    Pollo Loco

This old establishment is just as I remember it, nothing fancy, very casual. The service is excellent and appreciate their friendliness. My pollo loco was fine but nothing special, the salad that came with it was maybe 3-4 bites. What was delicious was the soup that comes with dinner - that was excellent! The flour tortillas chips were addicting too, they were so good. My friend had trouble finding the chicken in her tacos - it was minimal. It was a reasonably priced restaurant so wouldn't mind returning to try something different.

I had been going here 40 years. It was the go to Mexican restaurant of mine and my late husband. He passed 10 years ago so I haven't had the heart to go back without him. But I finally did on what would have been our anniversary. It's alright but it's not the same. Food has lost a lot of its flavor. They used to have the best red sauce on their enchiladas. Now it's pedestrian nothing special. And of course the homemade fried flour tortilla chips are gone replaced with common bagged tortilla chips. Shame...nothing ever stays the same. Service was friendly and excellent.

Around for ages, older than most patrons and even servers here, Caballo Blanco is a Sacramento Mexican dining staple. Upon walking in there's cobblestone and wood all over the place. The place feels old and historic but by design. It's well kept and clean. My grandparents met here on the second floor back when it was open at night for live music and dancing. Knowing that holds a special place in my heart. So I'm inclined to like the place. Last Friday was only second visit here. Why my mom never brought me here growing up knowing her parents met here, I will never know. But the food is damn good here! Its authentic classic Mexican dishes make me want to try everything on the menu. The complimentary chips and salsa are the perfect starters to a great meal. Then the soup that is included with every entree are like a small hug from an old family member. The broth is hearty, the noodles and perfect. I could eat a huge bowl of it. The guac appetizer is creamy and flavorful, would recommend. The carnitas here are juicy yet crispy, they also serve a lot of it . Tortillas served with every dish are handmade and taste spectacular. Their beans are really good but I'm not sold on the rice. Went with the steak on my last visit and that hit the spot! Servers here are attentive and friendly. The crew here is tight knit and get people in and out in a timely fashion without the hurry up feeling. Caballo Blanco's food impressed my fiancee and I within the first few minutes of our visit. Her and I will be back again and again as it is now one of our favorite Mexican restaurant options in the Sacramento area.

Upon entering we were able to seat ourselves no wait time. Our servers was Lupe & Pepe they were more than accommodating with personality plus. We ordered the Skirt Steak Enchilada with Rice & Beans and Filete De Pescado with rice & Beans. Our food was served piping heat hot and oh my goodness the food was AWSOME! Packed with lots of flavor. The food was definitely prepared with much love. You will be amazed. We definitely will be back.

Delicious food, both the chicana de res and chile colorado are flavorful and good quality beef. The service here is quick and friendly. I like the interior decorations it feels old school but kept up. There is a parking lot in the back as well which is nice.

Yes this restaurant is still fire. I haven't been here in over 30 years. However, after 30 years I finally returned and it was everything I remembered it to be. The restaurant is older but it's clean and the staff is amazing. It's not to noisy and very inviting. The food is fire, I had the 2 beef taco and cheese enchilada combo. Everything tasted really good and they give you plenty of food. I enjoyed everything and I definitely recommend sliding through here.

Caballo Blanco is past sixty years of having the best table chips in Sacramento, possibly the world. Don't forget your food is coming after though. Got the spicy chicken. Their spicy actually is spicy, not Burger King angry fries fake spicy. You won't not take stuff home. I am stuffed but somehow still hungry for more. This is not light Mexican food for those on diets such as myself, though the salad is good. They serve soup before dinner but not worth mentioning. Good service and still sane prices in 2024. No complaints at all, left with a full happy belly and then some. Not crowded either, thankfully this place is a local secret to this day.

This spot is a great spot to get some OG mexican food. They have a big space and plenty of parking. They have a good size menu but I usually go for the combo plates because you get a lot of food for around 15 bucks. All the plates come with rice and beans, and the meal starts with chips and salsa, which is solid. My go to is a crispy beef taco and enchilada. Both are covered with cheese and delicious. You will get all the authentic mexican food feels. There are other options for meats, and they have burritos, tostada, quesadilla, etc. Definitely a staple on Franklin that is worth trying if your nearby.

