I'm very beyond angry with this cafe. My boyfriend and I checked out of the Westin today and I bought two ham and cheese sandwiches to enjoy on our way home. I couldn't see the sandwiches very well since they were packaged in a plastic box and heavily wrapped in saran wrap, which would be okay normally. However, when I opened the box to one of the sandwiches halfway home, I found that the cheese on this sandwich was furry and covered in mold. I was disgusted and threw the sandwiches away. So, we went home hungry after spending almost $30 on two sandwiches. Not only are they overpriced, but they were inedible. Also, I don't know how they would be able to tell whether these sandwiches are bad or not because the packaging had NO expiration labels on them. When I worked at Starbucks, ALL of our food was labeled with the day it was put out to customers and when to throw it away. That's not even the end of it. When I got home, I decided to call the hotel to report this. I wasn't expecting a refund since this is a small hotel cafe and I'm a state away. I just wanted to find out why this happened and make sure it doesn't happen again. Because what if someone doesn't spot the mold and eats it and ends up getting sick. So, a hotel representative picked up and sounded sentimental to my situation. However, she told me that the cafe is a 3rd party so she will have to transfer me to the cafe itself. Which would have been okay but I sat there with the phone ringing for over 20 minutes. At that point, I just hung up. Other than that, the coffee made me sick so the milk could have been expired too. Who knows. Please don't eat the food here. I don't want anyone to waste their money, get sick, or both.

The last time we were here, it was during a busy lunch and both the service and the food were below par. But tonight, it wasn't as busy and our server, Geovani, was excellent. First, we were quickly greeted and asked to select our table (since they were not that busy). Since there was only two of us, we picked a table for two. But, after we decided that we would split an appetizer and an entree, the table for two became way to small way too quickly. Geovani jumped right on this, suggesting we move to a larger table. He helped us move everything over and, voila, we were able to stretch out and relax and enjoy our meal. We started with the pear and blue cheese salad and, wow, we could have just ordered this, split it, and we would have been full. Very flavorful, generous portion that is definitely big enough to share. We also ordered the Sausage & Leek Fettuccine and I was definitely not thinking. Totally forgetting that leeks are part of the onion family (and I have a sensativity to onions). Once the dish arrive, I immediately noticed the similarity and was slowly trying to pick them away from my portion. Once again, Geovani came to our rescue. He asked how everything was and I told him I made a mistake (noted above). He quickly volunteered to have the kitchen make it again without the leeks. I asked, "Are you sure?", and he immediately said yes and removed the dish. Very shortly after, he returned with the "onion sterile" dish and it was wonderful. Both of us were so full you could have rolled us out the door. Good thing the parking garage is so close so we could just hop in our car and go home. Time to loosen the belt! ;) In a week where we have had some personal issues, it was so nice to be treated so well and received such a great tasting meal. Hope you get the time to stop in and I hope you get Giovani to answer all your questions and issues. Enjoy!!!

Absolutely the worst…read more The place is left to be run by a bunch of un professional staff. Came to sit down and despite the place having many tables, the person by the door insisted that we have all of party present to seat us, which is understandable if they are busy but they were not even 50% full, when I said my brother was right there walking down the street, he insisted to hold his ground. Then literally 30 seconds later my brother is here, then I tell him he is right right there, he goes "ok, I will let you know when a table is ready", why not use stove common sense & say that a table is not even ready? Sounds like steering maybe because of the 4 kids ? Maybe something else? Very rude and I'm acceptable behavior. Then to add to it, turns out I was talking to the manager "Ello", who is acting in your face and challenging you more like a night club bouncer than a "manager" at a cafe....

I had read reviews mentioning a sign-in sheet and noticed a yellow notebook on the wall, but before we even got to it, one of the servers greeted us warmly and asked how many were in our party. He let us know there were two tables available and let us choose where we wanted to sit, which was nice and easy. To drink, I ordered the Sunrise, which is lemonade and orange juice mixed together. It tasted exactly like what it sounds like, refreshing, but nothing super memorable. For food, I ordered the breakfast burger with truffle fries. The truffle fries were good and came with a honey mustard dipping sauce that I actually really liked. I almost wanted to ask them what brand they use. The burger had very fresh ingredients and didn't taste bad at all, but overall it was pretty basic. I do think it could've used a little more sauce, though thankfully it wasn't dry because of the avocado, tomato, onion, and other toppings. My friend ordered the catfish and waffle with two wings on the side, and honestly her food seemed to be the standout. I tried some of the catfish and it was flavorful and well seasoned. She really enjoyed her meal and ate most of it. Overall, I wouldn't say the food was bad at all. Everything tasted exactly as described on the menu. For me personally, there just wasn't anything that made me want to come back and explore more of the menu. But if you're looking for a casual breakfast/brunch spot in Inglewood with friendly service and decent food, it's worth trying at least once.

Because of that, I came to Café Reu with modest expectations, but I was pleasantly surprised. The first thing that stood out to me was the concept. This isn't your typical Guatemalan restaurant--it's a café with a modern, aesthetic vibe and a very welcoming atmosphere. The space is beautifully designed, cozy, and definitely Instagram-worthy. As for the food, I'd give it a solid 7/10. Some dishes are well executed, while others don't quite match the authentic flavors I grew up with. That said, the presentation is excellent. It's clear that a lot of care goes into how each dish is plated, and that attention to detail really elevates the overall experience. What I appreciated most was the concept itself. Café Reu isn't trying to be just another traditional Guatemalan restaurant; it's offering a modern take inspired by Guatemala, and I think it does that very well. I'll definitely be back--and in fact, I'm already planning my next visit.

I stopped by for a late breakfast/brunch with my partner and two friends. It was my first visit. We found parking easily, but it could be due to the holiday. The place itself is clean, open and has minimalist decor that lends to a welcoming vibe featuring some really cool photography on the walls. The menu is definitely pared down, but there is variety enough for various moods and tastes. I had the avocado toast minus goat cheese and a raspberry (I believe) hibiscus iced tea. The pricing is fair for an individual-owned restaurant. I didn't experience any bad service and even when the gent calling out names had to repeat mine because I wasn't sure I'd heard right, he wasn't annoyed at all. Everyone I interacted with was friendly and cool. I am not being dramatic when I say this may be the best avocado toast I've ever had. The portion was a single slice of toast, but it was loaded high with fresh, delicately arranged ingredients. It wasn't too salty, which a lot of places make the mistake of making avo toast. It along with the delicious tea was literally the best first meal of the year I could imagine. The bathroom was clean and also featured more of that same rad photography inside on the walls. All in all, a truly wonderful experience! Walking back to the car past a dude playing conga drums and others just outside enjoying the day added to a wonderfully community-based feeling. I recommend! And I will likely be pin ring people in the direction of this place if they're in LA proper for the avocado toast alone! I devoured it before taking a photo, but I will get one the next time we visit!
