Another good meal from Freeport Bar and Grill, very busy for Father's Day lunch. Service was slow which was expected, so seems like the food may have sat for a quick minute. Unfortunately one of the servers was very rude as we were waiting for a table. Basically telling us to stand in the front of the host stand and block other people trying to get a table. On the way out she walked in front of us at the hallway kitchen and stood in the middle of the way. I did say something about blocking our way, not a great experience this go around. read more

This is one of those restaurants that locals know about for some good food and reasonable prices. It's not fancy so anyone will feel comfortable. We sat in a back area that is enclosed outdoor seating. This is my first time here and I was told to try the steak sandwich which did not disappoint. The steak was very well seasoned and juicy. Freeport Bar & Grill is such a great hidden gem and a must when traveling back from Clarksburg. I went for drinks with friends and sat at the bar while I waited for them. I ordered wine, they have a great selection of local wines from wineries like Bogle and Heringer, which are always solid choices. The bartender Paco is always so friendly and welcoming serving up a smile even when he is slammed, which was the case tonight. Regular after regular walked in with an enthusiastic greeting as soon as they saw Paco. He was taking care of the bar and the whole front of the restaurant, seriously this guy deserves a raise. I ordered the fried chicken salad which comes with your choice of dressings. It was tasty and the chicken portion was nice and generous. Which was great because I was starving! My friends arrived too late to order food. Hopefully the kitchen thinks about staying open after 10 on the weekends even if it's a limited menu. We were greeted right when we walked in. We wanted to sit outside since it was a nice weather; however, it was busy so we decided to sit inside for faster service. After driving by this place many times while driving through Freeport, we decided to stop by for dinner recently. We made a reservation because it always looked busy. Parking was easy. We started with a bottle of the Silt Rose ($31.00) and looked over the menu. We had the Fish and Chips ($23.95). This spot is my go-to for a giant, reasonably priced steak sandwich that's always cooked to perfection. I usually select the salad as my side and then load up my sandwich with Thousand Island dressing, lettuce, and tomato to create a full-on feast. Honestly, the portions are so generous I've never managed to finish more than half. There's a bit of gristle around the edges, but considering the sheer size and quality of steak, it's an incredible deal. The place has a casual, laid-back diner vibe, with a bar out front and a steady stream of friendly locals. The menu is varied-- there's something for just about everyone. Recently visited the Freeport Bat & Grill for 2 work events and left satisfied. The location is neat, down road on Freeport past delta shores. It feels like you're a a country small town. The building has old town charm and as you enter from the bar area you're instantly transport back in time. We sat in the back patio, by a water fountain. The server was patient and as effective as you can be with a party of 15. I ordered a Cheyenne Burger. It was a decent burger. Not bad, but I wouldn't say outstanding. I was craving prime rib and live close to this place. I've only been here once before and know that it is a local favorite. Prime rib is made fresh and not served until 5 PM. You can call ahead to make a reservation, we wanted a booth. I'm so glad we called ahead because the booths get taken up quickly. This place gets busy quick. What I got were greasy little tater tots that were tasteless and coated in some sort of orange coating. For bread I got an english muffin that was not toasted. The sausage was good, but the eggs looked to be they served 1 egg. Not what one would expect for $18.00. Coffee was good. Waitress took the order, some other person delivered it, and I never saw her again for a coffee refill or asking if I needed anything else. The dish was tasty, but it was definitely not what I think of as corned beef hash. It was shredded corned beef with deep fried potatoes. Service - The service was pretty good. The lady was attentive and our food came pretty quickly despite the place being pretty busy. No complaints about the staff. Food - I got a pastrami sandwich and my friend got a turkey club. We split to have a piece of each and I enjoyed the turkey club more than the pastrami. The pastrami was a little bland, but I really enjoyed the turkey club. Fries were good. Overall, the food was pretty good and the service and vibe was good. Today we finished playing golf at Bartley - Cavanaugh Golf Course and wanted to grab dinner someplace in the area. We decided to try the Freeport Bar & Grill. So glad we stopped here. When entering you walk into the bar area initially with several tables in that area. We were seated in the back where this opens into the restaurant area. Behind that is a patio area with gas heaters. Nice area. The staff was very friendly and very attentive to us and all the other patrons. Pretty nice menu selection with plenty of choices. Our meals came out quickly and included bread and a choice of salad or soup. Our dinners were nicely presented and the portions were good size and had good flavor. I ordered the Blackened Salmon served with Mash Potatoes and vegetables. This wasn't the typical Blackened Salmon but the Salmon was cooked perfectly and had a cajon or blackened type of sauce over it. Just the right amount. My wife and daughter had the Braised Short Rib over Mashed Potatoes and Vegetables. They both liked the dish. I saw quite a few people ordering their Fish & Chips and it looked really good from what I saw. Nice sized serving of fish and it also looked to be cooked perfectly. My husbands cousins Celebration of Life was held at the Freeport B & G Patio yesterday..Absolutely the nicest Celebration of Life I have ever been too. From the flowers on the tables (Provided by GrowLuv Farm) to the food & the cookies (I made) & cupcakes.. the event space was absolutely beautiful with white linen tablecloths& those gorgeous green & white floral bouquets..plenty of fans on our hottest day so far along with plenty of ice water in dispensers.. I can't say enough about the 2 young ladies (I didn't get their names but they know who they are) were the best ever!! So nice, helpful, attentive & went over & above to make sure we had (100 folks probably!) everything we needed...checking on each & every table all throughout to keep glasses filled, plates taken if done eating, fresh water & ice being refilled.. Anyway, instead of a funeral, the family had this & will be so fondly remembered..Many old friends & family not seen for a long time came to celebrate Billy..I am sure he is smiling from Heaven. read more

I came here on Mother's Day with my Mom, Dad and brother. We had a 1:00 reservation and were seated inside promptly and were very happy since they were very busy. We had to ask for menus as they weren't provided when we were seated. . It took quite a while before our order was taken. Around 2:00 (an hour after we were seated) our server apologized for the extremely long wait but assured us our order was being prepared. Finally around 2:10, our food was served. The food was okay. The Bar-B-Q pork ribs didn't have any sauce on them. They were supposed to come with onion rings and I had asked for extra sauce on the side to dip my onion rings in. I got sauce on the side but no onion rings, as expected. There were a few tiny onion strings on top of my ribs. Such a disappointment! (Later I saw another person sitting near us with the ribs and she had large onion rings on her plate). My brother ordered the New York steak sandwich. It was a large, thick New York steak on a dry french roll. Much too big to even be eaten as a sandwich. He wasn't asked how he wanted his steak prepared. It was prepared medium, which he was okay with. The pot roast that my dad ordered was okay. My mom, the person we came to honor, had the salmon and it was okay but nothing special, it came with a small portion of mixed veggies. I've eaten here a couple times before, ordering off the regular menu, and the entrees came with wonderful garden salads. The Mother's Day entrees didn't come with salads and yet they cost the same. A yummy salad would have made our hour-long wait more bearable. I do not recommend coming here on Mother's Day. Very disappointing. read more

We've been to this neighborhood spot many times, but recently we've been a bit disappointed with the service. We came on a Wednesday afternoon for a late lunch. The establishment had patrons but it was not crowded at all. We were seated by the hostess who then informed a waitress that she had a new table. We wait...and wait...and then see another table being seated. Then, we see the waitress approach that table to take their order. Ok, an oversight, but when she walks by we say "excuse me" to get her attention. The response we got was, "I'm the only here, I'll be back." I get the short staff, but that should have been shared when we were sat and tables should be taken by order of arrival. We waited some more and then decided to leave.
