Its a shed with a bathroom. #46 The nightmare started when I called to rent a cabin at the Tulip location. Unbeknown to me, the person on the phone shifted my rental to another location. (Cabins 4 less -the umbrella for 4-5 locations.) They were supposed to send pictures of the cabin and never did. The alarm should have gone off right then that something was amiss. I arrived the day of my reservation and found that the shed, i mean cabin, was not what I was told it was and that it would not meet my needs. I looked at #41 and that was just as bad, as it had a tub/spa in the middle of what was the living room area. Although I arrived after the check in time, the shed, I mean cabin, had not been what they call "cleaned" or ready to be rented. As I watched them "clean" the shed, I realized that they do NOT change the blanket on the bed but reuse it from person to person-without being washed!!!! How gross is that!! The place was small (~150 sq ft), it looked like it was a converted shed that was falling apart. The furniture looked like rejects from goodwill. 1960's headboard that was larger than the full size bed that was supposed to be a queen. The carpet looked like it came from a 1950's fire sale. The doors didn't close right. nothing matched. It was a hodge-podge of junk (not "rustic"). I was so disgusted I didn't stay.- which changed my whole holiday weekend. buyer beware. I should have visited yelp before renting this shed. One star is quite generous This place is only suitable to be rented by the hour- Not by the day! read more

I have no idea why there are such bad reviews for this business. One of two things are happening here...either #1. the owners have done major upgrades since these people left, or #2. these people are prissy ass So-Californians. I booked here despite the bad reviews. The price was totally worth it, and our cabin (31) was a large studio, king bed, cozy, comfy, and had everything we needed. Exceeded my expectations. Everything worked, hot water in seconds, wi-fi, full cable, tv would swivel so you could watch it from bed or living room, new windows on the place with screens, full kitchen, normal sized fridge, pots/pans, dishes, charcoal bbq, picnic table, nice reclining chair that my husband enjoyed. They are really pet friendly which I appreciate since our dogs are like kids to us. They will rent you kayaks for 5 bucks that you can take your dog on. You can check out DVD's in the office for free. The family is so nice, and really want you to have a great stay. I loved staying in our cabin. It's like having your own free-standing home, so private and quiet. Bring your own sheets and bathroom towels. I actually prefer this, and we ended up bringing our own comforter too. Don't expect a hotel. Expect a high end camping trip. Only Cons: there is a bathtub, but you can't really take a bath since the water only comes out of the shower head (would take forever to fill it)--I don't take baths so no biggie to me. They need a new cable to the TV because there are a few lines that run through the picture--still watchable but not perfect. (TV picture is fine while watching DVDs) I would suggest a curtain be hung on the front door over the privacy glass due to the glare of the porch light at night. I'm picky about light when im sleeping though. I don't think the toilet has a perfect seal because once in a while you get a mild sewer smell for a few moments....we kept the bathroom window open and the door closed. High end camping. We went here for Christmas, and figured we'd share the experience. I *think* our unit for the first night was 55 - it was in the old "Edgewater Acres" or whatever it was called. When we pulled in, we had NO IDEA the morning view would be so beautiful. The room was a nice size, and there was a jacuzzi within! The only really bad thing about the jacuzzi - I assume it was a result of the jacuzzi - is it left the room with a little bit of a musty smell. We decided upon getting to Big Bear that we'd stay for an additional night and unfortunately, cabin 55 was already taken for the night of the 25th. The folks at the office - who were friendly - gave us one of the units that was near "downtown," which was a genuine cabin. It was quite small. I'd like to say it was "cabin 44" but can't say for sure. At first it was cold, but we were shown how the heat worked so that issue was fixed. The bathroom in 44 was kind of run-down, and I even saw a spider web in there, but again, it's called "Cabins 4 Less," I wasn't expecting a five-star hotel. Speaking of bathrooms, the bathroom in 55 was perfectly fine although the toilet made big shaking noises. It still works. Going back to 44 or whichever the second one was, the best part was the location. You were literally steps from downtown, restaurants, and shops, and being Christmas it was pretty beautiful and decorated. Thankfully, there was even a place with hot chocolate nearby! The way I judge a place is "would I stay here again?" Especially in the case of Cabin 55, the answer is "sure!" It's affordable, the people were nice, the cabins were quiet. Just know what you're getting into here... I'm sure it's not for everyone, but it was nice enough for me. Oh, and WiFi! Anyone who sees my reviews of other accommodations knows WiFi is a big deal to me. And here, it works, and it works well. The larger unit (55) also had a DVD player. Both rooms had cable with lots of channels to watch on the TV. Edited to add that part of why we picked this place was because it is pet-friendly, and our dog LOVED it here. I think she preferred the running around space of the larger unit, but in any event, there were lots of places for her to walk and play and see other dogs, too. Finding a pet-friendly resort was a BIG reason we chose Cabins4Less to begin with, so I appreciated that, and even with dogs being allowed, I didn't hear any annoying noise from others with pets, so I guess the clientele is good and brings decently behaved pets along. read more

