After contacting them about the roof, first they said they did not do the work. I sent them a receipt of payment with the company name on it. Every time I had to initiate the telephone call. They never returned a phone call. They would later tell me the roof was no longer under warranty. I was not provided any warranty information. I asked how can this be resolved and have heard nothing further from them. If you want a reliable and trustworthy company, I advise you to go elsewhere. This company only concern is to take your money and more on to the project.

What I did not realize until after they left is that some of our plants were damaged significantly. I think the shrubs will survive, but I had two large flower pots with herbs and annuals that were damaged. Because herbs have edible leaves, I think those are a complete loss. The pots were at least 10 feet from the edge of the overhang, so I'm not sure how they were so significantly damaged when other things were not. It almost looks like they covered some plants but not others. They could have easily moved the potted plants out of the way, so I wonder why they didn't do that. In addition, the smell of the wash is very strong inside my house. I'm not sure if that's because the solution got into the windows or because it somehow got into the AC system. Whatever happened, it's very strong to the point of making my eyes burn when I'm upstairs. Again, I don't know if that's just a product of the process or a function of how well sealed my home is. I might have planned to be away from my house for a while had I expected that. I have a chronic lung issue, so maybe I'm just overly sensitive. I have hired many, many contractors in my life. I have never experienced working with a company as…read moreunprofessional or incompetent as Superior Softwash. The estimator, Chris, came out to our home to give us a quote for: remove previous deck stain, sand the deck and prepare for new stain, stain the deck, and softwash the vinyl siding of our townhome. At no point was pressure washing discussed. I specifically sought out a softwashing company as it seemed like they understood chemical and gentler methods to treat our wood deck. Chris was extremely professional, seemed knowledgeable, and walked me through the process of the deck preparation and softwashing of our house. This deck was built 5 years ago so still relatively new, and in great condition except for some mild algal growth on the boards. Because of the great estimate process, we went with Superior Softwash's quote. It was on the higher end but I felt confident it was a great choice. It was not. The two guys that came out to work on our deck were unprofessional, not informed about the job they were actually doing, and didn't have the supplies needed. I unfortunately had to go to work and left them alone on our property. That turned out to be a huge mistake. They stripped the previous deck stain using a powerwasher on high pressure-- exclusively. There was no other method used. As a result, the wood was basically destroyed. We were left with fuzzing everywhere, deep gouges, and trenched wood. This is not damage that is easy or cheap to repair. On top of that, they made an enormous mess of our property. There is deck stain flung everywhere, including on our neighbors' homes and yards. The workers even stood on our neighbor's plastic shed and damaged their property as well. My garden was destroyed. These were not professionals trained to do this job. They didn't even really know what job they were doing. Communicating with this company was a nightmare from start to finish. The left hand never seemed to know what the right hand was doing. I have never in my life been given the runaround like I received from this company. I was blown off, ignored, and gaslit. They scheduled an appointment to "assess" the damage to my deck and they literally no-call no-showed that appointment and it still took me nearly a full day to reach someone AFTER that. After the significant damage to our valuable deck, I stopped all work on the project. For full disclosure, I ended up receiving a full refund of the deposit paid on this job. That refund was not easy to get and I fear that anyone less persistent than I was would be left completely in the cold by this company. They did not want to issue a refund and tried to ghost me repeatedly until I used the words "filing a complaint with the Maryland Home Improvement Commission". It is not nearly enough to compensate for the extensive damage done. We are now in process with a deck remediation company to try to salvage our deck but it will never be the same. At the end of this, we will be out significantly more out of pocket than if this had been done correctly in the first place. This entire experience was miserable, stressful, and ridiculous. Do yourself a favor and never, ever do business with these people. Luckily, they put up a sign in our yard that said SUPERIOR SOFTWASH in big letters so now all of our neighbors know who not to hire because anyone with eyes can see that they absolutely trashed our deck.

