This is close to me, I've wanted to try this spot for a while. So glad we finally did! It's a small place but they organized it well -- tables to the left on a raised level and bar/smaller tables to the right on a sunken level. Give a cool feeling to the restaurant. I wanted to love this place, especially because it is in our neighborhood. The food was great but the service definitely overshadows it. Tara was great at keeping our drinks filled and getting our orders in & out quickly. Only one item came out late - made me wonder if she forgot to enter it; but it was cooked quickly and brought out nonetheless. It was hotter than the rest of the meal (thought back to forgot to order with rest of meal). The majority of the table ordered the lasagna and it was awesome!! Hubby ordered the Chicken dish, (without the colorful carrots) and he enjoyed the flavor and the potatoes weren't crisp, but tender. We were all too stuffed to order dessert. I'd return again and try something like the calamari next time! ( Love my crispy calamari!!) That way I'd have room to try the Torte de Mele or Tiramisu. read more

Had an amazing brunch here on a Sunday! It is a lovely place with really nice holiday decorations. There is also outdoor seating. Live music until 3 PM during brunch. Karen Bella is very talented with a lovely, soothing voice. She chose great cover songs to sing during brunch and threw in some holiday songs. I was excited to see a hot cocktail on the menu - the Hot Nora. Would have preferred more cocktail and less whipped cream - it was a smaller portion than a hot toddy would be - but it was still delicious. Two of us shared the fried artichoke appetizer and it was even better than expected. My friend had the crespelle without meat (she is vegetarian) and I had the croque madame. Both were good portions and came with arugula salad and fried potatoes. We both ended up with leftovers. The late night menu looked really good too but only the brunch menu was available. I found myself at C Restaurant and Lounge for a celebratory event with some colleagues. I'm not too familiar with the restaurant scene in Queens (especially in this area), but I'm always up for trying somewhere new. Judging from the pictures, C seemed like a cool spot, so I was excited to check it out. C is located in what seems like the main commercial hub of Kew Gardens - the train is close by as well as a number of other businesses. The space isn't too large, but they have a decently sized interior with a large bar area as well as a few tables outside. The decor was very eclectic, almost gaudy - black and white checkerboard floors, red chairs, chandeliers, and palm leaf wallpaper. It was a bit much for me, but the walls were giving me Blanche Devereaux vibes and the bathroom walls were filled with flamingoes which totally spoke to me. We didn't have dinner per se, instead we ordered a few apps and pasta dishes to share amongst us. We started with meat and cheese boards - they were presented nicely and had a variety of selections. They weren't too extravagant, but as a fan of charcuterie components I wasn't complaining. For pastas, we got fusilli in marinara, spaghetti carbonara, and gnocchi in pesto. These were really good - the gnocchi was pillow soft, and I'm a big fan of pesto so I really enjoyed this. The carbonara was also a standout - it was lighter than other carbonara dishes I've had, but it was a welcome reprieve from all the meats and cheeses. The drinks were also good - I had their Mai Una Gioia and espresso martini which were both smooth with great flavor. Service as great - we were a large, loud group but the staff did an excellent job keeping up with everything and made sure that we were taken care of throughout the night. Overall, I had a great experience at C - this place isn't in my backyard, but I would definitely return if given the opportunity. read more

The only reason I'm not giving a 5 was because we only got drinks and some fries. What we did get thiugh was great. Let's get into it. The fries were thick and crispy. Not quite steak fries but some warm and peppery and they give you the ketchup on a baby dish with a spoon which made the simple French fry feel fancy. For drinks we got the Mona Lisa and I can't recall the other one but it was fun basil and raspberries. These berry drinks were very delightful. The ambiance is to die for. Feels like a you're ready for a tea party and it's decorated for Halloween so cutely. They also have outdoor seating. The bartender who took care of us as well as the other waitstaff were so kind. Hidden gem in Kew Gardens, I go to Dani's pizza all the time and did not realize this spot existed right across the street. The restaurant is beautiful, very chic, feels like I'm in the city. We dined on a Friday night, made reservations on open table, it wasn't that busy. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Appetizers- burrata & octopus salad, both very good and fresh. Entree- I had the lasagna which was very cheesy and came with chunks of beef (not small pieces of ground beef) it was delicious. My friend had the pappardelle which she enjoyed (also had chunks of meat). For dessert we shared the tiramisu, which was very good, more of a mousse like consistency. My boyfriend and I had been wanting to treat his parents to dinner and this is the perfect little gem to share a great meal in a very cute atmosphere. The decor is super cute with kind of an eclectic art nouveau meets mid century look. We were there during 20 degree weather that soon turned into a snow storm, but it was warm and cozy inside. We shared the Calamari Fritti, Burrata, and Caprese Salad. All were very good. The Calamari includes zucchini that has been finely sliced and battered in the same way, which was a nice addition. Burrata comes with both red and golden beets. I'm normally not a fan of beets, but the goldens were delicious and the addition of shredded mint really brightened the flavor. Veal is my boyfriend's favorite, but they had to inform us that they had sold out of it. He ordered the Rosticciana instead and wasn't disappointed. It included a literal pound of polenta, which seamed like a little much, but the pork ribs themselves were perfect and came easily off the bone without seeming overcooked. My Salmone Arlecchino had this tasty, blackened crust on the skin that was nicely paired with a sweet bell pepper sauce. My boyfriend's parents had the Papardelle Al Ragu di Filetto and Branzino Cileno. They both loved them and his dad was able to substitute sautéed spinach for the otherwise included sides of white beans and spinach casserole, which was very nice. Very nice date restaurant in a quiet part of suburbia Queens. Plenty of nearby street parking and nice little spot that is walkable from LIRR. Subway is a little longer walk but doable. The romantic setting, with the nice comfy couch seating and wide tables that doesn't feel so cramped. Ambiance is very nice, dimly lit and very quiet place to have a date night. Food is solid for queens, I find the plating very clean and nice. The food overall is very solid, nothing wrong and for the value it is good for NYC. No dish really wows and not much finess just very well cooked overall. The drinks are where I think it is lacking, the cocktail drinks are not very balanced nor well executed. I hate to interrupt a date to constantly have the server take a drink back but some of the cocktails are just too imbalanced and not tasty. read more

