I had an amazing experience at 1137 Seafood! It's a local favorite spot that's been around for 10 years and one that I'll definitely be coming back to again and again. I tried a lot of their items, my absolute favorite is the 1137 lamb chop platter that I got with shrimp! Usually, I'm skeptical about lamb because of that gamey taste BUT WOW... these lamb chops were so tender, perfectly cooked, and easily some of the best lamb chops I've had!! I, also, enjoyed their fried chicken sandwich which was perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside with great seasoning throughout! Something you must try here at least once is their po' boy sandwiches. The bread they use is phenomenal, didn't get soggy at all despite all the sauce on it!! Something to know beforehand is their smash burgers are only served on Friday and Saturday. It was very worth the hype! Service was another highlight. Major shoutout to Chef Dante, Dennis, and the team for being SO welcoming and clearly passionate about what they serve! They truly deliver on serving massive portions, packed with flavor, and delicious consistency. I can't back to Cafe 1137 as I had been out there for work. I had the ability to sit down and try more options as the last time I was in a hurry and needed something quick to grab and eat. We arrived and they appeared to be out of a lot of things. They were bringing supplies in from outside and I even helped bring in deserts from Simone's car that the establishment was selling. I ended up ordering the shrimp and salmon Caesar salad sub and along with old bay wings. It took about 25 mins and my food came out. They were out of Parmesan cheese so I took shredded instead as I was hungry and needed to get back. The salad sub was ok however it is DRENCHED in dressing which takes away from the salmon flavor. The bread is good and the shrimp are tiny. This is a pretty messy sub with mixed results. The old bay wings can be removed from the menu. They were not cooked well and I ended up throwing half away. It's been a long time since I gave a review for 1137 so I decided to stop in & give an update. It wasn't crowded at all so i had no issue parking or ordering this time around so that's a plus. The best part of this trip was the menu had been greatly updated (which was my biggest knock on my first review). I honestly didn't know what I wanted to get at first but I elected to go with the chopped fish sub & fries. When I say excellent choice cause man this sub was delicious. Properly seasoned, packed with fish & the special sauce was great. It was one of them you almost burn your tongue cause it's so good you don't want to wait until it cools off. My brother and I ordered carry out from here. The place is in a small shopping center and the parking is very limited. There's also very limited seating on the inside. This is truly a place to carry out from. We ordered in the store and waited out in the car. The woman working at the counter was helpful when we were trying to figure out what to order. My brother went with salmon platter with extra shrimp, and I got the crabcake platter. We split the honey old Bay wings. Now for the food: The crabcake platter was not bad. The crabcake itself had a lot of lump crab meat in it and was very delicious. I wasn't a big fan of the sauce on the rice and corn mixture as it was a little too sweet for my liking. There also was very little crab meats in my rice and corn mixture side, but honestly my expectation for how much was going to be in here was low, so I wasn't too upset about it. My brother enjoyed the salmon platter and the shrimp. He said that everything was very well seasoned. He also wasn't the biggest fan of the sauce that was on the rice and corn mix because he felt it was also too sweet. I think we were looking for something just a little bit more savory as a part of the dish in terms of sauce. The honey bay wings were the star of this entire meal. They were crispy, they were the perfect combination of salty sweet. Every time I come here, I will be getting these and to anyone reading this review, you should too. I think this place is over hyped on social media and overpriced. This place is far from Baltimore and I don't recommend traveling that far. We noticed after placing our order that the lamb chop platter didn't have crab so we placed another $12 order for crab. When we got the platter there were 2 sprinkles of crab in the plate. The fries were seasoned but stale and cold. The lamb, rice, po boy, and lemonades were decent. There is parking thankfully and a few places to sit inside. I have mixed feelings about this place. I'm not a fan of the rice with corn. My husband loves it though. The other day we tried the Chicken N Shrimp Cheesesteak, Grilled Tilapia 1137 Platter and Fried Chicken Platter with fried shrimp added on. The food is expensive compared to the other places in the area. Our meal was almost $90. I was not impressed with the grilled tilapia. It looked like it had a lot of seasoning but once you bit into the actual fish, it was bland. For some reason I was thinking the fried chicken platter was whole pieces of chicken but they were more like small fried pieces of bones less chicken breast. They were actually tender and cooked well. My husband liked the cheesesteak. We had a not so great experience when picking up the food. I placed an order online and my husband went to pick up the food. It said the order would be ready in 45-60 minutes. Thankfully he double checked the bag. He went in and asked for our order and was given one bag with 2 containers. He asked the lady if that was all because we ordered 3 different things. She said yes, he asked if she was sure. She said hold on and another guy came from the back and told her no, he has another bag with food. Also, by the time my husband got home (we live less than 10 minutes from there), all of the food was cold, not even warm but outright cold. The passion fruit tea was sweet like I like it, but not too sweet and it has fresh fruit pieces in it. The sweet potato cheesecake was sweet, but delicious. I also tried some fries and they were good regular fries. My nephew ordered 4 piece BBQ boneless bites with fries and passion fruit tea. The boneless bites are not bites... They are like big tenders. They have some amazing seafood dishes! We got the Salmon Caesar Sub and Fried Catfish Platter. That catfish was crisp with a real nice dark, flavorful, breading. The mix of rice, corn, and crab underneath is filling, with a rich, creamy sauce. Both the platter and sub were delicious and something we'd get again. This is a Black owned business and the owner Dante is very nice. And of course we finished it off with a strawberry shortcake dessert jar from Freakin Sweet Jars, which are sold at the spot. However, I will NOT be returning! The LACK of service and professionalism was at an all-time high. My family and I tried to support yet another black-owned business. The picture you see here is the owner's daughter just standing there as guests arrived to pick up there food. Literally. Standing there. Not picking up the phone. Not acknowledging anyone! She finally comes to the door. There had been a guy waiting there long before I was there. He was still waiting! People were arriving and were not acknowledged. At all. The consensus amongst the guests was to wait until someone comes to the door. We didn't know if we were supposed to open the door because a table was blocking the door and with COVID-19 occurring, we didn't want to just walk in. No one was instructing any of the guests on what to do! We were just standing there. It was a sh*t show for lack of a better phrase. The owner's daughter (the young lady in the picture) was very rude. Sat with her back faced towards guests. In short, my cousin asked for a refund and I damn near did the same. To add, once I got home, HAIR was in my food. I do not recommend this place. The service was terrible. The food was subpar. I will not be spending another dollar here. It is a shame that I'm writing a review like this about a business I wanted to support!!! Do better! People are literally there to support your business. Train your staff - actually no. The food is so good! I tried the catfish po boy and the salmon platter. I definitely recommend the salmon platter, super delicious and comes with lumps of crab, corn, and rice in a special type of sauce. Bring your own water because they don't offer water cups. If you're starving, definitely call a head of time to order or don't come at all because the wait for food is ridiculous. It takes at least half an hour for an order to be made. When I visited this restaurant (on a Saturday), there was only one cashier up front and one cook which made the service very slow. I don't recommend this restaurant as a dine-in and a group setting place since it is very small and only offers two small tables and a bar type sitting area, which is usually where people wait for their food. read more
