The inviting space at Cafe Babu is delightful! It's an Indian-Mediterranean shop with coffee in the morning and cocktails and wine in the afternoon/evening. I stopped in the morning and had a hot chocolate (not a coffee drinker) and a plain croissant. I was tempted by the rose pistachio cake though, which was beautiful. The outdoor space is lovely, and I wished it hadn't been so cold so I could have taken advantage. The indoor is inviting and after ordering at the counter, I found a seat. The staff was kind enough to bring my items to me. The croissant was very buttery and flaky. It was nice. I arrived shortly after opening (on a Saturday) and found a seat without issue. By the time I left around 9:20, it was filling up and people were waiting for a seat. So arrive early! read more

Great coffee shop addition to the area! The atmosphere is very unique and they have plenty of outdoor seating which will be nice in the warmer months. Both times we have come the service/employees have been exceptional. We tried a few different items (latte, cappuccino, baklava, spiced chocolate cookie). I really enjoyed the cappuccino, and both the cookie + baklava were top notch. I do hope they bring out some more options for food like breakfast sandwiches with eggs, but they aren't really a traditional American spot so that might be asking for too much! The specialty cardamom latte was DELICIOUS! Just WOW. Great coffee. Cafe Babu has done a nice job advertising because I had seen a lot about it online and have been wanting to try for a while. So glad I did!! The interior has a clay/cave feel to it? It's pretty unique! There's natural light peering in and lots of outdoor seating options as well. The woman who took my order was super kind and patient to answer my questions. I got a free sample of baklava which was also delicious, and would love to try more of the food another time. My only slight complaints are: there's not a tonnn of seating for how many people were there (but it worked), the bathroom lighting was a bit dark, and there were some spider webs and dust by the bench I was sitting at inside. Such a unique addition to Nashville! Unlike other "instagram/tiktok" places this one actually delivers in terms of the goods it offers. The chai is perfectly balanced and authentic, and not overly sweet which I appreciate! I really like their sparkling lemonade and that I can ask for light sweetener, it is refreshing on hot days and so tasty! All of my friends really liked the coffee. Everyone is very friendly and make you feel looked after. The place is clean, it can get a little crowded depending on the time and day but otherwise it is easy to work from there. Super cute place looks like a cave inside. Reminds you of a place you'd find in California or something. Very different for Nashville, I love it. We ordered the babu latte, cold brew, cinnamon almond pastry and a spiced chocolate cookie. The pastry was good had good flavor a little dry though,the cookie was good they used good chocolate , but not sure if I'd get it again. Cafe Babu is such a great addition to Nashville and it's quickly becoming a favorite of ours! We stopped in for the first time in February and the coffee is very, very good; they're the only shop in town that makes a freddo cappuccino (Greek cappuccino), which is something we adore. The Babu latte is also really good and the cardamom pairs well with the coffee and the cortado is also delicious. I got the parfait and a chocolate croissant. the parfait had a rich yogurt and super good toppings like raspberries and almonds. the almonds added a very nice crunch. the chocolate croissant was perfectly moist. You step in, and you're transported to a Greek grotto serving well-executed European and Mediterranean pastries, with delicate flavors of the Middle East and India woven in. We both ordered the Babu Latte. We both remarked out loud that it was way better than it needed to be. A touch of cardamom in the perfectly brewed espresso, with the frothed milk on top. It came with a small sliver of baklava, to make matters even better! My pain-au-chocolat was the best I've had outside of Paris. And the other pastry we ordered looked like a cinnamon roll but had a subtle cardamom flavor whipped into the pastry and its frosting. Exquisite stuff, to say the least. I had such high hopes for the coffee. It was pretty flat, not a lot of depth. Love the aesthetic, love the coffee, love the pastries from Village but it will take an adjustment period until the hype dies down a little bit to enjoy the coffee shop as it was intended but this is great to cover being in a spot that I think will thrive when all the developments around it get finished. What works for this place is the quality of the coffee and that's where you build your foundation. Their service was great considering how many people they have in the queue, they have enough staff walking around delivering drinks and food if you're not inside of the cafe. My addiction to iced americanos is real, tried to get something unique to the Babu but either way, I was given a delicious coffee. I also ordered the turkey brie with pear sandwich. It was sweeter than I expected but it paired perfectly well with my black coffee. I was just going to stop by before hitting the road again, however it wasn't crowded at all, as I got there quite early, and the ambiance was so pleasant, that I stayed and finished listening to a couple of podcasts. One of my favorite coffee spots in Nashville. I love their parfait, I even tried recreating it at home. It's soooo delicious and call me weird but I think the spoon is so cool. I included a pic. Anyway, it's a really cool vibe inside. It honestly reminds me of the Star Wars land cantina at Disney. They're always so friendly and there's plenty of seating outside if you don't get lucky inside.
