Went here with my husband and friend for dinner. Truly don't mind splurging for a great meal. Well unfortunately you will spend but wasn't great. We ordered the ribeye special for 2. We ordered it medium, they touted you can get 2 different temps if you want but we both said medium. We knew it was going to be pricy but WTH. We also ordered escargot to start and asparagus to go with the steak. The escargot was good, not the best ive had but good. Don't go by the description, it was in a creamed sauce. I was expecting butter and garlic. The steak comes to our table before cutting. Looks amazing. After several minutes for resting and cutting, they bring our 2 plates with these thinly sliced RARE meat. No turning back. No "back in the oven" as Gordon Ramsey would shout. It was cut and bleeding on the plate. We knew there was no going back so we proceed to eat our dinner. The steak was RARE and chewy, not buttery but chewy with some silver skin in one of my slices. I owned my own restaurant for several years and this is not medium. I know the steak was huge but how about a thermometer to check the temp? The asparagus was overcooked and mushy. The hollandaise a bit curdled. Well to add insult to injury the steak for 2 was 117.00 without sides or anything else. Wow that was a shocker. Not worth it. My dog will be happy with the $117 bones. As you see we go out a lot and not afraid to spend but this was way too much. Don't understand the rating it has but needless to say wont be back and will avoid. Staying in the Alpharetta area for a few days, I invited my friend for lunch to celebrate her birthday. Tavares greeted and escorted us to our table he was very friendly and personable. Bryan was our server, he made food suggestions and wine recommendations to which we ordered a bottle of Benton I ordered the Salmon and asparagus with a dill and capers cream sauce, the salmon and sauce was excellent although I found the portion to be small and plate lacking some type of potato accompaniment. My friend said her burger was delicious and we appreciated the birthday chocolate dessert. Overall our experience was good and I would return. I took my wife to Cabernet for Mother's Day brunch and we both were very pleased with the flow of service and especially the food. The Chateaubriand was my favorite , as it was seasoned very well. Oyster and shrimp , were highlights of the brunch. Foot is always great. Service is consistently excellent. So why three stars? The last few times we've been there the smell of cigar smoke from the bar has permeated the entire dining room which ruins the dining experience. As a first time customer at the cabernet I wish I could give them zero stars. I entered the establishment amongst my family to celebrate my mother and her birthday. There was a hair discovered in one of our appetizers and upon receiving the main entree we were rudely interrupted by a staff member by the name of Tavares. As a first time mom I've never been out in public with my infant daughter just to be portrayed as a disturbance. The staff member stated that since there was another table of guests spending "thousands of dollars", our service didn't matter. My office staff went to Cabernet today to celebrate the promotion of our teammate to Vice President. We booked a reservation for our large group and were greeted promptly when we arrived. Service from Tavares and Greg was top notch. Food was delicious and fresh! We started with the seafood towers featuring the fried lobster tails, crab cakes and shrimp cocktails. They were all awesome. The group ordered various entrees and everything was perfect. Unfortunately no one had room for dessert. The lunch menu prices are in line with the quality and service. I cant believe I've been passing this place for 3 years- my husband and I dropped in on a Monday eve- hands down some pf the BEST service we've ever had. Our servers Robert and Emily didn't miss a beat- and even more amazing not one server passed our table without acknowledging us- the manager stopped and spoke with us as well...and the food- THE FOOD WAS AMAZING! I think all of these great reviews are from people who don't know high quality food like grass fed beef or organics. They only serve grain fed steaks, and point it out on their menu. Grass fed and organic preferred aside, we will not return, this is an extremely over priced place for mediocre food that leverages their fancy atmosphere. read more

