Not bad for summerfare. it's a place where kids are running and playing a bit freely so if you arent a fan of kids, you may want to choose a quieter place, It's ideal for eating with your preteens where you can enjoy a drink without the critism of people without children. In a nutshell it's a chincy place with cheap plastic patio furniture to sit at, cheap plastic cups to drink from, and unfriendly staff. The "manager" tried to force me to pay for a terrible drink that I sent back after one sip because it was disgusting. We had only just ordered and received our drinks. Needless to say, I made it clear I'm not paying for something disgusting. We left and she harrassed us all the way to our car and took a picture of our license plate and said she was calling the cops. I've never had a problem with the service or anything but my last visit was by far the worst experience. I called on a Wednesday the week before and asked about reservations and of course they don't take any. I even mentioned I had a huge group. (20-25 people). I arrived around 6 knowing it would be a long wait on a Saturday. My party was arriving around 7, and the surprise was happening at 7:30. When we put our name down at 6 I was told we had 25 large parties ahead of us.. I knew it was going to be a wait but when I looked on the app they use it said 56 parties ahead of us! It went by kinda quickly but it was still a pain. By the time we sat it was 8:30. The party wasn't sitting together which is fine, but kinda frustrating. Our server took 20 minutes to get our drink order and it took 45 minutes to get a food order. We didn't end up eating until 9:45-10pm. The order was wrong and it was a mess. Moral of the story.. they need a system for large parties. If you don't have the app yet download "no wait" before you go. You can put yourself on the list before arriving. I wish I knew about it ahead of time! The food is always good, but the service needs to improve! read more

We went last night after so many recommendations from co-workers & family members. It was well worth it. I loved the view. We sat by the water with a cool breeze blowing. We had the Mahi-Mahi Sandwich, Premium Pot Roast Sandwich, Baked Spicy Cabana Bread for an appetizer and they also serve Cheesecake Factory Cheesecakes. It almost felt like I was at a restaurant in the Keys in Florida with the boats going by. They didn't have the live music when I went. But, they were playing music. Kind of like a Jimmy Buffett type atmosphere. I highly recommend this place. Friends have recommended the Bavarian Pretzel Sticks & the Basket of Pickle Chips too. read more

Awesome!!! Beautiful view of the Ohio River and it is as the name says, a true Cabana on the river. The atmosphere is light, fun and very laid back. the service is just a little on the slow side, but no one seems to care. We just want to sit back and relax even after we've finished our meal. The menu has a nice variety to choose from and the food really is very good. I have tried several different items on the menu and all have been delicious. But no matter what I order, I always add a bowl of their awesome white chicken chili. It is a treat! We live an hour away but try to go at least a couple times a summer just to eat there. Only downside is that they are only open spring, summer and into fall. read more

The cabana is great. Many nights on the deck with good company, conversation and the cabana red. Food is great and the kids even love to eat here before a Reds game. If the sun is shining, a great place to eat and enjoy the weather. read more

It's rough not being from Cincinnati and not knowing all of the little "gems" to eat at. I tried this place because of word of mouth and enthusiastic praise from locals. I visited Cabana on a beautiful summer afternoon with a friend for lunch. They have an impressive setup as it's location alongside the river gives it a beautiful view of the surrounding rolling hills of Kentucky and scenic Ohio. Also, it was packed so I figured this was another good sign. Our waitress was as nice as she could be and very courteous. Unfortunately, when our food arrived I wasn't immediately blown away. It wasn't the fact that it came on a paper plate. I could care less about that. I ordered a hoagie and...well frankly, it just didn't look good...and it didn't taste good either. No seasoning and I mean NONE. I figured JTM patty, maybe. My friend got a chicken sandwich and it looked like it was likely manufactured pre-formed chicken shaped patties. Strangely enough, the fries were really good! Haha, I'm not kidding either. Anyway, I will go back I think maybe the hoagie just wasn't there "thing". In hindsight, every man there was eating a "Cab burger" I noticed, so maybe that's the ticket. My theory is that, like Drew's bar a little more up the river, this place has killer atmosphere going for it and that's why people come back. Subpar service, fried/starchy food and riverside restaurant describes this place. Does that sound harsh? Ok, it's not THAT bad. But service was really slow and our waitress needs a lesson in hospitality. Twice she brought me Corona Extra instead of Corona Light, did not check on us until we had to ask for bill, not bringing my son a refill EVER etc. etc. but the servers would be standing around the hostess station just talking with miserable looks on their face. The menu was a typical fried fish and burger menu (couldn't tell if frozen burger or not and idk if that's good or bad lol) French fries were cold. Mahi mahi and rice was much appreciated from my son though. The fried haddock sandwich was open faced and served on 2 pieces of bread side by side, the southwest chicken salad had barely any beans corn or other toppings :( BUT the saving grace for this place is the bar and the riverside location. Despite it being full on a Saturday night or wait was only 10 minutes. Wouldn't return. read more

