Cappuccino with almond milk
Cris L.

This place never disappoints. Consistently good coffee, quick service, and friendly faces every time. The best selection of pastries! I love the Apricot Croissants. Highly recommend supporting this local gem. Ambiance and music is very calming.

This is my favorite cafe in all of Santa Monica! The hot lattes are so so good. You must try if you live in the area. Such a great spot to grab a coffee with a friend. The owner is also so sweet and hard working and the place is very beautiful. There is even a German club here!

bear latte and apricot croissant

Cute coffee shop that's around the corner from UCLA Santa Monica medical center. I dropped by to get a latte and pastry then went home but I wish I could have stayed longer! Their coffee is wonderful - I recommend the bear latte and they have a large selection of pastries. The decorations are pretty and it feels like a good spot to read a book or do some work!

pistachio cardamom latte

Cute coffee shop with a little bit of Germany, France, and Italy all rolled into one. The ham and cheese croissant was absolute perfection, so much so that I forgot to take a picture. I also tried Italian shortbread cookies - plain and apricot - both of which were good but the apricot is the most popular option for a reason. Everything paired nicely with the pistachio cardamom latte. I enjoyed the classical music as well. Chef's kiss!

Cardamom pastry and Americano

Stopped in about noon on a weekday, and immediately felt welcome. The space is charming and clean, the menu varies to a small degree, and food is brought in fresh. The prices are very good, considering the location; I was surprised, pleasantly. I also looked that they can accept cash. I got an Americano, black, and a pastry with cardamom, the last one there. The coffee was just strong enough (an Americano is often too watery). The pastry was delightful, light, flaky, fresh, a nice mix of flavors without any one being overbearing. I'm frequently at UCLA around the corner, and SGI Buddhist HQ a few blocks away, will definitely be back!

Mocha and cappuccino, extra hot
Stefani T.

Cute and quaint cafe near the hospital on Wilshire. Ordered two beverages for the road, both extra hot... Mocha...3 stars. Comes already sweetened of which I'm not a fan. Lots of foam for a mocha. Cappuccino...4 stars. Better but still mild Space...4 stars. Bright and spacious inside. There's seating outside but limited on the sidewalk.

We tried the cinnamon roll (OMG) the almond croissant, the blueberry scone, the pain au chocolat, banana bread, and a savory jambon Gruyère pastry (sooo good). There are literally no bad choices. The bakery is warm and welcoming, and the aroma of baked goods hits you before you even get in the door. The space is tight but they move people in and out quickly. At around 11am there were a few sold out pastries being made (chocolate croissant, cinammon roll) but I was able to snag the last cardamom roll. There was also a bit of a line but it passed pretty quickly. The roll was very good! I paired it with an iced americano and it was an elite combo. Great balance of sweet and coffee. I'm excited to stop by again and try the other options. However, my friend did order and iced vanilla latte and specifically asked if it could be made less sweet. He doesn't like sweet drinks so he made sure to ask for the modification of it barely being sweet. When he drank the latte, it was very very sweet. They were a bit busy so I can understand the possible miscommunication. I would come back for the pastries for sure, but maybe not the coffee. Overall, I had a pretty good experience! I will be returning for the great pastries!

Background On Visit: I was primarily going to RWT (Pokemon Card Shop) Collective on the second floor of the plaza, Something about the line and a average of 5 stars on their yelp page made me want to patronize the shop. So I did. Credit Cards: They're accepted. Restroom: Didn't see a restroom. :) Wait Time: Can be long. Luckily, I didn't wait long when I patronized the shop. Location/Parking: Located in a plaza on the NW corner of Sawtelle Blvd. and W. Olympic. There's a couple of shared 15 minute parking spots in the parking lot, paid parking structure, or meter parking along Olympic, Sawtelle, or surrounding streets. I did find a secret place with free 2 hour parking on the NE corner of Purdue Ave. and Olympic Blvd.. :) Ambiance/Decor: Neat ambiance with a few modern furnishings to sit, eat, and enjoy ones company. Service: Service was great! Tera (staffer) was very nice, attentive, offered great suggestions, and was quite informative about the shop. She also informed me that I was able to get two complimentary macarons. Patisserie Of Choice: 1) Blossom: Consisted of vanilla mousse, pistachio/red berries insert, pistachio crunch, and pistachio sponge. It was too pretty to eat, but I ate it anyways. So good and soo yum! 2) Roche: Consisted of hazelnut mousse, house made praline combined with soft caramel, hazelnut sponge. Taste like a Ferrer Rocher! It's very dense and sweet, but great to eat. Not something I'll have all the time. Macarons Of Choice : I got the Cookies and Cream and pistacio. They were both good. Artelice Patisserie For Thought: Wouldn't mind coming back. I have meetings here, casual lunches, meet-ups of one sort or another. It pains me to give it only one star in terms of service. This is the 3rd time I've experienced being overlooked standing in line to order, by the same wait person - a young man, bright smile, animated personality. The 3rd time, unfortunately, is the charm and I will have to give Jyan Issac a pass! Each instance has involved, first, simply not being seen (i.e., invisible) standing in line. In this recent moment, I'm in line wearing an orange hat, red sunglasses, an orange tee shirt and at least 3 inches taller than woman standing behind me! I am a black woman. The young man and the woman know each other, start a friendly conversation and then he proceeds to take her order. When he finally recognizes he'd skipped over me, he stops and takes my order. He struggles when it comes to even listening to my order. I always have to repeat myself and still, often unsuccessful. I say, "to go" and it comes out plated to eat in. I say, "not toasted" and he has to ask again. Same guy. Same story. He always apologizes profusely and gives me a free pastry to compensate. I've gotten 3 free pastries, same reason, same person. These kinds of consistent occurrences would spark a more animated response from some folks, justifiably. However "nice" this server is, he also seems unable to see me in front of him. I do intend to share this pattern of customer service with my multicultural circle of friends and colleagues, who also love this place.
