Around for ages, older than most patrons and even servers here, Caballo Blanco is a Sacramento Mexican dining staple. Upon walking in there's cobblestone and wood all over the place. The place feels old and historic but by design. It's well kept and clean. My grandparents met here on the second floor back when it was open at night for live music and dancing. Knowing that holds a special place in my heart. So I'm inclined to like the place. Last Friday was only second visit here. Why my mom never brought me here growing up knowing her parents met here, I will never know. But the food is damn good here! Its authentic classic Mexican dishes make me want to try everything on the menu. The complimentary chips and salsa are the perfect starters to a great meal. Then the soup that is included with every entree are like a small hug from an old family member. The broth is hearty, the noodles and perfect. I could eat a huge bowl of it. The guac appetizer is creamy and flavorful, would recommend. The carnitas here are juicy yet crispy, they also serve a lot of it . Tortillas served with every dish are handmade and taste spectacular. Their beans are really good but I'm not sold on the rice. Went with the steak on my last visit and that hit the spot! Servers here are attentive and friendly. The crew here is tight knit and get people in and out in a timely fashion without the hurry up feeling. Caballo Blanco's food impressed my fiancee and I within the first few minutes of our visit. Her and I will be back again and again as it is now one of our favorite Mexican restaurant options in the Sacramento area.

Upon entering we were able to seat ourselves no wait time. Our servers was Lupe & Pepe they were more than accommodating with personality plus. We ordered the Skirt Steak Enchilada with Rice & Beans and Filete De Pescado with rice & Beans. Our food was served piping heat hot and oh my goodness the food was AWSOME! Packed with lots of flavor. The food was definitely prepared with much love. You will be amazed. We definitely will be back.

Delicious food, both the chicana de res and chile colorado are flavorful and good quality beef. The service here is quick and friendly. I like the interior decorations it feels old school but kept up. There is a parking lot in the back as well which is nice.

Yes this restaurant is still fire. I haven't been here in over 30 years. However, after 30 years I finally returned and it was everything I remembered it to be. The restaurant is older but it's clean and the staff is amazing. It's not to noisy and very inviting. The food is fire, I had the 2 beef taco and cheese enchilada combo. Everything tasted really good and they give you plenty of food. I enjoyed everything and I definitely recommend sliding through here.

Caballo Blanco is past sixty years of having the best table chips in Sacramento, possibly the world. Don't forget your food is coming after though. Got the spicy chicken. Their spicy actually is spicy, not Burger King angry fries fake spicy. You won't not take stuff home. I am stuffed but somehow still hungry for more. This is not light Mexican food for those on diets such as myself, though the salad is good. They serve soup before dinner but not worth mentioning. Good service and still sane prices in 2024. No complaints at all, left with a full happy belly and then some. Not crowded either, thankfully this place is a local secret to this day.

This spot is a great spot to get some OG mexican food. They have a big space and plenty of parking. They have a good size menu but I usually go for the combo plates because you get a lot of food for around 15 bucks. All the plates come with rice and beans, and the meal starts with chips and salsa, which is solid. My go to is a crispy beef taco and enchilada. Both are covered with cheese and delicious. You will get all the authentic mexican food feels. There are other options for meats, and they have burritos, tostada, quesadilla, etc. Definitely a staple on Franklin that is worth trying if your nearby.

First time dining in at Caballo Blanco with Sonia C. and Aubrey R. for a weeknight dinner. They have their own parking lot which is well-lit. I didn't see any Aguas frescas options on the menu, so stuck with...just agua, lol. To start we each got some kind of vegetable/pasta soup and corn tortilla chips and salsa. We also shared some flour tortilla chips, which reminded me more like fluffy fried wontons. Not sure if they use lard here. If you've had the flour tortilla chips at Novillero, they're not the same consistency/texture. #8 Ocho combination plate: 1 beef taco and 1 cheese enchilada, which came with salad, rice, and beans. The cheese enchilada was good; the crispy beef taco held its own. Service was attentive and the meal was filling without being overstuffed. Sonia got a 3 item plate with two tacos and a cheese enchilada; Aub got the chile Colorado beef dish. On your way out, if you're lucky, you might even catch el lindo gato del parking lot.

I came here for dinner with friends because, we've been wanting to try it for a while now. The free corn tortilla chips were delicious and fresh, you can tell with how warm they were and they were yummy. But we also ordered for an additional cost, the flour tortilla chips and they were so good too and so fluffy. The salsa was good but pretty spicy. The complimentary soup was great it tasted like something homemade with some veggies, pasta, and tomato broth, and it didn't have any meat. I ordered the 3 items to make your own plate. My 3 items were: crunchy carnitas taco, carne asada taco, and the cheese enchilada. The cheese enchilada was pretty good but, not my most favorite thing on the plate. The tacos were very delicious, the soft taco with carne asada was stuffed with meat and it was soo tasty. The crunchy carnitas was so delicious as well. The beans on the side were yummy and my favorite side. The rice was good but I prefer my Spanish rice to have more tomato flavor personally. The service was good and timely as well.

