my experience was quite the rollercoaster. I initially had a less-than-ideal table in the bar area, which I take full responsibility for. The atmosphere felt a bit cramped, and I wasn't sure what to expect. However, luck was on my side when a beautiful garden table became available shortly after we arrived, completely transforming the evening. Once we were settled inside, the service started off a bit rocky. It took longer than expected to get our orders in and drink refills, which was frustrating at first. But I was pleasantly surprised when things turned around as we got our new table--the staff became attentive and helpful, making the rest of our time there much more enjoyable. Now, let's talk about the food! Everything we ordered was exceptional. The bread was warm and fresh, the tuna special was delightfully flavorful, and the pasta vongole was a highlight, perfectly cooked and seasoned. We also enjoyed delicious martinis and gin drinks that complemented our meal wonderfully. Bianca is truly a stunning restaurant for al fresco dining, offering a lovely atmosphere in the garden. We chose this restaurant to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. Couldn't be happier with our choice. While this is a white tablecloth kind of place, it's neither pretentious or stuffy. I had asked for a more private table in one of their alcoves and miraculously they were able to accommodate us. The restaurant itself is in a beautiful old home and that adds a certain ambiance to the meal. We were seated right away and the hostess had been made aware of our special occasion. Our server - Ale - was excellent. She took really good care of us while still exhibiting a wry sense of humor. The food was delicious. In fact, every aspect of our evening was perfect. I came here 2 times in mid September. Monday, all was perfect! Beautiful table on veranda overlooking the lovely garden encased seating and lovely canopy. Waiter was on point. Great suggestions, samples, bread kept coming and wine flowing. Friday- no no no. Awful corner veranda table with limited view and awkward back to others, which bothers me. Waiter slow, not helpful, barely saw him. Had to refill our own wine glasses and beg for more bread. Same dish looked completely differwnt in portion and almost burned... awful. First off this is one of the most visually beautiful settings in all of SR - the courtyard is romantic and lush with nice lighting and lots of greenery; tables are also spaced out well distanced from each other. The small indoor bar and dining room are equally charming and quiet. I'll come back here again just for the ambiance...but the food has room for improvement. We had the beet carpaccio salad, a Caesar, the butternut squash ravioli and the pasta funghi; while the portions were generous for the price and the pasta was cooked to the perfect finish everything we had just tasted a bit bland. I heard good things about Ca Bianca for years and planned a bday dinner for my wife with another couple; though the ambiance is nice and service was good, the food was mediocre. The primary flavor is my pasta Bolognese was salt and my wife's mushroom pasta was so bland even adding salt didn't help. One friend had a shrimp dish which he liked and the other had ravioli which was almost tasteless (I tried it). Fortunately the chocolate dessert made my wife happy. She's generally easy to please and enjoys food so for her not to eat most of her pasta is saying something. I really expected to like this place and wanted to enjoy it but when you're paying $240 for 4 people to have dinner and thinking, "I could cook better food myself," that's not good. I felt the quality of the ingredients was really low - the meat in the Bolognese seemed cheap and afterward I had that bleh feeling you get when eating poor quality food. We scheduled dinner here Sunday for our Father's Day but due to travel situations we had to reschedule. So we came tonight. And Jorge was our server. We ordered our drinks, a salad appetizer, and our entrees. That was basically the last time we saw our sever. My father was never offered pepper for his salad, tables around us were. After our entrees were dropped we were never checked on. My father was never brought a knife so he didn't consume all of his meal. While the pastas were DELICIOUS our drinks were never refilled. I waited 22 minutes for Jorge to return to our table. At the top of that time we WANTED another round of drinks and deserts. We were, after all, celebrating Father's Day. I love gnocchi and set it as a mission to try it at any new Italian restaurant we visit. Gnocchi - 6/10 I really like the fact they have gnocchi was a appetizer. But unfortunately the gnocchi was heavy and lumpy. Gnocchi I prefer is and delicate, with a silky-smooth texture. The sauce was done well though. Vongole - 7.5/10 My wife enjoyed her vongole dish. The sauce was light and not too garlicky. Some of the clams were very tasty, but some didn't taste as fresh. She also likes to have chopped clams in the sauce, but the clams only came in the shell. Rigatoni - 7/10 This was the dish that I was most disappointed by. I had such high expectations after see all the pictures of the dish. It looked fantastic when it arrived but the taste didn't match. He checked on us frequently & ensured everything was prepared to our liking. To start, my husband & I split an order of their carbonara, it was creamy & flavorful & a perfect starter to share between two people. For the main entree I ordered out of my comfort zone & chose the lamb, it was cooked perfectly & the flavor was spot on. To drink we ordered a bottle of Rombauer, their Cabernet, I'm usually not a fan of reds but this cab was delicious & it paired perfectly with my Lamb. I can't believe we have never been here before! We were looking for a celebratory birthday spot and this hit the mark. The location is beautiful! We sat outside on a fabulous wraparound porch in the garden. The food was delicious. My hubby got the filet and I had the fettuccine bolognese. Everything was delicious. The service was impeccable. My only complaint is with the dessert (which was not good), I forgot to take a picture of it. The creme brûlée was bad.. It was overcooked and eggy and not crispy on top. We didn't need a refund but the waiter didn't seem to even notice we ate none of it. Everything else was delicious, we will be back to try more for sure. read more