Cabernet has been our favorite "date night" restaurant for many months now. The valet knows us by our first name as does the musician! We tip well. We have averaged over $5,000 in a few months. We always sit in the cigar bar and fire up a cigar after dinner. Tonight for my son's birthday with a party of 5 my bill was $475 which was just fine. As I prepared and cut 5 cigars after dinner the waitress informed me that I will be charged a $10 cutting fee per cigar. Mind you all of the previous times my wife and I have been there we were never informed of this Upcharge. It's not the money it's the principle! WE WILL NEVER RETURN! Venue: I was here for lunch, so it was likely a little more subdued in terms of crowd, but the service was nearly impeccable and space itself is bright and spacious with somewhat of a high brow touch with the decor. Vittles: I went all in and had a steak for lunch along with a salad and the bernaise sauce. All around, it was a great meal. The steak was juicy and week flavored, even without the sauce. There were also an assortment of breads that accompanied the meal. I have to say it was probably one of the best steaks I've had in the Atlanta metro area. Verdict: If it weren't so much of a hike, if definitely return. If I'm back in the area for work, I'll definitely recommend meeting her. My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at Cabernet this year and were blown away. Complimentary valet parking is always a nice touch at busy restaurants. There is a cigar lounge that we were seated near; however, the smell was not bothersome at all. The restaurant has a nice ambiance, and the staff was warm, attentive, and informed. (As a side note, we brought our 9-year-old son instead of getting a sitter for the evening. They do have a kids menu and we're happy to have him there.) We consider ourselves self-proclaimed "steak connoisseurs" and are always seeking out new steakhouses to try. Both of us agreed that this steak was the best we've ever had. Outstanding restaurant in Alpharetta that has a great combination of location, ambience, cool bar, great food, and excellent service. As an appetizer, I had the lobster bisque and it was very good and highly recommended. For dinner, I ordered the Ribeye steak and it was cooled to a perfect medium temperature, and a side of potatoes. Dessert included a warm center brownie with vanilla ice cream that was fantastic. "The good, the bad, and the ugly" sums up my first experience with Cabernet. But in the end, I believe that the good won out. Let's start with some good. This upscale Alpharetta steakhouse manages to flawlessly balance the feeling of an upscale steakhouse while leaving out all of the pretentiousness of a Bones or a Chops. It had a more casual and down to earth feel that felt like a breath of fresh air. Now for some of the great. If it weren't for a little fate, I would have missed out on the highlight of the entire evening. The "rock star" of this restaurant is the signature "rock salt" ribeye. This prime rib is marinated for 48 hours and is absolute steak bliss. It was fan-friggin-tastic!!! And to think I came within a whisker of missing out!! My waiter had almost talked me out of it after I explained to him that I don't like "sweet meat", and the prime rib does have a little sweetness in the marinade such as oyster sauce. He therefore recommended that I try something else!!! And then fate intervened. A guy named Joe at the table next to us overheard our conversation and shared a secret he learned from a waiter named Blair. He said that if you get it cooked at least medium, all the sweet flavor from the marinade boils off and you are left with a delicious, savory, rock salted hunk of prime rib deliciousness. This faithful meat emissary even offered me a small sample of his prime rib that had just arrived at the table. One bite and I was sold!! If you learn nothing else in this life, get the prime rib at Cabernet! You will thank me for it!!! A great tip is to ask for it whole rather than sliced, as it is much more flavorful and enjoyable. And that brings us to some of the bad. Not only did my server almost cause me to miss out on the prime rib, but he was also MIA for most of the evening. Although extremely nice, he was nowhere to be found. Even after our food was served, he never bothered to come back and check up on us! Fortunately, Blair came to the rescue again as he happened to be waiting on the table next to us. He picked up the slack and took great care of us. Ask for Blair!!! Here's "the ugly". My wife and a friend both ordered the salmon and wanted it cooked medium. At first, they drastically overcooked it, and so they sent it back. Unfortunately, it returned so raw it was sushi grade!! Jason, the manager, was very accommodating and offered to bring them anything else on the menu. However, the whole ordeal had worn them out. Tasting the raw salmon literally and figuratively left a bad taste in their mouth, and they opted to get nothing. Needless to say, we were not charged for the salmon entree's. In addition, we were both offered gift certificates and one of the items was comped. Jason was very kind and tried to do everything in his power to rectify the situation. One of the girls who ordered the salmon mentioned that she has never had this problem in the past. Back to the good stuff. I'm all about the sides. And some of these sides were delicious. The huge onion rings, mashed potatoes, mushrooms, and french fries were all on point. In addition, the appetizer salads were delicious. In addition, my friends sea bass was cooked to perfection. Despite the hiccups, I can see that this place has plenty of "good" to offer. And even though the service and salmon didn't quite make the grade tonight, any place can have a bad night. I would love to see this place on a good night. I'll keep you posted, as another visit is definitely warranted. Til then, I hope to see that prime rib again in my dreams... read more

I have been wanting to go to Cabernet for a while but somehow it only happened a few days ago. I am not so impressed unfortunately and based on the reviews I am reading I feel that it was just not our lucky day. Sat a the bar with my husband and a friend. The bartenders are very professional and attentive. What I am not so happy about is the food. I asked for a filet mignon rare and instead I got it cooked medium. Very dry. They asked me if I wanted them to make another one and I should have let them. My husband ordered the wedge salad as he was not so hungry. It was watery and came with a bloody steak as he was never told it came with meat nor asked how he wanted it cooked. They took the meat and put it back on the flat top but his plate was still full of blood which is such a turn off. Finally our friend got the ribeye and obviously he was not so pleased either as he left half of it. Will need to go back and try to dine at a table to see if it gets better. Ordered Moscow Mules. My first one tasted like Sprite. The second one was just ok. The wine list is pretty long though from a nice place like Cabernet I would expect a better Italian sparkling white selection. I've been enjoying Cabernet for years. Always taken care of. Great atmosphere, great food. Tonight was not so great. I met my relatives for dinner and a birthday celebration. For some reason we had several different servers attend our table which seemed to cause a real breakdown in communication. Servers would come and go so quickly that my Father had a difficult time conveying his need or desire. I should say that his favorite server was off this evening unfortunately. To add the wedge salad I ordered came out as mostly the hard base and core of the head of lettuce. Half of it was not edible and the rest had the consistency of raw cabbage. I also ordered the escargot. Delicious. The only issue was that they now serve it in two tiny ceramic cups that my fork didn't really fit. I'm pretty sure this dish should be accompanied with a small fork. Correct me if I'm wrong. First time I've received sub par service here. I hope just a fluke! read more

