Food here is always fresh and amazing. The menu can be a little intimidating, but everything we've tried has been spot on. I crave the wonton soup and have never had such satisfying balls of meat that are well seasoned and reheat well. Fam enjoys their orange and sesame chicken dishes. Beef and broccoli is tender and veggies firm and crispy. And somehow in person everything goes up another notch. Which is something since to-go has been stellar in itself. I always come here at least 1x a month. Great service and amazing hot, fresh dim sums and entrees. I recommend all of the dim sum, salt & pepper pork or shrimp, honey walnut shrimp, duck, beef chow fun, and fried rice. Their hot chili oil is sooo good and their hot mustard with their dim sum. I heard that Cafe Anh Hong makes all of their own Dim Sum and doesn't buy it frozen like other places here in SLC. I have been coming here for many years and was never impressed by their Dim Sim. Decided to give it another try and still have the mindset that it wasn't that great. New Golden Dragon has a better larger selection even though theirs are all frozen and steamed were much better than the Dim Sum at Cafe Anh Hong. My advice is do not come here if you are absolutely starving. You will not get your food in a timely manner, especially when they are busy. They are a mom n pop type of restaurant where their food is freshly made, which is great, but it will take forever for you to get your food. Also, do not have high expectations on the service. They will not ask you how your food is, if you need a water refill or anything. I lowered my expectations with all of that in mind, and had very high hopes about the food upon reading other reviews and hearing about it from some friends. We ordered 6 dim sum items (one of which never came) and the beef chow fun upon recommendation from our server since they make their own flat rice noodles there. The shrimp rice roll, fried taro ball, and the shrimp & chive fried dumpling were probably the best things we ordered. The har gao skin was a little over cooked and soft. The shiu mai was salty. The beef chow fun was salty and very oily, and the noodles were a tad bit too soft (didn't have the nice bounce and chewiness that typical chow fun has). I would love to go back at a slower time of day (and not on a weekend or holiday) to give it another try and hope that we'll have a better experience. read more

Have been eagerly awaiting their new location since they closed during the pandemic a year ago! As expected, they did not disappoint! Their grand opening was last week, due to covid, currently providing paper plates and cups. Salt and pepper squid, a must have for me in every Chinese restaurant, delicious. Potstickers, made in house and have that great chew of handmade dough. Vegetables, the quality of their daily veggie is always fresher than a lot of the Chinese restaurants in the area. Walking in an hour before closing always intimates me. With cravings kicking in I chose to test my luck. To my surprise I enjoyed the food more than I thought I would. The dim sum was fresh and hot. I ordered the shrimp har gow - shrimp dumplings, the pork shumai, shrimp leek dumpling, and the shrimp rice roll for the dim sum portion. I also got their chicken with the sautéed green beans in Szechuan sauce. On their menu, it states that it is spicy. I did not feel the heat in this dish. I got ham fried rice which was an extra $3.50, that was a little disappointing as I felt that I should've gotten more rice. The service was a little off as I felt there was a language barrier that made it a little bit awkward for both parties. I also noticed that quite a few tables were still not cleaned up. Maybe because of the time? As I was getting ready to leave I noticed a child bussing tables! He seemed pretty well behaved, however, it was surprising to me to see this. We wanted to try out a dim sum spot in Salt Lake and saw this spot had a 4 star review so decided to go here. We were meeting our friends at 5pm on a Saturday and were a bit nervous when there were no customers there and the staff were hanging out. But after a while, people slowly trickled in. I was a bit sad because they didn't have the regular dim sum cart, but we got many of our fav dim sum off the menu. We had the sweet pork bun, which was delightful and a pleasant way to get into dim sum if you've never had it before. Shumai is always a must. Har kow, which is a yummy little clear shrimp bun is always so good if you're into shrimp. And rice roll which is a wide flat rice noodle, usually filled with shrimp or pork and soy sauces up is what I always love. And I always get the beef chow fun--flat wide noodles with soy sauce, beef, veggies--which this place does a little differently with more bean sprouts and it was delicious. If I had been with a larger group, I would've gotten two of everything on the menu but didn't feel as gluttonous or ambitious tonight. The food was delicious. Customer service was a bit rough. I wondered if the waiter just didn't speak as much English so conversation was minimal, but soft skills were a little lacking. We order off the menu for things like west lake beef soup (which they may call if something else to cater to other cultures), & tomato beef chow mein (hong Kong style crispy noodles). This is another hidden gem that has legit Chinese dishes I'm used to. The service is good (not great) but it never is great at a Chinese restaurant with good food. I will not recommend this restaurant at all. Last Sunday, I drove to Salt Lake City with my friends during the Labor Day holiday. I am from Taishan, so I saw this restaurant recommended by Yelp, so I went to try it. To be honest, we were disappointed after the trial, we ordered lamb