If you are looking for authentic, reasonably priced Mexican food - this is the place for you! The location is small and has about 10 tables inside. It is also quite warm, but the kitchen is open to the dining area so that is to be expected. There is also patio seating available if you prefer to be outside however, it faces Grandview so traffic would be your view. We have been here a couple of times and we have never been disappointed with the food. As an added bonus, the breakfast items are available all day! We ordered the meat lovers skillet which was too much to finish even after not eating much all day and the steak chimichanga dinner which I could only eat half of. The food was flavorful and delicious. Our service was also great making sure our drinks were never empty and bringing chips and salsa refills when the basket was empty. read more

I do the try a new restaurant of the week and today was this place since I was in Waukesha. It's a Sam all place with a drive through on the side. The inside is weird because it's broken up into small rooms with big openings in the walls, weird. I was given chips and salsa to start. The chips were a third the size of regular chips and seasoned, finally a chip that fits into the small salsa bowl. The salsa was very loose but tasty. I ordered a strawberry margarita and the steak burrito dinner. The menu is big but no combination plates. The strawberry margarita was not big on strawberry favor but it wasn't weak like a lot of places. The steak burrito dinner looked good when all the colors. The steak burrito was tasty with seasoned steak but they do it differently here because it's filled with steak, green peppers and mozzarella cheese and topped with a green sauce with shredded mozzarella. The beans were good with a mixture of whole beans and blended beans. The Mexican rice is always plain so I mix the beans and salsa into them which makes them really good. Overall it's a decent Mexican restaurant and not as authentic as other places but I had a nice lunch and the place had every seat taken. read more

My brother and I were itching for some Mexican food, did some internet searching and decided on this little spot!! The menu is far more expansive than the pictures I posted. The serve breakfast, lunch , dinner and more American favorites. Upon walking in, you can hear the kitchen all speaking in Spanish and a good chunk of the other customers were all speaking Spanish too. That's how you know it's good. If it is attended by the people who are behind the establishment. My brother enjoyed his enchiladas. That is his go to order to compare between places. My tactics were excellent. I had eaten previously, the atmosphere just sucked me in and I had to try things!! Such a welcoming and friendly staff. I try my best to speak Spanish, our waitress was very kind and slowed down her Spanish so I could better understand her. The food cane out in a timely manner and nice and hot. I only had two in the restaurant, a ground beff and my chorizo taco. A good kick to the chorizo taco. I appreciate that they doubled up on the soft corn tortillas, because sometimes they can fall apart a bit easier. I will stand by my vote if this place being very authentic and fresh. One of my favorite Mexican restaurants I personally have been to. I called my dad to fill him in and he has to try if he is ever around next time if he ever comes through. My granddaughter ordered the steak taco & she gave them 3 stars, I ordered the Chile Relleno which I gave 2 stars. Barely edible. The oil in the pan must not of been hot enough because the coating was saturated with oil. I ended up scrapping the batter off of one & didn't finish the other. Needed to grab a quick lunch during the basketball game break. Decided to try this spot. It's a smaller restaurant but they have pretty good food. They don't have certain liquors or beers which was a bummer. I couldn't get a margarita because they weren't equipped to make that, so I ended up getting a Michelada. It tasted really good and was made with the beer that I wanted - so cheers to that! The chips and salsa were fresh. They're reasonable on their prices and the service was great! I really enjoyed the steak on my torta, the rice, and beans. Next time we're out there I'd come back for some authentic Mexican food. read more

WAITRESS WROTE IN AN UNAUTHORIZED 20% TIP ON MY CREDIT CARD SLIP! ***THIS IS ILLEGAL!*** I have been to this restaurant before ,but this time unfortunately I was not satisfied with the service and the food so I chose NOT to tip. I paid my bill and left. I looked at my credit card statement and saw that the waitress wrote in an UNAUTHORIZED TIP of 20%. I called the restaurant and explained the situation. The woman who answered the phone said her manager was busy and that the manager would call me back. I did not receive a phone from the manager. I am a manager myself and even if I was busy I would have got on the phone immediately to fix this situation since the employee broke the law and wrote in an unauthorized tip! I am reporting this to a higher authority because it is illegal behavior! Me and my husband used to like visiting this restaurant, but we will NOT be returning! read more

Usually we will drive a ways for our Mexican dinner enjoyment. It was late and we didn't have much time so thought we'd give The Cabin a try. I'm glad we did. While I like a variety of foods, enchiladas are a favorite. These did not disappoint. The beans and rice were tasty and as an added surprise a side of chopped lettuce and peppers were included which went well with the enchiladas. Chips and pico de galo were included and several hot sauces were on the tables. My wife had a chimichanga which she said was a new favorite. The service was pleasant and the interior cozy and clean. I ended up at this place the first time due to the taco shop down the street being out of business. I tried the chicken, pork with pineapple and full piece of steak taco (forgot the name). I was looking for mexican food near pewaukee. I called and went thru drive up to pick up within 15 min. Very helpful and friendly service. Price was average compared to other places. I ordered pork nacho, pork enchiladas and chicken tacos. The food was average, the enchiladas were seasoned well but I am use to cheese in the meat not just a bit sprinkled on top, the nachos looked great but were more refried beans that pork so it was good but disappointing and the tacos were tasty but much smaller than other places. I had the lunch taco special and the corn tortillas were stake but laden with grease and there was about a tablespoon on shredded chicken on each taco. The beans were runny and cold. My husband, son, and I stopped by for a quick lunch date and had a wonderful experience. The restaurant was clean, nicely decorated, and playing the World Cup semi-finals on their TV. Went to La Cabana based on a friend's recommendation. We were initially a little apprehensive due to the lack of yelp reviews, but WOW. I lived in central Mexico for years and haven't had tacos al pastor that were this good since then. My wife got the tacos al pastor, I had the alambre. Their pico/salsa is good but they serve with hard, dense chips...not crispy like you would expect. Cozy, locally-owned Mexican place. The menu has a high percent of American food mixed in with the Mexican dishes. We really enjoyed our dishes - the Alambre dinner and a quesadilla - and plan on going back. With a little more home-y ambiance, this could easily become my family's go-to Mexican restaurant in the Waukesha area. It is pretty bright in the restaurant. No booths, just tables, in the limited space they have. We were happy to find it to be very family-friendly. It is a relatively "young" restaurant having opened 6 months ago.