This was literally the worst fine dining experience I have had ever. My FIL brought me here for my birthday celebration and I was excited because me and my husband love trying new restaurants. My husband and I ordered creamed spinach, the twice baked potato, and the herb crusted ribeye. For an appetizer we ordered the seafood sampler and the lamb lollipops. For dessert we got the creme brûlée. I was literally underwhelmed by everything we ordered. The creamed spinach was super bland, it literally had no flavor! The twice baked potato came out raw in the middle. We mentioned this to our server so they did remake it, but by the time it came out we were done with our meal. The biggest disappointment of all was the steak. Considering it was a signature item I expected it to be phenomenal and it WASN'T. I have had better steaks at Outback. The steak was flavorless with big strips of inedible fat and it was veiny. My husband was literally dissecting it to cut out the veins and fat then then salting each bite before he ate it. It literally sucked. The seafood sampler came out cold and flavorless. The best thing on that plate was the crab cake. Lamb lollipops were also flavorless. I enjoyed the crab cake, my dessert, and my drink. This was the furthest thing from a fine dining experience in my opinion. I will not be back. read more

K ordered a bone In Ribeye medium well and he said it was 7/10, but the waiter told him it would have been even better cooked medium. He liked the au gratin potatoes but I like baked potatoes more, except the one I got here was not hot so the butter & sour cream didn't melt in. The crab cake is good. The lobster bisque is decent...it has a strong taste but I like it fine. The caesar salad was surprisingly good. The last time l came, I had a wedge salad and didn't like the blue cheese or ranch on the side that I asked for. The cheesecake was light and tasty. The chocolate dessert with ice cream was too chocolatey to me. It didn't taste like a cake, moreso like melted chocolate candy. K didn't love his dirty martini. He said it had too much vodka in it and he didn't like the olives having pimientos in them. Our friends said their drinks were a little strong as well. I'm constantly impressed with Cabernet. We've eaten there many times, for many special occasions, and on regular nights, with no occasions at all. Steaks here are the best around, by far. If it's not cooked exactly the way you want it, they will do it again, and I appreciate that! Their creamed spinach is second to none. Also, the service super professional and that's pretty rare these days. The Pre-fix menu and half price wine lists are pretty awesome too. You can find some great deals on there if you know what you're looking for. One last thing.... don't sleep on LUNCH. They make a Reuben that can be eaten for 2 days. No joke LOL read more

I came here for a private holiday event and it was fabulous! This was the second year at Cabernet and everyone had a wonderful time. The food was spectacular but what impressed me the most was the service. Our head server (sadly I forget his name) was outstanding - he went over all of the specials and recommended some of his favorites + wine pairings. It was clear he was one of the best in the business. The servers remembered all of our drink orders and were on top of our requests. We especially loved the seafood tower, Prime Porterhouse, the grouper with scallop dumplings, and the pan seared sea bass. For sides, I recommend the sauteed mushrooms, onion rings and mashed potatoes. We were too stuffed for dessert but the options looked awesome! This is the perfect place for a celebration or when you're looking to drop a good amount of $$$ on a fancy date. read more

Went for a birthday celebration and everything was perfect.....except the prices. Everything is a' la cart. The filet looked awfully lonely on the plate...with only a couple of spinach leaves. I ordered a "loaded baked potato " as a side....it was huge-and so was the price. The potato itself was $8.00 and then there was a $2.00 charge for the "loaded". Good morning I had dinner with my daughter on September 24, 2021. I haven't eaten your establishment in a few years just because the service has always been horrible. Not much has changed. I made a reservation saying it was my daughter's 17th birthday. Our reservation was for at 8:15. The hostess is very polite, sat us very quickly. It was approximately 10 to 15 minutes before the table was greeted. I had to ask the server for a wine list. I ordered a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. I ordered the house special soup. It was very delicious. I completed my soup and my wine still hadn't been presented to the table. We proceeded to order two steaks and three sides. The service front waiter and back waiter were not visible. I would say the restaurant was probably only 25% capacity. Server returned to ask us what was our third side dish and I repeated to tell him for 2nd time onion rings. I had to ask another server to get my wine for me. The wine that was presented to the table was not the glass of wine I ordered. It was a glass of Riesling not Sauvignon Blanc. I had a flag another waiter down to return the wine. Our steaks were brought to the table by the food runner. No onion rings. We proceeded to eat halfway through our meal. I flag down our server to tell him that they were no onion rings. At this point I was very upset on how the service was being handled. The entire dinner I had to constantly keep asking other servers and other people to assist us. Dessert menus were never brought to the table. And I was hoping that my daughter would have a great 17th birthday experience and a nice fine dining restaurant in Alpharetta. Sometimes I feel like I don't always want have to drive to the city to get good service. For the price that we paid to eat there I would think that the service would've been a little more prestige.
