I usually love caboose brewery. Today was the exception. Started out asking to taste a lager, midway through the 1/2 second tasting I was asked "whats the verdict? " to rush me along. I ordered. I then ordered food for myself, my husband and son. I was asked where we would be standing. I told the bartender where. We stepped outside for a few minutes to wait. I went back inside to order another round and check on our food. I was immediately accosted by the bar tender " where were you???? I said sorry we stepped outside for a few minutes but I would be glad to close out our check and leave. He said well we were looking all over for you! I felt like I was no longer wanted as a guest of caboose brewery, so I closed out and left. I will not be back. read more

We visited Saturday evening, August 19th. The lamb ragout was recommended by the manager and it more than earned its positive billing. (Having come off the first half of a long brisk trail walk in August heat and humidity, the higher than expected salt content was welcome; my wife and I agree, however, that "less would be more" in ordinary sedentary circumstances.) The beer my wife selected, though not the favorite of her earlier visits - it had been fully consumed by the time of our arrival, was gratifying. She is from Berlin, a beer connoisseur by culture and experience, whereas I am a naif. Wines, mainly reds, for forty years have met my quaffing desires. However the Caboose Brewing Co has only two on offer: a reliably satisfying, a sturdy, fruit forward Cabernet and the inevitable general issue Pinot Noir. Adding a Petite Syrah or other solid performer would enhance the beverage list considerably. That said, CB Co. is a brewery, not a vintner, so its star offerings are appropriately beers of variety and style. In that dimension it plainly excels, according those far better qualified to comment - i.e., my spouse and several others. Restaurants that compete in the ever more crowded space of beer themed service necessarily gain incremental advantage when their personnel exhibit a welcoming - even jovial demeanor. Wait staff cannot affect the meal's preparation but they have outsized impact through their attentiveness on how diners feel about their visit. The professional and good humored service of our waiter, John, was every bit the equal of the savory cuisine and beverages, a notable component of our delightful visit. (In our long experience of restaurant hopping, excellent service by wait staff usually goes unremarked while deficient service is loudly cited. We prefer to balance the opinion stream with specific praise when it is earned, making the commentary more objectively useful to would-be diners.) This was our eighth visit but our first use of Yelp to make our reservations with Caboose Brewing Co. Having missed the opportunity to be seated at a table on early visits, this was of particular value to us. We typically walk several miles to and from CB Co.; being able to sit, cool off and rest as we enjoy the drinks and cuisine adds greatly to the comfort of the dining experience, as it did yesterday. Educated by earlier experience, we reserved via Yelp and this time we were informed by text, just as we were leaving home, that a table would be available by the time we arrived. The food was very good, yet the prices are a bit high in general for tapas (small plates.) We've often enjoyed the food here, today the eggs Benedict had a twist to them which none of us enjoyed. The atmosphere is nice and our server was very pleasant, but like I said, for small plates, they are the tiniest we've ever had at any small plate restaurant, and priced too high for the size. read more

Great little brewery tucked away in an industrial park in Vienna. Have enjoyed the beers and the servers so far (friendly). I have not had time to try any of the food yet. Get there when Happy Hour starts Mon-Fri at 4, it can get crowded later and on the weekends. The parking lot is inadequate, and other tenants will tow you if you don't park in one of the designated spots (look for the signs), even on the weekends when their businesses are closed (assholes). The street/lot needs a complete repaving by the town and the industrial park owner. Otherwise 5 stars. 10/2017 Edit: The street and parking lot have been repaved. I have tried some of the small plates and enjoyed them. Their mustard is homemade and excellent. Bumped up review. read more

