I know these are cheap cabins and not 5 star rooms, so we weren't expecting much. We ended up not staying the night eventually because we were not okay with sleeping there. Brought our own sheets for the bed, and while I was putting them on, the bed frame fell out from under me. We looked under to see that the queen sized bed was only being held up by two cheap cot bed frames, and we had to screw one of them back together to get it to stay up. So, we were afraid the bed wasn't going to stay up while we slept on it. Once we looked under the bed too, we saw trash underneath there. So, that's a tell-tale sign that these cabins don't really get cleaned. We did not stay the night once we had seen multiple spiders in the room. I know these are cabins in the woods, but I'm paying money for the bugs to stay outside... not crawl up the wall from under the bed while I'm trying to sleep in it. I'm giving at least 2 stars because the location is great since we were right next to all the shops and restaurants. The front desk service was also very nice when we checked in. They ignored my checking out message, but we texted them late at night, so that's understandable. Overall, I wouldn't recommend paying for somewhere that doesn't have good upkeep. I don't have very high standards - but I do want a decent bed, no trash, and no bugs when I pay to stay somewhere. read more

This is a an update to previously bad written review. Cabins4less did not contact me but instead I felt there was enough negativity in this world and I would not contribute to it. Our family stayed here this past week. Initially all seemed well. We appreciated the 'keep it quiet" contract signature. The place was nice and it was clean. Thursday was great. Friday and Saturday the neighbors in #54 had "arrived". They came with a crowd and They carried on till 1-3 in the a.m. Our first family mini vaca was great in Big Bear and the cabin was great in the big scheme of things. It was beautiful to wake up on the lake. It was clean and well stocked. It was walking distance to the village and the heater worked great. It made for a great experience. The loud neighbors next door were definitely not ok. Management should do checks but overall we were well pleased with our visit. Thank you for the service provided. It was a wonderful overall. I experienced falling snow for the first time and my memory will always be with this place! read more

As has already been explained these aren't luxury resorts. These are reasonably priced cabins with the basic accommodations. (Bring your own sheets and pillow cases, sleeping bags, etc.) The kids and I stayed in cabin 11. It had what I believe was two full sized beds. A kitchen, a bathroom, a small closet/office space. The staff was friendly and we had a minor problem with the bathroom toilet backing up and they were very quick to respond and take care of it. (It would have been nice if they had a plunger in the restroom but no big deal.) Wifi worked very well, good enough to stream netflix and skype call. My car broke down right in front of our cabin and I was surprised that uber was working out there in Big Bear now. The kitchen was small but it had a sink, coffee maker, fridge, and stove and a small dinette table. The heater worked very well, almost too well, we had to open our door to let out some of the heat after it got too warm in there. TV was a nice flat screen. Anyway, it was a great deal and I'll definitely be visiting again soon. read more

My bfrnd & I wanted a mini getaway, during the week. This was perfect! I haven't been to Big Bear in over 20yrs. Its Cozy, comfy, and just enough for a mini vacation with snow covered scenery! Its a bit like camping, in bringing your own bedding/food, but I was satisfied nonetheless. A short drive to Big Bear Village & all of the great scenery Big Bear offers. I recently went to Big Bear Lake for the first time since I was a kid. I wanted a place that allowed me to bring my dog and didn't charge huge fees for him or extra cleaning fees. I found Big Bear Cabins 4 Less during a Google search and the prices were great for what I wanted. I rented Cabin #25. It was great for walking my dog. It has a private back yard area with a table, fire pit and BBQ. There is also a small BBQ in front of the cabin which looked brand new and never used. There is also a picnic table and two chairs out front. Inside the kitchen was nice with a full size refrigerator, table & 3 chairs, stove, microwave, toaster, plenty of dishes, glasses, silverware, pots & pans etc. Everything I needed. It's a one bedroom with a futon in the living room. The TV is small and old as is the DVD player but they worked just fine. There is a fireplace but I didn't use it. This is a cabin without a Jacuzzi and I think I have Jacuzzi envy after talking to people staying in the nearby cabins! It was a bit warm and I was very happy to find a standing fan in the bedroom closet. Bathroom was bright with a window, shower had plenty of hot water. I slept very well the three nights I stayed (as did my dog who normally wakes me at 5am). One morning I had to nudge him at 9am to go for our walk! I checked out a couple of DVDs at the office but didn't rent any kayak/bike/fishing gear etc but it seems like a lot of people did because Boulder Bay was full of people on them. I definitely would like to try a standup paddle board next time. I will definitely stay here again the next time I go to Big Bear Lake but I need one of those Jacuzzis! read more