With authentic flavors and food items, there's not many like it around town. Bodega serves up food from the Caribbean Islands. One of their most popular dishes is their jerk chicken. They have this both as a chicken wing appetizer and as a plated dinner. I personally really enjoy white meat when it comes to chicken and the dinner plate was leg and thigh so I opted to go with the wing appetizer. My only complaint about it was its size. I thought it could have had more wings as I thoroughly enjoyed each one with the jerk sauce I added to it. The wings were very crisp on the outside and full of flavor. Adding the jerk sauce or their house made hot sauces enhanced the flavor even more. I could really see myself coming just for these wings! I also had the Cubano sandwich. This hot, pressed sandwich has ham, cheese, pickles, and mustard. It's a popular item that also is bursting with flavor. The combination of all the ingredients was mouthwatering. It comes with a side of fries to round out the meal. Service at Bodega was very nice. We found the servers to be very patient with us and the food came out reasonably. I was specifically there for a birthday party where we had cake being served from outside the restaurant. Bodega has a cake cutting charge, but seeing our tiny cake they waived it for us! It's a cute restaurant and definitely different than many you will find around Sacramento. If you're in the pocket area, Bodega is well worth a visit!

And they are still there after almost 12 years! Both Bruce and I are very picky when we go somewhere to have what we think is going to be a 'freshly made, and high quality beef hamburger.......'; BUT when it ACTUALLY is, and it is such HIGH quality in the entire meal (the burger, the bun, the REAL ice cream shake, and the freshly cut batter dipped, and very crispy and HOT fries) falls into this category, then I am going to be very honest with my review! This quaint, but very good sized Burger Drive In is FLAWLESS in everything!!!! The decor, food, owner/and staff, and the prices is PERFECT! The meal was so large and good, that I could not eat it all. Then when Patricia gave us 2 of each of their specially fresh made dipping sauces.......well, I could not have been more happy! BUT what set this into the 'Winners Cup' arean for me, they had REAL Reese's Peanut Butter and she even made it possible for me to have it on my FRESH and very high standard double cheese burger!!!! PERFECTLY Perfect as Mary Poppins would say. HIGHLY recommend this secret gem right almost next to the world famous Gunther's Ice Cream on Franklin Blvd. Thanks SO much for the experience; Patricia!! We will be back very soon, as I cannot wait to have the FRESH Fruit Blackberry Shake! ** Bruce had the Barq's Root Beer shake and he loved it!

If you're comparing it to In-N-Out or Five Guys it can hold its own. But these stars aren't putting it against a sit down with a server taking your order type of restaurant. First off, the service was stellar. I was wearing a veteran shirt and as I was ordering the person asked if I was a vet and proceeded to give me a discount for my service. She said this is normal and you can show your ID etc for it. There was no reason for her to do that so it surprised me. I also had a guy ask me if my table was clean enough as he was walking around cleaning up. Then later after I was on my way out he asked if I was happy with everything I had. The staff definitely made me feel welcome and happy I spent my money there. I got the double Mushroom Swiss, fries, and a soda. The first bite into the burger I was pleasantly surprised. I read some reviews about the burger being bland. Idk what they were thinking. It was a good burger. I'm not telling everyone I know they have to go there for their next meal, but it was a good burger. The fries were good. The serving was ample. I bought the Hot Mess spicy Ketchup. It was unclear that I could just get ketchup so I thought you had to order the dipping sauce. If you like spicy it definitely had some kick. I think I was expecting a lighter spice. Either way, it was good. Next time I'll probably just get regular ketchup. I wish they had malt vinegar. That would have really made me stoked. Inside the decor was nice and clean. Parking was super easy as well. If you live in Sac you know that sometimes that's really the most painful part of going somewhere. They have a huge parking lot. Overall I was happy with the experience. I'd definitely go again. I really wanted to try one of the shakes. They looked good. I had heard from a bunch of people that it was a good burger and overall I wasn't let down. Like I said at the beginning you can't compare it to a regular sit down restaurant but for what it is, it's definitely worth stopping in and grabbing a fast-ish meal!

The mac and cheese was rich, creamy, cheesy, and packed with flavor. The waffle was a standout. It had a subtle spice to it, a crispy exterior, and paired perfectly with the chicken. The chicken itself was well seasoned, perfectly battered, and fried just right. And then there's the Red Kool-Aid. Fixins should honestly bottle that stuff and sell it by the gallon because it was THAT good. One thing that caught my eye on the menu was their Kool-Aid soaked pickle.
