, my Mom, Dad, mother in law, etc...) no one has bothered to ask them for any information. Thankfully, they are people that were on the list...but what if they weren't?! Needless to say, I wish we could go back to Whistlestop in Rowlett. (We'll be taking my daughter out of Barnyard very soon!) Whistlestop Station in Rowlett is a Phenomenal School!

Her 2nd day there which was Tuesday June…read more2nd, I sent my father up there to check on her around lunch time because she had listed off a few reasons for why she didn't have a good first day there. After my father got there and spoke to my daughter, he called me and told me that a little boy had punched my daughter before they went outside to play, and then while they were outside playing the same little boy kept teasing her and chasing her and also kicked her water bottle across the playground. I was surprised to hear this because I hadn't recieved a single call from anyone at Pillars about any of this happening. So I called up there and asked to speak to someone that was aware of what had happened, and after being on hold for 5 mins a lady got on the phone and told me she qould have to call me back and before I could say anything she hung up. About 5 mins later they called back, so again I asked to soeak to someone that was dealing with my daughter being punched, teased, and her water bottle being kicked around the playground and the lady said that she had talked to my daughter's teacher and they all were aware of what took place. So I asked her why I wasn't notified about any of this happening, and her response was " we normally only notify parents of a situation if the child gets hurt"... So I asked her how would she know how bad it hurt my daughter when the little boy punched her. After she realized how stupid she sounded, she then said "oh I misspoke, I meant to say that we normally only notify parents about a situation if the child is bleeding or gets bruised"... I dont know which statement was worse, but they are both bad, and most importantly wrong. I told her that just because my daughter was not bleeding, or whether she had a bruise or not, that none of that matters and they should have called me to inform me in at least a reasonable amount of time. But according to both of her answers, I highly doubt I would've ever gotten a call from them to notify me that a boy had punched my daughter, teased her, chased her, and kicked her water bottle across the playground. At this point I was frustrated, and honestly wasn't going to keep my daughter around "adults" that were this out of touch with reality, and around people that clearly didn't really seem to care. So I told her that my daughter would not be returning ever, and then she started to get an attitude with me and then she hung up on me. So to all of the parents out there considering leaving their child under the care and supervision of The Pillars Christian Learning Center, I would advise you to seek care elsewhere if your child's safety is important to you. This all happened within 2 days of being enrolled there, I can only imagine all of the negative things that would've continued to happen if I left my daughter at that poor excuse of a Christian daycare. I would trust my dog to look after my child before I would ever trust anyone at The Pillars Christian Learning Center.

The staff are helpful, attentive, and they have so much love to give to our little ones. My two littles started at 9 mos / 1 year and they're now 5 and 3 y/o. My 5 year old graduated the Pre K program but uses the after school bus rider program and gets picked up at WSS with his sister - another AWESOME perk that WSS offers! We love our family at WSS Hickox!

We had arrived for our sons first day, they did not know who we were or where he was supposed to be. We were walked around for 10 minutes from room to room until she figured it out. The lady continued to say "we have just signed up so many children lately, hard to keep track of everyone" When we did finally meet his "teacher" for the day it was a very cold experience. No comfort for the child and not welcoming what so ever. We had hoped this was an off day and spoke with their director Rebecca the following day. We were told this is not the normal and apologized and informed us it will get better, they continue to praise and announce that they continue adding more children yet the current children are still not properly cared for. Not enough staff in the rooms, when we show up for drop off there are typically kids wrestling, kids in corners crying and all around it looks like one big mess. The teacher is usually with 20+ kids and it is not enough. Immediately after discussing our issues, it seemed to be a touch better for a couple days as there was a new teacher and she was a lot better. But that did not last long and she was transferred and he got another even colder teacher. Everyday we arrive it's a new teacher, chaos, no consistency, no compassion or caring. When you enter the classroom, the teachers barely even look at you. They really do need to dive deep into their hiring practice. Upon visiting before signup, they spoke a big game and the facilities were all clean, we were excited to the fact our child would be learning while there - this was not the case. He was just recently at Bright Horizons in Plano but we wanted to get him closer. We have never had an experience quite like this and honestly hope no other families have to go through the same experience. We have removed him from Children's Lighthouse and got him immediately into a much better facility.

ZERO communication between staff & employees, questions/concerns/suggestions just float in the air. Don't offer REAL in person training, leave you to figure it out & fend for yourself. My son is still in the process of potty training- he has accidents from time to time which is normal for his age. I was assured that it wouldn't be an issue with the class he was entering, and that the teachers would help remind him to go. Instead of giving him a new pullup before or after nap, or even at any point in the day, my son sat in the same one I dropped him off in. I brought it to the attention of the director, who assured me it would be rectified in short order. Instead, on Friday my son came home with a rash all over his private parts and booty because they'd left him in a swim diaper FOR 8 HOURS. I contacted the director who told me we could move him to a lower class, and no real explanation as to why this issue was continuing. If it continues, I will be removing my child from the school. Edited to add update: Bailey actually responded really well with the situation. Most of my issues were resolved because of her swift action at fixing the problem.