I'm giving two stars because of the description yelp gives off 2 stars: meh. I've experienced better. We stayed in cabin 15 - three of us. Two slept in the queen bed in the bedroom and I slept on the day bed in the living room. Both beds are incredibly mushy - way too soft, there is no support. We all woke up with bachaches. We had no idea that towels and bedding are not provided until 6:30 the morning of our departure. It wasn't in the initial confirmation email, nor is it prevalently displayed on their webpage. Luckily, our friend who booked the cabin checked her email before we left our hometown and saw the email stating, "Don't forget to bring towels and sheets." Otherwise we'd have been out of luck. Now, for a place that doesn't provide linens, requires you to clean all dishes and put everything back where you found it (including remote controls for the tv), and doesn't have housekeeping tidy up while you're out for the day, I find it pretty surprising that they have an envelope out to tip housekeeping. I typically tip housekeeping, but that's when I'm staying in a place that freshens the room. We have to do it all ourselves and bring our own supplies? Uh, no. There is no full size or half size mirror in the room, only the medicine cabinet in the bathroom. Us ladies need bigger mirrors. The couch cushions smell like mice. Pros: near good restaurants and a short walk down to Boulder Bay Park. Kitchenette, so you can make your own food while you stay. We made our own breakfasts and lunches and ate dinner out. No key needed - it's a key code door. The staff is nice - we haven't had to ask for anything, but just visiting with them outside in the parking lot, they seem like nice people. The cons outweigh the pros for us. I don't think we'll be back. read more

If I could give ZERO stars, I would. The owner of this place is shady. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone. We did not stay here, but did book a reservation for 2 nights but had to cancel it. They already took out 1 night stay. We requested a cancellation with 2 hours of booking the reservation, via email and text. The next morning, the owner responded with 2 options. We can accept a voucher to be applied at a later date, or we can get a refund MINUS $29 refund fee. Wait. WHAT? What is a REFUND FEE? We read the email confirmation over 3 times, especially the cancellation policy. We even went on their website to read their cancellation fee. NOWHERE in either documents do they disclose that a $29 refund fee would be charged if you cancel. Our reservation was made 10 days in advance, that is PLENTY of time to cancel. We spoke to the owner, and he basically said he was "being nice and offered the $29 fee as an option", as he did not have to refund anything. If you plan on charging a refund fee, YOU NEED TO DISCLOSE that. Based off all these reviews and my experience, you couldn't pay me to stay here. Stay at your own risk. read more

Cute cabins (cabin #1)they have the necessities and are very clean. Our bed in the master was quite uncomfortable - a sleep number that did not work. The mattress was covered in a plastic cover for protection , unfortunately our sheets would not stay on because of it... It felt like I would slide off with the slightest move. I let my boyfriend have the bed to himself & slept on the futon with my kiddo - much more comfortable. I would stay there again but next time we will get a larger cabin - there were 3 of us and my small dog & we were bumping into and stepping on one another the whole time- so we just hung out on the swing out front - sooooo nice & lots of shade. I recommend bringing food and grilling out ... That was fun & we met some nice people staying in the cabin next door. 3 stars from me ... Mostly because I'd rather stay at a resort that has room service & a maid - but definitely a budget friendly place ,with what you need , in a very nice location! read more