While I'm in Vienna, VA on business trip, my friends have suggested this place to meet up for us to catch up!! It's about 11 minutes from my hotel, so I took uber to go there. The location of this place is really different even my uber driver was curious if he was going the wrong way. This place is located in a strip of warehouse like place. You would think that you're about to hit dead end as you drive by what it looks like as loading docks/warehouse/backdoor of some business. But once you get to the end of the "warehouse strip", you'll see this place at the end of the "strip", and you'll see their logo on the big metal door with the "entrance" sign pointed to the right. Then as you walk toward the right of the building, it's an outdoor sitting with lights on the top, then you'll see the side door to enter the place. Inside of the place looks very industrial, bright but still very welcoming. We have reservation, and they reserved our table with this cute sign that said "welcome to caboose, Hugh + guests". It really made us feel even more welcoming. As you probably guess that they have several choices of beer, so I tried the flight, and it was better than I expected. The food was super delicious!! They only serve appetizers and small plates similar to tapas. So we ordered our food as we go... We had Mac&cheese, pork belly (our favorite of the evening!!!), clams pasta (a little more salty than I'd liked), duck liver pate (it's as good as I expected!!), kale salad, and desserts!!! I couldn't remember to take picture of all the food cause by the time I remembered, it's already gone!! I have 5 stars because everything was better than expected, the service, the food, and the atmosphere was hip enough for the younger people but still have that mature & welcoming feeling for everyone else! Sunday was our most recent of many visits. This visit stood out for some great conversation at the bar and great service from our bartender. The beers have always been great. This time their Berliner Weiss was my lady's favorite and had quite an impact. I had the Vienna Lager and the Rye Pale Ale. No food on this visit, but the charcuterie plates that were coming out were beautiful. The beer keeps getting better and the service is more polished. We'll be back soon. read more

I typically dont write bad reviews! I went to this place after seeing the reviews on yelp. Me & my husband decided to walk to this place from our house in reston and after a good exercise, stop there for good food and cold drinks. I walked up to the restroom while my husband find a table for us to seat. After waiting for 20 minuets , I knocked and the server female walked out rolling her eyes , clearly she was taking a long bathroom beak . After , I walked up to the table my husband was sitting and the hostess came to us and said all the 5 tables at the different corners were taken or reserved , including our table and put the menus that were handed by the waitress down and came to the door! Considering the fact that we wanted to order something small and told her that we'd leave in 10 minuets! At the door hostess again ROLLED EYEs ( whats up with eye rolling !! Seriously!!) then said you have to wait 20 minuets! All the tables upstairs were empty, 5 empty tables downstairs and this place is literally only busy in the weekend because my husband runs on the trail or bikes to this place from our house and wanted to take me here he said always!!!!!! But no thank you! I left and wont be back ! Terrible and very poor costumer service. read more

Love the concept of repurposing a warehouse space at the end of an industrial into a brewery/ restaurant destination, beautiful- props for that! Craft beers were excellent and well-priced. Menu & food fell a little short of expectations. The menu is somewhat limited, albeit it was brunch. I feel that a brewery should go ahead and serve it's full lunch menu alongside it's breakfast-centric offerings. Beer just doesn't necessarily pair well with an omelet IMHO. Also, the tapas-sized format usually ends up being an expensive proposition, it's easy to run up a large food bill, but leave unfulfilled. Take for instance the vegetable offerings (chopped kale or crisp brussels sprouts) served in small cast iron terrines for $11. The croque madame was "almost delicious", but was extremely salty tasting, not necessarily from salt, but possibly from the combination of type of ham (some are inherently salty) and/or cheese. Service was excellent. Enjoyed ourselves overall, and would likely come back for the beers and perhaps lunch or dinner, but I would skip the brunch fare. read more

Biking the W&OD on this sunny spring day, we spotted Caboose from the trail and had to stop and check it out. First impressions of the brewery and tap room are crisp. The designer did a fantastic job of creating a space that is clean, comfortable, and modern. I love everything from the outdoor seating to the bar to the signage to the edison lights. Sarah, the (so much more than a) bartender was also another amazing first impression. With quick wit and even quicker service, she got us set up with the hoppy sampler, which featured four stellar brews - a rye IPA, a DIPA, a West Coast IPA and a standard hop forward IPA. It was a tough choice, but the Bandwagon won my heart. We also tasted the vanilla bean stout and have plans to pick up bottles tomorrow for an event. All that to say, as beer lovers, we found plenty here to love. And then there's the food. We tried the brussel sprouts and the french fries with IPA mustard and homemade catsup. I can't say enough about the brussel sprouts. The sweet and vinegary shallot dressing on the brussel sprouts along with the pine nuts that add a brilliant crunch complete a dish I could eat over and over again (and I will). The french fries were fresh and perfectly seasoned and the IPA mustard was tangy and paired perfectly with the fries. From their website, their slogan seems to be good beer and thoughtful food. But we would recommend "Unbelievably great beer and deliciously thoughtful food." Can't wait to try even more of their offerings. read more

