There's almost always a line so don't be deterred. It moves quickly. Get a number and then find a table inside or outside on their sprawling patio. We found a shaded outdoor table and our food was brought out to us pretty quickly. It's Acme pan de mie dipped into the house vanilla bean custard. It's served with house made vanilla bean whipped butter and maple syrup. I also really enjoy their organic potatoes sautéed with onion and thyme. For lunch, you really can't go wrong with the Shrimp Salad, Organic Beet Salad, Zoe's Turkey Sandwich on Baguette, Veggie Melt, Fish Sandwich, and Pappardelle & Mushroom. It's all amazing and delicious. For dessert, my favorite thing is their carrot cake. It's amazing. I always order "to-go" but the service I have received is friendly and quick. I had the worst experience today, all because of the owner which is really disappointing because I've been coming here almost every weekend for the past three months and genuinely loved this place. The food, the service, the vibe... everything had always been great. Today, I brought some friends for brunch. A few of them were running a bit late, so we grabbed coffees from Philz and sat outside as we waited. One of the worker saw us and let us know that outside food and drinks aren't allowed, which I completely understood. She was polite, and I even felt bad about it. So we immediately went in, ordered food for everyone, spent over $200, and put our number on the table while we waited. Before the food even arrived, the owner came over and started yelling at us, saying it is "so rude" to have outside drinks and telling us to throw away our coffees. I understand the rule but the way she spoke to us was incredibly rude and completely unnecessary. Especially considering we had already ordered food and drinks for six people and were just waiting. What made it even more confusing is that we noticed several other customers with Philz coffee cups or their own tumblers, yet she only targeted us. I have no idea why she was so furious with our group. The whole interaction ruined our experience at Café Borrone. It was embarrassing, and I felt terrible that my friends had to experience that. When ordering my Belgian waffle and a coffee, the cashier asked "Whipped cream is okay on both?" I said yes, but ended up with salted butter on my waffle. It was not a tasty pairing. I scrapped as much as I could off. Without the salty surprise, it was a delicious waffle. This is a place where you walk up, order, get a number, and sit down. Thankfully I snagged a table that had partial shade. You order inside (lines are pretty long but move quickly) and they bring your food to your table. Customer service was friendly and helpful. Drinks need to be picked up at the coffee bar by you do don't forget! Here's what I ordered: BREAKFAST WRAP: just "okay" nothing special about it at all. FRUIT CUP: Sweet and delicious but mostly pineapple. QUICHE LORRAINE: this was okay. Not a ton of flavor. 1/2 ORDER OF FRENCH TOAST: perfect size but again, kinda basic. MORNING BUN: this was good. Flaky and sweet. FROSTED MOCHA: skip this. Over all I was disappointed. Did I just order the wrong things? $75 for this just seems a little high especially since nothing had any real "wow" factor for me. We pass by this place often and there always seems to be a line so we decided to give it a try. Located off of El camino with a nice view of the road. There's a decent sized parking lot who's stairs lead you to this place, very clutch because street parking isn't too likely. There are plenty of tables to sit at so you won't be discouraged or turn away. We ordered the blueberry waffle which was ideal. The savory ham and scallion waffle left me scratching my head where the meat was but it's cooked in. So don't expect too much savory. In the same breath the waffles are cooked to perfection to where syrup isn't required but it'll definitely add to the goodness of the dish lol. I had a hunch that the waffle might not be as savory that the menu suggests so I got an Italian sausage on the side. I wont lie, we left very very pleased. There was quite a wait for our food to be ready but it's more than understandable with the high amount of orders. If youre not big on breakfast like me, it wouldn't hurt to order some sides.
