Cafe Zupas is always a nice spot to visit when I'm in town. Good selections at good prices. It's very spacious inside with plenty of seating which is nice too. The service was okay, the initial worker who took our order was great but trying to get a to go box later was rough as all of the employees avoided me when I came up to the counter until finally one asked me what I wanted. My sister got a grilled cheese which she loved, and I got the hot honey brisket sandwich which was pleasantly delicious! And the Southwest potato soup which was good. I really enjoyed Cafe Zupas. They have a variety of delicious bowl options with unique flavors ranging from curry to hot honey. It reminds me of the Cava chain -- but maybe better. When I visited, they had a new feature entree with hot honey chicken that touted itself as being high protein and included cottage cheese as part of the bowl. This is unique for sure. I might have got the wrong item but I got the most popular southwest avocado bowl which was okay. The portion was not as big as I would have hoped but the ingredients were fresh. The bowl was 12.84 and came with a bun but the bun was dry and not warm even though they said it was. I have been here several times, to the Menomonee Falls location and it's been pretty good, good enough to return. However, yesterday I went in and ordered "The Veggie Crunch" and the chickpea and vegtable soup. The sandwich was an interesting choice of ingredients. As its called the Crunch, I kinda expected some crunch. It was a pile of mush, diced sweet potatoes and some other mushy ingredients, with a couple cucumber. It was disgusting. Now for the soup, I've had it before, as I am a vegetarian and there are not too many options for such people. Anyhow, the first time was a lot of broth and very little of anything else, but the taste was good so I tried it a couple more times. This time I believe that the crunch referred to the soup, not the sandwich. The vegetables were NOT cooked, but the broth was still good. I ended throwing out the sandwich and doing the best that I could with the soup, as I was hungry and needed some food to finish a long work day. I'm not too sure if we'll be back, it will definitely be a while, as that experience was a huge turn off for both i and my coworker. Please consider adding more options for a vegetarian sandwich. I've had the vegetarian chicken, which is no longer on the menu, and it was actually good but literally the ONLY option at that time and now this mushy sweet potato sandwich is the only option. read more

We typically eat here about twice a month and often see the same friendly staff, which adds to the experience. However, today was a bit of a letdown. We tried ordering online, but encountered some sort of error, so we decided to drive to the store instead. Our total came to about $50, which is reasonable for a family of four, but the portions seemed smaller than usual. The lettuce was wilty, which is unusual for this place. On top of that, the Avocado Club sandwich was missing the avocado, and we didn't receive butter for the rolls or silverware with our to-go order. Every other food place has it figured out but it seems this location (never had any other location) puts one poor worker in the position of giving every single mobile order their food. I LOVE Cafe Zupas, and have eaten at all three locations - Greenfield, Brookfield, and Menomonee Falls - and have never been disappointed. This past week I was in the MF area and stopped in for my favorite pick two combo - the turkey bacon avocado panini on ancient grain bread, and the mushroom bisque. The food was delicious - soup was piping hot, and the sandwich just oozed with the terrific sauce and perfectly ripe avocado slices. I chose the pastrami sandwich which is a seasonal sandwich, the lobster bisque, and just a cup of water. The lobster bisque soup was delicious with the price of bread that came with it. The pastrami sandwhich was warm and soft. They even included a free chocolate covered strawberry * free desert. I enjoyed my meal and would definitely come back. The food is great -- I would give it 4 1/2 stars. The Wisconsin cauliflower soup was excellent. The pulled pork sandwich is good. The chocolate-covered strawberry given with each order is a nice touch. However, the service is 1 star. When we approached the counter, a man behind the counter listened to our order but did not write it down or enter it into a computer. We were told to move down the line to the soup station, where the woman behind the counter asked for our order, so we repeated it. She ladled the soup into bowls and set it on top of a counter, where it sat until this ordeal was over. It was cold by the time we actually sat down to eat it. But back to the counter. We waited a bit for a third person, one near the cash register, to ask what we ordered, so we repeated our order again. She saw the soups but didn't have a clue about my sandwich, which she went looking for. Meanwhile, my husband and I decided to add desserts to our meal, when we saw them between the soup counter and the check-out. We gave the apparent cashier our dessert order, which she proceeded to get wrong. The disorder of this place is stunning. I counted seven employees behind the counter, some just milling around, and no one seemed adept at their job or perhaps even to know what their job was. As customers, we had to repeat our order multiple times and then monitor what was happening behind the counter to help the employees get the order right. I've known about Café Zupas since it opened but never tried it, so I finally made an opportunity to do so. Not wanting to try just one thing on my first visit, I ordered the Italian Club sandwich, the seasonal version of their Wisconsin Cauliflower soup that comes with noodles instead of the bacon and cheddar, and the Chocolate Mousse Cake. The dressing on the Italian Club had a bit of a kick to it. Not expected, but not unwelcome either. The sandwich was larger than I expected it to be, mostly due to excess bread. Overall I thought it was a decent sandwich and something I would maybe consider ordering again with a discount of some sort. I don't know if it's worth about $7 normally. I appreciated the free chocolate covered strawberry in the box with the sandwich. That was a nice touch. As for the soup, with the noodles and thick consistency it was more like a mac and cheese than a soup. Again, not expected, but not unwelcome either, same as the chocolate covered strawberry that also came with it. The soup could have been a little hotter, but I liked it nonetheless. I'd consider getting the standard Wisconsin Cauliflower next time to see if it's even better with the bacon and cheddar. The Chocolate Mousse Cake didn't wow me like I hoped it would. There wasn't anything wrong with it, I just expected more impactful flavors. Next time I'd try the Crème Brulee Cheesecake