Brussel sprouts were awesome! I definitely need to go back for more! I also had the blue cheese board and that was fun. I know it's a brewery, but I went with the Ram Horn Cabernet. It was so good, I tracked down the winery and ordered some bottles. Our server was really great and very patient with our large party. I will definitely be going back! read more

For the local beer scene, this place is well above average. Put the beer in the Fairwinds, Ocelot category. They'll win a few awards if this continues. Enjoyed a saison, half-wit (so refreshing at under 5% abv), and an IPS collaboration with Sehkraft. Food is good too. On this visit, we had the kids and skewed that way. Enjoyed crispy fries, Mac n cheese (think Wegmans, and that is meant to be a compliment), and pork belly. The portions aren't exactly generous for the price, but that's a minor quibble. Just order more. Really liked the venue. Just off the W O & D, the industrial hip space outdoes many of the other merely industrial utilitarian rooms favored by other local craft brewers. I had the printout and the Caboose hostess could see it in the system--couldn't determine what the issue was. HOWEVER, she accommodated us on a busy Friday night--with a smile and apologies. Service was great, food was excellent, drinks were perfect. Salmon platter, tomato salad, fried chicken and bison ribeye--delicious. I used to be a regular at Caboose.Oh, how times have changed. Every. Single. Time. We have been there in the past 2 months we sit, literally sit (we have seats AT THE BAR), at the bar being ignored. When we finally do get service it takes another 45 minutes to an hour to even make eye contact with another bartender, let alone maintain eye contact long enough to acknowledge that we may want something. Last week I stood at the bar next to a couple that was finishing up their order, staring at the bartender to let her know I was ready to order. When they walked away another couple took their place and the bartender immediately greeted them and took their order. Even when I'm here outside of the peak hours I get the same service. Caboose has awesome beer but the parking is TERRIBLE and now the service is worse than the parking. Why does anyone even go here anymore? read more

Don't go on a Sunday unless you only want beer. The menu isn't anything like what you see on the website. It's what I would call abbreviated. The bike trail next door appears inviting to lots of old dudes wearing bike shorts. I highly reccommend that these patrons wear less form-fitting clothing, or at least lose a bunch of weight. Maybe have a dress code at Caboose. The beer at Caboose is great. Stick with what they brew. I can get the other stuff elsewhere. Service was good but the place was less than half full, so I'm not sure what they'd be like on a busy day. Food was ok, but definitely overpriced. They say it's this farm-to-table racket, but it could actually be Mexico-to-table. How would you know? Parking was good, or you could ride your bike. Just wear decent clothing for God's sake. read more

Great beer and great food! My boyfriend and I tried this place out today and we were really impressed! Although it looks a little sketchy from the outside (industrial warehouse), the inside couldn't be more chic and cute (Edison lights, art, large dining area). We had a few items off the breakfast/brunch menu and although they're small plates, tapas style, and a little more expensive than I expected (around $7 for a small bowl of breakfast potatoes), everything was delicious and the food is locally sourced. For the beer, we each chose to do a flight ($12/4 tasters) and it was perfect. I especially liked the flight boxes with chalk names, making it easy to remember which beers you chose. All were flavorful and easy to drink (we had stouts, a lager, and pilsners). We'll definitely be back next time with our pooch, as it was very dog friendly! A+! read more

Don't come hungry unless you want to rack up a big bill! The food is incredible but portioned very small (got a $12 "sharing plate" that had 3 bites of pork on it). The beer is awesome and the atmosphere and service are top notch. My only complaint is the pricing. There's no way to walk out of here spending under $25 and feeling full. Also, came on a Saturday night and all the tables had been booked out in advance for the whole evening so don't plan to sit unless you've reserved in advance. All the other reviews are right, the parking situation is bad, one of the worst I've seen. I parked way up the street (.3 miles away) and walked. This is a very popular place, making a reservation is a good idea; we did and were seated immediately after we arrived. Since it's so popular, service is pretty slow, so plan to be there a while. The food and drinks are fantastic. The macaroni and cheese seems to be one of their signature dishes and it doesn't disappoint. read more