With authentic flavors and food items, there's not many like it around town. Bodega serves up food from the Caribbean Islands. One of their most popular dishes is their jerk chicken. They have this both as a chicken wing appetizer and as a plated dinner. I personally really enjoy white meat when it comes to chicken and the dinner plate was leg and thigh so I opted to go with the wing appetizer. My only complaint about it was its size. I thought it could have had more wings as I thoroughly enjoyed each one with the jerk sauce I added to it. The wings were very crisp on the outside and full of flavor. Adding the jerk sauce or their house made hot sauces enhanced the flavor even more. I could really see myself coming just for these wings! I also had the Cubano sandwich. This hot, pressed sandwich has ham, cheese, pickles, and mustard. It's a popular item that also is bursting with flavor. The combination of all the ingredients was mouthwatering. It comes with a side of fries to round out the meal. Service at Bodega was very nice. We found the servers to be very patient with us and the food came out reasonably. I was specifically there for a birthday party where we had cake being served from outside the restaurant. Bodega has a cake cutting charge, but seeing our tiny cake they waived it for us! It's a cute restaurant and definitely different than many you will find around Sacramento. If you're in the pocket area, Bodega is well worth a visit!

We ordered the plantain nachos, jerk chicken, guava shrimp, and pineapple upside down cake. Our party ordered margaritas, which they said was on the stronger side. This was my first time here after watching algorithmic ads popping through my feed for months on end. Lucky's was also on my Yelp Sacramento collection so that was that. Parking was a breeze on a Wednesday past 1pm last July. They have a dedicated lot as well as street parking. We entered into a 50's dining room embellished with a front end of a '57 Chevy and that eerie mannequin which seemingly swaps attire as well as changes locations based on posted photos. Let's not forget to mention that red English double-decker bus at the patio and the literal red-room of a (spic & span) toilet. It was warm outside so our group dined-in the air-conditioned interior as opposed to the covered veranda. The bus wasn't available for customers yet. I inhaled my Mushroom and Swiss burger with a side of seasoned fries cooked in beef tallow. Compared to the processed seed oils, beef tallow is a better alternative. Also a plus-plus was the garlic aioli dip which was a worth-it extra 0.49¢. My friends expressed their satisfaction on having an All-American burger meal. I believed they ordered the Lucky Burger and Bacon Ranch Burgers with shakes and sodas. Lucky's is a nice place that feels like a locally owned business and not a venue of another chain eatery. Staff were warm and helpful. And, oh, we met that lady (the real one) from the adverts. She handed me the spatula keychain for the restroom key and encouraged us to explore the patio.

It was a nice surprise to see a hand written "Congratulations and Happy Anniversary" card. A complimentary treat of Focaccia bread with avocado and kimchi was given as well as a glass of champagne for the both of us. Our waiter was helpful, offering his opinion on what wine to take. We went for whatever he suggested for white (for her) and red (for me). Both were good picks. Our dinner started with toasted focaccia bread. She ordered a Caesar salad also. The appetizer was 3 large slices of bread with stracciatella and pear compote. The bread was light and buttery. The stracciatella was good blending well with the bread. The Caesar salad was a big serving. Tasty and simple, nothing special. Our main entree was filet mignon for my wife and wagyu rib eye for me, both medium rare. The filet was topped with garlic confit and I added chimichurri to my ribeye. The plating was simple, the protein with the side and roasted garlic. We also added smashed potatoes to share. Our first bite was the meat itself with no dressing. I can taste why the steak was priced that way. It just melted in my mouth and left a nice smooth aftertaste. We exchanged bites, she felt the same way and I agreed that her filet was perfect. After adding the roasted garlic and chimichurri, the slices were heavenly. The surprise for me was the smashed potatoes. First time trying this dish and I was impressed. The crispness of the skin was a nice surprise. The butter and garlic added another layer of flavor. We topped our dinner with a toffee bread pudding with vanilla ice cream and caramel. I'm not a dessert person but this, this was good! Overall it was a great dinner. The food was excellent. The staff was amazing. Of course, my date was beautiful. Thank you Butcher and Barrel for an awesome dinner experience!

The fries were actually pretty good, an above average standard French fry with salt. The burger however was phenomenal. There was an amazing crust on the outside reminiscent of a backyard bbq. There was ample bacon, lettuce, cheese and sauce to make it a balanced bite. The bun was high end brioche style, they really went all out on quality of ingredients.
