We got seated a very quiet round table just behind the hostess desk. A perfect secluded little spot for good conversation. Always wonderful service. I starved myself knowing I was coming here for dinner. The portions are very generous. We started with a trio of Venetian Arancini (fried risotto balls). Light crispy and great for sharing. They are huge and very tasty. The other appetizer we tried was the fried crispy Brussels sprouts with a most delicious dipping sauce. We also shared their apple prosciutto salad with candied pecans, and bits of Gorgonzola cheese. The matchstick slices of apple ensured you had a bit of sweet crunch with each bite. Very yummy. I would have this as an entree salad next time. I ordered the daily special. A fire roasted salmon belly curled in a circle and a 2 big stalks of asparagus sticking straight up. The salmon was on a bed of mashed potato surrounded on a simple butter sauce. Again a very big entree. The local petrale sole was huge and served with wilted spinach, olive oil mashed potato and with a brown butter sauce. We were so full but made room for a serving of Dutch apple crisp with a dollop of ice cream. They have a full bar so we had a lemon drop and Hendricks and tonic. read more

We had a great dinner at Paradisio, an intimate restaurant in downtown Redding. We started with the baked Brie, which was delicious with house made crackers, honey, bacon jam, roasted garlic and an olive tapenade. For entrees we chose the Peppered Ribeye and the Gnocchi. The ribeye was well-prepared with a peppercorn cream sauce, carrots with a hint of cinnamon, and mashed potatoes. The Gnocchi was the best I've ever had, with incredible flavor depth. We paired these with Grand Ardeche from Louis Latour, a really nice buttery Chardonnay. Our desert was blueberry cobbler and a raspberry gelato. All in all it was an excellent meal with prompt service. The gnocchi is the stuff of dreams, so we look forward to returning. $$-$$$. Plenty of street parking. Reservations recommended. read more

This was the second time that my wife and I have visited this establishment. My wife ordered the penne pesto pasta and I ordered the ribeye. The penne pesto pasta is some of the best we've ever had. The ribeye was delicious and the mashed potatoes and carrots that came with it were amazing as well. Server was very kind and the atmosphere was very enjoyable for our day night. Paradisio is a limited seating restaurant with a menu that cannot be imagined in a small rural community. I made reservations for our anniversary and pre ordered a Beef Wellington for two. I appreciate an establishment that lets you order off menu. The Chef Michael was accommodating and asked what time we wanted the meal on the table. My reservation was 6:30 and after wine and appetizers I told him 7:00. When we arrived we were greeted immediately and the Hostess/Server took us to our table and took our drink and appetizer order. Our drinks hand appetizer came out quickly considering the restaurant was busy and she was the only person on the floor. Our table was cleared and our Wellingtons were on the table within minutes after 7. What a perfect example of a Wellington! The filet was roasted perfectly and the pastry was crusty and flavorful with the mushrooms and bacon roasted inside. The Jus' reduction was just tasty! In my opinion this was the best meal I've eaten in our town. This is a Beer and Wine establishment with a significant wine list. Thank you for a great Anniversary dinner. read more

Worst service I ever had!!! I was really looking forward to trying this place, but the service was absolutely disappointing! Despite having a reservation, we were completely ignored. When we arrived, the waitress greeted us but didn't seat us -- instead, she started pouring wine and serving other tables right in front of us. She didn't even acknowledge that our table wasn't ready, nor did she say something like, "We just need a moment to clean your table, please wait." Instead, she began cleaning and setting up the table after we arrived -- something that should've been ready with our reservation. But it gets worse. Just when I thought she was bringing plates to prepare our table, she walked into the kitchen and started serving desserts to other customers. Meanwhile, we were still awkwardly standing by the cashier area. After that, she began preparing checks -- and at this point, our table still wasn't ready. Frustrated and completely ignored, we finally just walked out. I've never experienced such poor service. read more

I think I found my new favorite restaurant! Cafe Paradisio is located in a quiet area of downtown within walking distance to the Market Street Promenade. There is plenty of parking right out front. We managed to get same day reservations on a Saturday and thank goodness we called ahead. As we sat and dined, walk-ins were being turned away because the restaurant was booked up for the night. The restaurant is small with maybe 10 small tables total and just 2 seats at the bar so reservations any day of the week would be a good idea. It was extremely hot outside but nice and cool inside. The wait staff is very efficient and friendly. We started with the ahi poke and baked brie platter appetizers. The ahi was delicious, smothered in soy sauce and sesame oil, I highly recommend this dish! The brie came with housemade crackers, equally delicious but I felt the portion size was on the smaller side for the price. The housemade crackers came topped with a balsamic glaze which was quite messy to eat. For dinner I had the braised beef short rib which was cooked perfectly with the meat falling off the bone. The fusion style curried rice Complimented the flavor of the rib very well. We finished with a creme brulee which did not disappoint. The whole experience here was great from start to finish. One of my favorite restaurants, I always get the chicken marsala with mashed potatoes instead of penne pasta & my husband usually gets either a New York or ribeye depending on what they have that day. Last night we were seated near (in this pace it is hard not to be near) a table of 12!!! These were 12 very loud women. We could not even hold a conversation at our table. They would get very loud and if one of them had something to say to the group they literally rang a bell to get their group to quiet down and then one of them would loudly address the entire group. I am not kidding they literally had a bell at either end of the table that they would ring! While the food was great, I would sincerely hope that the management/owners would limit the size of a group that they would serve in this small space! Service and food were great! Grilled peach salad: Salads are hard to make good and this was a good salad. An appropriate portion for one person. It felt a little heavy on the dressing (like if your clothes are heavy after standing in the rain without an umbrella), but I still really enjoyed the thoughtful flavor combinations of nutty arugula, roasted and mildly candied walnuts, smoky charred fresh cubed peaches, and goat cheese. I paired this peachy dish with a peaches and cream Italian soda and it was not too much peach. It was EXCELLENT. Elk burger with garlic fries: My partner really enjoyed the burger. It wasn't my thing for whatever reason, usually I like gamey meats. HOWEVER, the stuff they put ON the burger was really tasty. I would have liked to see that on top of their very good and crispy thin cut fries. The fries themselves were excellent and very garlicky, served with an aoili. The only weird thing about them was that they were sprinkled with a flavorless cheese that didn't add anything for me. Definitely swap out the cheese for the elk burger juices, sauce, and bacon (not sure if goat cheese would be too much). It is very packed inside as far a seating goes, no one was wearing a mask, so would definitely only recommend if you are comfortable with that level of risk. read more

Husband and Father had the rib eye and it was cooked to perfection. One medium and the other medium rare. The twice baked potato was full of flavor.