Had reservations and paid a deposit then had to cancel them due to illness in the family ... tried to make reservations again was told now I can only stay during the week even tho my original reservation was a weekend reservation... They charged my card again without my permission they had to re deposit the money back in to my account... The family member who feel ill died and we had to cancel it the 2nd time .. which I knew made us looked bad ... I called few days ago to just inquire on some dates that would be available for cabins that would fit our family size we never agreed upon dates the lady told me I had to call back discuss with the manager regarding my deposit to be applied towards the cabin I never had a chance to call back they charged my card again and made reservations without even discussing a date with me.... Stayed here over the 4th of July weekend. Really neat place, our cabin was quaint and it was a fun stay, the staff was nice and helpful. The location is awesome as you can get to the lake very easy for kayaking and they have bikes for rent. If your looking for luxury this is not the place. The name describes it well. When I go to a cabin in the mountains I expect a little rougher experience... part of the charm. I am sure the place gets beat up a lot during the ski season. This is a great place for large groups, just rent several cabins that face each other in a communal way. The value is great for the money and there is everything you need in the cabin cupboards. I read some of the other reviews and I can't see why so many are hating on the place. I saw lots of 1 stars but c'mon guys what do you expect for less than a $100/night stay? We stayed in one if the smaller cabins (#45), and it was perfect! The descriptions about the cabins on their website are very accurate. Nice and cozy cabin 45 is. The fireplace was awesome and kept the cabin nice and toasty. Kitchenette did its job, along with the bathroom. Cabin 45 is right in The Village which makes for a nice and quick trip to the many restaurants and shops. Staff at check-in was very friendly. They accommodated is superbly even with a late check-in at 1030pm! Do yourself a favor and check this place out. read more

We had a great two days here in cabin 31. We had just enough room for the 4 of us. The kids slept on the futon and my husband and I had the king bed. The kids really enjoyed the playground in the shared backyard area. There is a cute gazebo and plenty of parking. The office is a short drive down the road. We rented a sled on the second day and the kids used it in the backyard area. We had minor issues with the back door not locking. Called the office and a new handle was put on within the hour. We ate at the Aztec Mexican food restaurant our first night and cooked the second night. We did our shopping at Stater Brothers in town. The kitchen is small but had everything we needed for the 4 of us. Shower was hot! Great after a long day on the slopes. Remember this is a family place not a 5 hotel. Cabins 4 Less is GREAT! My boyfriend and I booked cabin #46 this past weekend and were extremely happy with our experience! The cabin is walking distance from Big Bear's Village, as it is located on s street within the Village but off the actually street of it. It was perfect- we woke up and took our 2 dogs we brought with us to the Village which is incredibly pet friendly! We rented bikes from the office and road them around Big Bear and down to the lake. The experience was truly so much fun and a great getaway especially for the price! Do not expect a 5 star hotel quality in luxury as it is not, but it is great for the mountain experience and we LOVED it! Cabins are pretty small so do not expect a huge amount of space, but it is perfect, again, to experience a stay in the mountains! Our cabin #46 had a small fridge, a tv, microwave, coffee maker, bathroom with shower, and a large bed (I'm not sure exact size but large enough to fit 2 people). Places we went to ate and recommend: Breakfast: Amangela's Sandwich and Bagel Shop (located in Village) AMAZING BAGELS AND COFFEE! Lunch: Murray's Saloon & Eatery (located in Village) AMAZING BURGER AND TURKEY BURGER! Dinner: Saucy Mama's (located in Village) AMAZING PIZZA! Cabins 4 less pet fee Only $9.00 for two pets! um......First off i want to say that this is the first time staying in a cabin and i wasn't sure what to expect other than four walls, a bed and a bathroom. We checked in and the owners are super nice, first star. the second star is for the amenities, free kayaks, bike rentals, etc for 1.5 hours. they lets us keep the kayaks out a little longer cause we went early in the morning. third star, location. it's right next to boulder bay lake so it makes it super easy to pull the kayak, which are strapped to a wheel thing so it's easy to pull. OK, so maybe the place could use some cleaning up. if you look around, it looks like a bunch of cabins were plopped down in the middle of a junk yard. There is so much random, usually broken, things just laying around that they may think is decoration, but it's really an eye sore. If they took a little bit of time and effort to just throw away the junk it would look much better. For the cabin, um, we stayed in #13, and yes there is a fire place, but when the entire cabin is only 10ft x 15 ft, if you use the fire place, the entire place smells like it and that's what it smelled like when we checked in. not a big deal, open the windows and air it out. The bathroom shower has cracks in the shower wall, and prolly mold. I think in general the cabin we were in needed some TLC and the other cabins prolly needed the same. But you know what, it wasn't that big of a deal to us b/c we stayed there for the amenities and it well made up for it. if you are thinking of staying here in the winter time for snow season, you might want to think again. i only say that b/c of the size and the winter gear won't fit. The pics on the website are very deceiving. Oh yeah, there are BBQ grills, picnic tables, and fire pits everywhere. so that can be a plus on the cold nights and we made good use of the BBQ grills, but there are no grill brushes........um.......more flavor right?? ;) The saving grace was how nice and helpful the owners were. read more

