Cancellation Policy Sham! Made a reservation (on Monday Dec. 19th) online for what I thought was for the following weekdays (Mon Dec 26th - Tues 27th) but then received a confirmation mail an hour later reserving me for the same day I booked (Mon Dec 19th - Tues Dec 20th). I immediately responded to the confirmation mail, as it says to do if there are errors with the reservation, but got no response. I tried contacting them again in the afternoon and still no response. The Cabins4less Cancellation Policy page states that same day cancellations for a 1 bedroom would be a $50 charge that would be applied to a future visit and that "Cancellation will be made by Email Only". However, when they finally called me back the next day (Tuesday Dec 20th) they claimed they never received my mails and that they would only cancel the second night and charge my credit card $100. The original charge for one night for the room I reserved was only $89 but they thought it was "fair" since "they had to turn a lot of people away since they couldn't rent out the room". Then why didn't they just call me? They had my contact information! And to add insult to injury that $100 charge would NOT be applied to a future visit as is promised within their Cancellation Policy. Needless to say I will never do business with them again. "We have a great policy - We do not want anyone to lose (you always get a credit towards another stay, with restriction)" Well I certainly did lose. read more

Stopped here when i was too tired to drive home. Stayed in cabin 41. Paid $99 with tax. Separate to the main site. Fantastic location right near town. No wifi when they said there was wifi. Linen was provided bed and couch were super uncomfortable. Big jacuzzi but it had the biggest spider I have ever seen in it. Something was running around in the roof all night. Basic but good bathroom. Decor is awful. Heater was on when I came in and had to sleep with all the windows open. Stay here if you want a good location and don't want to camp. Don't stay here if you want comfort or modern decor. Staff were helpful, if a little spacey. Will I stay here again? No. I'll spend an extra $30 and stay somewhere decent. read more

I bought a two-hour double kayak rental through Groupon worth $35, for $19. Let me tell you, even at $35, the price is absolutely worth every penny. The entire staff was friendly, helpful, and incredibly welcoming when getting everything set for our time on the lake. They went above and beyond the call of duty when they went to assist me in trying to find my phone that was plummeted to the bottom of the lake! Lol I'm grateful to the staff for a wonderful time, and cannot wait to return! read more

This was the worst experience EVER!! The cabin was disgusting!! There were dust balls in every corner and dog hair all over the floor. The stove top didn't light without having to use a match. The fridge froze all our food! The sheet on the futon was full of who knows what that caused my girls to itch and develop rashes on their legs. The sleep number bed didn't adjust on the left side of the bed. My husband didn't sleep well because of it, and because of the dust his allergies were irritated. The bedspread in the room had disgusting brown stains on it. We ended up going to Kmart to buy new sheets and towels. The TV in the bedroom had bad cable connections and we couldn't get the same channels that came in on the living room TV. We rented the cabin for 3 nights and checked out after the first night. We were emailed by Ron that the cabin was in "good condition" and they would not credit us anything. They offered a voucher with a paid night yet we never received a voucher. The only reason I'm giving one star is that I can't give zero. Save your money. There are plenty of very nice places in Big Bear to stay. We stayed in a cabin that was ridiculously small. There was no clear area to park, as the next door tenants brought 2 cars. The fireplace tools were broken, there weren't enough dishes to actually cook anything in the kitchen. The decor is awful. The jacuzzi wouldn't stay warm. The DVD player's sound didn't work. Ice all over the damn place- slipping all over the driveway and steps. Overall, I would try to find something built after 1900. I also forgot on my first pass of this review to mention that the management was confrontational when approached about a refund, and that I was charged $229 (w taxes) per night for this horrible place. read more

