Tried this restaurant for the first time tonight and had a great experience. Our server was named Karissa (sp?) and she was not only energetic but had great communication skills. The food was brought out in a timely manner although the papussas that we ordered took a little extra time; not an issue as the wait was worth it. The white queso appetizer was thick and creamy and was very satisfying. Chips and salsa were delicious. For our main entrees, I ordered the Mitchell's Favorite (two enchiladas, beef taco, and steak fajita taco). My girlfriend ordered the Fiesta Enchiladas (three different enchiladas). Overall, the enchiladas with chicken were moist and flavorful. The cheese enchiladas were packed with cheese. The owner/manager (Jose) came over to greet us and to ensure our meal and service were outstanding. This restaurant, although it has been here since the 80's, has been updated and should be a must try. My girlfriend and I definitely recommend this place. read more

This place has been around for as long as I can remember. I've always enjoyed the food and they have great drink specials. I've been there several times and never experienced bad service. The atmosphere is laid back, so if you're looking for a waiter to stop by and scrape the crumbs from the table...this is the wrong place for you. Their biggest downfall is they don't seem to spend any money on making the place better. The tables and decor that are the same as when I was in high school. The worst part is that they have a great patio space that is wasted! I wish they would update the patio area, I already love the food but having a great patio in South Arlington/Kennedale would be great! Tired old restaurant with salsa that tastes like watered down Pace. Food is fair at best. It's been there forever and some people just love this place and I have no idea why.... If I could give it less then one start I would! This place honestly deserves an episode on restaurant impossible! The beans are straight out of a can and they still taste funny the Chile rellano isn't crispy at all its mushy and bland and tastes as though it was cooked three days earlier and served today. It's awful at best and stomach turning and the only thing worse then the food is the decor. The floors are disgusting the tables have broken pieces on them there's dust on the fake plants and tapestry that hangs from the ceiling looks like it's been there for 18 years and never been washed. The restaurant is in a relatively nice strip center - no trouble with parking. We were greeted promptly, and our waitress was awesome. The advertised $3.25 margaritas showed up as $3.50 on our receipt; a little watered down. The waitress suggested the fajitas for two ($25.50), and they were just ok. Flour tortillas were easily store bought - probably Mission brand from Kroger next door. The rice tasted old and cold, but my husband said the beans were ok. We started out with queso/ground meat, and it was lukewarm. I don't think we will be back. Our total bill plus tip was $45. Money was not well spent. read more

I visited this restaurant years ago, but was never impressed with the food. Heard it was taken over by a new owner. Decided to give it a try. Must say, I'm glad I did!! On my first visit, I had brisket-chicken fajitas. My sister had chicken quesadillas. Next visit, i tried achicken, and mushroom plate, my sister had cheese enchiladas with fajita chicken. The flavor of their chicken is one of the best I've had. Just delicious!!! Food was served timely, fresh with a more than generous portion. Everything we had was just the best!! My only complaint is that they are stingy with the salsa. They bring it to you, but you have to keep asking. Not enough to keep me from returning to this little gem!! The food is just awful and the service is worse, if that is possible. The restaurant is usually empty, and there's a reason for that. When we were there, we were served the most inedible food that has ever been presented to me in a restaurant. We told the waitress we could not possibly eat it and she smiled and said that "sometimes when they boil the chicken, the fat gets in there too, sorry!" We got our bill thinking they would remove the uneaten food from the ticket, but they had not. When it was mentioned that we didn't feel that we should pay for something we could not eat, the waitress just said "Oh, I'm sorry you didn't enjoy your meal." DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME COMING HERE... That being said, I'll tell you about my experience. It was my friends birthday dinner. It took 30 minutes for someone to come out to the patio and ask if we had been helped, which he knew we hadn't because we were in his section. It then took another 30 minutes for the same server to come out and finally get our drink orders. Everyone ordered water except my fiance, which she ordered a Dr pepper, and my friend ordered a beer rita, which the server basically told him not to get it because it would take too long to make. What?! Then it took another 20 minutes for him to bring out our drinks. He places a water in front of my fiance. I told him she ordered Dr pepper and then he tells us their out, so she requests a Coke. My friends "beer rita" came out without the beer in the glass and the margarita only filling up 2/3, if that, of the glass. The margarita is supposed to be frozen, but comes out mostly liquid with a little bit of frozen still left on the top. I mention that we still do not have menus, so he runs inside to grab them, brings them out and then went inside to get a Coke for my fiance. Takes him about another 20 minutes to bring the coke and finally take our orders! We ordered beef fajitas. When they came out, as soon as they hit the table, they stopped sizzling. My fiance heard me make a comment about it and told me that when he came out with the fajitas, he put something on the skillet and relit it. They were horrible and tasted like they had been seasoned with Italian seasoning. At the end of my meal, my friend went inside to complain about the service and was told by the owner "sorry, there's not much I can do to help you. I can take off the tortillas (yes... they charged us for tortillas) but that's about it" which the tortillas were only $0.59. I will NEVER come back to this place. I am re-writing this review as I recently learned that this establishment decided to delete my review form April 2013 (pasted below). I am not an ex-employee or someone holding a grudge, I know horrible food/service and that is what I got that day at this restaurant. "The experience was equivalent to getting a balloon animal from a clown and having it pop in your face. I took my wife around 3PM on a weekday and were the only people there, the servers were too busy looking up instructions on how to refill tea on their iPhones while we waited for our food. The chips were tough and old... Salsa was ketchup water... Queso transformed my tounge into a ninja crimefighter because it was yellow mutagen. The shrimp entree we ordered was not any better... basically Pedigree erasers boiled in sauce from what it seemed like. We did not finish our meal, simply payed the bill and left. I really wanted to like this place because we heard so much about it over the years... We expected chocolate ice cream and received malted mud cakes." read more

Cafe Acapulco is a good place to meet in the middle for a meal. I have only been for dinner lately, and the service was good. The restaurant is never crowded, and the menu is typical Mexican food. There is also a patio, which is good when the weather is nice. read more

We go there regularly now.. prompt, friendly service from a their greetings at the door to the courteous staff that is always timely and eager to make sure we have a great time. In all honesty, the food tasted like it had been sitting out a while and microwaved. Definitely not fresh ingredients, no spice, canned beans, canned salsa. I had the tacos al carbon, 1 chicken 1 beef. Just 2? With rice and beans. They were okay. I had them with corn tortillas but the meat was overflowing. Extra tortillas would have been nice. Waiter was nice but failed to refill my water in a timely matter. My wife had the Mexican burger which she said was good. The menu said homemade fries. Not true. They weren't good at all. I probably will not be coming back. My wallet did agree with the check though, so at least this place has that going for them. read more
