Our mission was to get some good pizza this weekend. We thought we would give Valentina's a try. We ordered takeout, and were disappointed to find we paid for pepperoni but did not get it, and the grandma pie was thick crust and not thin as expected. Their sauce was chunky, garlicky and delicious. When we placed the order I said to get ranch because Italian restaurants always have good homemade ranch. The broccoli bites were tasty with bacon in them, but the ranch dressing was a pack of Ken's ranch and gross blue cheese salad dressing. Overall it was good, but you know that feeling when you were looking forward to something and talked about it for 2 days and then it doesn't happen? Yes, that. We'll keep looking. read more

There may be a very good Italian restaurant hidden inside this pizzeria. I got the special cheesesteak, peppers, onions & mushrooms. I liked the flavor of the meat in my cheesesteak, the slice of sausage pizza I ate while waiting for my cheesesteak and the bar with a sign that read '$3 Yuengling drafts.' I'm sorry I got peppers on my cheesesteak. Even at $13.90 the cheesesteak was a touch small. The roll was a mess. The cheesesteak was a miss but I think there may be a very good Italian restaurant hidden inside Cafe Valentina. The Owner's appear to be real Italian's, my cheesesteak meat had great flavor, great sausage on my slice, prices are good, a steady flow of regulars getting 'to go' orders and they have a bar. read more

Worst food ever! Unbelievable how bad it was. Chicken Marsala has spaghetti on the side, it's supposed to be in w/ the chicken that has light brown sauce. It was on the side w/ red sauce. I had to wash off the pasta w/ cold water (that's why the pic has pasta w/ the chicken bc I washed it off). No Italian restaurant does that! The chicken was so dry had a hard time cutting it. It was awful! The veal parm was actually ok & just slightly over cooked. The bread was so stale it was unbelievable. There was no saving the bread even w/ olive oil. With at least 6 Italian restaurants in a 10 mi radius they should care more about the quality of their food for $50. Only reason for going to Cafe Valentina was bc they were open on Sunday. I will never get take out from this place again!! Go to Napoli, Tony's cafe, Valle; anywhere but here. read more

Been going to Cafe Valentina on and off for many years. Let me start with the good. I ordered Chicken Daniela. The dish weighed almost 3 pounds. There's enough food for 2 or 3 people. The 3 large sections of chicken were tender but not juicy. Three shrimp were fairly large and perfectly cooked. Fair amount of broccoli rabe and roasted red peppers which tasted like from a jar. The linguine was plentiful and perfectly cooked. The bad was mainly that it totally lacked the white wine garlic sauce. It wasn't on the chicken and not in the bottom of the container. There were maybe 3 scattered pieces of melted mozzarella. The chicken needed sauce but mainly the pasta needed it. The garlicky and oily rolls have not changed in 25 years and are always good. The miniature salad is so so. I have enough leftover for almost 2 meals but I'll have to top it with some red sauce. With noticeable sauce I would have given them 5 stars. read more

I really want to like this place. I use to come here a bunch but I just cant like it. The service is nice, never had a bad experience. The problem is the food. I've gotten numerous things here. The Good: My favorite is the Calzone, the sauce it comes with is spectacular. I've also enjoyed the Baked Ziti the times I've had it. Another decent item is the cannoli, nothing mind blowing but still decent. The Bad: The alfredo is awful I've tried it a couple times it just doesnt hit it's always lacking. The bread looks great when it comes to the table, again it never hits the spot. Sometimes its stale or it just doesnt taste good. I recently tried the pesto as it's something I've enjoyed. I have to admit it's one of the worst and most embarrassing execuses for pesto I've ever seen. Pesto is typically green, this pesto I had was basically just butter, oregano and maybe some basil thrown in. It's missing so many key components of pesto that it's hard to eat it because of how bad it is. It also has a bunch of parmesan thrown in to it. It had no pine nuts and I definitely couldnt taste any garlic. It's up there being one of the worst dishes I've ever had in a restaurant. Again I really want to like this place its just that it's gone so downhill since when I first tried it, it's hard to justify going back anymore unless I'm invited. read more

I dine in with this establishment all the time and have no issues but this past Sunday was different. Something was off about my waitress I don't know if she was having a bad day but she was very irritated and seemed like serving us was an inconvenience. I ordered ziti with vodka sauce for takeout. I only live a few minutes away and opened my food as soon as I got home. The noodles were already soggy and breaking apart. There was barely any sauce, and the sauce didn't have much flavor. I also pulled a long, black hair out of the bowl. I don't think I'll order from here again. read more

My husband and I ordered food from here and it was not good. We got a meatball Stromboli which was all cheese with little to no meat. We also got spaghetti and meatballs, which was almost in edible. I literally have to eat their stuff over two days but I dont want to because it is so friggin good. Well I just can't say enough about this place! It has been my go to spot for years. They offer a full bar, beer and wine. Their garlic rolls are amazing! My favorite dish is the chicken saltimbocca and, if you prefer a sandwich that day, you must try their porkette with sharp Provolone and broccoli Rabe! Oh my God - to die for! Grabbed dinner with my BF here and we ordered quite a lot of dishes. Chicken parm, gnocchi, margherita pizza, and garlic rolls. BF said his chicken parm tasted unusual; the fettucine alfredo that came with it did not taste like it had alfredo sauce on it at all. Not sure what sauce was used, but it wasn't a classic alfredo and didn't have any cream or garlic. The gnocchi and pizza were okay, but they left a lot to be desired. The best dish was probably the garlic rolls which were fresh, soft, and delicious. Unfortunately we probably wouldn't come back. All that being said the service was great and it was still an okay meal which is why it gets 2 stars. read more