To all the reviewers who gave them bad reviews, I just have one thing to say...you should have known what you're getting into because the name says it all...cabins 4 less! Our visit was quite different but I will point out what a lot of people have said. Pros: *We stayed in Tulip Lane cabins #25 which is quaint, quiet and away from the village, exactly what we were looking for. *Cabins are BASIC... Expect just above camping. *For families, great location to local park for sledding. *Good space between neighbors. *Parking is okay just be aware 1 car per cabin is probably the best. *Free use of sleds, bikes (some with kid carriers!), kayaks. Cons: *Decor is less than desirable... It could use a makeover and simplify their theme...could look really cute. *Bathroom definitely needs a renovation but at least everything works. *Needs a heater in the bedroom. TIPS: 1.) bring an electric blanket if you have one.... Totally worth bringing. 2.) Don't forget matches, a roll of paper towels, a table cloth for the the picnic table outside, booties because it gets cold, a small vacuum. WOULD I STAY AGAIN: OF COURSE! Ron seems to bash every person who leaves a negative comment about his CABINS4LESS and I will not tolerate that abuse. I gave an honest, insightful and negative review of his cabins (aka Edgewater Apartments) based on my own experiences with my family. The Big Bear Cabins 4 Less are rundown, haven't been updated in years and need a deep cleaning, painting from staff. Ron appears to make an effort but it is long due for an overhaul. We stayed two nights in Cabin 13, December 16-18. Pros: 1) fireplace 2) gas furnace 3) nice owners 4) free Wifi Cons: 1) HORRIBLE NASTY DISGUSTING BATHROOM -- mold, holes, cracks 2) They're website says we can save $$ on water since they use well water. I took them at their word and tried to drink from the faucet only to find DIRT in my glass. DIRTY WATER OUT OF THE FAUCET. 3) uncomfortable and skeezy bed and pillows 4) Despite the furnace and fireplace, you will still freeze at night because all heat pours out the cheap paper-thin windows. 5) I didn't think TVs that small still existed 6) smallest cabin you've ever seen For $99/night, totally overpriced. We stayed in unit #71.  We got up the mtn. late on Friday night because of traffic so we couldn't see much when pulling up.  We did notice when we walked in that the carpet and furniture were extreamly out of date and dirty. My daughter would not sleep in the 2nd bedroom because she said it was creepy and the whole place looked like a horror movie.  We ended up taking the mattress off one of the twins bed and putting it our room so she could sleep.  We brought our own sheets and towels but the blankets provided looked dirty and worn (holes, stains, etc).  The bathroom was terrible! Carpet that smelled of mold and a shower that had mold and years and years of stains.  The water from the shower sits in the window seal and rotted all the wood.  The shower curtain was torn in multiple places and the shower head was so short I couldn't barely fit under it and I'm only 5'5".  After showering, the carpeted floor was soaking wet. I opened the window to get some fresh air but there was no screen on the window.  The bathroom seemed dark and then we noticed one of the lights didn't have a bulb in it.  We had to grab a bulb from the bedroom to have enough light in the bathroom.   The TV was already small but then only half of the screen worked so it was almost imposable to watch anything.  The couches were so dirty, the only way to sit on them was to put your sheets on them.  The kitchen wasn't usable at all.  There was no way I was going to cook on the stove when it was so close to the wall.  There were no hand towels or paper towels.  In order to use the cups or utensils, we had to rewash them because they were dirty. The patio was very dirty and the bench wasn't usable because it was broken and unstable.  The entire cabin was a disappointment and is not worth the amount charged (almost $400 for two nights).  I texted the number provided to explain these issues and was told at 9pm at night that we could leave for a refund for our second night.  We had plans the next day or we would have gone home.   Not only did we spend a lot of money but we weren't able to use the kitchen as we intended because it was not functional. I emailed the owner Ron and received one of the rudest, unprofessional emails I have ever gotten that basically said "we don't claim to be the Hilton". He said he would not issue any credits and to please not contact him again inregards to our stay. We paid $189 a night so I would expect at least 3 star accommodations. We rented cabin #18 for one night 12/26/12. We liked that it was really big, nice fireplace, Decor outdated. The service was friendly, family owned. The problem we experienced was that for paying $500 for 1 night, we expected full use of all the "amenities" advertised on the website. Unfortunately, the jacuzzi we paid extra for did not have working lights or jets. It's cover was 2 giant pieces of styrofoam. There was no ladder to climb up into it, so we had to hoist ourselves in the dark into it. We were advised on check out that we should have pulled the pinic table and benches over to it and used that to climb in. The supposed washer/dryer didn't work, didn't even have the right size knobs on it. We kinda feel like we got taken. Free sleds were nice, heater was good in addition to fireplace. Bring your own paper towels/napkins, towels, and bedding. Not provided. read more