Booked a cabin after reading several reviews. I was pleasantly surprised about how clean and charming the cabin was. The only downside was how small the bathroom was. Think of a cruise cabin bathroom, only smaller. This didn't bug my son and I, but at dusk, the cabin was attacked by bugs. We thought it was pretty funny, but I did end up with a nasty beetle with eyelash looking things on my bed. It was a cool little bug, but it may freak some people out. My son wished that it had a better fire pit as he wanted to roast marshmallows. Most of the cabins have fireplaces, but I didn't want to heat up the cabin or get smoked out. The price was a little high for the middle of the week, but I'd use them again. read more

My wife hated it but since the price was cheap I booked one anyway Cabins are far from rustic, they are in terrible shape They were never mopped, you walk around in socks and they are filthy. There's always mold on the walls, faucets and beds are falling apart. No maintenance nor cleanliness at all. Socks in the couch cushions, food etc. they never clean. The people that run the place gladly take your card and charge it and even though they know of the road closures are in effect they charge you anyway. We booked Friday after thanksgiving, clearly asked and was told there was one road open, come to find out 7 hours later in traffic that the actual roads were completely closed from the night before. They screwed people that booked that weekend and refused to give refunds. They offered a BS one day rental Sunday through Thursday rentals even though we were charged triple rate per day for after the holiday. Stay far, far away from these turds. So I haven't stayed in the cabins... However this thoroughly demonstrates the culture of this business. I'm a resident of Big Bear and live very close to the main office and several of the cabins as well as the Businesse's working area... My little dog Kodiak has begun to think their office is a second home and visits on occasion for a treat, however today I had a bit of a challenge... It's a hot summer day...I'm a woman of 'a certain age' and nothing feels better than a cool evening breeze. The workmen have been cutting firewood all day... Working diligently to ready themselves-for winter and while I fully understand the need for preparations....by 5 o'clock I was done... I called the office and spoke to a woman who although extremely busy, exercised compassion and kindness and told me she would contact the owner as soon as possible. Within five minutes the power saw had ceased and I was able to open my windows and enjoy a cocktail on the patio. I called again to thank the young lady for her kindness and ended up speaking with the owner who couldn't have been nicer... I understand living one street off Big Bear Boulevard provides me with both convenience as well as the challenges of living near a business district and I cant tell you how grateful I am that my closest 'business' couldn't be better. read more