brisket pot, fried tofu, squid stir-fried with vegetables, char siu, dry stir-fried beef river, and some dim sum. The dim sum is quite qualified, except for the fried leek pancake, which is small and tastes bad. After the dough is pastry, you can't taste the fillings at all. The most unsatisfactory thing is that the menu says that the lamb brisket pot is $14.95, and the bill shows it is $18. After talking to the waiter, he explained that the price on the computer has been changed, but the boss forgot to change it on the menu. , but we still have to pay 18 yuan. I just think you are not cheating consumers? If your computer says 50 dollars and 100 dollars do I still have to pay? In North America this is deceiving consumers. The restaurant uses paper plates and red plastic cups. Ugh. Inside, the air smelled of cigarette smoke. The employees of the restaurant were standing in front of the restaurant's front door smoking. I asked for stir-fried green beans with ground pork, and I got stir-fried green beans with sliced red roast pork that was overly sweet and didn't go with the green beans at all. The dim sum was pretty good. However, the ambiance comes across as shockingly cheap. I felt sorry for the owner because it was like going into a business that can't afford to be open anymore. Cafe Anh Hong is a great little gem in a strip mall off of state street. While it is pretty unassuming outside, their food is amazing and is completely reasonably priced. The family that owns it is always in there with their kids and it really has a very authentic feel to it. On Sundays they have dim sum carts and have a good variety of options. We always get the sui mai, har gow, shrimp and leek dumplings, spare ribs, and their baked pork buns are to die for. Dim sum is around $2.60 a plate. I would also highly recommend their homemade noodle soups! Perfect for a cold day and this is my go to when I am sick! They are huge portions for around $8-12! This is the definition of a hole in the wall but I've now been here three times before I wrote this review. Let's just start with saying I'll go here time and time again for cheap Chinese food even though the place looks interesting and not appealing from the inside or out. The food is quality for sure! You can fill up on only $15 and have food left over to take home. I always get a dish and an appetizer. Sadly, I haven't figured out how to order the dim sum, but it's all good. One day I'll get it figured out and I'll take advantage of what everyone says is amazing! The cream cheese Rangoon is sweet so don't expect something savory or you'll be disappointed. Noodles. Get their noodles. It's their new menu item--came out about a couple months ago. Dude, noodles & broth are pretty much the same piping hot goodness no matter what you get, but the toppings vary. Noodles are homemade, just the right amount of chewy, and goes really well with everything. Bowls start off at $6.95 & go up in price depending on which toppings you choose. If you get the pecking duck noodles ($10.95, add wontons for $1 more), dumpling noodles, chashu noodles, beef stew noodles, mixed mushrooms, and so on. I uploaded pics, so check them out. Portions are huge. I came in hungry & was full after half the bowl--when I ate the leftovers after, it was still good! Peking duck wasn't crispy and was more like just roasted duck with a lot of fat. The wontons had a juicy meaty center, a very thin wonton skin (I heard that's traditional), and was PIPING HOT (it hurt to eat a whole one...if you're like me, cut them in half or quarter then eat). Still super good, but I'll keep the noodle bowls basic for the sake of fatty plaque build-up prevention. I came in & it was pretty empty--after tasting everything, I was surprised at the few number of people there. It's really a hidden gem & is probably going get popular via word of mouth--they don't advertise & I can see why...their noodles speak for themselves. Service is good with constant water & tea refills (hot tea was free). There is some language barrier, but the waiter will speak with you in his best English. He's helpful & very nice. He'll recommend certain things that he thinks is good & help you alter your entree as much as you want. ---- Came back for Round #2 lunch time the next day. My friend decided to order the wontons after she had ordered the item wanting it to be an add-on like dinner the night before. Nope--it bumped from $1 to $6 (keep in mind the noodles cost $8). I think they need to figure out pricing & so forth. The soup/noodles weren't quite as good either (but not bad). -1 Star for inconsistencies in price & taste. Tip #1: If you're going to take leftovers home, make sure you ask for two containers & separate your noodles & broth (don't take shortcuts, not even with leftovers *I'm looking at you, food inhalers*). Tip #2: This is NOT ramen. Do not come here thinking it's ramen otherwise you'll be disappointed if you were expecting one thing & getting another. I saw pictures of someone calling it ramen (then again the person who called it ramens said it was the best ramen ever lol), but it's not. It's like calling pad thai, chow mein--completely different. Tip #3: Get their bbq buns (NOT the steamed one, get the roasted one--only available Sat & Sun). It's super yummers & makes a great appetizer & food to-go. My family's favorite go to spot for dim sum! We also order other dishes and always end up with a lot of leftovers. On Sundays (until early afternoon-ish), they bring out the cart so it's easier to order dim sum on the spot. You can also order it on any other day, though -- it might just be a little harder if you're unfamiliar with the different dim sum dishes, but (I think) they have a dim sum menu that makes it easier.