First thing to take into consideration: This is not a hotel, a motel, resort, or b&b. Not in the slightest. Moving on. My husband and I love big bear. We use to stay in a family friend's cabin but we have two large breed dogs they didn't like having around. We basically just need a place to dump our gear, shower, and cook. Most of the time we're bumming around town or out on the lake. The first and only time I've been to cabins 4 less, I went with my mom whose disabled. We stayed in cabin #4. I chose this one because it had a fenced in "yard" which was great because my dogs like to take their time going to the bathroom. We went mid week during the off season so it was incredibly quiet, we were the only ones up there. They were doing construction on another cabin that was loud but we weren't around for long and they were gone before dark. Several things I noticed right off the bat. -Huge gaps underneath the doors. I'm weird about bugs but seriously this place had two inch gaps under the doors. I stuffed towels under them and tried to get over it. -The carpet underneath the bed in the bedroom was disgusting. Layers of dust and filth in a perfect rectangle under the bed. This is evident- why didn't they clean it? I don't get it. - The "stove" was just a stovetop set into the laminate countertop. The counter and wall were warped from the heat. WHOA fire hazard! WHOA. - A tunnel spider had made a nest in this place right next to the futon where I was sleeping. It would've been noticeable while they were cleaning, do they just not care? - The futon cushion slid off the frame. I slept on a section of the mattress that was about the size of an army cot. - No bath mats. Not that big of a deal but just so you know. No bath mats, just carpet, gross. - "Complete kitchen fully equipped for cooking and serving." Bull shit. I had to cut 4 lbs of potatoes with a steak knife with no handle. Bring your own knives. There's no oven. Wish I would've known that before I brought a whole chicken up to roast. Whatever, my mistake. There is dish soap but bring your own sponge and hand towel. The sponge was so nasty. - It's a galley kitchen in this cabin, and was very difficult for my mother to get in and out of. A table and fridge sit to the left and the sink and stovetop to the right. There is roughly 18 inches of space between the table and stovetop. - The cable tv you have has like, 12 channels. And it came over on the mayflower. - Everything is outdated and kind of creepy. I don't know about you but I don't drive 90 miles up the mountain to stare at a wall. So who cares. All of that being said: I just need a place to sock out and get clean. I never get much sleep away from home so all of those things I can deal with. I just need something a level above tent camping because it gets too cold for me. The positive aspects of this place outweigh the negatives. - There are supplies to cook with that you don't need to bring. Pots/pans/cups - Fireplace/heater, shower with hot water, indoor toilet - PET FRIENDLY. I'm so limited with what I can do with my dogs that are perfectly trained angels and over 40lbs. And you only pay the pet fee once. - They have cabins in 3 separate sections of big bear. Cabin #4 is by Boulder bay. This weekend I'll be staying in a different cabin just outside of the village for Ocktoberfest. - Free movies for rent and amenities in the office firewood, kayaks, bikes. - Fair price. Everything up the mountain is pricy and I'm not stingy all the time but I am on a budget. $99 is an ok price for a place where my dogs are welcome and I can cook my own food to save $$$. And no hidden fees! Just the nightly rate + tax. It would be cool if they had on site laundry for the smaller cabins and maybe a designated area for dogs for the cabins with no yards. I also think it would be convenient if they made more deals with local businesses to bring their prices down. I looked at another place in big bear that had deals for Ocktoberfest + lodging which would've been great if they were pet friendly and not already sold out. Another thing that baffles me are all of the negative reviews about having to transport & unload the kayaks. Hello. You're about to engage in strenuous activity maneuvering that kayak through the water and you're complaining about getting it there? BOOOOOOO. One of my favorite sayings goes, "Make do, or do without." We made do. May have taken 45 minutes to saw raw potatoes with a steak knife, but we did it! Overall it was a good spot for a quick weekend away. Not the cleanest or nicest, but overall decent. I'm pretty low maintenance when it comes to cabins though. I was in cabin 3! Very cute, full kitchen! Kayak rentals, bike rentals, lots of offers! Pros - cheap! Warm, cozy and okay cleanliness. Easy to get to for a quick weekend get away! Con - called 3 times and waited an hour for someone to look at the stove so we could make breakfast. The office is a 2 minute walk from the cabin...shouldn't have taken an hour. So, slow service. Fare warning the cabins are reallllly close together, hence the no loud noise it's a family place rule. Unfortunately even families suck at being quiet. we had kids screaming (I mean like bloody murder screaming) playing in front of the cabins at 9pm. I had to ask them to be quiet and the parents didn't do much about it. Not cabins 4 less fault, but just be aware these are close cabins, so you won't experience that quiet in the woods feeling if you have shitty neighbors. read more

