We walked in and there weren't any customers yet. There was a really pleasant scent in the restaurant but it wasn't food. There is a scent booster that smells like you're walking into a hotel lobby but we still decided to order and glad we did. We came for the breakfast burrito but decided to also get a couple tacos. They have options of bacon, chorizo, veggie and asada. We chose a bacon breakfast burrito, chorizo and potatoes taco and an egg and bacon taco. I appreciated how the refried beans and cheese mixed together in the burrito and also how the potatoes were sliced. The burrito had good flavor and nice textures. As for the tacos, the chorizo is house made and has a slightly sweet flavoring. I also really liked that it wasn't as salty as most chorizos are. I checked several places for their Yelp reviews and Taco Neza seemed to match up with a few of the reviews. I ordered the three taco option. I chose pastor, chicken in green chili and cochinito pibil (pulled pork). The tacos came in handmade corn tortillas (freshly made onsite) and were filled with plenty of protein. They certainly don't skimp on their portions. I got a bottle Mexican drink and I was happy. Each taco was unique with various toppings according to the protein. Saw there's a new taco place in Pasadena and decided to give it a try! Got the three taco plate (shrimp, pastor, and chicken mole). You order at the front and sit down wherever you want. The tacos are super fresh and super filling! My favorite is probably the chicken mole - it was seasoned perfectly and chicken is super tender. The food here is modern Mexican and it tasted really good. Their green salsa is great. The cleanliness of the restaurant is nice. Bathroom is oddly huge and very clean. The man working the register was nice and brought our food to us with nice little caddy that had salsa, napkins, pickled radish, and utensils. We ate outside, street was a little loud, but nice to enjoy the summer sun. My only issue is the cost for their lengua tacos. It's a base price of $16.75. Then it says $3 for lengua, I thought $3 in total to whatever form you order, 2 tacos or 3 tacos. Ends up it's $3 Per taco. So a set of three lengua tacos is $25.75! Whoa, this place is all killer and no filler. The food here is top notch. The steak, and other meats, is char grilled and cut against the grain making it tender. The rice is soft, fluffy, and full of flavor. The chips are made fresh, in house, as most everything is, and the black beans are not overcooked and mushy. The service is where you order at the counter, or from your table on the app, and then it's served to you at your table. Water is self service. The ambiance is cute. One wall has bubbly, cute, stickers meant to mimic a mural. The place itself is small with minimal seating. The prices aren't too bad, but it is old town pasadena, so it's not street taco prices. But what you're paying for is well worth your dollar spent. Parking is a bit challenging but not impossible. It's worth the struggle for the flavor you'll eat. Incredible tacos, period. I've had about half their tacos menu and have never been disapointed. Their order of 2 or 3 tacos is reasonably priced considering other places. I usually get two for $11.25 for lunch or 3 for $16.75 for dinner or weekends :) when I'm not going back to the office. Excellent tasting tortillas, I want to buy a dozen every time I'm here. We love Villa Tacos in Highland Park, but in Pasadena, this is my favorite taco spot. Their pastor, asada and tilapia are amazing. Their shrimp and chicken mole too. Oh man I can't believe I'm gonna be that guy today. Fell for the rave reviews of this place as I searched for quick dinner options in Old Town. I came around prime dinner time and only one other table was eating. I'd tried many of the other spots already so figured I'd stop into this quaint, nicely designed modern Mexican spot. I ordered a Mar y Tierra burrito, at a whopping $18.50 with no chips & salsa, rice & beans, or drink, I was ready to be blown away. From ordering to receiving food took 3 minutes, which I thought hey that's pretty sweet and efficient. Holy airball cuz blown away I was.. by how subpar the burrito came out to be. Here's a quick breakdown: Tortilla: dry and insignificant; the description for the restaurant says housemade tortillas.. maybe for the tacos. Came out warm but on the cold side Rice: don't remember tasting it Beans: decent flavor but could use salt.. a generous helping of salt Meat: very small amount of protein!!! This part is depressing. The asada is on the drier side and near flavorless; carne asada marinade is complex with citrus notes, usually kissed by the grill & you taste that. This tastes like bbq burnt ends, shredded salted beef that had sat around a hot bar untouched for a little while. Shrimp: medium size shrimp with very light seasoning. Light flavor, definitely not marinated just sprinkled with salt. Kind of tasted like what I make in the air fryer. Extras: Cheese was still cold, and a measly amount of avocado was included. Portion was filling, but still pretty small for a burrito. However it's the proportions that really got me though. Where's the meat at???? It's gonna be a no from me dawg. Damn I could have taken the $20+ I spent on this sad panini-ah burrito to Sonoritas in Sawtelle for their Mar y Tierra, feat. chunks of ribeye and big juicy shrimp, and came out crying tears of joy instead. Looking closer at the menu you start eyebrow raising at other stuff along the way. 3 tacos for $16 with no sides or drink??? I know we're in Old Town here but cmon. I think there's potential since some of the menu items seem creative and authentic in recipe. But alas it's definitely a Mexican place for people willing to overpay for something sadly lacking in taste and portions, maybe good for those with a "lighter" palette - aka no salt or no spice. Maybe a spot for the health conscious oil free fat free flavor free LA folk, but not the spot for me. No mames. read more

The Neza burrito was amazing! Steak was juicy and very flavorful. Loved the nopales (cactus) and potatoes in there. So much flavor packed in! The tacos were expensive, but delicious. The flautas (fried rolled up tacos) were terrible! Some of the worst I've ever had honestly, bland, with over compensating toppings that just highlighted how bland the fried tacos themselves were. I tried to use there curbside feature, turns out, they didn't have one set up, so I had to drive around looking for parking, and thankfully I called to check in with them before hand because they hadn't even started on my order. I went in late 2024, so hopefully things have gotten better. Over priced and underwhelming, maybe if you're near by and craving a taco, sure, you could do a lot worse, but you could drive a little farther and probably do a lot better. read more

OMG finally a truly great place to eat at in Old Pas. My love for Tacos Neza runs deep. I used to go there all the time when they opened their first location on Sunset Blvd. It's a family business and it shows in everything they do. It's not your generic or fast food Mexican place. Every item on the menu that I've tried so far has its own unique twist, like the apples in the shrimp burrito. It's literally my favorite food. The ahi tuna tacos..? I seriously think they deserve a Michelin star for them) The people who work here are so nice, the standard of food is always super high. I moved away for a year and when I came back they still remembered all the things I used to order regularly. I hope they do very well here in Pasadena because they deserve all the love.
