Cabana used to be awesome in 90's and early 2000's. Food not as good except the Mett. Service has gone down, but beggars can't be choosers.

I went to this restaurant i an gluten sensitive. I wanted to order a certain dish, but I could not have the breaded shrimp. I asked if they could substitute the grilled shrimp, and they refused to do it. They made my drink wrong. I couldn't drink it! I asked them to remove it from my bill. They wouldn't do it. (I did not drink it) I ordered a hamburger patty only for my dog who is a service dog. And they charged me for the whole meal. The waitress was wonderful. She did a great job, but I will never go back due to the fact that the manager and the bar staff were very rude and inconsiderate to special-needs situations. read more

You get the choice to eat inside our out of course chose outside I feel like every where is a good view I didn't need to be up close to the river I love where we sat. The drinks we order was like living on the beach close your eyes and imagine the service was fast and friendly couldn't ask for a better server. So I took a weekend trip out to Cincy from Chicago and stopped in at Cabana On The River for lunch. I must say that despite the volume of families with screaming kids here, the place is actually semi-cool. First off, they have a ton of outdoor seating, which seems to be at a premium in Cincy. WTF?? It's impossible to find an outdoor cafe in this city. Second, the food was the bomb! I mean, don't get me wrong, you can certainly order something entirely horrendous like the tuna salad with slices of Kraft cheese, which looks absolutely disgusting. But hey my burger was gia-normous and cooked to perfection. They have some serious Grade-AAAA+ beef out here in the country and damn is it tasty! Now to the drinks...it seems they have an endless supply of drink specials, especially on beer. When you walk in it looks like you high school homecoming football game with endless posters advertising $3-something beer. My 16 oz Mic-light drafts were just $2.50 (and that even regular price!). No way in hell will you find that in Chicago. Again, if the ridiculous kids weren't screaming their heads off I would have had a blast here. I hope someday these families would just go to McDonalds instead and leave the serious beer drinking specials to those who deserve it! read more

Tried to order to go food. Just a salad. Was going to eat it while I watched volleyball. Was told that I had to leave the premises with my salad. I could order fried food. That's perfectly fine. But a salad?? Hell no. The "kitchen can't support that area." But I could have the salad if I left with it. No thanks. I'll just take my business elsewhere. To be honest, I think that the majority of people who come here come for the view and booze more than the food. There is a LOVELY view of the river. My boyfriend and I stopped in on our way back from our anniversary vacation in Ohio, and we got to watch the sunset. Their drinks are pretty good. My boyfriend LOVED the strawberry piña colada. I was a huge fan of their Long Island Iced Tea, which is not on the menu but I read about online and asked for. Moving into the food- We shared some shrimp and crab balls. They were pretty good actually. It's not something I would normally order but my boyfriend picked them out and considering it isn't something I usually enjoy, they were pretty good. I wanted mozzarella sticks so we ordered those too. It was completely passable. Nothing exceptional, but not bad either. Boyfriend ordered the fried fish basket. It was ok. Mostly just bland. The fish itself was pretty well cooked, very flaky, but we weren't a fan of the coating. I ordered the grilled mahi mahi. Again, it was well cooked but very bland. The "fresh citrus salad" was the best part of the meal. The seasoned rice and veggies tasted frozen/canned and definitely not seasoned. Service was ok. The atmosphere was great. Our waitress was outgoing, but it took a while for her to come back around to give us a refill and when she did she brought around a pitcher of water down soda then when I got my salad, I paid an extra seven dollars for a chicken breast and you could definitely tell that it was frozen and I didn't even eat it. I said it to the side on a napkin, I paid $15 for a salad that was not even worth half of that. The atmosphere is gray but the food quality is horrible especially for the price. read more