Cabin #19: The staff were very friendly and the rates were good, but I would not stay here again. The cabin feels & smells dirty, and the sofa is full of animal dander. The bikes they rent for $2/hour are very old, rusty, and 90% of them were broken. There's a washer/dryer in the cabin and all 11 of the people in my party wanted to wash the comforters before sleeping in them. They were grimy. The pool table keeps the kids busy, but is irritating for adults. They put carpet over the felt, preventing the pool balls from rolling. The floors are filthy and really need to be mopped. Many of the windows do not have screens on them and the beautiful wooded area in the backyard was full of dog poop. I would pay a little more to stay somewhere cleaner. read more

I would give just one star, but the second star is for the friendly service my boyfriend and I received when we called in the office to report our heater was broken. Let's start from the beginning, shall we? My boyfriend and I arrived to Cabins4Less around 8:30-ish, so it was very dark. After an accidental mishap (I made my boyfriend walk into someone else's cabin thinking it was the office... oops :| ), we found the front office and was taken care of immediately. We found our cabin (#15) and ... needless to say, it was kind of dingy and rundown like everyone else was saying. It was really small. When you walk in, you have your "bed" and to the right was a very, very small kitchen. *The utensils, plates, mugs... everything was provided, but they were all dirty. We wanted the heater going right away because upon walking in, it was absolutely FREEZING. We read the directions for the heater (it's crazy old) and had to get down on all fours to reach the thermostat. We turn it on... and doesn't work. So, we called the office and said they would be down asap. About 10-20 minutes later, we get a knock on the door and it was the same person who checked us in. He immediately fixes it and the heater worked just fine after that. Now, I'm just going to break everything down by category: Kitchen: Like I said, utensils, plates, cups... all dirty. We were told that we didn't need to bring water bottles because they had water from wells which were just as good. We get some water into a cup and it's just murky. Murky ass water. Disgusting. Front room: Filled with ants. The bed was supposed to pull out to make a bigger bed, but how? There's no room to extend the bed. Back room: The heater doesn't reach back here. It only heats up the front room. So, if you're sleeping in the back, better cuddle up with a buddy 'cause your ass will be frozen. - The bed in the back room was on a wheeled metal bedstand and was jutting out. I cut up my shins on that damn thing and now have a huge bruise. My boyfriend jammed his foot on that... like three times. It's dangerous. Bathroom: DIRTY and GROSS as F**K. When I sat on the toilet, it moved. There were cracks in the showers and I'm sure there were things growing in there as well. Now... since I'm talking about the shower... prepare yourselves... THERE WAS NO HOT WATER. Thinking there was hot water, silly me right? I get stark naked and turn on the hot water... stand there a little bit and then stick my hand in the water to test the temp. COLD. FREEZING COLD. So, I thought... "maybe it just needs to warm up a bit"... I stood there, naked, for about 10-15 minutes waiting for hot water... which never occurred. I waited about 2 hours before trying again... this time... with my clothes ON. I stick my hand under the water and it's warm! Hallelujah, right?... WRONG. I get in and there's ABSOLUTELY NO WATER PRESSURE. I felt like I was showering under a drippy sink faucet. It was the most miserable 20 minutes of my LIFE. Oh man. This weekend was shot because of where we were staying. We had an amazing time out in the village but then had to face the fears of coming back to our dingy, ant infested cabin. And the name "Cabins4Less" is quite misleading. It's kind of STUPID EXPENSIVE for the quality of the cabins. Don't stay here. Avoid. Unless you like ants in your bed, dirty dishes upon arrival and the bathroom from hell. read more

Stayed for one night for $130. I decided to go to big bear because my boyfriends never gone to the snow and I wanted to take my mini husky to the snow for the first time. We stayed at cabin #16 and it was small and cozy for the 2 of us. We loved the stay but the shower was really small. I liked the bathroom and there's a tub next to our beds! The heater worked really well, and all the cabins around us had pets too! Would say this is perfect to stay for a weekend if you aren't willing to pay that much for a cabin. read more