My husband and I stayed in Cabin 6 for a night and we would NOT suggest staying here. The cabin was shoddily built, with a bathroom sink that was pulling away from the wall. The location advertises a jacuzzi tub, which apparently doesn't have a water heater big enough to fill it. So don't count on a relaxing bath unless you're willing to constantly check the water temperature and turn off the tap to let the water heater fill back up. Estimated wait time: 60-90 minutes. Speaking of what else was falsely advertised, no fees! Unless you count the fact that you have to pay $5 for sheets. Which included: 2 non-fitted sheets, 2 small towels, 2 face cloths and 1 hand towel. Don't expect them to make the bed either, you have to do that yourself. Oh, and there will also be a $50 hold on your card for cleaning and/or damages. Which concerns me; for nearly $150 a night, I would like the peace of mind that the room was cleaned between the guests. The only positive note, there weren't any cockroaches. **Wished you guys had more communication with staff and guests** Overall OK experience and this is why. We stayed on Thursday 2/22 and Friday 2/23 nights and checked out Saturday. We originally were in Cabin 16 which was great until the jacuzzi tub started leaking onto the wood floors about 20min into our stay (and no we never turned it on). We went to the main office to let them know what was going on and the owner came out to check it out. He said there wasn't anything they could do until they could get someone to fix the problem the next day. So we were moved to Cabin 6 across the way which was ok because it didn't have an oven like the other did and all we brought was meals to bake. We were told we could stay the night but couldn't Friday night because Cabin 6 was booked for someone else and that we would be moved to ANOTHER cabin if there was availability or would just receive a voucher for a different stay. So Friday morning we packed up once again because we assumed we couldn't stay since we were told it was booked and went about doing our activities. I had to call the main office Friday afternoon to see what was going on with our cabin because we were never notified if we were able to stay again. The girl at the front desk had no idea about the problem in Cabin 16 and said it was rebooked for someone (guess they fixed the tub?? Idk). Really wish you guys had more communication with what is going on between the staff and your guests because the guest shouldn't have to touch base with the hosts when a problem hasn't been figured out yet. It was an inconvenience having to unpack and move a few times because no one knew what was going on. read more

Everything about every inch of our cabin was disgusting. You'll need to bring a hazmat suit if you must stay here and don't bring anything precious along on your trip because you'll have to burn it. Stayed at cabin #9 which had ants in living room. Only noticed them because they were crawling on us while we sat in an old stinky couch. As we moved the couch they were all on side and back of couch. Shower in kitchen/ dining area was leaking out of stall which made a horrible mess. Shower in hallway had no water pressure very frustrating to say least. My kids were horrified to sleep on beds they scared of bed bugs. Our last night my son slept in truck and my daughter and I slept in air mattress in the kitchen. We didn't want to take any chances. read more

Cabins4Less Cabin #46 was the perfect accommodation for a couple looking to explore what Big Bear has to offer. Located literally STEPS from the Village shops and restaurants and a short jaunt down to the waterfront, the location could not be any more prime. Check-In was quick and efficient. The woman who checked us in (note-check in located a little ways down Big Bear Blvd at their main location), gave us helpful tips and suggestions for navigating the quaint mountain town. Ensure to bring your own linens/towels for these sets of cabins to avoid a small fee. Also, notify the attendant that you brought your own linens at check-in and double check 'amount due at check-in' to avoid being charged. Check-out was completed via text message, a superb use of modern communication and deserves a KUDOS to property management! There are about 8 other cabins situated in the complex, with varying demographics of clientele. It is pet-friendly, and family-friendly. There were no complaints as to noise or rowdy behavior, even given it was July 4th weekend. The cabin was exactly as described. No frills, and adequate for a younger couple who does not expect a five star hotel accommodation. An exceptional value for the location and walking proximity to the Big Bear nightlife and event scene. We did take advantage of the discounted rental rates for kayaks. We rented a double kayak while on our trip. You have to drive back about 2 miles to where check-in occurred to rent any equipment, which is worth it seeing as the guest price of $5/hour is nearly unbeatable on the mountain! We were charged for an hour and a half, even though we spent about 15 minutes in line to return the rig, which was a bit unnerving. Nonetheless, a very fun experience, and we got to meet 'Bear', the camp host. We will absolutely stay with Cabins4Less on our next rendezvous on Big Bear mountain! read more