Poor impression for my first visit... My companion's meal arrived at least 10-12 min. before my small shrimp appetizer. The sign and the waitress both told me the small portion had 7 shrimp. It came with only 6. No sign of our server so I flagged down another and also asked for a fork. Neither fork nor extra shrimp ever arrived. When the server finally checked on us, I asked about the shrimp and was told the sign was wrong. All the small shrimp orders had 6. Then the bills came and, in spite of sending her tea back because it tasted horrible, my friend was charged for it. When she asked the server, she was told "Well, you did order it." So, my friend asked for a Diet Coke to go, since she was paying for a drink. The server said that was fine, but brought it without a lid! I may give them one more try because her salad looked great, but maybe not... Poor service is not acceptable. read more

We have been coming to the Cabana for years. we have seen it grow from a relatively small bar and eatery to the large and always packed river side outfoor event. tonight we went there for a dinner and upon arriving, we saw that parking wss at a premium, thankfully..the owner bought the lot next door and we finally got lucky and found a spot. On to the immense waiting list....the ladies at the greeting desk told us to come back in 20 minutes. just to get our buzzer.!! We waited....because, we learned, if you come here , you are going to wait. only tonight was different, the Cabana was nuts. people everywhere... when we finally got a table, my wife wss concerned that the kifchen eould be behind so much we would wait for a ling time and the food would nof be as good as it usually is. get we were wsited on pretty quickly ( surprise..) and to expedite things we ordered.... wife loves the grilled chicken sandwich...and I am a mahi mahi lover. the food came as quickly as it always does and it was perfect... it you havent been to the cabana, you wont believe tbe crowd, the food, the menu, or the view. until you get yo eag there. but don't be in a hurry on a nice weeknight or weekend... its a wsit, but worth it.. read more

One O'clock in the afternoon myself and my wife were told a party of two could not be seated, after informing the waitress that we could easily see no less then 14 tables empty, each table was pushed together to seat 8 or more people, and could easily be moved apart for a table of 4. We were told along with three other couples that those tables were being held in "case" some large groups showed up. We left and went down the street to Drews, low and behold other couples, told the same as us started coming there also. Never experienced such stupid practices, from such non caring people before. Decided last minute to have some dinner with a friend at Cabana. I always seem to forget just how far away it is for me *20 miles*. My friend arrived before me and there was a wait, she gave her name and we waited about an hour for a table. We ran into a friend of hers so the wait was not a big deal and it was Friday night and one of the first nice nights here in a long time. We ordered the fried pickle chips...very tasty but a small portion. She ordered the filet kabob, she liked it and ended up taking some home. I ordered the boneless wing appetizer..and apparently I missed the part on the menu where it stated that the wings were dry and came with a side of hot sauce. I asked for a side of ranch and was given a packet of ranch, ok no problem. The portion was a nice size, but the "boneless wings" were so dry. I tried to salvage them by dipping them in ranch and that seemed to help. I know now to NOT get the boneless wings. I ordered the orange dream frozen drink and it was delicious, so I would definitely recommend that. I usually visit Cabana during the week when its dead for some day drinking with friends, but will also come back for some fun on the weekend. read more