This was only the second time I have eaten at Cabana. I would say that the atmosphere is definitely a huge plus for this restaurant! My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary! We sat at a table down by the river! It was gorgeous weather! The food was not outstanding but it wasn't bad at all. The service was about average, also not bad. The atmosphere and view of the river is great! They have sand volleyball courts, picnic tables out on the grass and plenty of seating under coverage and on the patio. Food is alright! Really depends on what you get. Some people in our party got the buffalo chicken sandwich and soft pretzels as the appetizer and loved it but the steak on a stick was not worth it at all. Our server was wonderful and we loved the drinks! We came specifically to sit out on the patio on the river (there were very few people there when we arrived) and because we had a "larger party" (more than 6), they refused to seat us out there. We stated that we were completely fine with splitting up into smaller tables (we just wanted to enjoy the view!) but they still refused. We respect not wanting to push together tables but we were very confused and disappointed behind their reasoning/logic why they still wouldn't sit us out there. Besides that, we give it a 3/5! My husband and I went here for dinner tonight. First time out after quarantine. We used Yelp check in, which was great but still sat for one hour in our car waiting for a table. The servers all wore masks, I felt sorry for them. Only every other table was seated to allow for proper distancing. Our server Sam, was terrific. She brought us our food quickly. We ordered the calamari appetizer. It was good but the marinara sauce needed some spicing up. I ordered the Black and blue steak salad. My husband ordered the beef tenderloin sandwich. Both of our steaks were so tender ,we could not believe the great quality! We told our server that our steaks were better than those served at many higher-end restaurants. You know that it is good when you order a steak rare and can cut it with a plastic knife. I took a picture after I had already started eating my steak salad so it is not appropriately represented but was so delicious that I dug in right away. I was a little disappointed that they were not serving dessert yet but cut them some slack since this was the first opening after many months closed. The food is average, the service we had was terrible. We left to smoke after asking the direction to go and they took our drinks and cleaned our table even though they still had our lunch order. The waitresses comment was ' you left your table unattended! ' No manager on site, and couldn't get the waitress back even for drinks. Ruined the afternoon! While in another area, Spoke to a different waitress who was more than helpful and even got someone from the kitchen to come out and try to rectify the situation. Amazing ambiance and a great place for a family event or for a date. Got here around 7 on a Friday, the place was packed. There was live music which complemented the view of the river. The waitresses are very attentive and attractive (ahem). Ordered cajun shrimp appetizer and salmon burger. They bought it these colossal shrimp on a skewer than packed more flavor than a tropical fruit sundae on steroids... The view was amazing. Prices reasonable for what you get. Rather than spending this past weekend on the east-side of town with my parents (who are actually on vacation) we spent the last week of our homelessness at my in-laws house. After work Friday my wife and I decided to head out for dinner and settled on Cabana on the River. When she first mentioned it I thought that I had been to this restaurant before, but I was confusing it with Fore and Aft, a floating restaurant on the Ohio River that actually sank a few years back. I wasn't a fan of my dining experience there, so I was glad to realize that I would be trying something new. Cabana on the River sits adjacent to where Fore and Aft once stood. However, the Cabana is not actually on the river, it just overlooks it. We arrived before six and were able to get a table on the outside deck right away. The popular west-side restaurant became increasingly crowded throughout our visit. The views of the river are pretty nice and the weather was nearly perfect outside. While waiting for one of my wife's cousins to join us, we decided to split an order of baked spicy cabana bread, French bread baked with bleu cheese, hot ham, hard salami, bacon, onions, banana peppers, jalapeños, and topped with provolone cheese. A cup of marinara sauce is provided on the side for dipping. At $8.95 it was one of the priciest appetizers on the list, but was a good amount of food for the two of us. All of the toppings are finely chopped and blanketed in cheese. I didn't detect any bleu cheese while eating, but I did enjoy it. For dinner I decided to try the chicken salad sandwich. Unfortunately for me, I was not all that happy with this selection. The chicken salad was really generic in taste and overloaded with mayonnaise. The sandwich cost $7.95 and was served with a bag of potato chips. My wife had the grilled chicken breast with summer vegetable kabob with seasoned rice for $10.95. The chicken had a great grill flavor and the vegetables were pretty tasty as well. Once again it seems to be a tad on the expensive side, especially when served with plastic silverware and paper plates. My wife's cousin had the CAB Burger, which was gigantic! (Sorry I didn't get a picture) CAB stands for the Certified Angus Beef that the burger is made from. Again it was served with a bag of potato chips for $9.95. I'm not a burger eater, but that also seemed a little on the high end of the price scale. Perhaps the cost is due to the riverside location. With that said, it must balance out right for most people since the restaurant is large and the tables were full. Perhaps there just isn't much else to eat on this side of town. read more

The atmosphere is nice and relaxing. My friends and I are playing sand volleyball on Tuesday nights - which is great (it even has its own bar). However, we went to eat at the main restaurant after and the service and wait time were lousy. It's a Tuesday and not super busy at all - in fact the sign told us to seat ourselves. We waited awhile for the server to come and take our drink order, etc. After we ordered our food, it took at least 20 minutes - most likely closer to 30 minutes - for it to arrive and no one had ordered anything crazy that would take that long. One of our friends ordered soup and it came with a pack of crackers and when she politely asked for more, our server acted dumbfounded and said they were out of them. Another friend got tater skins and I was just surprised to see his sour cream came in packet form. We waited forever for refills on our water and drinks too. We'll continue to support the volleyball area and the bar there - the service on that part is excellent, but after 2 weeks in a row of similar service, not so sure I want to eat in the restaurant again unless i have an extra 2 hours. read more

Ate there this week and waited about 45 minutes. Hostess, Kyla, was extremely friendly and helpful. Food was an absolute waste. Completely overpriced for the quality. Took a while for it to come out and I couldn't even eat more than a few bites. They're counting too much on the view to care about anything else it seems. read more

This is in response to the owners response of my review from Friday 13....Just don't say an hour if you truly have no idea...waiting 2 1/2 hours is just an unacceptable amount of time to wait..I understand not taking up 2 tables when we were seated (though a very small round table) at 1 table for our party.. However what I was most upset about is the wait... someone should have just been honest with us ..and I'm sorry but friends of ours that happen to come down they were a party of 6 no Yelp call ahead and they were seated within 30 mins ...So my biggest complaint is the 2 1/2 hour wait when we were told an hour....Had we known we would have left earlier. Just be honest, it just wasn't good business to have someone wait that long..it was ridiculous!!!..good luck hope you get it figured out!