I had such a lovely brunch this past Sunday with my friend here. The restaurant is soo pretty, you just want to take pictures at every corner. We arrived when they opened at noon and it was empty, but started to fill around 1. We had a reservation but I don't think it's necessary. For food we split the caprese salad, calamari, and pancakes. Everything was fresh and delicious. These were probably the best pancakes I've had in a really long time! We were there for about 3 hours just chatting and never felt rushed. Closer to a 4.5 A lovely spot unlike anything the neighborhood has seen before. The vibe is modern, maybe a bit eclectic with some awesome 80s alternative music filling the air. They also did a great job with their outdoor dining setup; covered tables with heaters. While they are covered and closed on 1 side, the space is open so definitely qualifies for outdoor dining. We were even offered blankets if our legs were cold. We arrived a bit before 5pm on a Sunday. The menu was presented via a QR code to scan with your phone. Once we were about to order we were informed that it was brunch until 6pm. We didn't know and were so a bit disappointed since we had already decided on what to order. Brunch until 6pm seems a bit extreme, since I would have much preferred to have dinner. So back to look at the brunch menu which is a bit limited vs. the regular menu. We started off the the Uova del Diavolo which is basically a deviled egg, the menu noted poached lobster, but I couldn't taste any. The eggs were tasty, but pretty salty. We also ordered the Crostini which is a trio of quite large crostini topped with a brie like cheese and artichokes, ricotta and squash, and pepper caponata and mascarpone. All of them were very good. On the the entrees. The Spaghetti Carbonara, the pasta was fresh and it was such a lovely comforting dish, it was fabulous. It looked a little small when the plate was set down, but looks are deceiving it was quite satisfying. The Flat Iron Steak was cooked to perfection and served with lovely potatoes and soft boiled eggs. We were enjoying the meal, so moved on to dessert. The cappuccino, IMO could have been served at a hotter temperature, but it was a well made cappuccino nonetheless. The Torta di Stagione is a poached apple with delightful whipped cream and an amazing salty/sweet crumble. It was an excellent way to end the meal. I should also note, their wines by the glass are quite good; both the Barbera and the Montepulciano were good choices. I look forward to the day when I'll be OK with enjoying their dining room and I hope everyone checks them out so that they can ride out this Covid storm. read more

I saw a commercial for C restaurant and the food looked really good so my friend and I went to check it out. It is super cute inside - great atmosphere and details. The focaccia bread they bring is so soft and the olive oil is extra tasty. We had the frito appetizer, pappardelle, gnocchi special, and chocolate mousse cake. Everything was delicious! C Kew Gardens opened a couple of years ago and since then we have visited this gem on numerous occasions. We've had brunch, dinner and happy hour and each time we have enjoyed it more than the last! The staff is friendly, the service is on point and the culinary is above standard. It's so refreshing to have a place in the neighborhood that takes pride not only in the food but also the atmosphere and customer service. Always hate to give away places we love, but for you, Yelp, anything! We went an hour before closing on Tuesday night in January. It was wet and cold outside and we had both worked a long day. Immediately love the decor, and the music. My wife and I sat down and the waiter was immediately friendly. We said we wanted to get our dinner order in and so we ordered first, for apps, we had 1) fried artichokes, 2) Caesar salad, and 3) an eggplant mozzarella dish.... Will post picture later from my other phone. These were all on the better side of very good.... Still the artichoke came with cold tomato sauce which kind of threw that dish off, The eggplant rollatini type dish is done well, but also its done well at many other places, still good, and the Caesar salad was not a great presentation, though it tasted fine and fresh...we are picky because we often make it from scratch at home. For the main we had a lasagna, which was delicious. And we ordered a bottle of Amarone, which was dry and balanced, as is our preference... I think there is better food than the appetizers we had, but the atmosphere more than made up for it. This was a romantic jazz bar, and with it's two levels and good looking bar it was a very romantic spot. Props to the owners for making it nice. We would definitely go back here and try lots of drinks and food items to see if the food could be a bit better, but as I said very good is more than passable. read more