A group of friends pitched in and we booked cabin #19 which is one of the biggest cabins they offer. It's very basic and quaint. You have everything you need and the name does say it all but we had a great time. The cabin was clean but we didn't use the Jacuzzi because it looked like it could have been cleaned more thoroughly, the water looked clean but the hot tub itself looked like it could have been scrubbed down. It was no big deal though we still had a great time. One thing I would tell them is they should clean up the dog poop that collects from other visitors. The kids kept stepping in poop outside. All in all it was a fine place, it's not the nicest cabin you can stay in but it works. The water was very hot in the showers and all the toilets worked, we didn't have any problems with the cabin at all. I would stay here again. read more

This review is for cabin #41. We stayed here one weeknight. It wasn't the nicest place I've stayed by any means but for $79 it wasn't too bad. Booking was fairly easy on their website. We have dogs so we called to clarify their pet policy. They charge $9 for two dogs for your stay which is probably the best bargain on the mountain (other places I checked were $20 per dog per night!). We booked the room and told them we had dogs but they didn't charge us for them...I didn't argue about it. We picked up the key at the office and were told we had a free hour of kayak rental if we like. Also, they had an extensive selection of DVDs to borrow. The woman at the desk was very friendly and helpful. Cabin 41 is a one bedroom unit. It is right in the village with lots of bar and restaurants to walk to and about a 5 minute walk to the lake. It is on a quiet side street on a lot with about 8 other cabins. There is a bbq out front and two cheap plastic chairs. There was a trashcan on the side that was way too full. Inside, there is a medium sized living room with a large jacuzzi tub with more than enough room for two, a small table, a couple chairs, and a small TV and dvd player. There is also a futon frame with a cot mattress on it for a sofa. It is nothing more than a bed of springs covered in a sheet. It was the most uncomfortable seating I have ever experienced. We had to get all the pillows from the bed to sit on it and it was still pretty bad. The kitchen is stocked pretty well with cooking utensils and the bathroom has a shower. There is a queen sized bed that is surprisingly comfortable. You have to bring your own sheets, pillowcases, and towels though. There isn't any kind of dresser but there are a bunch of shelves. The window in the bedroom kinda sucked - it opens up and in with no way of keeping it open without resorting to wedging the broom in it. There's no screen so mosquitoes get in but you kind of need it open in the summer when it's hot. The jacuzzi filled up quickly and there was a lot of hot water. Someone else on here complained about the horrible well-water (so we brought lots of bottled water) but we didn't think it was bad at all. Overall it was a good bargain but bring something to put on that horrible futon/couch! read more

Quaint, simple cabin (#43). Super close to the village. The cabins don't come with linens/ towels. You can bring your own or pay extra. The cabin had a great gas fireplace & kept things warm & cozy. The jacuzzi tub was fantastic. If you are looking for luxury accommodations, look elsewhere. If you are looking for a nice, simple, convenient place to stay, that is pet friendly, this is your spot. read more

