We have been customers at Cabrera's in Arcadia, where we had an exceptional experience, and we decided to try out the Cabrera's in Pasadena. To be honest, it was a disappointing experience. The service was horrible. They weren't paying attention to the customers, didn't refill any drinks, forgot to bring key parts of a dish, took too long on dishes, etc. Speaking of the dishes, the food wasn't warm, and the waitress kept making excuses for her absence, not only for our table, but for the rest of the tables in the restaurant. We had noticed that all of the tables weren't properly attended either. We had get up to ask about the tortillas that came with an order of ours, and we had to go and ask for the check since they didn't bring it to us. Overall, this is not a place that we would return to, nor recommend. read more

Our new favorite restaurant! The food was the best we've had in forever but the service was half the excellent experience! Christian was our server and he was truly fantastic! The margaritas were next level, I had the passion fruit, hubby had the jalapeño, both were mind blowing! The chips, guac & salsa were all homemade & full of flavor! For lunch, I had the pacera enchiladas that are grilled -new to me but now my fave! There's so much thought put into this food and these flavors! They're also super dog friendly on the outside patio seating and precious pie Christian brought our pup a fresh bowl of water. Flan is pretty good everywhere but of course this place had just an over the top delicious flan we were racing to finish!! We felt like guests in their home entirely spoiled and loved! I have lived in Pasadena for years and somehow managed to avoid this absolute DISASTER of an establishment until now. After being fooled by the suspiciously glowing reviews, my sister, mom and I made the grave mistake of trying it on a Friday night. The hostess greeted us with all the warmth of a parking ticket, barely acknowledging our existence before dumping us at a table and vanishing. A male employee brought a basket of chips to our table. We ate the chips that eventually disappeared, leaving nothing but crumbs and our growing thirst. Still, not a SINGLE staff member bothered to check on us or even make eye contact. The neglect was so appalling that we finally gave up and walked out. The most revolting part? Not ONE employee cared enough to say a word as we left. The indifference was truly nauseating. I am absolutely DISGUSTED by the complete lack of basic customer service. I wouldn't return to this place if they were giving away free food. A total embarrassment to Pasadena's dining scene. read more

Found this restaurant on Yelp. Believe the hype! Old school decor, dining room with a separated bar. Ordered the house margarita and yum! Chips and guacamole, fresh salsas.... Our server was terrific. She was super helpful with information and opinions on the food. I was going for one thing and asked what her favorite was, i got her favorite which she guaranteed. My parents came in yesterday to celebrate valentines day really busy as expected on valentines day but their experience there was poor they were so busy they handed them the food with no utensils they couldn't get ahold of their waiter so they asked who could've been the manager and he make a horrible remark saying " You should've started with your hands" and forgot to mention they charged them for extra tortillas and never got them. I love the Mexican food here. Chips and salsa are authentic and really good here. The spicy one is delicious. We sat outside because we had my dog with us and service was quick. The skinny margarita was light and not too sweet my husband had the boysenberry margarita swapped out the tequila for mezcal and it was perfect. I ordered the carne asada tacos and carnitas and they came with plenty of meat. We also ordered the mole enchiladas and they were very good. I came when they opened as a 2nd resort since the breakfast space on the corner was TOO BUSY. Christie the Manager, Carla and her team totally welcomed me in 10 minutes before opening and accommodated my needs for a yummy healthy breakfast. Long-time Pasadena customers and hidden gem. Food is very good. Service is friendly and helpful. And, they have booths which most restaurants now do not offer so comfortable. I ordered the combination plate with chicken, tamale, and cheese enchilada. The presentation was very nice. The tamale was very tasty. I love the cheese in the enchilada. The rice was very good with mixed vegetables in it. The beans were very tasty. The waiter initially brought out chips and salsa. The chips were pleasantly warm and not overly salted which I very much appreciated. I'm definitely a fan and I will be back. It's funny because I see this place all the time because it's right next to the gas station where I go regularly. I'm so glad I was starving and decided to check this place out. My husband and me come here at least twice a month if not more. I love the coconut margarita. It is good, yummy, big and good price compared to other Mexican restaurants in Pasadena who are over priced. For the food I like the chicken enchiladas and chicken nachos. We were looking to check out a new Mexican restaurant in Pasadena, and this one popped up. We walked in for dinner around 7 PM and were seated right away. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. There were a lot of families around, so it definitely has that homey and inviting feel.  I ordered the Grande Burrito with Steak ($15), and it was massive. This is definitely the item on the menu most worth it for the price and portion size. I wasn't able to finish all of it, so packed it up and had it for lunch the next day. This burrito is full of flavor (and lots of cheese lol). This wet burrito was stuffed with delicious meat, rice, and beans and topped with ranchera sauce (not spicy) and melted cheese.  I will say that the place didn't seem as vegetarian friendly as they had indicated online. There were 3 vegetarians in our group, and they all ordered different enchiladas. While confirming with the waiter, we learned that the beans are made with lard and the rice is cooked in chicken broth, so they just substituted these items with potatoes and other sides. If you're vegetarian, I would check on what is and isn't vegetarian with your waiter. read more

Horrible service I asked the waitress multiple questions and her answer was I don't know. We also tried calling her over multiple times and she wouldnt even look our way. Have in mind it was only two other people in the restaurant. and the food was cold and tastes like old meat and old oil. We didn't even get thru half of our food. Also they over charged us $14 ? Went back in to ask why and they said it was our bank. I called the bank and they said it was the business that made that charge. Don't recommend this place unless you like being scammed. read more

Came to try out this location after having a pleasurable experience at the one in Duarte. The food was just as delicious, and if you know anything about ya girl, it's that I enjoy a free appetizer before any meal. They serve you fresh chips and salsa upon being seated which is a definite PLUS for me! I'm a basic girl, so I'm always going to go for the chimichanga or the burrito on the menu. My dad, who is a little more adventurous, opted for the tilapia. He's old school, so he was excited when he saw that the fish came with its head still on. He said it was absolutely delicious and enjoyed every last bite. They had a check in offer for a free flan which we redeemed, and it was so yummy! We went on a Saturday afternoon and there was still plenty of parking and seats inside (I do not like crowds or loud noise, so this was perfect for me). I was told negative things about this location. One of them being that they tend to get orders wrong, but the food was great. I went for the first time for myself to find out. What I found: 1. They indeed got my order wrong 2. The food far below the standard I expected. There were laughs when I returned to my place of work with my order being incorrect, as my coworkers had predicted. I returned, informed them of the error. To their credit, they were apologetic and corrected the order. Upon returning to my studio to eat, the meal was less savory than the incorrect one. Based on word of mouth and personal experience, I will not be recommending this establishment to anyone. Ps.