UPDATE: 5/25/2023: Ken Waldman, owner of FloorGem, continues to ignore my homeowner's insurance…read morecompany's subrogation department, and he ignored my Better Business Bureau complaint. This is after he repeatedly told me via text that he would pay me for my financial losses. See attached screenshots. Ken promised via text IN FEBRUARY 2023 to repay me for my damages. That did not happen, and it is now May 2023, so I've now filed a complaint with the state licensing commission and will take him to small claims court, if necessary. The state licensing committee told me he has prior complaints. This past October we contracted with FloorGem to remove carpet and refinish the wooden floors…read moreunderneath as well as refinish existing floors in upstairs bedrooms. Bottom line up front - the floors look pretty good given their age but there were big misses in terms of communication and quality of work. If you are recovering floors under carpet as we did, I'd strongly recommend pulling it all up first and then get an estimate so you know what you are dealing with. The work was set to start on a Monday, moving the furniture out to a Pod for storage and then refinishing to be done by Saturday. The movers (recommended by FloorGem) contacted us and we set up their coming by at about 11am since I had a doctor's appointment at 9am. While I am being examined by the doctor I get a call from Ken (FloorGem) that his carpet removal people cannot get in as no one is home. There had been absolutely no indication that anyone from his team was showing up Monday morning, and how could they do their work anyway given the furniture was still in place? They ended up going to another job that day. Movers showed up on time and did an excellent job. Tuesday we get a text that part of the floor is in poor shape and boards really have to be replaced. That was always a potential so we simply had to accept that and move forward. However, when I dropped by later that evening to see for myself I was quite surprised to see that the work crew had "hot wired" their sander into our electric junction box in the basement, running a thick extension cord up to second floor where they had started sanding the floors that day. No one had mentioned that this would be necessary, and I have no idea whether the person doing this was a licensed electrician (highly doubt it). Thursday morning I get a call from Ken that sections of the floor in LR and DR have darker stain on them. I dropped everything to go home, thinking Ken would be there to discuss options but instead it was the work crew. The lead was very helpful, pointing out the stain and showing me how it would look with a couple of different stains. I picked the one that seemed best, as replacing these boards on top of those already replaced was not in budget. As noted above, if you are in a similar position wanting to recover those original wooden floors under carpet or vinyl, get that stuff up first so that you can better assess what is involved and what compromises you may need to make. The job was completed on time and we were able to move back in the following Monday morning. Given what FloorGem had to work with, the floors look pretty good. However, the quality of the work was a bit sloppy in parts. Stain was splashed onto baseboard and on the railing, even some stain on LR wall which thankfully Mr. Clean Magic Eraser handled ok. The wooden lip that transitions from the LR to kitchen is too high so that we can no longer close that door. I checked the junction box and, so far as I could see, appears reassembled properly (but still not thrilled it was done). Also found a cell phone (not ours) in basement, texted FloorGem to ask if it belonged to their crew but no response. So in brief, the floors look fine but we now have other issues to address to get everything in an acceptable state.

I found this company to be reputable, and they were also willing to work on the weekend to get things finished before the weather turned rainy again. I was happy with the quality of the work, the timeframe for completion, and the price. After they completed this work, I hired them to do some other repairs, including work on the chimney (which I already knew I was going to have to do eventually) and repairs to gutters with installation of gutter covers (another project I had been considering). Edit for follow-up: This company also spoke to my insurance adjuster and helped me get approval to proceed with repair without waiting. The insurance adjuster visited this morning, inspected the roof, and approved the claim in full (no adjustment except for the deductible).

Well I had it when Tom came to give me the estimate, I could tell that he was being genuine, and wasn't trying to feed me a bunch of crap. You see, I had been through this estimate process before, and I definitely got the crap served to me, something about being a woman doing this is definitely something else... Anywho, he was straight up with his estimate and it was fair. I love the fact that they are a family owned business, you can tell with the way they interact with you and the level of respect that is given to their clients. My install was quick and painless! Two gents came over and were done in about four and half hours! I got my entire top floor re carpeted, my steps and closets. I was only responsible for moving the small things, they handled everything else. They were quick, courteous and professional! I am thoroughly pleased with everything from start to finish. If I ever need flooring done again, (they do hard wood too score!) I will be giving them a call.