instead. The restaurant itself is very stylish looking and at least for salads you can watch your food being assembled, which I always find interesting to do. I don't know how busy they normally are, but besides a takeout order and one other table with two customers at it, I was the only one there from the beginning to end of my sandwich and soup. This is a great place to hit up when you are looking for something quick and easy and fresh/with a little bit of something to quell everyone's craving. We felt serious Panera vibes but the dishes are more customizable and the soup selection vast plus they have a fun cafeteria style desert case with cheesecake that looks divine. When you enter, the space is clean and bright. Nothing fancy just functional by visually inviting. Lots of seating both inside and out. Ordering was a bit tricky only because they do not have QR codes anywhere to access an online menu nor did they have hardcopy/print menus on site. I had to walk up to the front and try to read the boards to determine what I wanted all the while the line behind me was growing and growing. I eventually stepped out of the line away from my group and pulled up the menu online to not hold things up. Def recommend that you look at the menu online in advance so you know what you are walking into and can be prepared. The line was super steady most of the time we were here. All the salad dishes come with some form of meat but since things are assembled on the spot you can easily request no meat - a vegetarian's dream: the ability to order absolutely anything on the menu! There was a Wisconsin Cheese Cauliflower soup that sounded delicious but didn't look good when I saw it in the pot so I skipped that. The checkout service was not good. The person must have been on the cusp of their break because they turned their back to us to talk to what appeared to be a manager. We just stood there for t5 minutes until the manager told the person to turn around and help us. Not the end of the world but noticeable. What we didn't expect at checkout was the complimentary roll with butter and chocolate covered strawberry. Pleasant surprise and rounded the meal out nicely. I was looking for something healthy after a visit to Costco, so perusing the salads, service was super helpful and clear with directions (something I really appreciate)! I ordered a salad with chicken, it came with a small side of bread and a chocolate covered strawberry. The salad was great, but I wished I had gotten a soup + salad combo; as the selection of soups looked really good. (Next time!) The dining area looked like a hurricane had ripped through it, and tables also had leftover garbage from previous diners. I've had takeout from Cafe Zupas twice, what originally attracted me to them was their salad options. They're healthy, made fresh and they'll even sub tofu for free instead of meat. Their portions are large, even the small salad is a good size for me. I think a good option is the choose two, I went with a full sized Ultimate Grilled Cheese and a small salad. Everything was good, however there were multiple chunks of bacon hidden in the salad (I requested no chicken or bacon). I'm guessing they made it wrong and instead of starting over, tried to pick out what they could. The chocolate covered strawberry is a nice touch I suppose, but both times I've have had them the berries seem old or not as fresh. A good, more modern alternative to something like Panera. This Zupas is brand new-ish and conveniently located near Costco. The inside is bright and modern with a long counter where you get your food. Cleanliness behind the line looked great - the dining room, not so much. Despite there being 1-2 other tables at 5:30pm on a Monday, more than half the remaining tables were dirty, there were napkins and trash on the floor and the place where you drop your tray was overflowing with trash, dirty dishes and a giant stack of trays. Food wise, you can get soup (6-8 choices), salad (predetermined set ups or build-your-own) or sandwiches. A "pick 2" combo is available. The Mister grabbed a chopped salad which he liked a lot and I had a "protein Cobb" and chicken enchilada soup. The soup was good, if a tad salty but I'd get it again. My salad was better than I expected - they didn't skimp on the toppings. Unless you like to drown in dressing, I'd recommend getting it on the side as I only used about 15% of what they gave me. I'd also advise not adding avocados to anything - it's avocado spread and not slices. Many reviews here call out poor service - the people that took our orders/made our food were nice and efficient but I can see where the concerns come in. I was supposed to have a choice of protein on my salad and that didn't happen, they just dumped chicken on it. And the dining room, as noted above, was a disgrace. Also they NEED to be stocking menus as the board is hard to read. That said, I find most Panera's to be dirty as hell too . Zupas had more creative options and I like the chocolate covered strawberry that comes with each order. We go to the nearby Costco regularly so I'm pretty sure we'll be back.e read more

I used to eat at Zupas back in the day when I was college and it only existed out west. All. The. Time. I can't recommend this place highly enough! For a "chain" restaurant, the food they make is so fresh and tasty! The salads are ALWAYS on point and their soups have so much flavor. My absolute go-to's are the Honey Bacon Club (HBC) and the BBQ Chicken salad. So. Freaking. Good. This last time I went they've added protein bowls! I haven't tried them yet but they look superb. We get catering from here at my job and one of the things I love most is their chocolate dipped strawberries! Anyways, this restaurant has a special place and I will always give it 5 stars! A couple weeks ago my manager thought she put in a lunch order for the Big Wigs, but it didn't go through (user error :)) I called that am just to confirm but there was no order. The Staff at Cafe Zupa were amazing. Andrea was so helpful. I was able to place the order and it was ready by the time I arrived. Someone helped me put it in my car and I was off. I just wanted to give a public Thank You! I worked as a restaurant manager for a very long time and have encountered many an attitude from staff (at work and personally) when situations like this happen. I live in the Forte Apartments and decided that I wanted to give this place a try, especially since I have heard so many awesome things about it. I ordered the Asian Chicken and Quinoa Salad with the Turkey Avocado Club sandwich for pickup. I was pleasantly surprised by the chocolate-covered strawberry. While I liked the bread, I don't think it was needed - especially since I ordered the sandwich instead of soup. I LOOOVED the sandwich; the bread was very soft and there was just enough of everything on the sandwich so as not to be messy.