Its definitely surprised me! I know there is some complains but I still gave it a try because its the best deal. Also, when I called, people there were really nice. I wanted a lakefront cabin for me and parents and my dog for just one night during the weekend. Most of the cabins have two nights min. So I called, the owner Ron was really nice and gave me the cabin #53. When we arrived, all of my family fall in love with it right the way. My mom even said she wanted to just stay in the room for the entire weekend. The cabin had wooden walls, two queen size beds, one sofa, TV, full equip. kitchen with dishes, cups, coffee maker, dish soap, and dining table and chairs. There is also a closet and a bathroom with a bathtub combine w/ shower. We are located on the first floor, so there is also a little patio area with chairs and BBQ. It's a prefect location in front of our cabin, there is the Big Bear Marina, where you can rent all kind of different boats. To the right, you could walk down to the lake and let your dog swim. To the left, if you walk about ten mins, you will reach the Village, where all the shops and restaurants are. The only thing they ask you is to keep your pets off the furniture, and bring your own trash out. which I think is reasonable. We actually vacuumed the room a little bit before we left because my dog sheds a lot, and there is a vacuum cleaner in the closet. The cabins 4 less also rent bikes, kayak, and fishing pole for really cheap price for their customers. I heard they will soon have a pontoon. Excited! I don't know how I can describe more about it. **PLEASE DO NOT REMOVE MY REVIEW*** I would like everyone to view my experience at Big Bear Cabins for less. I AM A REAL REVIEWER, I POST MORE REVIEWS ON Trip Advisor more than Yelp. Me, my girlfriend and my dog Simba came up to Big Bear during this past Labor Day Weekend. Reading all the reviews about Big Bear cabins for Less, I honestly say, I was a bit afraid to proceed with my reservations but I still did and must say, I am very HAPPY that I did. I rented cabin #31. We arrived shortly before 2pm and the check in process was a breeze. there were a total of 4 ladies in the office and the one who assisted me was Taylor. She was very nice, helpful and her customer service in my opinion was superb. The other ladies were nice, helpful and answered all my questions, I never felt that they were rude at all. As we walked into our cabin, it was very clean. I had no issue at all with anything in the cabin. Like the description says, these are vintage cabins which met all of our needs. The kitchen was perfect for a couple. In the Kitchen was a full refrigerator, gas stove and oven, pots, pans and all the utensils. The back patio was great for BBQing and just to hang out. The bathroom was comfortable, no issues at all with the toilet or hot water. the king bed was comfortable. We brought our own sheets and pillowcases, made us feel even more comfortable . There was no smell to the bed or cabin. The futon in living room was decent. I had NO ISSUES at all with my 3 night stay at Big Bear Cabins for Less. On Saturday, we rented a Kayak, and they have the best prices for their guests! only $5.00 an hour per person. Non guest are charged $25.00. When renting the kayak's, I was again helped by Taylor and the other nice ladies. We all said hello and had small talk, once again...nice customer service. The short walk with the Kayak is not bad at all for 2 adults. We stayed out for about 2 hours and that was the best $20.00 I spent that day. Upon returning the kayak, I wanted to also inquire about renting a fishing pole for the next day(only $5.00 deposit), not only were the ladies helpful and informative, one of the nice ladies helped me with the fishing pole by fixing the line and placing the hook and weight and giving me some pointers as I told them I'm a rookie. Big thumbs up to the nice lady who did all that for me!! YOU ROCK!! During this moment, let me tell you, the office was very very busy with guests checking in and renting out their equipment and NOT AT ONE TIME did they give me any kind of attitude. Perhaps maybe because I was always holding small conversations with them and always saying hello and asking how was their day going. It just didn't make sense to me when I read all the negative reviews, all of them were exceptional to me. I never came across Ron the manager, but every time I made a phone call, the gentleman who answered always listened to me and assisted any way he could. Oh yeah...I even left my lil bag of money and ID and Credit Cards at the front desk, left and drove away for about 2 minutes, turned around came back all frantic and the lady at the front had a smile and said, "it's still here and I left it where it was...untouched" Super honest people! Thank you Sunday, we rented a pontoon boat from Big Bear Marina which I will review shortly. Had a blast, used the fishing pole that I rented and just had an awesome day!! it was not bad at all on the Lake it being a Holiday weekend. Quick Tip: make reservations ahead of time like I did for the pontoon boat, since they are hard to get during busy holiday weekends. After a day on the lake, I returned the fishing pole back to the main office and some of the ladies were there, I was able to catch the one who helped me with the pole and thanked her so much for her help and kindness. the older lady there at the office said to me, "oh, I missed you today. you are always kind." She put a huge smile on my face, this is why I am taking the time in typing this review. I figure, if i was kind and friendly to them, I would get the same in return and I sure did! I told all of them thank you and that I had a wonderful experience. I am hoping that Big Bear Cabins for less will stay, I heard that the city wants to take over some of the cabin sites to make hotels....BOOOOOOOO. We have stayed in Cabin #22 3 times now and about to stay our 4th! It's small and upstairs from another cabin but perfect for a couples getaway! I wouldn't even want to stay anywhere else. We live in LA but from NJ originally and love a taste of winter every once in a while. Nothing is better than cooking dinner in their full kitchens and warming up by fire while watching a movie. Tulip lane is nice and private and you can walk to tons of trails with great views. read more