I read around a lot before deciding on which cabin Co to go with. My Lil family was getting away for the weekend and we didn't want to spend too much so our expectations of a perfect place where not present. I ended up going with cabins4less because 1. Their cost compared to others 2. There were no damn ridiculous cleaning costs 3. It's location. When we got to the place it was about 8:30 am and check in was til 2pm but since the cabin was free they let us check in asap. Super kuddos for that. They let us know where our cabin was and when we got there it was exactly that a Lil wooden cabin. I didn't like that they had piled up all the snow from the driveway right in front of our cabin made it look dirty. When I walked into the cabin it was so cold and smelled of gas. No bueno. I ended up opening up all the windows and started setting up our stuff. If you bring your own blankets, sheets, towels they don't charge you extra to use theirs (although it's only 5 bucks) but I just feel better using my own stuff anywhere I go. Anyhow after about an hr the smell went away got to close the windows turn on the heat and the place transformed into a super comfy spot. Although I wouldn't rent this particular cabin again (cabin #3) I would definitely go through this company again. Keep in mind that these places are exactly what they claim cabins. If you are hoping for the comforts of a hotel then I suggest you look for one. FYI I wouldn't rent this cabin again because it's restroom. The toilet is tilted and the shower is prob like 3'x2'×7'. My bf is 6'+ and he was so uncomfortable showering in such a small spot. I've seen small showers but this one definitely tops it. read more

Location and accessibility is great. But for 100 bucks a night you get what you pay for. The bed was disgusting. It was covered with plastic and the sleepnumber didn't even work. Aside from that there was dirt, old bottles, and a bottle of baby oil left underneath and around the bedroom. No one had cleaned it in ages. And when I say dirt I mean MOUNDS of disgusting debris left over a long period of time. Yikes... There are other cabins in the area maybe check those out first. read more

My friends and I came to Big Bear without knowing which hotel/cabin to stay in. It was around 11 pm when we got here, and most of the hotels and cabins were closed. We called this place, asked for a price, and decided to come here. For a 3 bedroom cabin for 5 people, it was $159 with tax. The cabins aren't all located by the office. Our cabin was about a mile away from the office, but we didn't mind. One of the bedrooms had bunk beds. The light in that room didn't work. Only one of the showers actually worked. The faulty shower only gave water for like 2 minutes. Other than that , the cabins were good. read more

Stayed in cabin 25. It has a really musky smell and we were supplied with one roll of super thin toilet paper. The area is quiet but the floors were sticky and in general the place wasn't very clean. I know the cabins are cleaned by the people who stayed there but that is not enough. Parts of the walls on the bathroom were missing. You definitely kind of get what you pay for. read more

We stayed in cabin #42. Bring your own sheets and towels - as advertised, they do not provide them. Pro: location - right next to the Village, and a short walk to the marinas. There is a microwave, a coffee maker, a mini-fridge and a charcoal barbecue outside. The cabin is free-standing, no shared walls with other guests. The TV does have cable, however the HDMI cord does not work, we had to plug in the AV cord instead. Con: the thermostat was broken - heat was stuck on all day and night in June. There is no AC, only a ceiling fan that doesn't seem to help much. When we turned on the jacuzzi a bunch of brown/black debris came out of the jets, gross. Obviously did not get in after that. There is no screen on the window, unfortunate when the only way to cool down the overheated cabin is to open the window. There is a broken/loose tile in the floor. There is no kitchen or kitchen supplies as advertised. We would not ever stay in this particular cabin again. read more