Okay... This place gave me immediately red flags. I requested a slice to go.... first the guy behind the bar touched his phone, a dirty rag then my pizza slice without washing hands or wearing gloves. As he's walking away he decided to pull down his mask and talk over my pizza that was in his hand. He goes to the back to "warm it up" ( it was still given to me cold). They don't have small boxes for pizza slices so he kept my pizza in the plate then placed it in a paper bag. I ended up paying $2.50 then threw the pizza away. This is the only place outside of my off-the-boat Italian grandmother's house that I eat red sauce. The pasta is the best - the texture, flavor...and it reheats beautifully. Wanted Italian and wanted to try something new. Door dashed from here for my husband and I and everything was just really disappointing. Penne vodka was runny and lacking flavor. It's normally a dark pink and I could just tell by the color it wasn't going to be that good. It came with their garlic knots which looked really good but they were really greasy and dried out at the same time. My husband ordered a wrap and it was so greasy. We went through so many paper towels trying to get grease off our table because it was seeping through the box and tinfoil. The good reviews on Google are very misleading in my honest opinion. I think there are better local spots. I think these things could be fixed.. I don't mean to be rude in leaving this. Rather, it's a suggestion that I think could help the restaurant. read more

We ordered a pizza and Gnocchi Sorrento and the stuff shells. The pizza was dry. The crust was like cardboard. The Gnocchi & the stuffed shell dishes had no flavor. My husband liked the garlic bread but it ended up making him sick. So disappointing. We will not be returning. read more

Had a nice lunch here while visiting PA over the weekend. We stopped in for a couple of slices of pizza and changed our minds instead having the Cheesesteak & Fries lunch special. Our cheesesteak's were large, and packed with meat, fried onions & cheese. They were also very juicy and one of the better cheesesteaks I've had in quite some time. I also tried a slice of pizza while there and I'll just say the pizza was serviceable. The crust was fresh and well cooked, however what turned me off was the pepperoni they used. Not a fan of it, but that may just fall to personal preference. Our server was friendly and attentive throughout the visit. Also the owner welcomed us when we arrived and thanked us when leaving. Second time ive been here decided to get a dinner this time after ordering a mediocre pizza with canned mushrooms the first time.i ordered the spaghetti carbonara.first came a forgettable salad with rolls that look great but taste stale.next the carbonara which was a big clump of broken cheese sauce and spaghetti with some kind of bacon product in it.when the waitress who was chewing gum returned and asked how my meal was i told her about the broken sauce she said she was sorry and offered an excuse for the cook.the dish was nothing more than a alfredo pasta with bacon bits in it.needless to say i will never return its just not that good. read more

A must stop when I am in town, the first time my Husband has eaten here with me. Always delicious food, the clam and mussel marinara smelled and tasted like something I would pay triple for! The garlic rolls definitely leave with you, but worth the garlic smell for the rest of the night! The ravioli and vodka sauce was amazing, I would recommend it for anyone looking for good food. It's really cool the owner is always there making sure food is what the customer ordered and chatting everyone up, it's a great friendly atmosphere. I had some great childhood memories here because my family would frequent here all the time & we used to have an apartment across the street but that is were the positivity ends. Nostalgia goggles off I was on a drive home from Maryland & I stopped by here both because I was hungry & because I was curious as to how the place has changed after all these years. I ordered a burger & fries asked for them to give me everything but lettuce instead they give me only lettuce, maybe the heard me wrong but had to ask them to fix it. I gaurentee that patty they used was sitting out for several days, it was both awful & without any flavour if that even makes sense. While I was eating I noticed I the waiters serving food to other patrons, ive worked in restaurants all my life so I know quality when I see it, the food being served didn't have any. 2 stars for the childhood memories but I don't have anything else good to say about them read more

We had takeout last night. I ordered a whole wheat chicken wrap(came with fries) and I ordered mozzarella sticks. My wife ordered broccoli rabe, and a salad. My fries seemed more oil than potato. The wrap was soggy. The sauce for the sticks was half a side cup(maybe 3 teaspoons?) The rabe was pushing 1.5(?) cups($8.50/order?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?)!! The salad was maybe 2 cups($5.50?????). Over the weekend we had ravioli(there were 5!! At $10.99????) And side of meatballs($3.00 for 2??). My wife had mussels and spaghetti( THE ONLY decent dish I have seen in this "italian" restaurant! Their "famous garlic rolls" is a dinner roll dipped in garlic oil! An italian restaurant WITHOUT garlic bread???? Do they know what garlic bread is?? Their menu says "WE PREPARE EVERYTHING FROM SCRATCH" hogwash!!! New castle county should send investigators here because what we have ordered did not seem made from scratch!!! I came here for a slice of pizza to go. I ended up getting fries too. It was one cheese pizza and fires for $5. That's above usual price to me but not too bad. The pizza was a big slice New York style/ Italian style. I'm not going to lie, mine wasn't steaming hot but that didn't take away from it. It was yummy. The fries were battered fries. Very crispy.