Saw a groupon deal for this place and thought we check it out. The staffs are nice but a real downer is to have to drag the darn 2 or 3 people kayak which is secured on two wheel trailer down hill, unload it and push it into the water. Then after you are finished you have to pull it back out of water and load it back onto the two wheel trailer. Worst part is dragging it now uphill and walk 5 minutes back to the place you got it from. The kayaks should be placed by the launch area! This dragging the kayaks up and down hill is crazy. I saw a place that also has kayak rentals later but much more convenient where the kayaks are by the water. Besides the process it was good. read more

We had a great 2-night stay at Cabins 4 Less. The location of our cabin (#41) was perfect, right in the middle of the village and walking distance to all the shops, pubs and restaurants. The cabin itself was quaint and clean. Its definitely a no frills kind of place so if you're looking for luxury, you're in the wrong place. But its perfect for a simple getaway. Spa in the room was cool. Gas fireplace, free wifi all worked great. The staff who runs the place are very sweet, a mom & pop type of operation. They were very helpful with showing us things to do in Big Bear. I liked that you can check-out just with a text message. Our one and only complaint is that we ran out of hot water very quickly the first night, so after we used the spa, there was no hot water for a shower. Thats the only thing that kept it from a 5-star review. We'll definitely rent here again! read more

Cabin 51 March 8th weekend. Staff was polite and helpful. Cabin has nice view of lake. Park right in front. Pros: Price is right, walk to village. Takes pets. Decor is warm and cozy. Cons: Units above. You will hear every step, voices, toilet. So don't expect a good sleep. Heater is loud. Gave us 1 roll of toilet paper, no paper towels. I'm not saying I would not stay here again, but may try and find something a little quieter. read more

Scheduling the cabin was very simple and quick. The staff was prompt in getting back to any questions we had. We checked into cabin 32. Its a cute cabin with a lot of potential but very out dated. When we got there we went and bought 300$ worth of food that we soon realized wasn't staying cool. We called the office and they quickly came and fixed the problem. The cabin was not the cleanest and I couldn't even leave my daughter on the ground because their was dangerous things on the ground she could choke on. The hot tub was nice but didn't seem clean. I would highly reccomend your own sheets and pillows. The shower in the bathroom was very weird and left me not showering during my visit. All in all the cabin was okay. I would go back to cabins 4 less but I would definitely chose a newer up to date cabin. read more

My wife and I stayed in cabin #26 for our anniversary. It's a cute, albeit small, cabin nestled in the hills on Tulip Lane. The cabin itself has a king bed, a jacuzzi, and a very unique wooden table that is suspended from the ceilings with skis and ski poles. We really enjoyed the location, decor, and ambiance. Several great hikes are within hiking distance and parking in and out was a breeze. We brought our 6lb dog for only $9 extra and she loved it. Lots of squirrels to chase in the surrounding area. The cabin is very quiet at night and central to most of the activities we participated in over 2-days. We paid the extra $5 for clean sheets and towels and were glad we did. We encountered some minor problems; namely, the faucets in the sinks, shower, and tub had loose fittings. Everything was operable though, so we did not mind too much. I sent a note to the owner and he said he would fix it for the next guests. Overall, we had a great vacation and would definitely rent this cabin again. read more

My Fiancé and I came up for the weekend and stayed at a cabin from here. It was fantastic! You check I. Near the lake and depending on the cabin you get depends on the location you are in. We got a cabin walking distance from The Village, which was spectacular! The cabin was older but very well kept and clean. We had a wonderful stay here and will be returning in the future! I don't understand why this place would ever get less than 4 stars ?! THIS PLACE IS GREAT !!!!! First off let me talk about how Friendly the owners of this place is. My bf and I took a road trip out to big bear and unfortunately got into a car accident. So being stranded out there we decided to try to make the best of it and stay the day while we figured out the car situation .We notice the Cabin4less sign while driving up and gave them a call .... BOOM Instantly gave us a great cheap deal on a cabin. (cause let's get Real !!!...Most cabins out in big bear esp last minute can cost up to 200 dollars or more) Once we hiked up to the spot and told them our situation ...they drove us to our room and told us they can help fix our car ( which the next day they called up a mechanic and did!!!! ) The cabins alone are super cute and have a homey feel to it. Plus you can rent out free movies and kayak and mountain bike rental!!!! I love this place that I'm going back up there this weekend ,and staying at the same cabin as last time ...Cabin#22 ,so excited !!!! read more