My wife and I got a cabin for the week, reserving the cabin was super easy, as was check in. We just wanted to get away, just us and our two favorite furry friends. I can't say enough good things about this place. If you want a no hassle getaway, this is the place to go. So easy, and so beautiful up here, almost don't wanna leave! And with Sam Manuel Casino less than an hour away, it was awesome. We ended up winning about$600 total, and didn't get back to the cabin until really late, the night before we were to leave. Cabin 303 is the place to be at Big Bear! We went up for Thanksgiving and this cabin was great for the whole family. Great view, close to the slopes (its one street away from Snow Summit and a 5 min. walk to the Big Bear shuttle) and it really made the trip a lot of fun. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to cook for 8 people including cups, plates, serving dishes, utensils, etc. We had no trouble with heat, the fireplace looks brand new along with a lot of the furniture and the Jacuzzi is really relaxing after a day on the mountain. From the driveway to the drains, the entire place was incredibly clean and well kept. It really felt like a home instead of just a hotel or cabin. Went to Big Bear for the first time last Thursday and stayed there until Saturday. Stayed in Cabin 58 which is one of the lake front units. Check in was very easy. I believe the name of the lady who helped us in the check in office is Rebecca. She is so nice! She recommended a couple of places/activities when I told her it was my first time and I wanted my doggies to have fun too. The cabin was spacious and clean. My mom and I stayed in "cabins" 56 and 58 a few weeks ago. They are the condos on the lake, so they are not really cabins (I knew this when I signed up, which was fine by me). From the outside, the place didn't look like they kept it up at all. I had seen a picture of the little grassy area out front before I left, and they showed a lovely fire pit and chairs to relax in. In reality, it was a dumping ground for old and broken furniture. The overhang was ripped and falling off, and the furniture they provided on the balconies didn't fit. I had a rocking chair that was broken and a random plastic chair. My mom just had a chair. - 1 Star That being said, we were both pleasantly surprised by the inside. I guess what they lack in outside maintenance, they make up for on inside upkeep. The condo was adorable and perfect for the couple nights stay. Both my mom and I were super pleased! The only complaint I really have about the inside was that there was no trash can in the kitchen....not sure if that was an oversight on the cleaning crew, or they just don't provide one, but it was weird. My mom was missing hers as well. - 4 stars The price I thought was incredibly reasonable! We paid $79 a night, plus $9 for me to bring my two cavaliers up. My pups had a blast for their first time up in Big Bear, and I really appreciated the reasonable cost to be able to take them with me. Every other place I looked charged much more for dogs, and then also charged an automatic cleaning fee. Cabins4Less only charged you $50 if you don't clean yourself. Both my mom and I were not charged the added fee. - 5 Stars Overall, I will definitely be back! I bought a two-hour double kayak rental through Groupon worth $35, for $19. Let me tell you, even at $35, the price is absolutely worth every penny. The entire staff was friendly, helpful, and incredibly welcoming when getting everything set for our time on the lake. They went above and beyond the call of duty when they went to assist me in trying to find my phone that was plummeted to the bottom of the lake! Very small , dingy, dirty! Cabin had bedbugs!!!!!! Have pics but going to put them to good use our friend got bitten everywhere and had to go to urgent care and paid 180 to get treated!!!!! If anyone has stayed here recently you probably took some home with you! We had sheets with dry blood! Had Juan ( may have been Ron cant remember) come and check out our rooms, of course he said maybe we brought something in from beach!!!! Since when do bedbugs like "fun in the "sun!!!!! Sure we got refunded one night, but we have bites everywhere, we took our own sheets, gonna throw everything away!!!!! Oh we turned mattresses over and guess what we found!!!! Disgusting, should have received full refund and compensation!!!!! I have an 11 month old that slept there!!!! Mind you Juan(Ron)says this never happens, and they get inspected regularly!!!!! Everyone of the cabin and lakefront rooms I've stayed in are always clean and cozy and not to mention Ron and his staff are always very friendly. I will never stay at cabins for less. The worst service I have ever received. My husband and I booked this place for 2 nights. At check in, the lady was polite and friendly. Our cabin was at the edge water. The cabin was clean at first but def not a 3 star cabin. Very old and out dated. And you get a view of the lake but they don't say it's at the boat dock. The heater takes forever to start and is loud. One if the bed lamps didn't have a light bulb or shade.. But mine did.. So tacky. The bathroom toilet was broken as well. Couldn't even flush and then it over flooded from the back. We called he front office, I believe his name was Jim that I spoke to. He was polite and professional. I told him that it was broken and flooded. And I needed someone ASAP here and that I had to be in the cabin when someone came. That I don't want anyone coming in when my husband and I aren't here. He said he can get the maintenance guy out there in 20 min, and apologized. The guy came and tried to fix it but didn't have the piece that was broken.. So he said he would have to come back tomorrow. Meanwhile the bathroom wasn't cleaned up properly by house keeping and my husband had to put his hand in the back of the toilet each time we had to flush. We we're very annoyed. The next morning we get up and grab breakfast. No one yet has tried to reach us about the toilet. We get back and noticed someone came in our cabin without permission. They left a mess in the bathroom,water all over the toilet, nothing was cleaned up and a wet hand towel on a chair in the kitchen. We were very upset. I never told them they had permission unless I was in the cabin. I called the front desk and Jim answered, ( I believe that was his name). I Told him what happened and that I was very upset someone came in and no one asked us, and on top of that the toilet is still not working. I told him I wanted my stay refunded, that this has been worst first experience here ever. He said sorry I will let the owner know, and asked when someone can come back and fix the toilet. I said we will call back. Maybe 15 minutes later, I get a call from the owner, and let me just say, that I have never had someone yell at me and get mad at me like Ron did. I was blown away. I wasn't even yelling or change my tone, which is unusual for me. I told him that I was upset about the stay., the toilet not working, that it has been inconvenient , that someone came in without asking us, when I specifically told the front that I didn't want anyone in the cabin without my husband or I. And wanted my stay refunded. He got upset said he was the one that came in and fix it and it was clean, and that we don't give refunds, the whole time he was yelling at me, the owner!!! . I couldn't believe what I was hearing. He was very unprofessional and rude. He should NOT be dealing with customers. He doesn't even know what the meaning of customer service means. He also said there must have been a miss translation, when I told him That I told Jim that I didn't want anyone coming in, unless I was there. How is that a "miss translation"???? The worst place ever. I will never book a cabin from here again. Please be aware and read these reviews... I should have. Truly, the owner Ron should not be running those cabins. He was very disrespectful and never once apologized.. Etc. If you want a 1 star tacky and unfriendly cabin, then this is it. read more