We were excited to see that a local place had outdoor dining, and on the river WOOHOO!!! It was a holiday weekend so it was busy. The sign said "seat yourself". We found a table with three chairs (two of us) so we sat down. Fifteen minutes later, a waitress came up and said we would have to leave because the table was for at 5 people. ??????? the two guys next to us must have separated the tables. Two tables with two instead of one table of five?????? We left, went home and had a great time on our deck. What a shame. Terrible customer service. Should have slid the tables together and asked for separate checks. If not for their great location, they probably would be out of business. read more

Being a Delhiesian, I realize how hard to find a place to eat when you want to go out to dinner. However I would like it to be known to not make it Cabana on the River. I am not one to write a bad review because I realize all people are humans and one might have a bad day, but being in the business of service myself I find it terribly distasteful how they treat their customers. I feel the business believes they will always have customers because of their location, I urge you to reconsider the next time you plan on visiting them. The past two times my family has been there they placed my grandfather at the furthest table in the restaurant. My grandfather (who is a veteran and 84 years old) has the hardest time walking and needless to say it took us at least twenty minutes to get to the table. No one ever asked to help (except another customer). When management was approached the first time (on Veteran's Day) we were told to "deal with it". The second time we said something, management, seemed concerned, but still did not offer to help. This place is not handicap friendly or friendly in any regards. I have never been so sad and angry at the same time. Do not let this place continue to take advantage of their wonderful facilities. It is a terrible business with a bad attitude. =( read more

Like the place and the food so we took some friends and ask for a spot on the deck closest to the river which was wide open, we were told that it was closed because they were not very busy and the waitresses didn't like walking that far. We were stuck inside on a beautiful day and our guest were less than impressed. We will not likely return and I know our guest will never return. read more

We had a party of 14, in which 6 were kids. We got there around 5:30 pm, it was some what crowded. We asked in the beginning how long would it be they couldn't say. We kept asking how much longer, they said they couldn't tell us how much longer. I know we asked at least 4 times. Finally after a 2 hour wait we sat down, we saw people who had a large group that already had been seated before us and was finishing up their food. Yes looking back we should of just left but we kept thinking it wouldn't be much longer. While sitting there we saw that they moved tables together to accomdate large groups. Why they didn't do that for us, who knows. This is the worst customer service I have experienced. Don't expect to eat with real plates and real silverware, you get foam plates and plastic silverware. There is even a line for the waitress to complete your bill. Trust me I would never recommend this place to no one. IT IS NOT WORTH THE WAIT. WE WILL NEVER GO BACK.... read more

The view is fantastic but their attitude that they are doing you a favor by allowing you to enter their establishment is less then desirable. We had a party of 8 and when we requested to sit on the outside patio we were told no since the tables were bolted to the floor and couldn't be pushed together. We said that was fine we didn't need tables pushed together just set us next to each other, again no we can't do that. They sat us at 2 tables deliberately with 3 empty tables between us. I am gathering from other reviews that this establishment can get very busy at times but this was not one of those times. It took over 1/2 hour to get our food and it was just ok. Will not be back. Too many other great restaurants up and down the Ohio river that have better food and don't lecture their patrons about their "rules". read more

Went to Cabana on a Tuesday at 5:15 P.M. Had a party of nine people. The place was not crowded when we got there, many open tables. We had a relative in from Miami, Florida and wanted to take him somewhere with good food and a nice atmosphere. The girl took our drink order right away. After that, it was all down hill. About 20 minutes later, we finally got to order our food. She never came back to see if anyone wanted to order another drink. Finally we were able to get her attention, she apologized and said she was swamped. I guess not enough servers. When our food, sandwiches and a salad, was finally served, at least 30 minutes later, the french fries and barbecue sandwiches were not very warm and the barbecue sandwiches were dry. The orders had been sitting for a while. We were somewhat embarrassed as we had told our out-of-town visitor what a nice place Cabana was. The service has always left a lot to be desired. but usually the food and atmosphere make up for the poor service. Also, no fault of Cabana, but the table below us, down a few steps, had four men smoking big cigars with their smoke coming directly to our table while we were eating. Very disappointed. read more