We wanted to take our family up to the mountains for a mini vacation. We needed one that was pet friendly and found Cabins4Less on Amazon daily deal. I missed the deadline for the Amazon deal so I booked through them directly and still saved $$. I saw the photos of the cabin and thought it looked nice so I booked. We've rented cabins before and we know that it is hit or miss with some of these places. You get what you pay for. My kids found a few negative reviews about Cabins4less 3 days before we were supposed to arrive. Specifically for the one we booked and of course we were all freaking out. I contacted the office IMMEDIATELY and asked them about it, voicing our concerns. They said they would look into the allegations and get back to me. True to their word, they got back to me in a timely manner and assured me that our cabin would meet our expectations. We were skeptical but were willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. When we got to the cabin, we tore that place apart. Stripped the bed, flipped the mattresses, magnifying glass and all on the hunt for anything creepy. The beds and sofa/futon sleeper were clean and free of any unwanted guests. What a relief. To say that it was pristine or perfect would not be accurate because whomever it is that they have hired to clean isn't doing a very good job. There were tissues under the sofa, spider webs in the corners, debris had fallen behind the sink in the bathroom. Not a broom or dust pan to be found. The kitchen was old and grimy. Fortunately we had no plans to cook and I brought my own paper products so I wouldn't have to use their stuff as past experience with other rentals taught me to come prepared. The bottom line is this, the cabins are old, small, dingy and furnished thusly. Not quite as bad as the one in the movie "deliverance" but this is not a 5 star resort either. Cabins are supposed to be rustic, eclectic and have character. This place fits the bill. They should be cleaner, bug free and comfortable. It isn't always the case. I'm giving this an A-ok rating because the office staff and Ron were very friendly. Our cabin wasn't perfect but it worked for our family. It was an adventure, the place had character and character flaws but all in all we had a good time. We are happy to say that we didn't get bitten or bring home any unwanted visitors. THANK GOD! The place is called Cabins4Less because they are less expensive than most and pet friendly with no restrictions as to what type of dog you have. I plan to book with them again should the opportunity come up for another mountain vacation. read more

My mother, sister, and myself came across a groupon $15 for two hour-two person kayak; sounds great. Well, we bought two of those because there are three of us, so once we got there we showed the voucher and code. Everything went well and she even offered that we can get a single kayak, because I was going by myself. That lady was pleasant (I didn't catch her name). We have to get our life jackets and when I asked them a question the lady and one young man didn't even answer me. They just looked at me and laughed. RUDE. Anyway, the other gentleman(I didn't even get his name was very helpful, friendly, and actually could carry a conversation). The sucky part about getting the kayaks is that we had to carry them down a hill on a two wheeler, but very inconvenient. Luckily, the friendly gentleman was kind enough to help us bring them down. My sister is 12 and in no way could bring them both down herself, I am pregnant, and my mother has a broken foot and in a walking boot. So we go out and have an amazing time! Now, time to come back and the same guy helps us bring them up. Then, the staff inside when we got back was pretty rude and weird. They made us wait for no reason, didn't even talk to us, and were just really awkward. They were kind of creepy in my opinion. If it weren't for the first lady that helped us or the second gentleman, I would never return even with the good deals on groupon. The three stars were for the two "nice" employees. It wouldn't hurt to give it a shot though! Won't hurt. read more

We did the dishes, we swept, we even made the beds, and we have never been charged at other places where we stay in cabins. Our cabin with Cabins4less was better than expected! Spacious and fantastic location. There were 6 of us altogether (3 couples) and each couple got our own bed. It worked perfectly. There was also a spare bunk bed no one was using. Just remember to bring your own pillowcases/sheets. Walking distance from a cute antique shop and a great diner. Ron was so helpful and friendly. He supplied us with tips and suggestions on what to do while we were up there. HIGHLY recommended. We will definitely use Cabins4less next time we are in Big Bear. read more

It was my first time visiting Big Bear with my friends. I used groupon and got a great deal on cabin 4 less. I got an amazing customer service through out my stay at Cabin 4 Less. It was also nice to check in early on the arrival day. The cabin we stayed (#51) was really clean and neat. We brought our own sheets, pillowcases, and blankets just in case of the cold weather. Water temperature was a bit sensitive but didn't cause any big problem. I would definitely recommend this place to my friends. read more