I don't know where to begin... I am usually not someone who complains about a business unless I really have to. Beside from the staff being friendly, cabins 4 less explains it all. Positive: Friendly staff Negatives: Cabins were dusty. Couches and beds felt like they had bugs living in them One of the beds were held up by a coffee tin. Another bed was hard (didn't have a mattress) There were created weird looking walls with curtains hiding them. The hot water lasted for one person to bath. We complained and moved to another cabin. (which was worse) The shower was by far the worst shower i have ever seen. It had pipes that were spraying in all different directions. I literally couldn't shower.. I waited until I l got home in Los Angeles. I was in the kitchen and actually saw 2 roaches. It was a really bad experience and it wasn't over yet. When I get home.. my bank account was charged for switching cabins $35 and a cleaning fee of $25. I had to dispute the charges with my bank which was later reimbursed. Looking at previous reviews and noticing that the owner or whoever replies actually argues over the complaints is ridiculous. I will never recommend this place to anyone! read more

The facts: Cabin #57 for two nights was $387 Dirty furniture, pillows with holes, black dust 1/8 inch thick on the ceiling fan. After just 5 minutes inside the cabin, we went to the office and asked for a refund. We were offered a voucher for another nights stay which we declined since we would prefer not to go back. The manager yelled at my wife. We left. We paid over $75 per minute for a 5 minute stay. We will never go back again. Never! And honestly Ron, I am not a disgruntled anyone. I am merely someone who expects to get what I pay for -- and I did not with Cabins4Less. read more

