Cafe Borrone is a great place to have brunch/lunch with your family and friends! There's tons of outdoor seating with umbrellas for shade. You order at the counter and servers will bring you out your food. If you order a coffee drink, you'll have to pick it up yourself at a separate drink counter. My family and I got the Breakfast Wrap, Smoked Salmon on an Onion Bagel, and Egg and Potato wrap. The wraps are pretty filling and I only was able to eat half of one. I think there was a little too much sour cream and the foods could have used more salt. But the eggs were cooked perfectly. Great selection of pastries and drinks as well! The chocolate chip cookie was HUGE!! and delicious. The lemon tart was such a treat! The creamy lemon curd filling was not too sweet and it paired well with the crust. read more

Been meaning to trying this place. Parking is underground and you enter on the side street. We didn't know but plenty of street parking that's not on ECR (a good thing). Area seems ok, but gosh there were so many homeless walking around. But that's everywhere, I guess. Service was awesome. You order first and then they bring you your food. Plenty of outdoor seating if you bring your dog. Food was really good. Their waffles were sooo fluffy and not heavy. I was really worried about that and why i don't usually order waffles. We used to love this place but the food quality has dropped significantly since last year. My boyfriend got granolas and they brought him a bowl full of granola which he couldn't swallow. He ask for milk, and it was cold milk on top of dry granola and not much effort for $10!! I ordered plain scrambled eggs and it was so cold I could hardly finish it. We were seated inside so it wasn't any cold weather affecting it and I am not sure how long it was sitting to be served. Also, the quality of scrambled eggs was not impressive. They used to bring toast with eggs and now it's a side so they charge $4 for toast which is strange because anywhere you go for breakfast, they at least bring toast with it so you can order something else as a side. The BEST waffle I've ever had. I'd go here only for the freshly squeezed OJ and waffle. It's PERFECT. The process here is: you get in line to place the order (The line does get very long over the weekend during brunch hours, so be prepared for that). After you've paid and get a number for your oder, you can go grab a table outside whichever you find open and then the server will bring the food to you when it's ready. Came here for brunch on a Sunday. In terms of parking there is a parking garage under the restaurant that you can park for two hours for FREE! It was quite busy as there was no seating inside. There is adequate seating outside however. This place has an open outside seating patio. It's not as much of a restaurant, it is a cafe. So there is no ordering at the table, you must go to the counter order, and they will give you a marker to have the food delivered to your table once you pay. There is a wide assortment of beverages, food options, and pastries one can order. The options all seemed quite tasty and varied. They have a water station at the end of the bar where you can get your own water. I really liked that. My friends and I sat outside. One of the waiters wiped down the table for us. We waited for about 15 minutes before our food came out. The food presentation was great. And the condiments that came with the meal was also brought out when the waiter brought our food. If there were condiments you wanted like hot sauce, ketchup, salt and pepper, they had those at the bar as well. I got the French toast and I got the number one egg scramble. The number one was eggs potatoes and onions made into a scramble. The French toast was amazing. The bread used was thick and fluffy and the French toast was prepared to perfection. It was not soggy it was very crispy. There was also a French vanilla Bean butter that came with the French toast which was amazing as well. You could honestly eat the better by itself because it's that good. Again I don't think anyone can go wrong with eggs, but the eggs were scrambled, they were well done. The potatoes were also done it had a very nice texture and the onions were also sautéed well. Nothing was burned. The eggs also had thyme in it. The time was an excellent addition as it brought out more flavor in the eggs. Overall, I really enjoyed my brunch here today. The food was really good. The portion sizes were also pretty good. The cost was decent for the area. The staff was very friendly and very helpful. The atmosphere is very family-friendly and is a great place to have breakfast or lunch or brunch! My recommendations are veggie melt, french toast, and fresh squeezed juice. The juice has lots of pulp which I love and it tastes very healthy and naturally sweet. No artificial sugar taste. Veggie melt is very heavy (and flavorful) with lots of cheese and pesto sauce on the top of veggies. I shared it with my boyfriend which was right amount of fat for me. French toast is legit. Solid 4 stars We ordered a cappuccino, the B. B. burrito, the banana pancakes and a cookie. The presentation was really awesome. Everything looked very appetizing and was nicely plated. Not the best. While the cookie, hmm, this was just weird. If they served this cookie at disney and called it The Little Mermaid's Chocolate Chip Sand Cookie I swear to god it would be the biggest hit and would go youtube viral in minutes. Had a lunch meeting at Cafe Borrone recently and was not disappointed. The outdoor seating is perfect for enjoying a nice day. The coffee drinks and brunch cocktails always look so festive and inviting. Tried the chicken pot pie last time I was here, tasty and comforting, packed with plenty of veggies and chicken. The sauce was nicely seasoned and delicious. Another person in my party tried the fish sandwich, also looked good. Great place for lunch of brunch. Great location, right next to Caltrain. Coffee, pastries and breakfast options are plentiful here and their dishes are delicious and consistent. The cashiers help you decide and are welcoming and friendly. My normal order is their French toast with strawberries and scrambled eggs, which I share. You can order a half or full order of French toast and it's hard to resist not ordering a full order. The large slices of brioche toast are fluffy and crispy on the edges and this is a consistently delicious choice. It's also hard not to grab a pastry to go and their berry scones and croissants are my favorite's. You can sit indoor or outside and they bring your order to you. The servers are also friendly. Parking is easy in the garage below if you come early and plan ahead. Street parking is available, but can fill up since the cafe is next to the Menlo Park Caltrain station. read more

Borrone really is a Menlo Park institution. Period. I have been coming here for 30 years (am I really that old?) and they are still just killing it in my opinion. It's a great courtyard cafe vibe. Order at the counter, grab your drink from the coffee bar and have a seat. You get a table number if you ordered food and a server brings it out to your table. Food is great. Paste ties and breakfast items abound. I have popped in to grab a coffee on the go but usually when I come to Borrone it's because I want to sit and linger over my coffee, chat with friends or just chill. I have never felt rushed here. The line to order can be long, but that's ok, lots of seating and you are here to hang out. Parking downstairs in the underground lot is ample but it does fill up with crowds. I don't usually have a problem finding a spot. If you come here, you have to get the Frosted Mocha. There really is nothing like it. It's a coffee milkshake, no it's way more than a coffee milkshake, it's amazing! Please don't forget to get it with the house made whipped cream piped on from a bag this is no canned off the shelf drink. This is a Cafe Borrone signature item! Not to be missed. I unfortunately don't live near Borrone anymore but when I am in town, and I am here often, I always make some time to sit and chill at Borrone. read more
