microwaved chopped up borek was not edible

I hate to ding a new business at all and the reviews and photos for dine in breakfast look fresh and amazing. Unfortunately, I was pretty disappointed with my borek to go. My kids love Mediterranean food and I wanted to try this new bakery/cafe. I ordered a borek with ground beef, cheese and spinach. It sounded like an elevated spanakopita. I asked for it to be heated and was a little confused at the small box relative to the large savory pastry. Unfortunately the young gentleman who prepared my food zapped it for too long in the microwave(?) and chopped it into tiny pieces. This rendered the phyllo dough soggy and did the filing no favors either. I would come back to try other items because other yelpers have left such positive reviews. If you get the Turkish pastries, heat them at home!

Very good Turkish börek! Fresh, crispy, and full of flavor. The pastry was perfectly flaky and the filling was delicious. Definitely worth trying, and I would happily come back for more!

I highly recommend Cafe 34, get in here before it gets busy! The food is great and the service is friendly. I'm so glad we have a Turkish breakfast spot in Burlingame now. Come support this small local business if you like fresh homemade baked goods and breakfast dishes.

Meat borek, spinach borek, scrambled eggs, Turkish coffee, tea, and a plate of gherkins, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, olives.

A yummy Turkish breakfast place on Broadway in Burlingame. My partner ordered scrambled eggs, a side of spinach borek and Turkish coffee while I got the breakfast beef borek that came with hot tea and a plate of vegetables. The borek in particular was outstanding - flaky, crisp dough wrapped around a delicious filling. On this Saturday morning there were plenty of empty seats at this small establishment. I hope more people discover Cafe 34 and experience the delight of biting into a beef, cheese or spinach borek.

I watched their reactions when taking the first sip, it was a lot of head nodding and thumbs upping to their friends so I felt like I had to go in and try for myself. Went in and ordered an earl gray matcha and my partner ordered a passion mango tea w boba. The matcha & the passion fruit was so good! The boba was chewy and sweet. I would definitely recommend coming and trying! I really wanted to try their strawberry matcha but I'm always so skeptical (I have trust issues w bad strawb matchas) but the earl gray was good, so maybe I'll try next visit. The interior was nice, menu was straight forward on the wall and on the check out table -- only thing is the description of the drinks weren't shown on the menus until you're on the self check out kiosk. I was curious about the sunny side up matcha thinking it was made with real egg yolk (which I thought kinda weird?) but the kiosk said that it was mango. You didn't really talk to staff at all & the drinks came out pretty fast! Would come back again.

I later found out they closed that same day due to some kind of sewage/health inspection issue, so I decided to give them another chance after they reopened, especially since friends recommended their other locations. My visits since then have definitely been better. My go-to is now the Double Matcha at 50% sweet. It has a strong matcha flavor, is creamy, and is really good when made right. I definitely won't be getting the matcha einspanner again though. The biggest issue is consistency. Not every visit tastes the same, but when it's good, it's good. The shop also sometimes has a noticeable bathroom/cleaning chemical smell, which isn't the most pleasant when you're sitting inside.

They had one table for 4 that they marked as "reserved" b it apparently it was for a party like us that couldn't fit around the tables for 2. The staff was friendly and took our orders. We all got the Breakfast Bowl! Help yourself to a mason jar to grab some water. It was cute and very refreshing! I did love it! But me being the piglet that I am wished it was more. Love the poached eggs and the mixture of quinoa with roasted veggies, feta cheese and avocado. After I ate the eggs, I spritzed the lemon on the dish and it added a vibrant pop to the meal. My friends didn't finish theirs but I finished mine! So why 4 and not 5. Just wish the bowl was a bit more substantial but it was definitely tasty!
