I understand an elevated fast food option, cubby's is one of my wife's favorite flavors. Tonight was horrible. I ordered a burger, fries and a salad. I watched my fries and burger die in a heat lamp that was not apparently on for over 15 minutes as I wait for my wife's salad. Yes you read that correctly, I watched fries and a burger sit over 15 mins for a salad. 6 employees were preparing for close 45 mins before close, mopping sweeping and feeding each other cookies as I jealously watched them. Cubby's is a decent choice for fast vegetarian food near where I was recently staying while visiting in the area. The concept is cute, too. A meat eater and vegatarian married and wanted to open an eatery with things both of them were interested in eating. I chose a cup of tomato basil soup with coconut shavings and a loaded grilled cheese for an early lunch one day during my trip. The coconut shavings on the soup was a little weird but I thought it tasted good regardless. I thought the grilled cheese was delicious and had fresh veggies sliced up inside, crisp and tasty. They were not soggy, even with the melted cheese. Don't ask me how. When they get too soggy, me no likee. Service here is quick, but I kind of see what people mean in their reviews about it being lackluster. It gets the job done at least. There are tables and booths in the dining area, and you'll need to look at the menu on the walls as you wait in line before you go up to order. At the soda fountain they had Barq's red cream soda, which I had never seen before. I don't typically drink full sugar sodas because they're too syrupy, but I wanted to try this weird new to me flavor, and I'm glad I did. It was kinda like strawberries and cream? But maybe I was imagining the strawberries because it was red in color? I dunno. Cool that they had it. I still don't understand fry sauce, but their chipotle version was tasty. I would come to Cubby's again if I was craving more fast casual setting, veggie friendly options in the area. They have a handful of vegan choices too. It seemed to mostly just be quinoa and salad, so if you're vegan and looking for something more hearty, Cubby's might not do it based on what they have available at the time For example, black bean burgers and avocado toast were "out" when I was there, even though they were on the menu. We love this place! We recently figured out that our daughter has gluten sensitivity so it was great to have some gluten free options. Rosanna was awesome and helped us understand what they had available and could tailor for our needs. She also recommended the Contractor fries and they did not disappoint! This place is so inconsistent that I have a love-hate relationship with it. Not sure if it is the slow unorganized staff (before COVID) or the management that doesn't take the time to train them. Sometimes food is really good that comes with a very long wait, other times wrong items put in the to-go bag/boxes. Can't find any photos that I took so must have been perturbed to not upload. Used to come to this location a couple times a month when I lived near there. My most favorite item on the menu is the chicken poblano soup. It isn't spicy and is very flavorful. Their other items are hit and miss. Since I live far away not sure I will be coming back anytime soon. read more

Came here for lunch and I have yo say it was amazing. I got the tacos and they were mouthwateringly delicious. I also had their huckleberry shake. And wow. I've never tasted anything like it. Staff was super helpful and took our order promptly. Menu didn't really have a lot on it compared to other restaurants in the area. This may be there thing. My gypsy burger was delicious. The bun was amazing and the vegetables fresh. The food was fairly expensive for what you are getting. Salad, burger and fries, etc. for 3 peeps we were right at 60$, kid you not. While I love fresh food that is healthy, there has to be a balance between price and value. This might only be a once in a while type of stop in due to the cost. Great food, but not even a date night/fancy place vibe so the cost seemed not in align for the restaurant type. I think it's worth a stop in, and I encourage you to decide for yourself. I went with a big group last night (Thursday at about 7) and they easily accommodated us. Everyone but a couple people got their food in a timely fashion and they did notice the couple people and fix it in their own. I got the wild rice and kale to balance out a heavy lunch (I don't normally order super healthy stuff) and it was alright. My complaint is that the flavor was pretty heavy on cumin? I could be wrong on the spice but it just didn't match the other flavors. My friend shared some maple sweet potato fries and they were amazing as usual. Now for the part where I tell you why this is by far the best food and sandwich I've been eaten-and I love sandwiches and have eaten many many of them. I ordered the tri steak elcaliente sandwich. Amazing perfectly toasted bread, perfectly holding tender tasty steak topped with a sweet yet spicy sauce which complimented the tiny light green home grown jalepenos on top, it was picture perfect, but the flavor and the freshness of the sandwich is what will leave you floored. I often see in movies and even shows where the music comes on and it's almost a love scene between the guy and the food, this was that moment. I'm not changing the rating because I do enjoy their food. But, I tried the Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich and was underwhelmed. The chicken was juicy, but not hot (spicy) or very crispy. The entire flavor profile of the sandwich, including the spicy oil, Tarragon aioli, and citrus vinaigrette was weak. It presented beautifully but the hoped for flavor wasn't there. I'm also so disappointed that the Citrus Kale Salad was removed from the menu. Please bring it back! And the Tetonka sandwich. Fries are still good. I'm eager to try the other new menu items or stick with my other, still-existing favorites: Cockadoodledo (sandwich), Tri-Tip Steak salad, and The Mr. Beef (sandwich). read more

Fresh clean good tasting food. They don't have a extensive menu but everything on it has been crafted to perfection. Only downside is the price combined with the smaller portions. The burgers here are also delicious, but a bit smaller than your average hamburger. The Dragonslayer is my go to with some Buffalo sauce, bacon and blue cheese. I'd recommend the grilled cheese because just check out this description from the menu: Swiss, Cheddar & Pepper Jack on Cranberry White Bread with Spring Mix, Tomatoes, Avocado, Smoked Bacon, Caramelized Onions and Balsamic Vinegar. I have been growing frustrated with this Cubb'y location for a while. I eat here frequently (Seriously, at least once a week) because I love the wild rice and kale salad. - Recently, the salad has been outrageously inconsistent, with ratios of ingredients or even the size of the salad (I ordered a regular towards the end of the day, and I am guessing they were running out of items because I got half of what a whole salad should be.) Regardless, the breaking point was finding part of a bug in my salad today. - It is frustrating to pay $16 for a salad that, at best, is inconsistent and, at worse, an experience like this. - I also tried to reach out to the email that is provided on many of these negative reviews (this was three days ago) and never heard anything back. The tri-tip salad, wild rice chicken salad, tri-tip sandwich and sweet potato fries are some of my favorite menu items here. I would recommend dining inside if you can. The drive thru wait has been abnormally long lately and apparently it's because they're short staffed after COVID. If you're ever at the Jazz Arena you can also get their food there. Other items I have tried are the blueberry ricotta pancakes which are a chef's kiss and the berry smoothie. I love their chipotle dipping sauce as well. read more