Just returned from a 2 night stay. Pros: - friendly and helpful owners, who came to fix things ASAP (a con? There were things that needed fixing ASAP). - pretty clean and comfortable - very quiet - close to village and Boulder Bay - had all the basics for decent price (I wasn't looking for luxury) Cons: - I had reserved a particular cabin with the amenities I was after. I got a call en route to Big Bear and was told that cabin was no longer available, so I could choose from 2 other cabins that weren't quite what I was looking for in either case. I picked one. When I got there, I was given directions to the cabin (it was about 2 - 3 miles from the office) and got there to find they had sent me to the one I had not chosen (one with no kitchen at all, which didn't work since I had all kinds of groceries packed). It worked out - they gave me a bigger cabin with a good-sized kitchen, but it had no jacuzzi tub, which I had been looking forward to. I'm sure it would have been a more expensive rental, though, and I wasn't charged extra. - Heater was far too powerful - Smoke detector started beeping - Kitchen smelled strongly of gas and 2 burners didn't work. Again, all of this was fixed easily and not a huge deal, but I felt bad having to call the office 4 times within less than 48 hours for help. All in all, very decent place. From my experience, Big Bear doesn't have fantastic lodging, so this place seems very within the scope, and priced decently. read more

We just spent a night at cabin #5. It was a nice, small cottage with a kitchen that includes a small table with two chairs, fireplace, shower/toilet, and a sitting area. It had a nice outside area in the back with a small bbq and in front of the cottage, a swing and two chairs. As we only stayed one night we did not have a chance to try out all that was provided. We had paid the extra $5 for the linens and towels and they were very clean. The plastic cover on the mattress was a turn off for me but I was not bothered by it while sleeping. We had taken our comforter because we thought it might get very cold at night, so did not use the provided comforter that seemed well-worn. Speaking of which... the cottage was reasonably clean, but because of its age, seems not to be so. The whole thing needs to be updated, including the paint, window coverings (they really are not curtains!), carpets, and the bedcovers. I do realize it is rustic and don't expect a four star hotel polish, but even updating the colors and pictures would go a long way in joining this century. The service was great. I got confirmations as soon as I booked our room. They even sent updated road condition reports (NO SNOW message was a little funny in the middle of the summer, but I appreciate it all the same). We checked in with no trouble. We were told because we had stayed with them before, and our dog had not caused any damage or extra cleaning, we would not be charged the very-reasonable-anyway pet fee of $9 this time. On top of that, as returning guests, we would have 5% discount next time we reserved a room. They did not have to refund the dog fee, but they did anyway and I really appreciate that. After checking in our room just as we were leaving to go for dinner, the door lock came apart. I called the office and within minutes someone came and repaired the lock. You don't get that kind of service everywhere. :) Our last cabin #46 was closer to town and we were able to just walk to stores and restaurants. From cabin #5 a short drive is needed to go anywhere. Not a big deal if you are going to drive to the slopes, but it was nice to be close to the action from our previous cottage. All in all, it was a comfortable, relaxing stay for us, including our dog. Very reasonable prices. We are already planning on going back. read more

I stayed at one of their cabins this weekend and the cabin was really nice. It had a nice living room. Kitchen with microwave,stove, refrigerator, and sink. 2 restrooms and 1/2. It had two bedrooms but upon further investigating the house found out it had more beds and bunk beds! Up in the loft it had foosball table and a ping pong table. Also on the loft you have a nice little table which you can sit at and relax. In the loft you find a balcony with a good view of Big Bear Lake. My overall stay here was the best. The people were so nice even wrote a note saying "We hope you enjoy your stay" i found that very sweet. If you want a nice and affordable place to stay you might wanna stay here. Exactly what we were hoping for. My girlfriend and I were up for a two night stay from Los Angeles celebrating my birthday. I was looking for a cabin out in the woods and found exactly that. Ok, so it wasn't out in the middle of the woods but it felt like it. It was in an area that was very close to a great area for hiking trails and conveniently located a few minutes from the Village of Big Bear. This was our first time to Big Bear and it won't be the last. It was also the first time staying at a Cabin4less property and it was a great experience. Great customer service and great experience. Three of us, one a 7-year-old who wanted to catch a fish, stayed in Cabin 3 for 4 nights. It had everything for a fun vacation - full kitchen, front patio with BBQs, cable TV, DVDs, short walk to Boulder Bay dock for fishing, bike riding - bicycles and fishing poles included - you can't beat that. They aren't fancy, but comfortable and fun. Ours had a fireplace but we didn't use it. I enjoyed our historic log cabin with wood floors and funky furnishings - lots more personality than a generic hotel room. read more