Going to Big bear and wondering where to stay? Don't stay here! PIG STY! Health Hazard! So we went to Big Bear and stayed in Cabins4Less . By the time we got to our cabin Friday night (after driving up the mountain, checking in, then going to rent ski gear, then having dinner) we got to our cabin around 10.30pm. Freezing cold, I ran a bath but no hot water. Thought maybe it was a shared system that hd run out and too late to call I figured it wld be ok the next morning. It was not. Woke up, cold, ran the showers but nothing. Rang the office and they sent someone around who said they fixed it (meanwhile we are missing time on the slopes for this).......ran the shower...still no hot water...rang the office they said it takes about 15 mins to heat up, Wait 15 mins, wait 30 mins, no hot water. They come back and again say they have relit it. We wait again but no hot water. I ring back and they say they will have it fixed by this afternoon.....I make them promise me. By this point it is nearly 11 am so we've missed a morning of skiing and are not washed. So we ski the afternoon and Kai's pants keep falling down and his butt is freezing with snow burn at the end of the day...we ski till close (6pm) and come home freezing cold and ready to get warm. NO HOT WATER. So I go to boil water and the stove doesn't work.....oh my gosh.....I call them AGAIN. They send someone around who plugs in the stove (um you rent cabins and don't think to check the stove is plugged in)....I start boiling water to warm Kai up so he doesn't get a frostbitten bum and they tell me the water heater doesn't work. Haha Genius! I said we wld have loved to have stayed another night had the water been working. They said they wld fix the water and comp us a night. He also says if they can't fix the water heater they will text us somewhere we can shower. I ask if there is anywhere we can do that now and he says they are fully booked but can go up the road somewhere tmrw. I have 2 dogs, 2 kids and we are unpacked. We have nowhere else to go. It's now 8 pm. It's not like we could go anywhere else and what's the point of going up the road for a shower when you have to get dressed and undressed in full winter gear to do it and drive in the cold? So the next day we wake up, still no hot water and we go to the slopes now stinking. Skiing is sweaty work so we are not pretty. At 12.45 I get a text saying to use another cabin to shower......again, what's the point of that? Getting warm, getting cold, having a shower, getting warm, getting cold - in and outdoors. No I text back saying I'm over it, we stink, our clothes stink and it's just too much trouble. We leave the slopes, go back and pack up. It takes a couple of hours (and is about 3 pm now) and the housekeeper mentions she thought we were staying another day. I explain there is no hot water and didn't want to use another cabin at 6 pm at night. She tells me they fixed the water and it now works. All our stuff is in the car. And no one told me it was fixed! So we head home and have awesome showers and are sad we didn't have the time we hoped after paying good money to stay where we did. No one calls me and says sorry. I make a call the next day and the owner is rude and horrible. He says I should have just gone somewhere else.....um...everything was booked, we were unpacked and you kept telling us the water would be fixed and we had paid you already so it's not like I could go and pay that money over again. He says he will only give me one summer night for free...um it's Big Bear, we go for the snow and I paid over $800 and got only a half day in each day and froze the entire time, stinking. He offers to comp me one night ONLY if I pay another night. He threatens me and says if I take it further he won't give me anything. He tries to tell me if it was really a problem I'd have left. He doesn't understand I had my niece from Australia going home on Monday and this was her one and only chance. Since then he has done nothing. I emailed them, putting my complaint in writing and he said my stay could hardly have been horrible. You try being in the snow for 3 days and having no hot water. If I wanted that I'd have paid $50 and gone camping. I'm using my voice to let others know of this. Sure there are worse things that can happen, but as a consumer we have a voice and if merchants think they can just rip people off and discard them then they have not understood that bad business is bad for business. I am the first to praise people and rarely have a bad word to say about anyone, but this guy is in hospitality and is far from hospitable and had this review been on yelp (as it will soon be) then I would have looked around and found somewhere more reliable and friendly to take my family to because we don't get vacations like this very often and if they can't understand the value in caring for people then they should not be in the business of doing so. read more