One of the best Italian dinners I've ever experienced this side of Tuscany. The decor, is perhaps a bit dated, the food, service and value however top-notch. White table cloth dining and service, the entire service team on the night of my dining was excellent, smart, attentive and focused. The menu is concise and on point, with daily Chef's selections as options off the set faire. For appetizers, the buratta a traditional representation, rich mozzarella, over a bed of arrugula and cherry tomatoes with Prosciutto di Parma sliced paper thin - simple ingredients and sublime flavors. Also the gnocchi, wow is all I can say, these house made potato pillows are floating in a sea of gorgonzola sauce thats out of this world. If you like gorgonzola this is a must try. If you like gnocchis this is a must try. The main couse, the chefs fish special for the evening, fresh pacific Halibut, simpy wonderful. A beautiful portion of fish cooked to perfection served with potatoes and veggies with artichokes and capers (very reminiscent of a Jeruselum style) this was an excellent choice for dinner. Fresh, flavorful and well prepared. The Ravioli stuffed with roasted duck, and served with red cabbage and a black truffle reduction, another standout. These ravis were made fresh to order and stuffed with succulent duck, cooked beautifully and smothered in a black truffle reduction and covered with red cabbage - an amazing combination of flavors, textures and filings. Another great choice. The libations selection is extensive as well, a great wine list, signature cocktails as well as a nice offering of beers and brews, dessert drinks, coffees and a wide range of ages of ports - the 20 year old tawny I had on my visit was sublime. A dessert menu as well, the chocolate flourless torte was divine rich, creamy and full bodied - a winner in any cocoa lovers books. This was a great choice for a pre-thanksgiving non traditional meal. So good in fact I plan to return just to try them again. Made a Valentines Day reservation for myself and my wife. First off, parking wasn't too bad. They have a designated parking lot next to the restaurant. As you walk through the front, there is a gorgeous display of flowers, blooming trees, water fountains, and strings of lights, which made the evening feel even more romantic. When we walked in, it's like walking into the front door of someone's house. It's a tiny space with no real place to wait. We awkwardly stood there with about three other couples waiting to check in. The woman at the front must have been frazzled because of the holiday or something because she didn't greet anyone or get their names, she just simply started calling names out like at a doctors office. We were seated in a beautiful, dimly lit room that was perfect for the occasion. There was a candle and a rose already placed at our table. The server came over promptly and took our drink orders and brought some bread to the table. He was very attentive and on top of it the entire night, always checking in with us. Now for the good part: the food. To start, I had a Caesar salad which was traditionally prepared. It comes with anchovies on top, but it's ok to ask for them to be left off. My wife ordered the shrimp and calamari and loved it. For the main course, I ordered the Bisteca which is a huge porter house steak with vegetables and potatoes. Steak was cooked perfectly, and the mushroom and onion reduction added a great flavor to the dish. My wife ordered the rack of lamb, and was pleasantly surprised that it was not as gamey tasting as some other places we've been too. Again, perfectly cooked and delicious. For dessert, we split the cannoli and the panna cotta. The Cannoli tasted freshly made and was dusted with pistachios. The vanilla bean panna cotta was light and flavorful. Both were excellent, and I highly recommend. I'm glad we decided to check out this hidden gem and try something new. We came here without reservations for Dinner before a show at LBC. They were able to seat us at a high top in the tiny bar area, which was fine by us. I will definitely make reservations next time as I mistakenly assumed they would not be busy on a midweek night. The outside grounds are filled with beautiful garden areas. The inside decor is charming and romantic. Service was very professional and attentive. We ordered two cocktails that were very well prepared. They have a very nice wine list, but we paid corkage for our bottle brought from our home cellar, which at this time the fee is 25.00. We ordered the gnocchi appetizer, which really was the standout of our meal here. Soft pillows of spinach gnocchi in a gorgonzola cream sauce. Totally yum! This alone earned a star upgrade. The honey ordered the filet and I ordered the lamb chops. While the meat entrees were both perfectly prepared, the side accompaniments left much to be desired. Both dishes came with undercooked roast potatoes and undercooked mixed vegetables. Very disappointing, as a little more attention to making the sides more palatable would easily have made this a five star review. For dessert we shared the creme brule. It was not correctly caramelized on top, actually, that part was a total fail on this dessert. Again, something that a little attention to detail would have eliminated the disappointment. So, in Summary, I wrestled between a three star ok rating and a four star good rating. I settled on the four stars due to the beautiful grounds and interior, the service, those heavenly gnocchi and our proteins being perfectly prepared. We tried Ca Bianca for Taylor's birthday dinner, and overall it was a really nice evening. We were seated on time in their charming garden dining area, and felt like we had the place to ourselves. They fired up the space heaters making a cozy and romantic nook. My only critique is the lighting could have been better; it's a pet peeve of mine, especially during a nice meal. Food and drinks were great. Started with cocktails and minestrone soup and Caesar salad. The gnocchi was outstanding! Without question, the best I've ever had. The texture was so delicate and flavorful, and I could seriously drink the delicious Gorgonzola sauce! We also tried the steak special and Carbonara for the entrees and enjoyed both. There were a few timing snafus, and I wasn't thrilled that they didn't acknowledge Taylor's birthday at all, but it happens. We will definitely be back again, likely for a relaxed lunch or maybe some fancy takeout. Reservations are highly recommended and parking is limited in their private lot, but there's plenty of public parking nearby. read more