Arrived 1:30 p.m. Thursday. Parked at the office. Found the closed sign out and door locked? Door is opened instantly. Check-in time. Both guys are polite and professional. Check-in was simple. They offered us free DVD's, kayak and mountain bike rentals. First cabin closest to the road. Darn code wouldn't work for me but my daughter had it open in 10 seconds. I blamed old age. We rented cabin #11 only 100 feet east. Small. 350? sq. ft. 2 queen beds. Nice and firm. Brought our own sheets/towels per the confirmation e-mail. (Call them if you didn't receive an e-mail, because I didn't receive one.) All rooms are clean and tidy. Off to ziplining. Returned at 8 p.m. Fixed beds with sheets. Watched 3:10 to Yuma. Crashed. Woke up at 3 a.m. Hot as the demons den. Heater seems to be on? Just the pilot, but still feels too warm to the touch. 6 windows. Small kitchen window is open. Dining area window is covered with plastic, so it's open but no air can enter. I try the other 4 windows. All are stuck, except the one above my bed. Only opens 6" but finally some cool mountain air. I couldn't sleep again until 5 a.m. Traffic noise from the cars since we were only 15 ft from the street. I will visit again but at a cabin away from the street. read more

Terrible!!! I recently went to Big Bear for the first time. I was there celebrating my anniversary. We made a cabin reservation through Cabins4Less. The name kinda deterred me until I saw the pictures of the cabins. The pictures they have on their website make their cabins look really nice for the price you pay. We originally wanted to go Thanksgiving weekend but the Cabins4Less receptionist said the price for two nights would be $500. So she suggested the weekend before and it would be $220. So we did that and we chose cabin #21 (king bed, kitchenette, bathroom, wood fireplace, jacuzzi bath). The outside of the cabins are cute. We got inside and as we were unpacking started noticing many things. 1)The smell. It smelled like a feed store. 2) My cat (animals are allowed with an extra fee) was walking around and a board fell through the floor. My cat almost fell underneath the cabin. Had that been me or my girlfriend we could've broke our leg easy. 3) The bathroom ceiling was white cardboard-legit moving box type cardboard 4) cabinets were breaking off 5) under the sink in the kitchen there was a leak and a bucket full of disgusting, smelly and moldy water 6) the bed was just a mattress with a thick plastic on it (you have to pay extra for towels and sheets)!!!! 7) The fireplace was packed full of old wood and ash and when we called to talk to the receptionist she said there was a bucket and shovel outside and we could clean it ourselves. 8) there was broken shards of glass under the bed where my cats were hiding, along with a lot of dust and dirt. It was terrible. I was stunned. I was thinking; "it's my first time here, I wanted a nice romantic weekend away for my anniversary and I just felt like we were taken advantage of." I can't believe they were going to charge us $500 for that room the weekend of Thanksgiving. My girlfriend went to the office and expressed her dissatisfaction and they offered to give us a "better" cabin but it would be without the indoor jacuzzi bath. They gave us a whopping $11 back for no jacuzzi. We repacked our car and drove to the new cabin and when we went in, it was SO small. It was as small as a studio apartment if not a bit smaller. It smelled like gas and the heater didn't work. There was no fire alarm. We just wanted our money back. That was the best thing Cabins4Less ever did for us. GIVE US OUR MONEY BACK! Oh and on the way out, the blonde receptionist and her blonde male friend started to say they were glad we were leaving. So unprofessional. It sucked that our entire first evening was dealing with that and then the stress of finding a new cabin when it was pitch black outside and 28degrees. So thankful for Golden Bear Cottages for giving us an amazing cabin and a great price for being in such a bind. Highly recommend them! read more

Myself and my family had a wonderful time here at cabins for less. I booked last minute, hot a reasonable rate, loved the old school feel of the cabin while at the same time it has all the basic immunities. We followed the instructions on the email of what to bring and everything was excellent. We saw a small spider by the fireplace and we joked that that would cost them 5 stars lol. Simply because that's what we expected in the mountains. Some of these reviews were very helpful to us and gave us an idea of what to bring. I would definitely stay here again for the cost you can't beat it. read more
